My husband and I love birdwatching (and food, and well-designed spaces) and we traveled here so 1) we could relax and take a screen break and 2) so I could about birds and birding in this area. We try to stay in places that do more good than harm in their communities and their ecosystems, which is a rare thing in the hospitality industry, and this place checked our boxes.

My husband and I just returned from a weeklong stay at Hotel Belmar and cannot recommend it enough. We stayed in a Peninsula Superior room and absolutely loved it. The views were stunning, the grounds were beautiful, and every part of our stay felt thoughtful and well cared for. We were really looking for a getaway where we could sink into our surroundings and fully relax. We weren’t in Monteverde for a packed itinerary or lots of adventure, and Hotel Belmar ended up being exactly what we needed to unwind from our busy NYC lives. We swam in the pond every day, which became our own little refreshing cold plunge, and then warmed up in the jacuzzi afterward. We spent so much time sitting on our balcony and simply taking in the views, and loved that the hotel made it easy to have days where we didn’t need to go anywhere at all. Breakfast every morning was such a delight, and we also really enjoyed the main restaurant and the brewery. We caught live music twice during our stay, took yoga classes, had a wonderful massage, and honestly just loved spending time on the property. One night when we felt like staying in, the staff even helped us arrange Indian takeout from town. Every single staff member we interacted with was warm, kind, and attentive, and we felt incredibly taken care of throughout the week. We also booked two activities through the hotel, the Farm Tour and the Savia Immersion/Birdquest, and thoroughly enjoyed both. They felt intimate, thoughtful, and really well tailored to what we were looking for. The hotel also organized our transfers to and from the airport, which made our travel days feel so much easier and less stressful. If you’re looking for somewhere beautiful, peaceful, welcoming, and restorative in Monteverde, Hotel Belmar is such a special place. We loved our stay and already can’t wait to go back!

Is one of the highlights of Monteverde. The brewery and restaurant offer outstanding food, craft beer, and a warm atmosphere. Watching the sunset from the terrace with panoramic mountain views is an unforgettable experience. The staff is welcoming, the property is beautifully maintained, and every detail reflects their commitment to quality and sustainability. A place we would gladly visit again.

This place is divine. Nestled in the cloud forest with sheek interior design, wood finishes, and luxe amenities. We stayed here 2 days with the full family - 3 kiddos and my parents. I wish i could have stayed. From the greeting agua sapo, to the farm to table food, to the microbrewery and beer tasting, to the boutique soaps, to the live music and excellent staff and grounds - eveything was outstanding. Their breakfast french toast made with banana bread was scrumptious.
