We were met by our driver/guide right on time and where he said they would be. We were there on a Sunday. So the good news is there was no traffic, and no crowds at all. At times, it was like visiting a ghost town, which makes it hard to get a real feel for the city. But the operator has no control over that. It is a beautiful city. We did get to see what were the citys high lights. Guide was very knowledgable on the history of the city and country. Very enjoyable and would highly recommend.

Arrived at Montevideo on a cruise ship and pre-booked this private tour. The driver/Guide Andrea pick us up at the cruise terminal and he is excellent and speak fluent English. We really have a wonderful time to see all the attractions in Montevideo. Strongly recommended and I can only summarize my experience in one word - Excellent.
We had a wonderful time in Montevideo with our guide, Andres. He showed us the city in a friendly and hospitable way. The tour van was luxurious and very spacious. We saw the city’s main sights, tried traditional mate, and had a lunch with perfect Uruguayan asado and beef. I highly recommend this tour to all visitors of Montevideo. It is especially convenient for cruise passengers since it starts right from the port.
Paulo was an excellent tour guide who was patient, friendly, knowledgeable, and excellent at providing the history of the city and Uruguay. His van was well-equipped, with excellent legroom for everyone. After four hours, I felt we had a much better understanding of the city, its people, and Uruguay's history. The pace was perfect for three seniors who are not particularly active. I would highly recommend this tour for a brief but excellent introduction to Montevedio.

Guide is located outside of main gate which was a bit of a walk to meet him. Tour was very good and he was very informative. He should us the city highlights and the ride was comfortable.
Wonderful trip in Montevideo with Andres and Blanco tours. Andres was beyond insightful and accommodating. He took us to a great local restaurant where we had an unbelievable meal and Uruguayan wine! Completely accomodated my family and was a great tour guide. Definitely recommend Andre’s and his tour company in Montevideo!!
Great experience with Andrés. Kept in touch with us days before arrival. He was very kind and knowledgeable of the history of Montevideo. Took us to all the places mentioned in the itinerary and gave us time to do some shopping. Then as per our request dropped us at the Mercado del Puerto to have lunch and some time on our own before boarding the cruise ship. Kudos to Andres Blanco!
Really enjoyed this tour. Guide was friendly, informative and flexible. The lunch recommendation was really good as well. Would highly recommend this tour company for future groups.
Outstanding experience. Great communication, flexible, punctual, knowledgable and friendly. Highly recommend this private tour with Andres and Blanco Tours
Andres was an excellent guide .very knowledgable. He was able to make it a very interesting and enjoyable tour. He was very professional in all aspects of our trip . His vehicle was absolutely ideal for our party .
Andres was a great tour guide . Very conscious of our needs and kept in touch from before the trip started. Very punctual and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble for him. His vehicle was immaculate and exactly the vehicle to do this tour . I would highly recommend Blanco Tours .At the end of the day we felt we friends . Would thoroughly recommend .
We had a great private tour!!!! Both the driver and the guide truly understood our group and worked very hard to successfully give us the perfect tour!! I would highly recommend you sing them for your outing! They will make it perfect for you!
Our private group of 14 passengers from the HAL cruise ship had the pleasure of spending the day touring Montevideo and Bodega Bouza vineyard with Andres and Belen. We arranged our tour directly with Andres 6 months prior to the cruise, and he was able to customize the tour to accommodate all of our requested stops. It was an extremely comprehensive and enjoyable day of touring topped off by delicious tapas and wine tasting. Highly recommended!
You get see a lot in these 4 hours. The guide Pablo was extremely knowledgeable and customized the tour for us. He was pleasant and had a good sense of humor. The vehicle was comfortable and suitable for our group. I would highly recommend.
Communication prior to our excursion was outstanding and set the right tone. Andres met us promptly at 9:00am as expected. The city tour was fantastic and so enjoyable! Andres was so informative and friendly with excellent English which made the tour so memorable. He allowed us to input on what we wanted to see and tailored our tour for a great experience of the city. From the onset, as the owner of the company, Andres wants your experience to be as friends would enjoy spending the day together. The van with huge windows for our group of four was new and extremely comfortable. Do not hesitate to book this tour. Andres is outstanding and a true ambassador for the beautiful city of Montevideo!
