Christian was fabulous, and he provided information about areas we were going. Please note that this tour, while they say it includes a guide, they do not go through the stops you select. Meaning you go through Eagle’s Nest on your own. There is a lot of driving, so the high fee does allow you to not worry about getting everywhere, but is a guide/driver combination.

All of the sights mentioned here are carefully selected recommendations. Since you have booked this tour as a private tour, we are happy to accommodate additional requests as far as possible. Please also note the following point 'Additional Info'. ... but now: look forward to a wonderful tour and rest assured that you are in the best hands of your friendly and professional guide, who will take you on an eventful, informative, yet relaxing trip in our luxurious minivans. ...At the old pilgrimage church of St. Maria Ramersdorf from the 14th century, we leave Munich and drive southeast on the Autobahn A8...
Soon we reach the 'Mount Irschenberg', the most beautiful view point that you can have from a German motorway. This Motorway route was built in the mid-1930s as a "panoramic motorway". These today unusual routings were part of the National Socialist propaganda: the beauty of the landscape was abused by deliberately staging "German Homeland".
A little later, after another magnificent view, we reach the largest lake in Bavaria, lake Chiemsee. On its shore was Germany's first highway rest stop, whose partially still visible buildings were used by the US Army as a recreation center until 2003 after the war.
In the midst of beautiful alpine scenery and not far from the Königssee Ice bobsleigh track offers the popular pedestrian zone in the village of Königssee and on the waterfront inexpensive shopping and great photo opportunities.
No road, not even a path, goes around the 8 km/5 mile-long Königssee, which is surrounded by high rock walls – even the popular destination on the west shore, the peninsula with the famous pilgrimage chapel of St. Bartholomä and the former hunting lodge with its idyllic beer garden, can only be reached by boat or via a steep trail. Experience the famous echo of lake Königssee on the impressive 35-minute boat trip and marvel at the longest continuous rock wall of the Eastern Alps, the feared 'Watzmann Ostwand', and a 'sleeping witch'! ***** Königssee Boat Trip SKIP-THE-LINE Tickets including approx. 40 minutes stopover on the peninsula (2026): Adults: €23.40 Children (6 - 17 years): €11.70
On the night of October 24, 2026 the Eagle's Nest burned down to its outer walls due to suspected arson! It cannot be visited until the planned reconstruction, and also the Eagle's Nest shuttle bus line will be out of service until then. On this tour, however, you still have the opportunity to get very close to the Eagle's Nest: Given suitable weather, we travel along a panoramic road that reaches an altitude of 1,600 meters (5,250 ft.) and runs along the mountain opposite the Eagle's Nest—offering spectacular views of the remains of the building. In addition, in the Obersalzberg documentation, you'll get extensive information about the entire area, including the history of the Eagle's Nest. If you want to enjoy similarly spectacular views, we can take you to a nearby cable car, which even gets you up to 6,000 ft. The Eagle's Nest (in German: "Kehlsteinhaus") perched in a spectacular location at over 1,800 meters (6.000 ft), was constructed on the orders of Martin Bormann—including the 6.5 km access road—in just 13 months, under mostly extremely tough conditions for the workers. The building was a prestige project of the Nazi government.
The darkest chapter of Berchtesgaden's history took place on the Obersalzberg, a plateau at almost 1,000 meters between Berchtesgaden and the Eagle's Nest. Under Hitler and his entourage, it was declared a restricted area from 1933 onwards. On April 25, 1945, 1,300 bombs destroyed almost the entire site, with only a few places spared, including the Eagle's Nest and Albert Speer's villa and studio. In 1952, the ruins of most of the bombed buildings were removed or demolished; some of them, like the Hotel Türken, were rebuilt. Your guide, supported by historical images, will show you the remains.
Learn more about the 12-year reign of terror of the Nazis in Berchtesgaden in the Obersalzberg documentation, and visit a part of the extensive bunker complex that has been opened to the public. For visitors with a ticket to the Eagle's Nest, admission is free, otherwise €4.50/adult (2026). Audio guides are available for free. You have about 30 minutes available, which is enough for visiting the bunkers. If you need more time, for example to visit the rest of the exhibition, this can be arranged on request.
