We don’t want to go another day without thanking our tour leader, Lauradona. She was delightful, spoke English very well and was extremely polite and accommodating during the whole tour. There were just 4 of us, 2 couples, so we were able to move along quickly while asking lots of questions. We wound our way through Modena for over 3 ½ hours but the time flew! We had already been in the area for a few days but still found new streets and areas we hadn’t discovered before. Her charts and maps were extremely helpful to explain the region and why certain foods were from the area. She added some personal touches which made us feel like locals. A highlight of the day was the food market, good thing we ended there! Thank you very much for making our last day in Modena so special. 5 Stars!!

A very informative stroll around Modena. Great lesson on balsamic vinegar with a thorough tasting of different ages and styles. Several stops along the way with chances to try the local flavors. Loredana was an amazing guide, so friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this experience.
My son and I had wonderful tour in Modena tasting great food and enjoying tasting the aged Balsamic Vinegar Roberta our guide was terrific and gave us great in sights to the town and food.
Roberta was absolutely wonderful! We had a blast. Modena is a fabulous city to walk around and enjoy. Everyplace we went, the food we tried was a treat! Highly recommend!
Loredana was a wonderful guide. Super knowledgeable and fun. Very accommodating to any food allergies and preferences. My husband and I came from Florence to Modena just for this tour and were not disappointed. Highly recommend!
This was a fantastic food tour of Modena including a very special breakfast and memorable balsamic tasting. Our guide, Loredana was excellent. So friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend. Very easy to travel to Modena from Bologna by train.
Lori was a wonderful guide and she took us to many great places that we wouldn’t have found in our own. I appreciate that it was a small group. Thank you!
This food tour was exceptional. Wandering the streets of Modena, an insight into the history, and stopping at different locations for sampling of local food was incredibly good. We were introduced to a wide range of foods, and the markets visit was fantastic. Such high quality food and variety, coupled with the knowledge and expertise of our guide was excellent. Would highly recommend the tour for those wanting to sample local and regional foods,
Spent the day in Modena with Lori who was absolutely wonderful. Gnocco frito , wines Parmesan , tagelle and modena glaze , and vinegar. Highly recommend!
A wonderful and engaging tour. We had an excellent time, and the food is delicious. The tour guide is very kind and knowledgeable.
1. Our guide, Roberta, was knowledgeable, prompt and energetic. 2. Diverse introduction to the foods of the city. Cheese, pastry and balsamic of various ages. 3. Learned so much! Absolutely recommend to anyone visiting!
Loredana was a very charming and experienced guide. Lots of tasty food stops and at pretty slow pace on a hot day in Modena. Market, cafe, balsemica shop and a gelati shop. Loredana was very kind and caring for all the people in our group including two small children.
We had a really lovely, full and exciting food tour with our guide Loredana. In total we were with 6 persons. The places we visited, the food and wine we tasted, all great. Loredana was very knowlegde-able and we could ask her all kinds of questions. All in all a great experience in a lovely group.
The tour was absolutely fantastic. Our guide made the whole experience even better. She was very kind, knowledgeable, and she had everything super well planned. We only had 1 day in Modena and I can’t recommend this tour enough, we enjoyed every moment of it!
Very friendly and knowledgable guide. Great pace keeping everyone involved. Tasted heavenly food bites. Well worth the time and money.
Laurie was a wonderful guide and the tour was great! It was informational, the food was good, and we learned quite a bit about Moderna food culture, as much as we could in an afternoon. The route of the tour itself was fine but it was our guide that really made it entertaining and educational! Very enjoyable I definitely recommend. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star review because it IS quite pricey for what it is. Even with reserved spots for each place we went to and the guide's expertise, we still expected a bit more food, maybe a full meal to tie things together to justify the price. Once again, enjoyed the tour thoroughly and would recommend, it's just a little expensive!
This was an excellent tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the local food, and she also gave us a lot of interesting information about Modena. The places she took us to and the food tastings were, I believe, the best in Modena. I highly recommend this tour.
We loved our tour with Loredana, her passion for the town of Modena and its products was infectious. Among other tastings, she also took us to a very small, exclusive handmade balsamic producer where we were treated to tastings of vinegars of different ages. It was a very enjoyable day!