Montevideo, our first visit to this city in Uruguay. Pablo, from Blanco Tours, was our guide. He was friendly and very informative. Zabala Square was our first stop. There is a monument of the founder of Montevideo. We then visited the Plaza Matriz, which has the first potable water fountain. There was also a market to shop. The cathedral was closed so we didn’t get to see the inside. The lookout, Mirador Panoramico, showed us a panoramic view of entire city. The Plaza Independencia had a mausoleum and monuments, honoring Jose Artigas, the country’s hero. An adjacent street was accessed though the entry arch of the original city walls. We watched street performers dancing the Tango. We saw a beautiful beach and grassy area filled with little parrots. We then stopped at the stadium of Uruguay’s National Team futbol team. They hosted the first World Cup here in 1930 and won! I loved stopping at the Mercado Agricola. It was a great food hall. Having a beer there was a relaxing stop. We ended the tour with a stop outside of the Congress Building. We were lucky to see so much of this city in a short amount of time.
Jaime was the best- we had a wonderful day and Jaime brought the city to life for us-an excellent tour guide and excursion.
This is the second time we've toured Montevideo with Blanco Tour Uruguay. Belen was out guide the first time and did such a great job we requested her for this visit with friends who had never been to Montevideo. They were all really happy with her and said if they ever get back, they'll use the same company. She's very knowledgeable and very accommodating to any requests to see a sight or do a little shopping. She allowed enough time at each stop explain the significance and was able to answer all of our questions!
We had a wonderful time in Montevideo and this tour touches all the bases! It was informative, covered a wide range of history and fun! Highly recommend!
Tour was not personalized. We specifically asked for local flair and said we weren’t interested in buildings or museums. Most of time was taken up by both. Guides English was mediocre. Highlight was seeing the football stadium. Wish we would have spent time in old time instead of new portion of city looking at buildings and museums
was full of information of history and beautiful sites. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable. We had the chance to go to a public building where we had a view of the whole city which was beatiful
After researching the options for tours in Montevideo through Viator, we decided to book a tour through Andres and Blanco Tour Uruguay. We certainly made the right choice because he gave us a great overall experience in the city. It was a perfect combination of walking, driving and free time. It is obvious that he is proud of his business and treats his clients with lots of enthusiasm and a friendly attitude. A perfect combination of history and scenic opportunities. Due to our ship schedule, we didn't have a long time to spend with him, but what time we had was well spent and made us very happy with seeing the most that we could. We highly recommend this tour and would do it again.
The tour was amazing! Extremely knowledgeable guide. Very punctual at the meeting point. This was our third time in Montevideo and this tour truly highlighted all there is to see here. We highly recommed this agency and tour. It is worth every penny!
Our cruise ship arrived late into the Port of Montevideo, but Andres of BlancoTours was already in communication with me, assuring us that he was patiently waiting. The tour van was immaculate and very comfortable. Andres was an excellent guide and also a safe and attentive driver. We learned a great deal about the history of Uruguay. Andres took us to several of the significant sites in the Capital City, and we were able to customize the time we wanted to spend in those places. Andres returned us to our cruise ship with time to spare. First-rate tour - we HIGHLY recommend it!
Very knowledgeable tour guide and had a great time in montevideo. He gave us detailed history of Montevideo and took us to place where we had best empanadas.
Andrs (tour operator owner) delivered the experience just as advertised in the excursion description. It was just Andrs, my wife and I in his new Hyundai minivan. Andrs is fluent in English and is a worthy guide for Montevideo. We learned much about Uruguay and Montevideo history. I won't spoil the surprise of the 'hidden code' in the Montevideo name. You will have to ask him for yourself. One item of note that is NOT covered in the tour description is the fact that the tour length is dependent on the number of clients on the tour. We thought--rightly or wrongly--that it was a 7-hour tour. As we had only two, the designated length was 4 hours. We paid additional money to extend the tour by another 2 hours to cover a lunch period (with a very big and delicious meal) at our own expense and other locations.
