We had a fantastic time on our food tour through the Viktualienmarkt! Tony was a wonderful guide: knowledgeable, friendly, and full of interesting stories about the market and local food. The tastings were delicious, and the whole experience was fun and memorable. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Munich!
This was great tour with wonderful stops with just enough history. Lots of food so go hungry. We had 15 prople in our group and it was the perect size. Our guide Victoria was fantastic.
The best food tour for this market! Our guide Victoria was amazing, explained every dish and added great history facts about everything. We had an amazing time and left so full!
This tour was a wonderful stroll through the Munich outdoor marketplace sampling delicious food of the area. Victoria was a super host and not only introduced us to the city treats but also explained the history of the market and food items. Loved the different types of sausages and mustard (was able to fine the Develey mustard on Amazon) and the fruit, cheese & honey samplings. This was a great way to receive an overview of the Munich food culture. Highly recommended.
Victoria gave us a fantastic tour of the market. We tried a wide variety of food and drink, and learned some history to boot. She also gave us some great restaurant recommendations for dinner.
We had a great time, he was so knowledgeable and fun! We ate way too much and had a really great time!
Our entire group had a touring Munich with Tony. We learned so much about the area, the food and history. We got a taste, rather a lot, of a huge variety of Munich food items and drinks. It was nice to visit the public market and try a variety of things. We would like to do the spirit tour with Tony as well. It looks really fun, and a couple in our group raised about their nighttime experience with Tony.
Wonderful food tour! Katrina provided us with a genuinely delightful experience. Her passion for food shines! It was lovely to have her share it with us! And the food was absolutely delicious!
Excellent tour guide. I’ve been on several of these, by far the best we have had. The food choices were excellent.
Victoria was a fantastic guide. She knew the locals at each stop and we were able to sample several of the local food specialities. At one stop we picked up som fresh fruit, cheese and honey and made a little picnic just off the market. Very enjoyable experience !
I was only in Munich for a short amount of time and this was a great way to experience it. I enjoyed learning about the history of the Viktualienmarkt and Marienplatz and about the different vendors and restaurants. We tried so many fun and traditional dishes. I especially loved the Bavarian cheese and sausages! Really enjoyable way to taste so many great foods in Munich.
Hugo was fantastic! We had such a great time! Great food! Lots of history and fun facts Would definitely do again!
We really enjoyed spending a few hours with Victoria! It was the perfect start to our trip—learning more about the local food and customs, tasting things we would otherwise have missed! Highly recommended.
We had the best time with Victoria today. We were lucky enough to have her to ourselves, and she was absolutely delightful company. We had SO much good food and drinks - all things we wouldn’t have tried without her guidance. All delicious. We had booked with another operator who cancelled on us due to insufficient numbers, which I am now very grateful for as it landed us with BlackBooks! Highly recommend this tour.
victoria was super. she took us to so many great places and showed us how to navigate the market. what a fun day with the family learning about food and culture.
Thank you very much Zsofie for taking the time and showing us the signature and especially your favorite places around Viktuelienmarkt. It was very tasty, we had a lot of fun and also learnt a lot! We really appreciated your friendly approach, palette of topics you can cover and especially your sassy Bavarian sense of humor. Wishing you the best of luck and many very satisfied participants in the future! P.S. Don’t have any breakfast guys, you’ll be full! [😇]
We had a fantastic time with Tony on our tour. He was engaging, hilarious and very knowledgeable. We traveled with our 16 and 19 year old kids and he was great with them, making sure to keep them interested and participating. You eat ALOT of food on this trip, and drink, so the advice about not eating breakfast should be heeded. It's also advisable to bring an empty bag for leftovers. Our remaining snackes got us through the rest of our time in Munich.
We had the best time!!!! Hugo, our tour guide was incredible! I felt like I was hanging out with an old friend all day! The tour was in the market which was nice because we saw so many things we not have, and there was not a lot of waking like in many tours. The food selections were amazing and fun. I felt like a local. My kids 21 and 17 both said it was the best food tour they had ever done and they have done many! I can not recommend this tour with Hugo enough!!

We had an excellent time with this tour and Hugo today. I felt like we got a lot of different things to try for a very good price. We ended up with a very small group and were able to chat with each other and Hugo and get our questions answered. I highly suggest this tour and learning about the market in Munich.

Hugo was a really well informed tour guide . Pleasant to be around . I wouldn’t recommend his tour to everyone
Zsofia was a terrific guide! Friendly, personable, engaging and knowledgeable. It was a fun and tasty experience that introduced us to the local cuisine and food culture. But be sure to come hungry- don’t eat breakfast-because you will get more than a full meal to eat. The first course is a breakfast pastry. Also be aware that alcohol is part of the tastings. We were offered beer, mead, and vodka. Also, if your tour is during the mid day, make sure you wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle. You can fill your bottle at the public fountains.