Echoing the others, our tour guide Loredana was the best of the best — gracious, kind, lovely, knowledgeable and FUN! Everything we ate/sampled was delicious and the mix & order of items was perfect. She really knew what to choose and where to get the best. Andrea, who organized things for us in advance was really helpful and responsive to questions we had before the tour. A first class operation!
Top notch tour all the way. Local people who know the area, the history, and the foods. Lore, our guide, was gracious, welcoming, patient, and fun.
We got so much more than expected from this tour thanks to our guide, Lori. We did this as a day outing from Parma; very easy to do by train. Walked to the city center to find Lori waiting. There she gave us some history of the city and region - a sense of place and we were off. Every stop was wonderful, the food and drink all delicious, the people we met delightful, and Lori pointing things out and telling us more about Modena everywhere we went. Also, Lori anticipated our every need and was ready for anything - her backpack has it all. As we talked about other places we would be visiting she told us about special events and helped us find online tickets. It simply couldn’t have been better! We spent three weeks in Italy and it was filled with amazing experiences but this tour and our day in Modena are right at the top of our best memories. Confession - on previous trips we had already taken other tours/class with Taste Bologna in Bologna so we knew this tour would be the best!
Great food, all the mainstays of the area. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable and the group was fun. Highly recommend
This was an amazing tour and very informative. We highly recommend this. It checks all the boxes - learning about Modena, the regional food, best places to go, how to buy. Loredana is the most amazing guide and so knowledgeable. We sampled many local foods. We didn't want it to end! Well worth the price.
We really enjoyed our food tour in Modena. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to sample and learn about many of the typical foods of Modena such as tigelle, Parmesan, balsamic vinegar and Lambrusco. I can definitely recommend this tour!
Loradona went out of her way to make our small group comfortable & cohesive. She was very knowledgeable of the food we tasted and the town of Modena. We highly recommend her as a guide and also recommend this activity.
Our guide, Lori, was an encyclopedia of knowledge and led us to so many places. We tried so many local delicacies that we would never know about otherwise. We loved it! Our guide was very personable and I could have hung out with her longer. We highly recommend.
Lore was so knowledgeable about Modena and we enjoyed so many tasty treats! We would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Modena and wanting to learn about local eats. She even gave us great restaurant recommendations!
An amazing, intimate experience which far exceeded my expectations. We tasted a variety of the most authentic balsamic vinegars we could've ever dreamed of, and Andrea was very knowledgeable and spoke with great passion for the product. I definitely recommend this experience in Modena
Excellent tour learning all about Modena and it’s good. Highly recommend this tour, lovely friendly store holders and our guide as well. The balsamic tasting was a fabulous experience.
Loredana did an amazing job on our Modena Food Tour. We’ve many done food tours all over the world… But Loredana was next level! She was kind, energetic and welcoming, and really great with our kids. So many stops! The markets, food, gelato and balsamic tasting... all great! We purchased delicious balsamic and shipped it home. We loved her and Modena! The best day of our trip! Do this with Taste Bologna!
Our food tour of Modena was really terrific. Our guide, Loredana was so kind and knowledgeable. She was able to share with us so much about the culture and culinary tradition of Modena and the Emilia Romagna Region.
A must if you have only a day in Modena! Thoughtful guide and easiest way to get the best out of the morning.
This food tour was incredible. Not only was the food delicious but our guide, Lori was a great tour guide. Highly recommend to anyone to try the unique food the Modena has to offer.
We had the best time with Darren, while we were in Bologna. We did the walk around the city with great food, cheese, gelato and a stop at a local Osteria. That trip was an excellent time. The best part came on Day 2 when we went to a Parmigiana producer, an Acetaia in Modena for a balsamic tasting and a Prosciutteria. In all of the locations, we got walked through with the production processes end to end. We sampled amazing cheese, amazing prosciutto and the Acetaia experience, was the crown jewel. We had the most amazing lunch at the Acetaia in a private room, with a two amazing bottles of D.O.P balsamic at each setting for you to try with all of the foods that were prepared specifically for the balsamic. In every case, I don't know how we could've had more enjoyment out of the trip. Everything was absolutely spectacular. We were also able to make some shortstops along the way to see some very fantastic small castle towns. I would highly recommend Darren for a trip and request the trip that we did as well. It was a new one for his company and he was blown away himself. He is a very knowledgeable person in food and beverage, and is a pleasure to be around for a day.