First mentioned in a document at the beginning of the 12th century, the former monastery foundation 'Berthercatmen' experienced an economic upswing thanks to the free mining on salt and metal. Today, the market town embedded in the overwhelming Berchtesgaden Alpine world is rightly one of the most popular holiday regions in Germany due to its abundance of sights! Enjoy the the traffic-restricted historic town center with its delightfully painted houses and numerous shopping opportunities. The local brewery "Hofbrauhaus Berchtesgaden" is an ideal place to take a break. You will also see the surprisingly huge central station (opened on 1 February 1940) and the tunnel portal of the planned new railway line to Salzburg. Also from this unspeakable period come the "Little Reich Chancellery", as well as the residences of Wilhelm Keitel and Alfred Jodl.
(ON REQUEST): Enjoy a tour lasting over an hour in Germany's oldest active salt mine. A mine train takes you to the salt fields inside the Obersalzberg. On spectacular slides, you reach the deeper levels, and on a raft, you glide over the mysterious "Mirror Lake." Learn from your miner guide how "white gold" has been mined here since 1517 – a fascinating experience for both young and old! We recommend sturdy footwear and plenty of warm clothing (upon check-in, you will receive a mandatory protective suit for free). The salt mine maintains a constant temperature of 12 degrees Celsius (53.6 degrees Fahrenheit) year-round. ***** SKIP-THE-LINE Tickets (2026): Adults: €26.50 / Children (4-16 years): €13.50 *****
Only in suitable weather: The Construction of this scenic panoramic road began in 1938 and was completed in 1955. At the highest point, 5,250 ft. up, you can cross the Austrian border on foot. Cozy mountain inns offer regional and international specialties, and spectacular views, especially of the burnt-down Eagle's Nest, come free of charge! The toll is included in the price of the trip.
(ON REQUEST): Just about a 1/2 hour drive from Berchtesgaden, you'll find one of the most beautiful cities in Europe: Salzburg, the city of Mozart and for many fans also the 'Sound of Music' city! On an approximately 50-minute old town walking tour with your guide, discover all the historic sights (many of which were also filming locations for the Sound of Music movie). If you want to invest more time (see below), you can, for example, visit the Hohensalzburg Fortress or other attractions that we can reach by car, such as Hellbrunn Palace with its overwhelming & unique trick fountains and/or the Sound of Music gazebo, or the gardens of Mirabell Palace. ***** Package PRICES a) or b) for a professional city tour of Salzburg including parking fees – the prices apply to your entire group (so not per person) – and can only be paid in cash on site to your guide: ***** Price a) the booked timeframe of 9.5 or 11 hours will not be exceeded (restrictions at other stops are possible): €70.00 ***** or ***** Price b) including 1 extra hour: €135.00
Relax on the way back to Munich in your comfortable leather seat and let the unforgettable impressions of this eventful tour pass through your mind again – your tour guide will safely take you back to your accommodation or any other address you want in the Munich city area.

Our tour guide Stefan was amazing. He had so much knowledge and all the tips to keep us on time and make a full day run smoothly! He was very accommodating and showed us many different things along the way. We highly recommend! I only wish we had time to check out his Hallstatt day trip as well.
What a wonderful full day private experience! Our driver and guide Karl was great and gave us insider tips for things to take more time on at each stop. This was such a great way to see the countryside and ease from Munich.
We had memorable and beautiful trips for my family and I. Top marks for being friendly, professional, courteous and explaining the history of the sites we visited. Excellent service and the days we spent on these sightseeing trips, were the best days of our visit / vacation! Many thanks!
Our tour of the Eagle’s Nest and Lake Konigsee with Sightseeing Bavaria was the highlight of our trip to Munich! Our guide, Karl, was a font of knowledge and provided expert guidance throughout all of the sites. He was an absolute professional and so personable that the drive was as enjoyable as the site-seeing! Stefan, the owner and manager of the company, helped us create the perfect itinerary that blended history and culture. We highly recommend this tour, as the main attractions give a deep look into an important part of WW2 history (artifacts and photos at the Documentation Center and Eagle’s Nest are expertly annotated). For nature lovers, the beauty of Konigsee, Berchtesgaden, and the view from Obersalzburg were unparalleled. Thanks so much to the team for a wonderful experience!
