This was the last day of our 18 day European tour. We had walked 2.5-4 miles for last 16 days and were very tired. Several factors with tour, this was WW2 liberation day from Germany, many people off work, we originally scheduled Last Supper tour but it was closed this week. What we thought we booked - going into Duomo and other churches etc didn't happen. The tour guide we had Picca was well versed in Milan. He had been tour guide for many years and knew lots of history, buidling facts, design history and assorted minutia. We went in the Arcade and that was only buidling. Beautiful but really had wanted to see inside of Duomo and other historic buildings. I was very tired and had a leg injury which walking and steps weren't kind. After 3 hrs (4 hr tour) we wanted to just get to hotel and get ready for flight next day. Instead we were dragged to places we didn't care to see nor were they neither important or of interest. We were going to try to get back to hotel ourself without guide, but we just didn't know where we were. We explained to City Unscripted that we weren't happy with the tour and didn't blame tour guide because we may have been at fault because our expectation didn't match tour or the May 25th celebration precluded getting tickets to see some sights. Needless to say I wouldn't recommend spending 4 hrs just looking at buildings. Please note: during our Italian trip we had some really good tours but had 2 stinkers and 1 - no show. City Unscripted stated they would refund 30% back, but we haven't seen that from our travel company Compass Travel or them.

Itinerary
Originally built on the remains of a 14th-century fortification, it was one of the largest citadels in Europe but now houses several of the city's museums and art collections.
It was worth taking nearly six centuries to built, as this is the largest church in Italy and second largest of the world. We will not enter the building, we will only visit it from the outside.
This pedestrian central square is named after the renowned Teatro alla Scala opera house, found on the North-Western side of the square.

Our walking tour of Milan with Francesca was fantastic! Francesca was a true local from Milan and knew her city well, which was much appreciated. She showed us many of Milan’s highlights and gave lots of history and interesting information. Additionally, Francesca reached out ahead of time to touch base and was easy to communicate with via WhatsApp with any additional details before the tour. Highly recommend!
Salvatore was a terrific guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared interesting insights throughout our walking tour. He even told us where to stand so he could take great pics of us with the perfect background. You will be very happy if you select this tour!
Great tour by Salvatore, who spoke very good English. He gave us a great history lesson about the city, the "must see" sights, and just as important the contrast between the old Milan and the new. Great lessons on how to use the underground subway, which is a fantastic system. Not going to lie, our first night in Milan was a bit overwhelming - it's a huge city. Salvatore gave us the lay of the land, made us comfortable to continue exploring on our own and quickly made us glad we chose Milan as a destination. Always good to get a guide that you'd think you'd be friends with if you lived in the city!
Yesterday was our first day in Milan so we decided to book this tour for our group of four (two couples). We were assigned Omar as our guide and it was a great experience. We saw the main sites as well as some hidden gems, got pointed in the right direction of where to explore further and had every question answered. We walked around 12,000 steps on the tour so great for getting your steps in too!
This was a fantastic and unique walking tour with Arianna visiting the hidden gems of Milan. She was very responsive when I set up my trip and texted me updates throughout. She met me at Central Station, offered options as to what I wanted to see and learn and always had interesting information about the districts we visited. We rode the metro and the tram together, seeing the sights, as well as walking through beautiful and out-of-the-way streets. I felt I saw so much more than I would ever have been able to solo. Plus, Arianna is a warm, personable, guide and I learned a lot about local culture and the city . I can highly recommend this trip with Arianna as your guide! Thank you, Arianna, it was such a pleasure touring with you!
The warmth and deep knowledge of Milan's history by Sara was amazing. We saw so many highlights and learnt a lot of history facts. And detail We recommend this tour strogly especially for adults. Trevor Sargent 8th May 2025
Great walking tour, learned many new things about Milan. Salvatore was very knowledgeable and very friendly. Also gave some great recommendations regarding other site sites to see and restaurants to enjoy.
My husband and I had a great experience on our walking tour with Salvatore. He had three rules, if we had a question to ask, if we needed or wanted to stop for something let him know, if there was anything specific we wanted to see let him know. Salvatore had many surprise viewing points throughout the tour that he had carefully curated for funny or historical stories…or both. He took a number of “Instagram worthy pictures” for us, and took us on the oldest tram in the city and the metro. He made sure to explain where we were going, how to use the transit, how much it cost and took the time to explain how we could get back to our hotels with transit or by foot. He even suggested an awesome bar for aperitivo and an additional attraction to see if we walked home. I would highly recommend Salvatore if you are up for an entertaining and educational tour of Milano!
