Alberto was very friendly, knowledgeable and went at our pace. So many interesting stories about Montevideo and Uruguay as well as good recommendations for the rest of the trip.

Thank you, Alberto. You were very friendly and knowledgeable. We both appreciate you giving your morning to us.
Excellent tour of the old town in Montevideo. Clear instructions received from Alberto on the meeting point and he proceeded to provide an informative and interesting 3 hour walking tour of the old town (where the cruise tour buses cannot reach!). English was very good and would highly recommend the tour.
My husband and I did a one day private tour of Montevideo with Gonzalo as our tour guide. He was excellent and I would highly recommend him. Responded immediately when we were pre-planning, and once there , he was prompt and courteous and very knowledgeable about a wide cache of information that would be of interest to anyone travelling to Uruguay for the first time . I would highly recommend this tour with this guide .
A wonderful introduction to the old town of Montevideo, filled with lots of local history. Alberto was very knowledgeable and answered all of our many questions and gave us many suggestions regarding how to spend our remaining time in the area. Would highly recommend!
My wife and I took a walking tour of, well, the Ciudad Vieja guided by Alberto. He is a great guy and a wonderful guide. He speaks English and Spanish. He showed us the obvious sites but also the hidden gems, such as the Museo Andes 1972, which "is dedicated to the story of the crash of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 in the Andes, involving a group of Uruguayan rugby players, their friends and relatives that were traveling to Chile when the airplane crashed." We visited it later. He also introduced us to the Cabaña Verónica restaurant in the Mercado del Puerto, where we dined in a superb manner and learned of Medio y Medio wine. Alberto charged us $60 total for the tour but it was worth much more.
Alberto was super nice and very knowledgeable about the city, with really cool stories and facts that you probably wouldnt get on another tour. He was also super flexible to go where we wanted to go and stop and eat. Great experience!!
We did a walking tour of the old city in Montevideo with Alberto. He was an excellent guide: very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, spoke excellent English, made many good recommendations for other things to do while in the city, etc. He knows the city and its history well and he brought it to life for us. He also did a great job of answering our many questions.
Alberto was fantastic! Very friendly and knowledgeable. W enjoyed learning about the street art in Montevideo.
Alberto was a charming tour guide. He kept in touch well before meeting up and was very reliable. His knowledge about all sorts of things was excellent and he knew the answers to all our questions. We felt we got a really good over view of the history of city.
Alberto was super informative and flexible in his tour. We were able to see everything that we wanted and learn all the history. He happily took great pictures of us at all the locations too. Alberto was great and spoke perfect English.
This tour was amazing! Our guide met us at our apartment and took us to the old city. He was interesting, knowledgeable, and friendly. Our family thoroughly enjoyed this tour and we highly recommend!
Alberto was great! Fluent English, very knowledgeable, and very friendly/nice. We went through Old Town and I enjoyed the tour!
The old city is worth walking around to see. We would appreciate more on the history and information of the buildings that we saw.
We did this tour back in November and we had a wonderful afternoon. Alberto is a very pleasant, fascinating , passionate and knowledgable guide. He met us at our hotel in the Cuidad Vieja section of the city and as we walked around the old neighborhood, he showed us so many interesting things that we would have never noticed without him. He had a wealth of information both on historical Montevideo as well as on the city's current affairs. I highly recommend this private walking tour when visiting Montevideo, especially if you are staying in the Cuidad Vieja neighborhood.
Alberto was a fantastic guide, extremely knowledgeable and very helpful in providing information about the city and how to get around. Excellent English and punctual. Highly recommend.
Group tour was cancelled unbeknownst to me. So chose this private tour last minute due to the time constraint. Very informative tour but pricey for a solo traveler. One’s choice.
Marco took us all the key sites in Buenos Aires and provided us with a good explanation of the history of the country, it’s politics and economic issues. He knew the great restaurants, and the best areas. Great job!
Great tour, highly recommended! Thank you Alberto for all the information you shared, it made me look at Montevideo with new eyes!
We had a lovely morning strolling through the city of Ciudad Vieja with our friendly, knowledge, wonderful guide, Alberto. We learned so much about the history of the city, plus we went at a comfortable pace that allowed us to visit and linger at the sites of most interest to us. I certainly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to get a feel for the area and all that it has to offer.