Hugo was wonderful! Had a great time - learned a lot and ate wonderful food. We did not even know there was a market in the area - Hugo showed us all around!
Excellent experience with Hugo!
Wonderful experience. Our guide, Hugo, was fun and knowledgable. The food selections were perfect. I am a picky eater and loved everything.
We had a wonderful food tour with Tony! Our small group of just four people, ranging in age from 18 to our 60s, made for a relaxed and friendly experience. Tony was knowledgeable, informative, and genuinely kind. He shared the history of Munich, Bavarian food traditions, and local culture while keeping the tour fun and engaging. We started at Café Frischhut with fresh, warm Schmalznudeln pastries, then explored the Viktualienmarkt tasting a wide variety of local specialties. We enjoyed mead and local honey paired with delicious regional cheese and fresh cherries for a picnic at the honey shop. We sampled traditional Bavarian sausages with sauerkraut and potato salad, and even tried Leberkäse. To finish, we stopped at the “Crazy Ice Cream Maker,” where we bravely sampled the currywurst ice cream, but our favorites were the cherry and peach flavors! It was a perfect combination of food, history, and conversation. If you’re visiting Munich and want to experience authentic Bavarian cuisine while learning about the city, I highly recommend this tour—and esp
Katrina was great with communication beforehand and met us as expected. It has been very hot since our arrival in Germany but she took that into consideration with our stops. We tasted Bavarian Vodka with the fizzy packets - maybe the adult version of pop rocks? Then we had some local sausage (white boiled variety and Bavarian sausage), sauerkraut, potato salad pretzel, and veggie cheese plate - and of course the beer. All delicious. We moved on to have cheese (a less spicy version of jalapeno jack), honey (delicious on the cheese), apricots and honey wine from the Honey House. Who knew a version of German Hot Honey even existed? We could have tried a meat sandwich but opted for ice cream instead (the heat in Germany is real atm!). Wonderful intense flavors - and so refreshing. We also had the pleasure of tasting Pistachio Baklava from Nadir Güllü. This place is amazing - and on the Michelin list for all you foodies. Katrina gave us a little history (food and otherwise), gossip and local lore and an all around great afternoon. Thank you so much and we will be back!
Katrina was amazing. The pickup location, despite being in an incredibly crowded area due to a city event, was easy to identify and navigate to. We started with a delicious pastry from Cafe Frischhut and from there it only got better. Delicious traditional biergarten food and beer, a fresh selection of local fruit and cheese paired with refreshing cold mead from local apiaries, and finished it all off with a very welcome ice cream from the best ice cream maker in Bavaria. Katrina gave our small group rich background on the market and each of the stops was an opportunity to learn and, of course, eat. She definitely made the tour, especially considering we were a small group and the other two guests were not really engaged. 100/10, would take other tours with her and her company for the conversation and the history lessons along the way.

Victoria was absolutely the best guide! Each “area” we experienced was so well planned for knowledge and FUN!! Each “meal” got better and brought more smiles to our faces!!! The entire tour was so worth the cost and we didn’t want it to end ❤️❤️❤️
Sophie was great. Food was delicious!!! We highly recommended!!!!!!!! The market was great!!!!!! !!!!
Great food and drink. Victoria was terrific! Learned a lot of history. Have you ever noticed how rare it is to see a German flag flying?
Don’t eat before you take this tour. It’s a lot of food and the selection was very German and very good. Not a lot of walking involved. The tour guide Victoria was very informed of the area and picked places with history behind them. We started out with a pastry called a Schmalznudeln which is a donut dipped in sugar and then did lunch with sausage sourkrout potato salad pretzel and beer and then she did a charcuterie board with fruit and cheese and a honey wine and ended up with another half sandwich. My only complaint was I couldn’t eat everything lol other than that I’ve taken some other food tours and this was the best one I’ve ever taken. Thanks Victoria money and time well spent with you!
Had a great time, I loved Hugo!! We went around the market at a very relaxed pace enjoying an incredible amount of food. Hugo was really a pleasure to be with and an expert on everything Munich. The best way to learn about the city!
Informative, Fun, Good Food & Drink. Get to experience it from a local who lives there! Tony was a Great guide with good information, historical info. regarding traditions, murals, local beers & more. He was so friendly & great to talk with, felt like a tour from a family member you haven’t seen in a long time. Made us feel very comfortable and very welcome. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Hugo was an amazing guide! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the local cuisine. We tasted close to 20 different foods - ranging from breakfast to dessert - and learned about their history and origins. The afternoon was laid back and unhurried. Hugo offered many fun facts and travel tips throughout the afternoon. Definitely recommend! Tip: do not eat a big breakfast before going on this tour!