If you are interested in the history of Milan, this is the guide for you. I had no idea all of the things I didn’t know. Highly suggest this your to get to know Milan.
You need to pay for your own transportation during the tour. We did not get snack or drink so may need to ask for it.
Wonderful tour! Even during the busy holiday season, we were able to navigate the crowds and learn about this great city. Salvatore was a terrific guide and showed us some of the highlights in different parts of the city, walking and taking public transit with our family and explaining along the way. We love learning about new places and cultures and this was a great opportunity for anyone who is short on time but has a keen interest in Milan's past, present, and future.
We asked Salvatore to plan a unique tour because we have been to Milan a number of times and we wanted to visit new places. Salvatore achieved that goal perfectly. The 4 hour tour flew by ( and normally I get bored easily). He showed us the past, present and the future of Milan, including some very helpful information* along the way. It never once felt like he was reading a script either. * He explained how to use the subway and what to do if our ticket didn't work. The very next day we put both parts of that vital information to use. I would highly recommend any tour with him.
Great way to start our trip in Milan. Salvatore was wonderful. He showed us how to use the Tram and the Metro which set us up for easy transportation for the rest of our visit. He took us to great neighborhoods and gave us a perfect introduction to Milan.
Private tour that allowed for good conversation and personalized recommendations. Salvatore pointed out areas we would have never explored if we did not have this tour. It was really helpful being at the beginning of our stay. He also provided great recommendations for lunch and dinner.
We had an absolutely fantastic guided tour with Omar in Milan. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the city’s history and culture, providing us with insights that truly enriched our experience. Omar went above and beyond in every way, sharing fascinating stories and information about Milan’s hidden gems as well as its iconic landmarks. What also stood out was his flexibility—our group made several last-minute changes, and Omar accommodated all of them with ease. His positivity and enthusiasm were infectious, and he brought a wonderful energy to the entire experience. It was clear that he genuinely enjoys what he does, which made the tour even more enjoyable for us. If you’re looking for an outstanding guide in Milan, we highly recommend Omar! He made our visit unforgettable, and we’re so grateful for his dedication and warmth.
Salvatore is amazing. on the day of the tour when it was raining he came on time and was very enthusiastic in explaining. very happy to be able to listen to him telling stories for 3 hours and he was able to help take pictures. i am very satisfied and hope you have the same experience
Armando was very knowledgeable and it was a great way to get an overview of Milan in a short period of time.
Our guide’s itinerary was well thought out. He was also an awesome photographer- highly recommend !! Took the metro to cover way more grounds than just one area.
Our group had a wonderful time exploring Milan w/Salvatore. What stood out for us on this tour was that Salvatore took us to many different parts of the city. We walked and took public transport to see and learn about Milan’s past, future and romantic areas. We appreciated Salvatore’s knowledge of the city and insights on places to visit and dine. We also loved his sly humor throughout our tour. Fantastic experience!
We had a great time with Alessandro showing us important architectural, religious and cultural sights to the north and west of Piazza del Duomo. He was very personable and knowledgeable, sharing some additional, details about gelato and pizza restaurants. We were oriented well to the city and it helped us when we revisited some of the areas the following day to see things in more detail.
We had such a great time. Francesca was so nice and informative! My fiancé and I were only in Milan for a day, so this was the perfect way to see a lot!
Our tour with Salvatore far exceeded our expectations and they were high to begin with! He took us all over Milan and had a theme for each place. He has great stories and keeps it moving along, without feeling rushed. I highly recommend his tour.
Considering it was 100 degrees in July and there were so many crowds everywhere, this was a great way to start our Rome vacation and see the highlights of the city so then we can decide where we would like to spend more time.
Highly recommend the “gems and highlights” tour of Milan with Francesca. She was so kind and friendly!! She is extremely knowledgeable of Milan and the history and this tour really enhanced our overall experience in Milan! I loved being with just her and not a large group. It felt like we were just exploring the city with a family member. She was also very gracious to help us reschedule our tour when we had unexpected travel issues and missed our first booking. Highly recommend booking with Francesca!!
Fun, informative, long walking tour. Alex was a great guide and very knowledgeable. He definitely provided a local’s perspective. Know going in that it’s about 12,000 steps over 3 hours so you need to be somewhat fit, particularly if it’s hot. Alex took us to a great gelato place about halfway through which provided a needed break. Highly recommended.
We had a great time learning about Milan from our guide, Alessandro. So many cool things we would never have known about Milan. We definitely would recommend!