Our walking tour with Alberto was excellent. He lives in the area of the tour and it gives him extra knowledge and dedication to the history. We enjoyed not just the history but the architecture and the tiles made by a local, for the sidewalks where they break. Fun to see the sun tiles where famous people have their names, like Hollywood's star sidewalk. My son enjoyed the tour very much.
Alberto helped us see the city in a light we didn’t really expect. His tour was well structured and adjusted to our needs. His knowledge of the history of the city, as well as the Uruguayan nation is impressive. He left no question unanswered. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city.
Alberto was cool very accommodating Knowledgeable Easy fun tour history is great Old city and Mercado was a highlight !
Alberto was absolutely fantastic! It is clear he knows the city incredibly well! My family asks a lot of questions and he always had comprehensive answers! Super informative and definitely worth it during your stay in Montevideo!
My father and I had a great time on the tour! Our guide, Alberto, was very informative about the area. He was wonderful in regards to fielding questions, pausing when needed, and being on time (arriving and ending).
Excellent communication prior to our tour. The tour itself was very informative & a great way for us to see Montevideo.
We met our tour guide only a few blocks from the cruise port. Alberto was friendly and personable. He was a great communicator and answered all our questions, weeks prior to the tour. He is fluent in English and Spanish. We were a party of 3 and experienced a wonderful leisurely walking tour. We explored the interesting architecture of the town. He provided historical content to both the old and modern buildings that we were viewing. He spoke about the current trends in Uruguay. During our cruise we had selected 3 tours and this one was our favorite.
Our tour guide was excellent. He was from New York originally so very easy to understand. He was very knowledgeable about the area and was able to answer all our questions.
I did the tour on 24.2.23. Joanna was excellent. Lots of valuable information. She knows her work. Very approchable, every question had been answered successfully. Tour was in Spanish and Portuguese.
Alberto was a great guide. Lots of interesting info. He was a fountain of knowledge. It was a great introduction to the old city.
Alberto was a very knowledgeable guide. He was extremely attentive to my needs and made sure that the tour was indeed tailored to my interests. His English is perfect so I was able to understand everything!
My cruise ship only offered city tours on a bus, so I went looking for a walking tour of the historic district and found this tour. Alberto was awesome in communicating and working with me on when to meet up and what my interests were. I was not clear on the idea that this was a private tour so I was delighted to have Alberto as my private guide. Alberto speaks impeccable English which was a plus as an American. If you are looking for a walking tour I highly recommend this tour. He got me back to the ship right at all aboard, though my insistence to purchase a tee shirt after we parted had me running to the port!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our private guided walking tour of this fascinating city. Alberto is a knowledgeable and very personable guide who speaks excellent English. We booked the tour online to coincide with our day in port during a cruise. Alberto provided us with clear directions to the meeting place near the cruise terminal and was waiting for us at the agreed time. Over the course of a couple of hours or so walking we visited all of the interesting locations learning about the history and culture of this fascinating city. He was happy to answer all of our questions and he gave us an insider's view of life in the city which is his home. Excellent value for money.
This was one of the most joyful experience. Our guide, Carlos A. Franco Ruiz is very knowledgeable and interesting. He showed us aside from the regular sites, all these interesting places that are off the beaten track. All of us enjoyed his company and knowledge. Thanks Carlos.
A few months before our visit we booked an Old City half day tour with Alberto. We paid $50 total for the two of us via Paypal. Directions to the meeting point were clear and easy to follow, just about two blocks from the cruise port exit. Alberto was exactly on time. We had six people in our group (he said he limits groups to 10) and were able to hear his commentary throughout. We went through the Old City, a series of three public squares, and ended at the Plaza Independencia area with Teatro Solis and Palacio Salvo. Alberto was very knowledgeable about Montevideo's history and current goings-on. He grew up on Long Island in New York, so his English is perfect. We were very pleased with the experience.
I had the pleasure of being guided through the old city with Alberto. It's obvious he loves his city and his knowledge is comprehension and impressive. Having an history major at university adds An extra dimension of professionalism to his tour. i it's apparent that he has spent a great amount of time researching. He was full of interesting stories throughout the day. Throughout the tour he showed a phenomenal amount of enthusiasm and his professionalism. His evening tour, la Belle Époque Watch one of the most interesting activities I have taken in a very long time. If one loves the architecture of this period, the intriguing and fascinating environment of a Bohemium-style dinner club (with delicious food, fascinating environment, excellent wine, and a tango presentation) Alberto has put together is a must
Alberto is very knowledgable about Montevideo's history and made the tour very engaging. He was very flexible in terms of times and locations to start the tour, and very prompt in communications. Highly recommend the tour for those interested in learning more about Montevideo's rich history.