We had an amazing day with our guide Karl, he was very knowledgeable and he had lots of tips to help us see everything we wanted, he helped us get all of our tickets, so the day was completely stress-free. As it was a private tour we even managed to see a couple of extra bits too, very grateful for all of his care and attention, would definitely recommend this tour, as it's a day none of my family will ever forget. Thanks Karl!
Stefan was a knowledgeable and professional guide who worked with us to build a custom itinerary that met all of our needs. Even though the Eagle's Nest ended up being closed, he remained flexible and helped make the experience a memorable one.
Had the best day with our guide Karl! He gave a lot of information about each location and showed us places along the way that were really interesting. The day was timed perfectly and having a lovely and knowledgeable guide really made the day!
Max was outstanding.. he added a couple extra stops, the stop for coffee and a buttered pretzel and a Schnapps tasting. Very knowledgeable would recommend to anyone
We thoroughly enjoyed this trip. Thomas was our guide for the day and provided numerous insights to the places we visited and areas we traveled through. He was very knowledgeable and personable. We had to make a couple of changes to our agenda during this tour and Thomas handled them with ease. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone. I look forward to visiting Munich again and taking another trip with Thomas and Sightseeing Bavaria Exclusive.
Was a fabulous experience on a day with wonderful weather. The lake cruise, the trip to the Eagles Nest, and then to Salzburg were all enhanced by our knowledgeable private guide. Thomas did an EXCELLENT job of interacting with our family, and helping personalize the experience as much as he possibly could for us. He went out of his way to help show a number of sights in Salzburg that our family wanted to see. He was patient and kind and the whole experience was great. Blessed by great weather too.
How much time do you have? Because I'm sitting here thinking of the highlights of this tour, what made it special, and what made it so worthwhile and I hardly even know where to start. The Highlights: Thomas picked us up in a newer model minivan that was really comfortable and actually air conditioned. He got us on the road to Berchtesgaden and along the way pointed out different sites of interest, filling us in on local history and even current events. It was the same with each location we visited: we went from Berchtesgaden to Lake Königssee and really enjoyed the boat ride and visit to the St Bartholomew church and surrounding area of the Hirschau peninsula. Then it was on to Eagle's Nest, and from there to Salzberg. That was our itinerary; we chose what, where, and how long we were able to stay at each place. This entire area is Sound-of-Music stunning, and we were in awe of the natural beauty: mountains, valleys, beautiful forests, lakes and rivers. It didn't disappoint. What made it feel special? At each place Thomas told us interesting stories that we'd never heard. He took us to the very spot where Hitler's house stood before it was bombed, also where Goering and others stayed while visiting the area. He gave us great advice about Eagle's Nest (go immediately to the elevators to avoid long lines!), told us funny stories about some of the Salzberg statues, got us to try the famous Mozartkugel chocolates - yes, they're delicious and I don't even like marzipan. He found a bathroom for me to use in what must be the chicest spot in Salzberg's square where I got to wait in the women's restroom line with women whose jewelry cost more than my car, so that was an adventure, lol. There were so many other things he did for us, I can't begin to list them all. At the end of the day he asked about our plans for the next day and gave us great ideas for places to visit and took us on a tour through the areas of Munich we wanted to see, making recommendations for everything from shopping to museums to places to eat and how best to get there. Being able to have long conversations with a guide is an entirely different level of touring: we learned and saw so much that we never would've been able to on our own or on a group tour - not just about the history and the location, but also a little bit about what it's like to live in Germany. Being chauffeured around is amazing - that means no driving, no having to find a place to park, having everything explained in detail, having tickets to some attractions purchased in advance, being picked up right outside of each place instead of having to schlepp all the way across a parking lot (more and more appreciated as the day went on), having the border checkpoint explained to us (and sailing right through it). These are all part of what the private tour experience entails. We never would've had this level of enjoyment being on a bus tour. We're not even close to being fluent in German and I don't know that we would've had the confidence to travel to all these places on our own. The X factor was Thomas. His personality is just wonderful. He's funny, smart, knowledgeable about the area and sincere is his desire to make sure you have the best experience possible. He went above and beyond to make the day a special one for us, and made us feel like we were hanging out with a new friend all day instead of a tour guide. Added bonus: he's a safe driver, too 😊 We were so impressed with Thomas and also with Stephen, who is very responsive and put up with my many emails and questions, always with the greatest patience and kindness. They did such a great job we can't recommend them enough.