Seeing other parts of the country and Milan. Learning about the history the guide was very knowledgeable
My husband and I made a last minute change in our travel plans due to rainy weather in England and ended up in Milan for 4 nights. With no plans or itinerary for this city, I booked this tour to help get us acclimated. What a great introduction this was to Milan! Salvatore showed us how to use the metro, took us to many interesting sites, shared fascinating history, and gave us restaurant recommendations. It was an invaluable experience, and since the tour was private, we didn't have to worry about keeping up with a big group. Highly recommend!
Our walking tour of Milan with Francesca was fabulous! She is so passionate and knowledgeable about her city, and it shines in her tour. My husband and I loved our tour with Francesca...we felt like we were being shown Milan by a close friend. She is full of history and current events as well as wit and humor. Highly recommend seeing Milan with Francesca!
We had so much fun!! Alex was personable, knowledgeable, spoke incredible English. We felt like we saw all the main important places in Milan plus special hidden gems!!
Salvador did a wonderful job of showing us all Milan highlights in a short period of time. Loved every minute!. So much info in 3 hrs. and snacks too.
The tour was very enlightening and informative. Laura our tour guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Would highly recommend this tour.
It was a nice tour with Alessandro, who was very knowledgeable and friendly; we learned a lot about Milanese history, the historic sites, walked around the city center and got a feel for what else to do during our trip. My only complaint is the charge for two people seems very high; it's not so different for the guide to take one or a few people, that's why some tours charge a rate "up to 3 or 4 people", which makes more sense. But it was a nice day.
My husband and I did the Hidden Gems walking tour with Salvatore. Salvatore was very knowledgeable and well spoken. He didn’t give us so much information that we couldn’t retain it, but rather was very specific and most interesting. Although we’ve visited Milan on occasions before, this was the first time we have seen some sites that we otherwise wouldn’t have known about. Highly recommend!
We had a highly knowledgeable and entertaining guide for our Milan tour. We got a lot of information of the city and local history, recommendations for some hidden gems and practical tips of how to get around. This certainly maximized the value of our short visit.
Armando was a gracious and thoughtful guide with an obvious passion for his home. He walked us all around Milan, showing and explaining all sorts of sites and answering all of our questions. He recognized every photo opportunity and made sure his guests were well cared for. He also made himself available for future questions and Milan-related advice. I highly recommend any tour with Armando!
Francesca was a wonderful tour guide, super friendly and happy to adapt the route as we needed. Booking a private tour definitely the best idea for a group of friends, as we saw places we never would have visited without Francesca
Informative tour that presented Milan as past, future, and romantic. Did the tour at the beginning of our holiday and it helped to acclimate to the city and get around with ease. Definitely worth a few hours.
Our tour was cancelled at the last minute with no explanation. No alternatives were available or offered. Our Milan trip was ruined.
Francisco was a wealth of knowledge and shared interesting facts and stories about Milan. He was very flexible and even found a place for us to have some snacks!
An excellent walking tour I managed to book at the last minute. A mix of old and new Milan, starting at the Duomo, next to Castello Sforesco, Piazza Gae Aulenti, and ending by the canals. Tram and train too. Salvatore answered all my questions patiently and it was good to see the city through the eyes of a local
Armando the host never showed up at the pick up spot to take us on the tour. We texted the company and the Gide twice and called him three times ecen prior to start and there was no response
A little rough start with confusion about the start time, but Francesca was a lovely and knowledgeable guide. We had not been to Milan before, so this tour provided a great overview for our time there.
Saara was amazing at giving us such a good tour experience. She’s full of knowledge, easy going and bubbly. We saw so many places we wouldn’t have if we were by ourselves and avoided the huge crowds. I recommend this if this is your first time in Milan.
Our 3-hour private walking tour of Milan was perfect and our guide, Salvatore, totally made the experience. His knowledge, insights and humor made the time fly by and we were left wanting more.
My husband and I spent a delightful afternoon with Saara as she guided us to many of the significant sites of Milan. She shared her deep knowledge of the history of the City of Milan and the history of the sites that she took us too. Fascinating. She also provided us with helpful hints to enhance our time in Milan as well as our travels elsewhere in Italy. We really enjoyed our tour with Saara. We would highly recommend her as a guide when you travel to Milan.
Salvatore was a great tour guide. He showed us lot ..A must-do tour for anyone in milan. He was very knowledgeable and we saw places we didn’t know exist. He had a good sense of humor! Highly recommend
We enjoyed the entire tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly! We would highly recommend this tour!
