Amazing view. Impeccable. Rooms very nice, no air conditioning, but rooms cooled by mountain air. Can get chilly at night. HOTEL grounds are gorgeous. Nicer restaurant in middle of hotel very good food and wine selection. Steak dinner with truffle sauce was fantastic.

While the breakfast was decent, the property itself felt poorly maintained, outdated, and significantly overpriced at $350 a night for the off-season. The rooms were dimly lit and felt stark and uninviting due to bare, poorly finished walls. Essential items like a basic table or chair were completely missing, and the lack of air conditioning made the space quite uncomfortable. To top it off, the window blinds failed to block out the morning sun, and we dealt with a faulty toilet that required constant maintenance calls throughout our stay. The value simply doesn't match the price. Also all the buildings with good views were closed for repairs.
Our experience at El Establo Mountain Hotel was unfortunately not as positive as we had hoped. To begin on a positive note, the front desk staff were friendly, kind, and professional throughout our stay. They handled our concerns with understanding, which we genuinely appreciated. However, the accommodations themselves were less than satisfactory. While our room was located at the top of the property and did offer a beautiful view, the overall condition was disappointing. The drive up to the building was very steep, which may be manageable by car but would likely be quite challenging for anyone needing to walk to and from amenities such as the restaurant. Parking near our building was limited, and no assistance was offered with luggage upon arrival. When we entered our building, it felt dark and somewhat uninviting. Inside the room, we immediately noticed maintenance concerns. The tongue and groove ceiling appeared to be significantly deteriorated and bowing downward, with what looked like black mold around the edges. The walls were also very thin, and we could clearly hear guests on both sides, which impacted the overall comfort of our stay. Additionally, the bathtub did not appear to be thoroughly cleaned. We had originally planned to stay for two nights, but based on the steep layout of the property, noise levels, and concerns about the condition and upkeep of the room, we decided to book an alternate hotel for our second night. We did share our concerns with the front desk after returning from dinner. The staff were understanding and did offer to move us to another room, as well as pass our feedback along to management. Given the late hour, we chose instead to stay the night and check out in the morning. The following morning, we felt somewhat rushed during our departure. Housekeeping staff were waiting outside our room around 9:00 AM while we were still packing, despite check out being at 11:00 AM, which felt a bit uncomfortable. Upon checking out, we were surprised that management did not offer any form of follow up such as a partial refund, a meal, or even a direct apology, despite the concerns raised. All communication appeared to be handled through the front desk team, who remained professional throughout what was clearly a difficult situation. This resort may be well suited to larger tour groups, as it is quite expansive and busy. However, due to the steep terrain, size of the property, and overall atmosphere, it may not be ideal for guests with mobility challenges or for couples seeking a quieter, more intimate experience. While we appreciated the kindness of the front desk staff, based on our experience, this would not be a property we would personally return to or recommend for those looking for a peaceful, boutique style stay.
Had a great stop over here for a few days. Hotel was great, facilities good and overall the place impressed. Shuttle service is a great addition. The restaurant isn't worth the money. Overpriced, underserviced and the food wasn't up to standard. Breakfast can be busy, especially if your on a tour make sure you get in early or you could have a wait for a table. Rooms have no A/C but they way they are designed and built into the hill keeps them cool.
Best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The views are simply extraordinary. The layout of the whole place is very clever, it runs like a slick shop and the staff are all professional. The breakfast and restaurant food is good. Gym has everything you need and the swimming pool is a decent size. Would absolutely stay again and hope to come back. You can also do lots of activities like trail and zip lien - we did the zip line with the hotel and it was incredible.
