The overall experience was great. We were met by the tour guide and her guide -in-training. We began our tour in the old city which was spectacular. They showed so many insightful areas. We made a couple of stops and then headed towards the Rambla and stopped at a city park where we each received a box lunch prepared for us. It was delicious. Cookies, sweets, rolls, etc. We even shared a mate. We then headed back and exchange a hug and goodbye. We’d recommend this bike tour for anyone.
Great tour with Lara y Alexander.
We had the best time with Laura cycling around the Old Town. She is very knowledgeable and knows the history of the country and the city well. She gave us lots of tips about what to see and where to find special items. It was especially lovely to have the opportunity to eat lunch (which she provided) outdoors and chat with her. AND we had a lot of laughs throughout our time with her. A great day !!!
Great tour with a fantastic guide. Lara adjusted the tour to our interests and ability. Great way to learn abou Montevideo.
We met Valentina near the cruise terminal early on a Saturday morning in February. She led us to the bike store, pointing our the Art Deco buildings we passed. Our bikes were manuals but fine for the road conditions in Montevideo. We set off around the historic centre looking at the architecture, parks and culture. After that we went down and along the Rambla seafront for a cooler ride passing the beaches and waterfront. After suggesting a stop for a drink in a cafe, we cycled on till we found a shady park for a light picnic then returned to the start. Cycling in Montevideo is easy and on the Saturday we visited it was especially quiet. We would like to thank Valentina because she added so much more to our brief stay. She had very good language skills and knowledge of the city and went out of her way to make our tour enjoyable.
I had a lot of fun on this tour. It was very helpful for me to see a lot of Montevideo In a short period of time. Valentina was wla really good guide and she knows the city so well.
This was a fantastic way to get a feel for Montevideo. Lara, our guide, was extremely friendly and clearly knows what she is talking about. She took us to all the must-see sights and informed us about their background. She provided us with a great little picnic including the best empanadas ever and her own baked cake (also delicious - not sure she does that every tour!). We also drank mate as the Uruguayans do: a great experience. The (electric) bikes were new. All making for a great tour. We can thoroughly recommend this.
This tour was a great way to explore Montevideo. Valentina was friendly and informative. Cesar did a great job fixing a flat tire quickly when one of bikes got a flat, and sharing a mate with us.
We had a wonderful day with Valentina and Cecil. We had a great ride and only 2 incidents. One a flat tire and a new bike was delivered quickly and a chain came off and immediately put back on. I think it was a fluke because the bikes are newer. We stopped for our picnic and there was so much food. The empanadas were delicious, along with the homemade apple bread and other desserts. I would recommend the e-bike as when we were riding along the river it was windy and the e-bike personally helped me a lot. I would highly recommend this tour. It was a lot of fun.
Valentina was a very friendly and informative guide. Cesar helped out when one of the bikes got a flat tire and when my chain fell off, and also prepared the mate. The bike tour was a great way to explore Montevideo. Valentina also offered up some other activities for us to visit in the neighborhood of our hotel.
Great way to see the old town and learn the history of the country. Ride through the modern areas on the way to a beautiful ride on La Rambla along the beach. Since all the signage at the monuments and at the mausoleum of Jose Artigas is in Spanish, It would have been more informative if our guide had interpreted that informative for our group that did not speak Spanish. Also, as an experienced cyclist, better safety instructions for biking in a group through city streets should have been given for those who are not as familiar. Thank you for introducing us to the Mate drink custom!
Very nice owner and Guide. We saw the old city, the newer parts of the city the oceanfront, and went to a really nice park and had a little picnic.
I really enjoyed my bike tour with Valentina today. I was able to experience Montevideo and exercise at the same time! I saw historic sites and had lunch in a beautiful park. I highly recommend this experience
We had a great time with Touruguay Bike Tours. Our guide Valentina was charming, friendly and knowledgeable, and even though Montevideo is not the most bike friendly city, we felt perfectly safe following her. Bike tours are a great way to explore a city and Touruguay did not disappoint. Lara made the booking process simple and easy, the price was very reasonable and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Would absolutely recommend this to visitors to Montevideo.
We did this tour while on a cruise. It was a great way to tour the city highlights with a guide, including along the Rambla. We opted for e-bikes and were glad we did as it was quite windy along the water. The snacks provided were very tasty as well.
Valentina was an amazing tour guide. The pace of tour was relaxed even though we saw so much. Valentina helped me figure out some other plans for my week too. The bike was comfortable.
This was an excellent way to learn of the history of Uruguay combined with a fun way of exploring the city. Valentina is an excellent guide, knowledgeable with a lovely sense of humour. Great fun!
Lara and Valentina were the best. They provided easy directions to meet them and provided a great tour. We updated to E-bikes and which make the tour even more memorable as were we able to see both old town and enjoy the breach front promenade. we've fallen in love with Montevideo and can't wait to come back. TLunch was delicious. Thanks for a delightful day.
