Munich Old Town Walking Tour In English

This was a small group 2 1/2 hour walking tour. We learned about the history of the old town and how it has developed over the years. If you only have a day or 2 in Munich, this is a good tour to do. When it was over, we returned and had lunch at the Hofbrauhaus.

Jean was a great guide! Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and all the history he provided. Would definitely recommend. I was traveling by myself and this was a great introduction to Munich.

Noel was an incredibly fun and engaging tour guide. Our 2+ hour tour was filled with serious history, fun factoids, good humor, recommendations for deeper dives into Munich, restaurant and entertainment recommendations and a panoply of other items. We were having so much fun we were really sorry the tour ended. Today we will follow up on many of Noel’s recommendations. We could not have asked for a better tour. Thank you, Noel!

I would not recommend this walking tour. The guide needed either a microphone or hearing boxes for us to use. Plus the group was quite large to accommodate his solo voice with no help. Plus it was busy in Munich and a lot of other noises going on. Also, a print out of his recommended places to dine at or visit would have been appreciated. Especially when you couldn’t hear him speak. But the one place he recommended for the pork knuckle the meat was very tough and dry. I’ve had much better around Germany. Karl was knowledgeable about the history of the area but we just couldn’t hear him. So I would not recommend it to others to sign up for. The others in our group felt the same way.

This is an in depth tour of old Munich - the inspirations, the innovations, the devastations, and the strength to find themselves again after WWII. We had an absolutely superb tour with Patricia. Alex was a wonderful guide, and gave a lot of dates and history, beginning in the medieval time of when Munich began, all the way through WWII.

It was brilliant! Alex is extremely knowledgable and his English is outstanding. As a local, he has a very interesting and honest perspective on life in Munich which was very refreshing to hear. The city is steeped in history and Alex provided a great summary. We were able to go back to some of the places afterwards for further exploration. Highly recommend especially if Alex is your guide.

Great walking tour of Munich, our guide Jean was awesome, so knowledgeable. And made the tour fun. You don’t go into any of the sites you hear about but get an overview of the city to help you decide where you want to visit for a deeper dive. I do wish the tour had been a smaller group and when the tour started it was implied that we could have joined the tour for free and paid what we thought was appropriate at the end of the tour.

Patrick was an incredible guide! Patrick was very knowledgeable, well spoken and kept a pace that senior citizens could keep up with. I highly recommend his tour!

What a great guide - Noel was a wealth of knowledge, which made the 2 1/2 tour interesting, enjoyable and informative. Everyone will say that their guide was great, our vote - Noel wins. Another excellent tour by Walkative Tours.

Friends did this the day before with 11 people total and enjoyed it. We had 37. Could not hear the guide could not feel engaged with the tour. My mistake I thought I had booked a small group tour. The 4 others I booked were small groups much better experience.

This was a great walk through old town Munich. Bridget gave us lots of information. She spoke loudly and clearly and was easy to understand.

This was informative and interesting. Unfortunately, weather was problematic turning cooler and raining so not as enjoyable as we hoped. Guide was very knowledge.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable & interesting. The only suggestion I would have is to use some type of microphone & earbuds as I couldn’t always hear her depending on where I was standing.

A great way to learn about Old Town Munich and get in a little exercise with a very knowledgeable guide

Karl was our guide and It was very informative. Exactly 2.5 hours. About 3 km walk total so it was not hard at all.

Alex did an amazing job! Hé explained so much more than the history of munich as the history of whole Germany, local literature and traditions and he provided even some tips for exploring more of the town ourselves. But we never felt overwhelmed, pushed or lost, so simple, so understandable were his explanations!! We can 100% recommend this tour!

Awesome overview of Munich’s old town. In two hours, you’re able to see the main sights, along with some smaller details that really amplified the experience. Patrick was a great guide! He was able to keep us all entertained while telling us about Munich!

We really enjoyed our walking tour. Our guide, Bernie, was so nice and full of great information. He kept it interesting and we learned a lot about the history of each of the stops we made. We saw a lot and our whole family of five had a lot of fun - even though it was really cold day. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic way to get oriented - do this first day and then you know which places to revisit . It was freezing during winter so bundle up but the town sites are amazing .

You will love this walking tour. It is a perfect introduction to Munich. We did it on Christmas Day when everything was shut down. Worth the experience to get to know the city and see beautiful sights. The woman was really nice! Definitely go for it. There were 20 people on our tour so make sure to stand closer to hear the tour guide.

Our guide, Alex, was extremely professional and even brought gingerbread to share with the group. He was very knowledgeable about the history and culture, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend Alex to anyone looking for an excellent tour guide.

Alex was our tour guide. It was a cold snowy Christmas eve afternoon. Had an amazing time, with visits to many historical places. Alex was fantastic with his stories. The best part — gingerbread cookies Alex got for everyone. Thanks.