I did the Modena Balsamic Vinegar tasting - absolutely amazing! Would highly recommend if you are a foodie. It went for about an hour, the lovely lady was so knowledgeable and learning about how the vinegar is made is actually really interesting. I was able to book this a few days in advance.
Guide Lori gave us a delicious day, placed food and drink orders for us, and answered all our questions about Modenese food and culture. We spent hours in the market. My one regret is that we missed the gelato stop because the tour ran over the allotted time, and we had to catch a train.
We booked this food tour for the first day of our stay hoping that it would give us a good introduction to the area, which it did. Lori was passionate about the region, friendly and informative. A pleasant few hours.
This was great. Sadly, the weather did not cooperate and was very rainy (not their fault) but it required some modification and we spent time in the market indoors. Our guide was so invested in the experience and making it a great time. I will say I thought we were getting the tour Stanley Tucci did in the area as I went to his website and clicked on the link provided. He visited where they make the parmigiana and prosciutto. This was definitely not that. So, a bit disappointed. We drove 3 hours from Montepulciano. It was a wonderful experience and I recommend it.
Loridana was knowledgeable and friendly. The food tour was memorable with stops at many venues. Besides Parmesan Cheese and Balsamic Vinegar, we tasted fruits of the region, traditional snacks and gelato. This tour was the best of several we took.
This was so worth it! Best food tour we did on our whole Italy trip. Our guide was so kind and knowledgeable. Our train was delayed and she was so understanding and offered to meet us. Tons of delicious food and a great environment
What a fantastic food tour! Loredana our host was exceptionally engaging as she introduced us to the tastes of Modena, from breakfast traditions to dessert, everything is covered. Good introduction to the history of the area and how important food production is in this region.
Our guide Loredana was excellent. We took our time exploring foods unique to Modena plus the regions famous cheese and balsamic vinegars. Our group included a vegan (make sure to let them know when booking) and Loredana ensured they had a comfortable and enjoyable experience with quite a few options. Modena is compact, so expect more chewing than walking. A historical and geographic overview adds to the experience. It was fun and filling. Highly recommended.
Really enjoyed the Modena food tour what a fantastic experience to try so much of what the area has to offer! We left full and would recommend! Wish we had time to do the Bologna tour also. Delicious- thanks to Darren.
Loredana Sganzeria was a delight to spend the day with in Modena. She was thoughtful and accommodating. She was aware of the very hot day and checked in frequently to be sure we were doing well. Loredana was very knowledgeable and the pace was perfect. The tour was small so we didn’t feel intrusive. We felt comfortable to ask any questions Lastly, the food was amazing and Loredana explained the both historic and regional context. Wonderful tour and guide.
It was a great experience and we really enjoyed the time spent with our guide Loredana. She explained a lot about the region‘s history of food, showed us nice places in town and the variety of the food was amazing. We started with cappuccino and some breakfast, went to the market, to a Aceto store and finished with ice cream. Highly recommended tour!
Lori was a fantastic tour guide. She gave us a wonderful tour of a variety of local foods. The time spent in the central market was great! We learned about all different local specialties as well as some history of the area. Thank you Lori!
Our guide, iola, was wonderful. She had so much knowledge of the area, historical information and of course the food. Highly recommended.
We had a brilliant time in Modena with Lori. Learnt a lot about regional food, stopped at great places and food was delicious!
Our guide was wonderful and so enthusiastic. By the time we finished we had certainly had our fill of the food experience.
On my way back to Chicago from what I planned as a car trip though Motor Valley and I have to say that one of the highlights of this trip was the Food Tour with Lori. She was awesome, warm and clearly loved to share the food treasures of Emilia -Romagna with us. You don’t want to miss this experience. A few days later we had the opportunity to have lunch at Cavallino and having had the tour with Lori helped us get a better insight into Massimo Bottura’s re-imagination of some of Modena’s classics. Grazie Lori, hope to be able to do your tour once again!