We arrived early and were warmly greeted by Lara and Valentina. The bicycles were in excellent shape, but due to a health condition it became apparent my husband wouldn't be able to ride, and thusly I couldn't either. The staff was so very compassionate and did not make us feel bad about a last minute cancel. They even refunded our ticket which is above and beyond. We heard from others that the ride was amazing. Next time! The communication before our outing was excellent as well, keeping us updated and excited!. Highly recommend!
wonderful tour, the guide was very knowledgeable with Uruguayan history and spoke perfect English. Everyone was very friendly and kind!
Wonderful tour with the amazing Valentina. Got a chance to see the whole city with occasional stops and a delicious picnic along the way. But the true highlight was Valentina! Funny smart and made us feel so welcome
What a fabulous way to see Montevideo! Lara was in touch with information about our meeting place and everything worked out perfectly. We are three seventy year olds and the ebikes made the tour easy and enjoyable. Valentina , our guide took us first to the key sites in the old town and then along las ramblas by the ocean to a picnic in a lovely park. Special local desserts were boxed individually for us. Lara even baked one of the items. The three and a half hours flew by. Valentina was knowledgeable and had excellent English. A great way to see this beautiful city.
It was a great private tour through Montevideo with Valentina, she is very knowledgeable about the city, and I finally got to have some mate during the picnic.
This is a great tour to learn about Montevideo and see the city. Being on a bike is worlds better than lurching around on a tour bus and much quicker than walking. The picnic spot was beautiful and the lunch was better than expected. Tour operator and owner is very friendly.
Right pace and distance. Accommodated additional sights without any complaint. Safe and pleasant. Lara was great. Bikes fitted well.
We had a fantastic bike tour - there was just the 4 of us in our group with our guide Lara which was nice - another 4 in another group. It was personal and we learned much about Uruguay and Montevideo as we cycled around town seeing beautiful buildings and stopping to learn about them and the history. We also went on to cycle along the sea front - some of us had chosen e-bikes - which was nice! And a picnic with homemade sandwich and cake with the traditional mate to try. Lara was really helpful as well as knowledgeable, friendly and fluent in our language - a joy to spend time with her and I cannot recommend her and her company enough
Wow!!!! What a fabulous trip. There were actually 8 people but the group was split in 2 so that gave a really personal excursion. Lara is a fabulous tour guide. Her commentary on all our different stops was engaging & very interesting. There was time for photos & Lara took some video of us cycling as a group which was a nice touch. Lara was very aware of our time restraints and we did everything. I really enjoyed the experience of trying the social drink of Mate and her home made sandwiches and delicious apple cake that Lara made - yum! Lara was happy to tweak the tour when things came up - for example one of the party had the opportunity to play speed chess when we were in the park, having our picnic and it was absolutely fine to Lara. Also we skipped one stop in order to do 2 other things that we really had an interest in.
Definitely go with the E bike on this tour. Lara was great in letting us change our mind when we got there. Valentina was our charming guide. Fun town and bike experience!!
Nice and interesting tour with Valentina. She speaks perfect English, some German too and knows a lot of interesting things about the capital of Uruguay. Never a dull moment during those 4 hours. Bikes are in good shape and Valentina is a fantastic guide. 5 Stars well deserved. Thank you for this wonderful day.
A great way to see Montevideo in a half day. Lara’s communication pre tour was excellent and Valentina, our guide was, funny, laid back, informative and great company.
A great way to see Montevideo in half a day. Lara’s communication pre tour was excellent and Valentina, our guide, was funny, laid back, informative and great company.
Great way to see the downtown of Montevideo - plus put some miles in along the river front. Lara was very nice and very informative.
Lara was an amazing tour guide! The 5 of us had the most enjoyable experience touring Montevideo with her on her fabulous e-bikes! We even had the chance to try Mate, something we all wanted to do before leaving the old city. The snack she provided was delicious. Our adult children were overjoyed with the experience. We all highly recommend Lara and her team at Touruguay! A must on your journey while in Montevideo!
It was only about eight blocks from the cruise port. Although the cafe is a reference point, the actual parking garage with the bikes is about half block downhill towards the port from the cafe. I’m so glad this tour now has the option of electric bikes and I would advise you to take that option. The e-bikes are new and much needed.
I went on this tour with my husband and a group of friends, and everyone had a wonderful experience! It was truly one of our favorite moments in Montevideo. From the moment Lara greeted us in the morning with beautifully packaged snacks and the bikes ready to go, we knew we were in great hands. We had a lovely picnic, and we really enjoyed learning about the city’s history and architecture at a high level. The balance was perfect, just enough culture and exploration to really get to know Montevideo. Lara was fun to be with and made our tour feel like we were hanging out with a friend, so everyone was relaxed and had a great time. I promise this won’t be like any cookie-cutter tour you’ve done before. Highly recommended!
