We truly enjoyed our visit to the Museo Poldi Pezzoli. It is a beautiful and charming museum with an impressive collection displayed in an intimate, elegant setting. Even without a guide, it was easy and enjoyable to explore at our own pace. A wonderful experience and definitely worth visiting!

I have been to amazing museums all over Europe and other continents. I was absolutely mesmerized and stunned at the most important collection. I stayed 2 times longer and went around twice. I preferred it to Pinacoteca Ambrosia Museo and the Pinacoteca Brera. I think for a private collection it was definitely on the levels of the Borge and Medici's .
The Museo Poldi Pezzoli is a short walk from the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. The former residence turned museum houses an incredible collection of art, including works by masters like Botticelli and Bellini. What I like about this museum is that it's not huge or overwhelming and it has a little bit of something for everyone; paintings, clocks, tapestries. Strolling through the galleries felt like I was enjoying a personal tour of a private collection. I recommend stopping by for a few hours even if you aren't into art; there's something for everyone here to enjoy.
I really enjoyed the design and layout of this small but unique museum with ceramics, china, paintings, etc. What impressed me most was the collection of ancient clocks and pocket watches. They look stunning.
The very best of the house museums of Milan -- would be the best museum in many cities in Italy. A very impression collection developed by the Poldi Pezzoli and Trivulizio families. The list of 5-star names is remarkable: Bellini, Botticelli, Cima da Conegliano, Andrea da Messina, Giordano, Giorgione, Lotto, Andrea Mantegna, Memling, Strozzi, Teniers, Tintoretto, Vivarini. And much much more. Quality pieces through centuries of Italian art.
There are some lovely paintings here but it left me a little cold. It may be because there was clearly an event on and ordinary visitors were being treated rather as second class citizens. There was little point in buying a ticket in advance as you were just made to queue up to have it replaced by another ticket. I enjoyed the Andrea Solario exhibition that was on when I was there. It is conveniently located though being close to La Scala and the Galleria.
The museum is a hidden gem in the center of Milan. The museum houses a rich collection of art from various periods with ample information in a stunning location. It might appear small when you enter, but the upper floor houses enough to fill more than two hours on itself. If you go for a city trip to Milan, Poldi Pezzoli houses a variety to keep you excited after two or three days sightseeing and visiting.
Buy your tickets directly at this outstanding museum. Viator charged me €19.25, museum entry is only €15. The fee is very high and I couldn’t get the QR code to load- just kept looping around the site! Go to this museum and enjoy! But buy your tickets at the door 😊
I am impressed with the various collections from a historian who also goes back in time. It was a good two hour trip and see the different ages of the artifacts.
A local gem that nobody ones but it was a private collection museum simply experts in jewellery and 16th century religious paintings. You can also find early works of Michelangelo and Raphael
I think this was my favourite visit during my trip to Milan. The reason being is it felt like the equivalent of a boutique hotel for museums - small in comparison to other museums with such fine collections, it’s hidden away and, when we visited, hardly anyone was there so it felt like ours. Another reason is Antonio Pollaiuolo's "Portrait of a Lady,” which was a joy to see in real life. It was everything and more but the Poldi Pezzoli is more than one painting with a wide variety of masterpieces including artworks, furniture, clocks and watches, armour and weapons. Masterpieces include works by Botticelli, Mantegna, Michelangelo, and Canaletto. I really enjoyed the watch collection, compasses and the armour. Also loved the display cabinet with the fine lace from around Europe including the East Midlands. And the best bit? The fountain in the stairwell with the goldfish. An amazing, must do experience in Milan,
We couldn’t get into the Breya Gallery so elected this as an alternative. It turned out to be a good choice. The picture collection alone is worth the quite high entrance fee. It includes works by Botticelli, Mantegna, Michelangelo, Canaletto and others. There are also very impressive displays of decorative items and some fantastic clocks. The building itself is beautiful and it is a great pity much of it was destroyed in 1943. Photographs and a few remaining rooms give an impression of the original splendour. Finally, there is an incredible selection of weapons and armour from many countries. It is not of the scale of the Hofburg, Leeds armouries or others, but it is worth seeing if you have any interest in weaponry and is strikingly displayed.
Poldi Pezzoli is a lovely home with a nice collection of antiquities. Even more impressive is the lace collection which is sadly pushed to the side down a hallway. It is even nicer than the lace collection in Burano, Italy. To get the best value, get the museum pass to see other homes in the city.
Excellent museum. w spent over 3 hours in the museum. Definitely worthwhile to visit. Take an audio guide to fully understand everything you are seeing as ellas the history behind it.
