Curt met us at the time provided, and the location was easy to find. He was very flexible with tailoring the tour to our desires. I particularly appreciated how he would give information about a location and then give us space to look around, without making us feel rushed. We were a multigenerational group, and I think he did a good job of keeping all ages engaged. He also provided good recommendations for places to eat, and where to skip, which was very helpful.

Curt did an excellent job. He had suggestions on things to see, but wanted our input and interests to form the tour. Kept a reasonable pace for a bunch of 70 year olds. Very informative with occasional humor mixed in. Definitely recommend.

We had a great tour with Curt. He is very knowledgeable about the area and very passionate about the history of Munich. Unlike many other tours we have taken, Curt asked us where we would like to go and what was most important to us and then tailored our walk from there. He even through in a few extra surprises. Who knew Muncih had surfers?!

This was my 2nd time taking one of Kurt's tours. Very informative and entertaining. He customizes the route/stops based on your interests. Some members of our group were mobility limited so those of us in the back of the group were not able to hear quite as well. We did stop at a vendor for samples of products that were way overpriced - I would have preferred to skip that. Overall, I highly recommend these tours for those who want a better explanation of the history and significance of the sites.

My wife and I absolutely loved our private walking tour of Munich with Curt! He is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and Bavarian and German history and we really enjoyed his personable way of imparting that information. We learned a lot and had a great time too - the time flew by too fast! We also loved the restaurant he suggested for lunch after the tour, identified in the attached picture. Amazing! Best tour we’ve ever done - and we’ve done lots! Curt went at our speed, allowed us to stop along the way if we asked. He was so knowledgeable. He was like our own personal historian. I had been traveling solo for a few weeks already and arrived in munich not totally feeling the vibe, could've been tired from travel or location of hostel or whatever. Found recommendation for big hat tour and booked it last day while there. Curt was able to pivot, originally planned Salzburg but weather didn't agree, he did the full day in munich and gave me a much needed refresh on my view of the city. He was kind and knowledgeable and a great conversationalist. Highly recommend a tour with him!

Curtis is an amazing tour guide! My family was in town for the week and I wanted them to get a crash course in Munich history - and he sure delivered! Curtis asked us before the tour what we wanted to do and was able to assemble a custom tour based on our last minute ideas. He truly knows his stuff and has tons of images to show that really enhances the tour. My family was so happy they ended up reserving another Big Hat tour of Dachau later in the week. When friends are in town, we will definitely call up Curtis again.

Curtis‘s tour was fun and informative at the same time. He let us choose the focus and we had a wonderful dialogue about Munich’s history and Omani other topics. He also came well prepared with lots of historic images on his iPad to complement and/ or contrast what we could presently see.

My wife and I originally contracted with Curt Milburn in 2020 on a planned trip to Bavaria which we had to cancel because of the pandemic. We rebooked everything in 2021, and boy are we glad Curt was again available for a private tour of Hitler's Munich. Curt is a historian and knows his material, and I don't mean fact recitation. The contours and context he brought to his presentations and ensuing discussions as we walked the streets of Munich were nothing short of fabulous. His iPad is packed with photos and film clips dating back to the 1920s, and he uses them in an organized way that allows you truly to take a step back in time -- because you are standing RIGHT THERE as you watch a 1930s parade pass by, or view a bombed out building, or witness a mass military gathering on the plaza before you. Curt is engaging, is a master story-teller and clearly values a good discussion, to which he brings so much knowledge and historical atmosphere. At the end of more than 5 hours with Curt I felt as though I'd finished a semester with a favorite professor on the fall of the Weimar Republic and the rise of Nazism in Munich. My wife and I agreed it was one of the best days of our 8-week European tour.

We had a brilliant time with Curt - we learnt a lot about the city of Munich, and laughed a lot too. Curt has an excellent historical knowledge, balanced with a cracking sense of humour. I had a great time with Curt around the beautiful city of Munich. Given his extensive knowledge he is able to communicate both the fun and facinating aspects of the city. I especially loved his knowledge of the little tidbits in the corners of town that I would have walked right past otherwise. Curt is also able to show the darker aspect of this beautiful town, teaching me a great deal of the origins and history of one of the darktest periodes of the city. Even against this backdrop however Curt was always able to keep things fun for the entire familiy and I would suggest his services to anyone!.

Curt was our private tour guide for Best of the City and to Dacau. He is super knowledgeable about history and interwined so many interesting facts in a way that allowed up to absorb it all without being overwhelmed. He's warm and friendly and easy to listen to. He also took us to Dacau, including a lesson on navigating the subway and learning basic German words and customs. There were just six in our group, all friends, and we all thoroughly loved Curt. We had ~20 people from 8 countries in town for a meeting. Curt provided a great walking tour for the team. Our family of 4 (including 2 teens) from the US enjoyed our city tour with Curt. He has a fun sense of humor that really clicks with the kids and adults alike. We learned a little historical history, WWII history, culture and tasted some good food along the way. I only wish we had a few more hours to further explore. There is no reason to wander around the center of Munich wondering what to do or reading from a guide book - take a tour with Curt - it was like visiting with an old friend.

One of the more enjoyable and most informative tours we’ve ever done. Curt’s amusing descriptions and incisive insights into the secrets and history of Munich made it so easy to absorb all he told us. He is incredibly knowledgeable. We hired Curt for a half day city tour and for the Dachau tour as well and could have not been more pleased. He was prompt and professional in his advance communication and for our time with him. His knowledge of the city, Germany and the history of the modern era is encyclopedia like (younger folks may not get that reference!). Curt guided our group of 10 on a best of city tour in Munich combined with a visit to the Dachau Memorial site. This was the best tour of our entire 12-day river cruise through central Europe. Curt was amazing. My wife and I met Curt in the heart of Munich historic area and instantly connected like we were old friends. He spent the day explaining a number of details about the history of Munich from the beginning as well as the reconstruction after WWII. He introduced us to some great spots for breakfast and lunch as well as to a fantastic shop for souvenirs. The prices in the shop were extremely reasonable based on other shopping we did later. A++ I booked this private tour because of the many positive reviews and it met, perhaps exceeded, my every expectation. Curt is an ex pat who speaks American English in a clear, warm voice which is very important to me as I am hearing impaired. My husband and I are also senior "Seniors" and he paced his gate to our comfort. My husband's main interest is the Third Reich and mine is architecture and church interiors and Curt was able to satisfy both of our interests during the tour. We had great fun visiting the outdoor food market with his knowledge of where we could enjoy much free sampling. As mentioned often his historical knowledge in many fields is remarkable and he presents it in interesting ways. I don't think my husband will every again do one of the general walking tours with 25 to 30 participants !! Thank you Curt.