I have been on many bike tours in my travels and this one was about the best. Our guide Valentina was knowledgeable, charming and full of energy for her city and country. She also supplied refreshing water and sandwiches for the group and local custom mate! Montevideo is an almost perfect place for a bike trip as it is flat and much of the journey hugs the waterfront along the city’s fabulous Rambla. I am in my 60s and others on the trip were in their 20s. I mention this to point out that this trip is for everyone; all ages, tourists, cruisers, athletes and those who just like to experience a place they visit close up. To All: Go for it:
Had an amazing tour in both Spanish and English with Valentina. She's an excellent guide and the little picnic break on the rambla was perfect. The bike was also in excellent condition. Highly recommend.
Engels This was our first time visiting Montevideo via a cruise, and this tour is definitely recommended if you visit Montevideo! The meeting point is less than a 10-minute walk from the cruise terminal. Valentina spoke fluent English and we saw the nicest places and ate delicious local delicacies. Also received a lot of information! Highly recommended to discover Montevideo in a short time! The contact with Lara in advance was also very nice! TIP: if you really want to surprise them, bring them a typical Dutch delicacy, “ drop “ or stroopwafels ;)
I had a fantastic bike tour with Valentina as my guide! She was very friendly, spoke excellent English, and had a great deal of knowledge about the area. I really appreciated how she listened and responded thoughtfully to my questions and interests. The e-bike was also of excellent quality and made the ride super comfortable. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to explore the region in a fun and informative way!
What a delightful time we had biking through Montevideo with Lara and her excellent team! Covering the history of the nation from Pre-columbian times to the present day, we learned about how Uruguay rose to be the progressive and economically stable nation it finds itself today. The monuments and architecture of the old town gave a perfect background for the history lessons. The ride down the Rambla at beachside, offered views of the River and lovely beaches adorned with colorful murals and beachside parks. We then stopped for lunch at a central park filled with fountains, benches and tables created from tile mosaic. In this relaxing location, we shared stories and learned about each other's cultures. The whole experience culminated in a shared drink of Mate, a local favorite.
We had a fantastic tour of Ciudad Vieja (Old Town) and La Rambla, Montevideo with Lara. Lara was lovely and very well informed about the history of Uruguay and built in lots of mini breaks at historic landmarks. The ride along La Rambla finished with a lovely picnic that Lara supplied including delicious homemade cake. I thought the added extras such as bringing the local ‘tea’ called Mate in the traditional cups for us to try was a real treat and very thoughtful. As a slightly older, less practised cyclist I kept up as Lara set the pace well. Thanks Lara, we loved our tour.
We did an amazing bike tour with Touruguay. It was very fun, interesting and educational. We cycled in the Old town and after we went to the Rodó Parc, where we enjoyed some typical Uruguayan snacks. We returned cycling alongst the Rambla. The wether was amazing and we totally enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of Montevideo. This tour was the perfect way to discover the city in a fun way! Don't miss it!!!
Very enthusiastic guide Vivi provides a fun and interesting introduction to Montevideo by bike. Recommendation!
Booked via Bajabikes at toururguay. Fast service, very attentive. Dutch owner. Dutch guide for cycling. Blissful lunch with Yerba Mate. Great way to explore Montevideo.
We loved the tour!! Lara is very pleasant, and she was accompanied by Alexander (very helpful too!!). She thinks about everything: from water for us, to the snack (fresh and delicious empanadas, which she picked up on the way). The information provided was valuable, and the places visited, besides the "tourist" ones, were also very local, and that we would hardly have access to. The bikes are comfortable and of good quality (including electric bikes are available). I highly recommend it!!!
Fun bike ride through Montevideo with Dutch guide with lunch with local snacks and drinks. We had regular bike, fine to do. Nice way to see and learn something about the city in a short time!
We had a wonderful bike ride with the Dutch speaking guide Lara! During the tour we saw a lot of the city. Lara not only knew a lot about the history of the city, but also about all kinds of other interesting things, such as the different birds we encountered along the way. Her enthusiasm and knowledge made the tour extra fun and educational. Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to discover the city in a fun and relaxed way!
This is a must do in Montevideo for anyone who can cycle! Just returned from a very nice bike tour of Montevideo. Very good guide, fantastic explanation and good bikes. Learned a lot and enjoyed all the stories. A good way to get to know the old town in a short time!
Really a super experience this tour. First a 3 hour walking tour through old town Montevideo done. Lara really knows a lot about the city and its history. She showed us a lot of beautiful places. Highly recommended. Then we went cycling along the ramblas along the sea. The weather was lovely and many a beautiful place seen and experienced. Had a great day all in all. Thx a lot Lara 👍🏻👍🏻🫶🏻
