We started our honeymoon at the Hilton Moorea. The resort is beautiful and it looks like you’re staring at a postcard from pretty much every angle. We stayed in a King Deluxe Garden Bungalow and loved the room. We booked an overwater villa in Bora Bora, so we figured we didn’t need to do it twice. The room was spacious and had an awesome outdoor patio with a plunge pool and 2 lounge chairs. Water pressure was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel. The main area where the property fell short was the service. The hotel is clearly understaffed. This revealed itself the most at the restaurants. We found ourselves constantly struggling to get the attention of a server at the main restaurant, Arii Vahine. It was clear that this was a staffing issue. There was also one very uncomfortable moment where I was scolded by the employee who was making crepes when I placed the tongs back in the wrong location after putting one on my plate. There were plenty of lovely staff members as well but the service was broadly a miss given the price that the property charges. The breakfast spread was great and we specifically enjoyed the omelette bar. The rest of the food was mediocre at best and was extremely expensive. All in all, we had a great time. The friendly cats on the property almost make up for the lack of service, but it feels appropriate to call it out given the hefty price tag.

This is an odd resort. The rooms are okay but pretty nice. The pool and location is amazing. The grill restaurant has excellent food and terrible service. The upstairs restaurant has terrible food and okay service, except during the dinner shows when the food is pretty good (but not great). The breakfasts are great. We had a lobster risotto that was one of the worst dishes we've ever had. I don't want to sound like a snooty person complaining about lobster but this was bad. It was like the last chicken of the day at a KFC buffet. I suspect they cooked the lobster in the risotto itself, low and slow, so it came out like a piece of tasteless rubber. And even the risotto wasn't good. I question how any chef could even think that dish is okay. It feels like it has a major problem with middle management. The employees were all kind and always busy, but they were busy on things like organizing table settings rather than actually helping customers. I noticed that if you asked them for a recommendation, they could only tell you what was popular, not what they'd recommend. I get the feeling the employees aren't actually getting to eat any of the food. Given how expensive everything is here, I'd say it's disappointing.
We came here for our honeymoon, noted on our booking months in advance. Three nights: two at roughly $1,750 a night, one on points. Before arrival their concierge wrote, in writing, that 'the resort will provide amenities as a gift to make your stay as special as possible.' What arrived: half a bottle of champagne - the same pour every guest gets at check-in, and half of what their own published honeymoon policy promises - plus plastic water bottles. We were given the first overwater bungalow on the dock: zero privacy, every guest on the walkway passing our deck, while guests who checked in after us were shown to their rooms first. The food is expensive and mediocre - buffet style with an omelette station as the only made-to-order option, raw bacon every morning - and the service is worse: rude, unfriendly, not remotely accommodating. Trash from the night before is still sitting around the next morning. Credit where due: the bungalow is dated but nice and the snorkeling is genuinely good, though even the gear is beat up. Sunday evening I asked - politely - to be moved to a panoramic bungalow, or to hear what they could do to make it right. Two of their published email addresses bounced, and 24 hours later no one has replied, including the concierge who was so responsive before we arrived. You expect this at a cheap all-inclusive, not at nearly two grand a night. Book elsewhere.
My wife and I are world travelers. We've been to 100+ hotels and resorts over 5 continents all the way from Kite Camp where you literally stay in a Tent all the way to Island Resorts with Michelin Chefs. We review resorts based on cost perspective. Hilton currently has monopoly on Over the Water Bungalows due to Inter Continental being permanently shut down and Sofitel under renovation. The reason for low score is just utter lack of service. It's a beautiful resort on a beautiful location but the resort is run just like any other Hilton. A budget business travel HOTEL. No welcome towel, no welcome drink, no welcome music just a hello. Here is your key. Not enough bell hops so we had to drag our own luggage to our Over the Water Bungalow dodging golf carts for people who can't walk the small resort. No shaving kit, no slippers, no beach towels for the patio lounge chairs at our Bungalow. Staff is friendly enough when you meet them but it's no different from any Other Hilton HOTEL. This is unacceptable for a room that costs $1500-$2500 per night. Especially when there are such Great Resorts for the same cost just a hop away in Bora Bora. We give it an additional 1 star for it being a beautiful resort at a beautiful location and having Giant Clams in Curry on Sunday Brunch. We are just going to avoid all future HOLIDAY stays at Hiltons. We will stay for business but there are SO MANY better Resorts at the same cost as a Hilton.
As others have said, you are only paying for the Hilton name and location here. I would have been much happier with an Airbnb as Moorea is so beautiful on its own. Pros: the beach and snorkeling are nice but enough to occupy only a couple hours. The crepery is weird they only serve Crepes and drinks but a very nice place to sit out. Cons: the cost of this resort is so high for what you get. I would have so much rather stayed extra nights in Bora Bora. First time I’ve ever been denied late checkout as a Diamond for “availability” after being told we’d have it at check in. The rooms were ok, but nowhere did I see it’d be a duplex. The food was poor but cost the same as Bora Bora and only one worker came by to take our drink order in the whole 3 days we were there. Breakfast was included for us but absolutely not worth $60 each and housekeeping never came by our whole stay. Additionally, and this is a very minor note, the card system for towels etc, and many other small details really took away from a “luxury resort” vibe and the $1000 a night we paid. A lot of things just felt tacky and we spent a lot of our time off resort because of it. This is no doubt in a beautiful location, but the amenities and service were a huge miss for the price point and membership status. It just exists these days