Incredible experience. We arrived for our scheduled 2pm entry and the museum had closed unexpectedly for repairs. Knowing we could not return another day, the curators let us in and brought us around for over 2 hours privately. How could we ever say enough thanks. Beautiful building, exquisite collection.
Wonderful, eclectic museum with a variety of collections to view. Not crowded like most of the other museums.
Phenomemal! The collection of beautiful works of art and location is superb! Highly recommended for a Sunday afternoon to enhance your day and appreciation for beauty👏
Lovely collections with a few stunning paintings including two Botticellis. The architecture of the house was also beautiful and included painted ceilings, statuary, and fountains. The museum is small and walkable even for those who have issues walking. There are also elevators available on asking. Would highly recommend.
A small museum spread over 2 floors, this museum holds the private collection of Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli. The main highlights are the paintings in the “Gold Room” on the the first floor and the armoury on the ground floor. There is a also a beautiful staircase that takes you up to the first floor. Overall a good visit to a relatively small museum
Housed in an elegant Milanese mansion which used to be the residence of a private collector to whom the museum is named after, Poldi Pezzoli is a museum and gallery with permanent exhibitions that vary from paintings to sculpture and from armory to clocks. All items, organized according to theme, are beautifully displayed in a way that not only doesn’t bore you but increases your interest the further you explore the collections. Though small in numbers its treasures are masterpieces, especially paintings like Botticelli’s Virgin Mary with baby Jesus and the book, Dead Christ among Saints, Hayez’s self portrait among friends and works by Mantegna, Bellini and Lucas Cranach. The museum often houses periodic exhibitions which are included in ticket price and are worth attending.
Very nice small museum with a variety of objects. It had watches, jewelry, armor, paintings, furniture, stained glass, Murano glass. I thought the collections were very well displayed.
The Poldi Pezzoli Museum is a place of rare charm, where the elegance of a house museum makes the visit intimate and engaging. The eclectic and refined collection guides the visitor from ancient weapons to lace, from Botticelli to clocks, from porcelain to travel souvenirs, creating a lively journey between art and curiosity. Impeccable hospitality and heartfelt thanks to Mr. Paolo T., who with passion and sensitivity shared anecdotes that made the visit even more vibrant and memorable. Thank you!
The visit to the Poldi Pezzoli Museum was a wonderful surprise. An elegant, refined museum rich in extraordinary works, where each room tells a story of art, history, and a passion for collecting. The atmosphere is unique: it feels like stepping into a home from another time, meticulously cared for in every detail. The collections are magnificent, from paintings to furnishings, to art objects and armor, all displayed with great taste. An engaging visit that is never boring, perfect for both art enthusiasts and those looking to discover a special and less "chaotic" place than large traditional museums. Absolutely recommended!
Beautiful house-museum, in the center. The armory, the staircase with fountain, the stained glass windows, paintings, clocks and all other works of art. A fantastic collection, there are works by Botticelli, Mantegna, Tiepolo, Lanini, just to mention the first ones I remember... A real cultural spectacle.
Very nice museum. I don't have much knowledge of art history but the audio guide made me discover some paintings .( Not all are commented). I was particularly impressed by the gun room, clocks and fountains. The staff is helpful and friendly. I don't regret my visit.
A museum of note in Milan is located on Via Manzoni: the POLDI PEZZOLI MUSEUM, a refined residence-museum that exhibits a priceless private collection of Renaissance paintings (Piero della Fancesca, Bellini, Botticeli, Mategna,...), clocks, weapons, tapestries armor and historical furniture in an atmosphere of private palace.
The museum is located in the center of Milan, in what was once Poldi Pezzoli's house, Bella l'armeria with truly unique pieces, perhaps just a little dark. Beautiful clocks, the Persian carpet of the sixteenth century and paintings, ranging from 300 to 800. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The Poldi-Pezzoli museum is a pearl in a city rich in museums .I wanted to visit it for years and finally I succeeded. The museum is one of the most beautiful of its kind and is absolutely worth a visit if you are for a few days in Milan, the money is spent very well.S enters and you immediately see the staircase and then many beautiful paintings, from Botticelli to Bellini, from piero del Pollaiolo to Lucas Cranach from Canaletto to Hayez and then many others .The library is very beautiful as well as the hall of sundials , beautiful Dante's studio and every corner of the museum, in a word Wonderful !
One of the most iconic museums in Milan the home of a Milanese gentleman still rich in its original furnishings. Embellished by the hall of arms with a Pomodoro ceiling and collections of sketches, porcelain etc. donated by worthy patrons of art.