We had the pleasure of having Hugo as our guide on the Lunch like a Local Tour. He was down to earth, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the cuisine in Munich. We sampled close to 20 different foods - covering breakfast through dessert - and learned about their history and origin. The trip was well organized and not rushed. Definitely recommend!
Zsofia was an excellent host! She was knowledgeable, friendly, and fun to be around. The tour was quite enjoyable- great food, tasty beer, and informative details. We learned a lot about local food, dress, and culture. We highly recommend this!
Victoria was absolutely incredible and this tour was even better than we could have imagined. Victoria was thoughtful, intelligent, and made an effort to get to know us personally. Of course, the food and drink selections were great but the people make the experience over the top! We ate delicious food and learned so much about the historical context behind each item. Victoria helped us try new things, but also made sure we were comfortable at every turn. This tour was the perfect amount of time and a great value. I would absolutely do it again in the future. She even went out of her way to walk us to our next destination for the day so we would not get lost. She is a gem!!! Thank you Victoria for a great experience!
My wife and I had a great time visiting the market with Katrina as our guide. We went at a slow period, so it was just the two of us, but she made it a very fun and engaging time. The tour lasted about 3 hours, as expected, and we tried lots of different foods, as Katrina guided us through. I enjoyed learning about the different sausages and mustards, some of the "rules" of Munich, and just getting to hang out with someone from the region. I think it was well worth the cost given the amount of food and attention that goes into the tour. Thanks Katrina!
We had a wonderful time with Zsofia on the Food Tour. She was knowledgeable, accomodating, and just a lot of fun. She took us to the best local establishments and made sure we experienced outstanding food and drink. If you get a chance, book this tour with Zsofia. You won’t regret it!
Our tour guide, Sophie, was an absolute gem. She listened to our physical limitations and adjusted the tour to accommodate us. Sophie took us to view the Glockenspiel and explained what we were viewing. From there we were treated to the local pastry, schmalznudel auszogne. Through the farmers market to a restaurant where our brunch consisted of wheat beer, sausages, warm potato salad, sauerkraut, and pretzels. All of it was the best we’ve ever had. Sophie then led us to a lovely store that featured honey products. We sampled honey wine (served warmed or chilled) . From the farmers stalls Sophie brought us grapes and cheese, which we drizzled with vanilla honey. The tour finished with Turkish baklava, which was so delicious! Even though our tour was on a Saturday and the market was crowded, Sophie’s planning and maneuvering made everything accessible. The tour lasted 3 hours and was easily some of the best time we had in Munich. Highly recommend this tour.
This is a very tasty way to see and experience the open air food market in Munich. Julia was an excellent and thoughtful guide.
Our group of 6 (2 adults, 2 kids, and 2 seniors) were in Europe for 10 days, roughly splitting our time between Paris and Munich, and with each day, we had a tour planned of some sort. I can say, without question, that this was to the best, most relaxed, and FUN tour we did the entire trip!!! Our tour guides, Victoria and Tony, were a blast to be with. They not only showed us so many delicious food spots in the Viktualienmarkt, but they also peppered the tour with history and fun side activities. Every single thing we ate was delicious (and included in the price of the tour), and we ended up returning to a number of the spots on our last day of our trip since they were so memorable. One concern I had coming into the tour was that we would just get a teeny sample and then be encouraged to spend more money at the shops. NOPE! None of that - a very fun, straight forward eating tour of German delights spanning meats, cheeses, pastries, fruits, desserts, and alcohol (for the adults, and delicious authentic options for our kids). Also, it's very low impact from a walking standpoint, making it perfect for the seniors in the group. If you're planning a group trip to Europe of any sort, I HIGHLY recommend booking this tour with BlackBook Tours! You will not regret it!!!
We had a fantastic time with our guide Victoria. We learned many things about living and eating in Germany . Highly recommend this tour ! Victoria was so warm and welcoming I was sad to say goodbye !
We really enjoyed the tour. We started and ended our tour with some sweets and we ate so many delicious things in between. And the best part of it all was the tour guide who made us feel like we’re just having lunch with our friend!! I totally recommend the tour it’s really worth it!
The idea of a tour was to make us drunk and then we like everything. simple. not a good value of money ( overpriced
This food tour was excellent!! Great history, stories, and our guide had a wonderful connection with the vendors/restaurants which made my family feel well taken care of. The guide (Victoria) was so kind and friendly, and ensured we felt welcome and well fed, of course! Danke!!