Pablo was excellent and we had a Great Time. Great English and very knowledgeable of the area. Would highly recommend!
This was a great experience. Daniel and Belen were great. Belen speaks English and brings you to a great panoramic view of the city that is really great.
Great tour. Andres was very personable and knowledgeable. He picked us up on time and organized the tour very well. Highly recommend him and Blanco tours.
I've travelled and met guides and tour operators around the globe... but our guide, Jaime Gutierrez, was different. He was simply magnificent. He was there at the pier earlier and ready to meet us. He is a positive, happy, full of life person that will brighten anyones day. He loves his country and is a bundle of information and passion rolled up in one. He goes out of his way to ensure you are comfortable and is very systematic in his approach.... he is also a good photographer and will tell you the best spots to take a photo. We started our day at the pier and took photos at the metal art at the Port. Then, we drove to the sites in the old town starting at the Zabala square, where a beautiful sculpture of Bruno Mauricio de Zabala, Captain General of Spain adorns its centre, followed by the Fountain at the plaza of the constitution, which apparently is the oldest square in Montevideo. Tried some local matte herbal drink here, then we headed to the independence Square and the theatre, and on toward Plaza del Entrevero, which has a beautiful statue and fountain that pays homage to anonymous heroes of days gone by. Then, we headed to the legislative assembly for a photo stop. Had a coffee break at the Mercado Agricolo and wandered in the beautiful marketplace. Picked up some snacks and souvenirs here. Tried some nice mustard flavoured roasted corn that was very tasty. Then, we drove through the Ramblas and onto the beach for a photostop at the beach near the famous Montevideo sign. Drove through some good classy neighbourhoods and had an incredible lunch at The Garcia restaurant, the steak, lamb chops and the chimichurri was fantastic. Tried a nice Uruguayan malbec, which was very good. Downed it with some pancakes filled with dulce de leche. Then, we walked across to the Sofitel Casino and continued stroll towards The Stella Maris Cathedral. We then had a coffee stop at the Arocena bar and encountered some Argentinians and exchanged some nice pleasantries with them. Drove past the holocaust memorial and on to The Mercato del puerto - The flea market and food stalls. Bought some more souvenirs here and tried a local drink... a small shot of something forgot the name it was lemon flavoured and then walked back to our cruise. Overall a nice day out, definitely deserving of a return trip. The tour company and Jaime are a lot to shout about. Felt very satisfied and fulfilled and got a bang for our buck. The days tour walking involved around 8000 steps.
We were a group of 14 and thoroughly enjoyed our tours in Uruguay with Andres of Blanco Tours. He was punctual, knowledgeable and informative of the sites, made great suggestions for lunch and was personable and entertaining. Wonderful day trips when cruise in port. The vehicle was clean and comfortable for all.. would recommend him to anyone planning a shore excursion
Our guide Andres was absolutely amazing. He treated us like family. His knowledge and passion was refreshing and invigorating. We do private tours to experience the behind the curtain culture and to try engage with the locals as much as we can. Andres exceeded our expectations. We really feel like we got the grand tour.
Our guide Andre's from Blanco Tours was courteous, fun, and accommodating. The city is vibrant and full of history and culture. We all had a great tour experience.
Fascinating, comprehensive tour with Andres, and extremely knowledgeable guide, in a very comfortable van. My friends, husband and myself had a great experience, totally recommendable. We visited the old town with its characteristic architecture, Artigas Mausoleum, Plaza de Toros, Sculpture Park, Mercado de Los Artesanos. Great visit!
Andres was amazing! His minibus was clean and spacious for all 8 of us! He was extremely knowledgeable in the history of Montevideo and Uruguay. He was accommodating and took us everywhere we requested. The restaurant he took us to for lunch was spectacular and the food was great! It was in a private area with amazing service! He took us shopping and catered to our requests for sites and places to go. He took us to the historical areas and new areas explaining everything as went along. He stopped at any site of requested so we could visit and take pictures. Would give him 10 stars if possible. I highly recommend him.