A house museum that passes and you do not know it .beautiful with a multitude of works of art .fascinating and recommended.we had a guide who explained the whole family history and the various works .a jewel of Milan
Splendid omnivorous and poetic collection that the generosity of Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli has bequeathed to us all. Let yourself be conquered by every detail: from the portrait of the collector (Hayez's work), hanging above the counter of the ticket office, from the goldfish of the staircase fountain, from Etruscan and Roman jewels, from the stained glass windows (Dante's cabinet), from porcelain, from the doors of the black room, up to the minion statues of demons and creatures of horror... In short, an authentic wonder for all tastes...
Very interesting visit, especially as regards the collection of paintings, among which I point out some amazing Magnasco. Why didn't I give it the highest grade? The main reason: those who take care of the Palace should take a nice museology course. Tags of the same color as the wall, sometimes placed in an "extravagant" way, information on the painting lacking or completely absent, lighting to be reviewed. Second reason: the much celebrated carpet with hunting scenes and the fabric collection were temporarily absent; I think it is important to report on the site when these are visible or not.
We visited the museum on a Sunday morning. Nor were we thrilled. The collection of watches is really rich and precious, the lady of Pollaiolo alone is worth the visit. The exhibition by Andrea Solario is worth the visit alone. Highly recommended
House Museum rich in collections, among which stand out those of antique watches unique in Europe and perhaps in the world, that of Roman jewelry, that of lace and fabrics on the ground floor in addition to the weapons room designed by Arnaldo Pomodoro. Seeing the newly restored Portrait of a Lady by Pollaiolo is exciting. The palace already of its own is a work of art perfectly preserved and maintained. every time I understood in Milan I do not miss my Visit.
Museum in a historic building in Milan a few steps from La Scala. I went there to admire the beautiful paintings by Piero della Francesca, part of the Augustinian Politician gathered for the occasion and from other important museums. But the museum on the first floor also has a rich collection of works of art (especially paintings) from the Renaissance and late Renaissance up to the 18th century and ranging from Sodoma... to Raffaellino del Garbo... to Botticelli... to Raphael... to Tiepolo... to Canaletto... to Mantegna and many others. Also interesting is the weapons room on the ground floor worth a visit.
Il Poldi Pezzoli è una casa museo Atmosfera magica La scala colpisce all’ingresso e con la collezione al piano superiore merita una visita
I would like to comment on the visit to the polyptych. An altarpiece is designed to be looked at with the nose turned upwards, the choice of the installer to place panels at eye level and in a narrow environment, questionable in itself, becomes devastating when the number of visitors exceeds ten unit I went there on a weekday and found herds of pensioners with their smartphones and cameras in tow. It felt like being in a corner of the Rinascente on the day of the sales, not to mention the fact that the ticketing company does not refund the ticket in case of movement of the date. Amateurs in jeopardy, an experience not to be repeated.
Trovarmi davanti al polittico di Piero Della Francesca è stato entusiasmante. Un grazie immenso alla mente illuminata che in vita ha raccolto tanti capolavori e alla sua volontà di metterli a disposizione di tt alla sua morte .
What can we say about the Poldi Pezzoli museum? Which is a marvel! Nothing else can be said. The exhibition dedicated to Piero della Francesca's polyptych is magnificent, really well structured. Very kind staff. A special thank you to Mrs. Cristina, a volunteer of exquisite kindness and helpfulness. One visit is certainly not enough.
Wonderful house with a very interesting collection. It's worth it just for the environments, which are truly beautiful. The temporary one on Piero della Francesca is also beautiful.
In addition to the splendid exhibition of Piero della Francesca's reunited polyptych, the museum is very beautiful and often overlooked. The route to the rooms is well indicated with folders at reception.
The exhibition “White gold. Three centuries of Ginori porcelain” is quite poor: a room and a small room with around twenty porcelain works (to fill it there are some bronze models, sketches on paper and autograph writings by Gio Ponti, as well as a couple of magazines). And since the umbrella didn't fit in the locker, I had to leave it in the umbrella stand outside, totally unattended and without any lock... The rest of the museum is nice, but I wasn't there for that.
It was very interesting. We took a lot of photos and got to know new artists, fashion and lifestyle from different eras
Il palazzo è bellissimo ed anche le varie collezioni!! Non me lo aspettavo proprio !! Un po deludente la parte dedicata a Ginori ma nell’insieme la mia amica ed io soddisfatte. Grazie
Magnificent museum, special mention for the weapons room and the clock room. Also lovers of porcelain figures and religious paintings will appreciate
I passed by it a thousand times, always promising myself that I would pay a visit sooner or later. And I finally did it! I was pleased to discover a truly beautiful and interesting museum that immediately communicates the passion and care with which the precious and interesting works of the collection were collected and preserved.
House museum in the center, near the Teatro della Scala. A real gem, from outside you do not expect the treasures present! A well-stocked collection, including paintings, armor, various instruments, artfully arranged in the elegant rooms of this house! Recommended!