It’s nice to have a driver but the experiment was way too rushed for the price we paid. Overall, I would not do it again.
The entire tour was fabulous! Our driver, Lukas, and our guide, Stefan, were stellar. It was a long day but full of information and great tours!
Amazing views and experience. Nothing like I have seen. Thomas our guide was the best guide I have ever had in Europe.
This was a beautiful tour. The lake was peaceful & the views from Eagle’s Nest were stunning. We added the salt mine which was so fun. We had family in our group from 12 - 75. Everyone loved the extra adventure. It makes you feel young. We couldn’t ask for a better guide, Karl felt like family by the end of the day.
Karl was great ask for him great day, great views of mountains lucky weather wise, salt mines unique
The tour guide was excellent, I felt like I was part of the history, he explained to me the story of what happened. As an Australian I had plenty of questions. My tour guide answered the questions very simply so I understood clearly
We have just arrived back from the Konigssee and Eagles Nest tour and what a fantastic and informative day out it was. Our guide Stefan not only took us to the "main attractions" but added in little sights and places along the way that we would never have known about without his detailed local knowlwdge. We would highly recommend Stefan and we would like to thank you once again Thank you for a fantastic day.
Katrin was our guide. Was very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend. We were held up a bit in traffic running a tad late and she had no problem with us getting a meal even when time was running late....
Great personalized tour. Our guide was funny and very knowledgeable about the area. I would highly recommend this excursion.
This tour was one of the highlights of our 3 week Danube trip Thanks to our amazing guide( and excellent driver) Armin, who was a fountain of history and quickly became one of the family, we had an unforgettable day. Highly recommend this tour! Kudos to Armin!
This was an excellent day tour for us which was made more enjoyable by timing recommendations by Stefan and by our excellent guide Katrin. She was exceptional in her narrative of the local history and navigated us through all three locations. This was a very full day starting with the beautiful boat tour on Lake Konigssee which was followed by the Eagles Nest tour and the Salt Mine tour. All were very enjoyable and if you want to do all three tours x MUC this is the way to do it. Thank you again Katrin for a wonderful day and to Stefan who worked behind the scenes to make this an enjoyable day.
Thanks so much to Stefan and Armin for the very specific tour, and for doing so much work to make it great! Armin was very nice, and handled a few hiccups in the tour very well :) We had a great time, and really appreciate it so much! Thanks, highly reccommend!
We were picked up at our hotel on time by our guide Karl. He safely drove a comfortable late model minivan with plenty of room for our party of four. We saw all items outlined in the tour description and Karl also showed us several extra sites in the Obersalzberg not usually known to visitors. Karl had an amazing knowledge of the history of the region and gave us insights into what happened during that dark chapter of German history. The natural beauty of the area was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our boat trip on the Konigssee and especially the visit to the Eagle's Nest (Kehlsteinhaus). Karl ensured that our time was spent efficiently, our personal needs were met and we enjoyed his outgoing personality. We would highly recommend this private day tour from Munich. Review by Bruce P. and June C., Gig Harbor, WA USA (traveling with Ann Lynn and John H.) Tour date 21 May 2022
What a wonderful day. The lake is absolutely breathtaking, definitely take the short walk to the upper lake. It was a beautiful walk, easy for stroller. The view from Eagle’s nest was foggy for us at the top but you’re practically up in the clouds so what else can you expect. But the bus area where you get on the elevator to go up to eagle’s nest gave an absolutely beautiful view also. Stefan was great, very knowledgeable and kind.
Stefan is an experienced, helpful and fun tour guide. Had a wonderful day seeing the Lake, the Eagles Nest and the Obersalzberg area. Pickup was on-time, excellent driving and very knowledgeable about the area. Stefan even found us a covid testing site on our tour route so we could test in preparation for our return flight the following day. A private comfortable van with an experienced driver and fun tour guide made this a special day to remember. Thank you Stefan!!
An excellent and interesting excursion to the eagle's nest that is not cheap € 32,- But worth it Is.