Andres was a wonderful and patient guide. Our ship experienced some delays in letting us off the ships but Andres waited at the port and provided photos to help guide us when we disembarked. Andres took us to a few of the location attractions and provided us with some information about the city and its history. We were provided with some free time to go visit the local attractions. Andres was able to accommodate our group of 6 after our initial guide had to cancel on us 2 weeks before the scheduled tour date.
Our tour guide, Andres was fantastic. He was very informative, very assisting and extremely accommodating to our group. Superb knowledge of his country and provided us with a large, clean vehicle. A very pleasant day with Andres and highly recommend him for tourists in his country!!’ Thank you Andres!!
We saw many stops getting out at most but it was the narrative provided by our guide that made all the difference. He made history come alive in a place I knew nothing about. Fun day.
Great communication from time of booking through the morning of arrival with Andres, even with our changing travel time. Assigned guide was Mauro who was friendly, knowledgeable and flexible to account for our tour preferences. Couldn’t have had a more pleasant few hours. Thank you!!
I really recommend this tour for cruise passengers. Our guide picked us up in a private car, showed us Montevideo and brought us back to the terminal. He was very knowledgeable and professional. Olga from California
My husband and I booked the Best Private and Personalized City Tour in Montevideo for cruise passengers as we had never been to that city. I was able to stay in contact with the tour operator through WhatsApp which gave me an extra layer of comfort. Our tour guide Alvaro picked us up on time right outside of the cruise terminal. His English was great and he was very knowledgeable about the city. Everywhere we went, someone knew him! He spoke about the history of his city, showed us the old town, the historical rich area, government buildings, beautiful architecture, and of course all of the main attractions. We also escaped the downtown area for a bit and explored the beautiful beaches and the area where many of the embassies are located. Overall we were very happy with this tour and because of the personalized aspect of it, we were able to venture and see areas that appealed to us more. I believe that we got to see double the amount of attractions and probably learnt more about the history and day-to-day life of Uruguay than any tour we would have booked on the ship. Alvaro dropped us off at the Meat Market where we tried some of the local BBQ before we headed back onto the ship. We arrived with plenty of time to spare and enjoyed the entire day. Thank you Andres and Alvaro for everything.
Andres, our driver/guide, is the owner of the company. His van is roomy and comfortable for 8 of us with lots of extra seats. He spent 4 solid hours with us, helped us find rest rooms, showed us how to shop in an indoor marketplace. We enjoyed his hospitality and company.
Our guide did a fantastic job showing us around Montevideo. I use a mobility scooter and they made sure I could get around the city and see the sites. We loved hearing all about the local culture, history, architecture and people. Would like to come back and see more of this city.
Great tour. The guide was very enthusiastic and a great promoter of Montevideo and Uruguay. He was flexible with our preferences. We had a great time.
My husband and I had a wonderful tour with Jaime Gutierrez Castro. He was very knowledgeable and we visited many areas of Montevideo. We were even able to get up close to areas of the city getting ready for the Inauguration of the new President. He was very knowledgeable of the history of the city and the country. I would highly recommend him.
Not sure where to start. Our guide was nice and knowledgeable . His English was hard to understand . He was very interested in talking and we really wanted to see as many places as we could in a few short hours. Driving - did not stop at stop signs and drove in the middle of 2 lanes . 😢
We had Andres for our Personal tour for our 4 people > Andres was knowledgeable, attentive, very kind, and took us everywhere we wanted. He showed us local stadiums, different local neighborhoods, the beaches, the downtown, old city, local foods, and shopping. HE was at the gangway to meet me. He even provided his contacts for tours in Buenos Aires. Excellent . We recommened him
Excellent tour. Comprehensive tour of the main attractions of Montevideo. Our guide Andres was very knowledgeable and offered very pertinent comments throughout the tour. We never felt rushed and had plenty of time to wander around.
Guide was pleasant but not well informed. The places he took us were pretty basic an we could have seen on our own. Was looking for a more inside look at the city. Also we paid for 9:00-1:30 and we were dropped back at the ship at 12:00.