Alfredo is a very knowledgeable and interesting guide to the Old City of Montevideo. His love of history and his memory of pertinent details complement this beautiful city, and bring it alive. As a guide, he is generous and warm, and answered all my questions. I'm so glad I went on this tour with him. After it, I was oriented and explored the Old City on my own with ease and pleasure. Highly recommend this tour guide!
this was a perfect tour for us in Montevideo for the day from the cruise ship. Easy to find meeting point right by the old port market & cross the st. from the ship. Not too long of a tour but a great overview and insight into the city. Alberto is a great guy from NY & we really enjoyed our morning with him.
We booked this walking tour from a cruise ship. We meet only 2 blocks from the port. It was good to get a bit of history about Montevideo. Tour was about 2 hours. A fairly cheap and easy way to learn a bit about the city. English was good and very knowledgable.
Alberto is an excellent guide. We took 2 tours of old city and wineries and Puente Del Este next day. It really helps that he is native English speaker and grew up in New York so he can easily relate to what we may want or expect being from USA.
We enjoyed our day with Alberto..starting with walking tour of the old city, then auto tour of outside the city. In retrospect, wouldn't have missed much if we skipped the 2nd half of the day,as not a lot to see, compared with other cities we visited on this trip (Rio,Buenos Aires,Puerto Montt, etc). Alberto speaks fine English, easy to communicate, and willing to do whatever he can to make your trip memorable. Would recommend him.
I recommend this type of tour for a good 1st general sigthseeing. Is lovely to walk inside the historical area and our guide was a very nice woman with a lot of experience. A pitty we enjoyed her just for 1 hour. They are very well organised leaving at 11am and 3pm exactly. We did a tour in spanish with a translator for my group.
We had a tour booked with Bruno of MVD Tours that was cancelled due to family issues. He recommended Alberto and we were glad he did. Alberto was a very knowledgable, articulate young man who showed us why he loved Montevideo. To walk through the old town without the history and commentary by Alberto would have been a mistake. We made some stops we most likely would have missed if we were on our own. We at all times felt safe and comfortable in our surroundings. Yes much of this area is abandoned and that makes us sad. We learned that if you do not have your building occupied then you don't pay taxes. The up side is that If you own one of these old buildings they are not being torn down, but left to weather and one hopes at some time be restored and lived in again. We were a group of four and Alberto was able to tailor our visit to things that we expressed interest in.
Alberto is very informative and considerate throughout the tour. He stopped with us and spoke casually about the old city and its history. He is a great guide and made the experience a great part of our trip to Montevideo. The city is intriguing and has interesting nooks and corners throughout. You will enjoy this tour
I had arranged a walking tour for 14 people with another guide. When that guide's wife became ill, he recommended Alberto. I contacted him immediately and was assured that he was available for our group and would be provide a high quality tour. We were not disappointed. Alberto was waiting for us as we left the cruise ship. It was a beautiful day for a walking tour of Montevideo. Alberto showed up many wonderful sites, he was easy to understand and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour and Alberto.
We had a wonderful private tour with Alberto! Our walking tour included all historical sights in the city center as well as art and literary institutions--various artist museums, the artist district, libraries, and book shops. We also visited a few local neighborhoods that gave insight into areas outside the port area. The tour ended with a few beautiful city parks and the Museo Nacionel de Artes Visuales. The tour was not only a great introduction to Montevideo, but we had a better sense of the history and culture as well!
A fortunate accident: free tour in English. Good timing on my part. Guide was great. She knew her stuff. It was a great introduction to Montevideo and to Uruguay. Very Entertaining.
Thanks Alberto for a fantastic tour today. I got my own private tour and had the best time in my drumming lesson! Alberto is very hospitable and knowledgeable. Stumbled across International Day of Uruguayan Candombe which included drumming and dancing and lots of colour. Highly recommend this tour / company!
I was arriving into Montevideo from Punta del Este for one night, and figured a walking tour would be a great way to get a basic layout of the city. I had my hotel call Alberto and he said he would be at my hotel in two hours to take me around the city, perfect! Little did I know, I would be the only one on the tour since this was a slow time (before cruise ship season). He was very helpful in giving me a layout of the old city as well as explaining the history of the city. Thank you very much for your time!
