Reviews
Interesting little museum of how first inventions started and some of Leonardo's thoughts. Not as interactive as it sounds and left us a little underwhelmed.
Experience itself was fantastic! The Viator partner trip advisor deducted payment without my consent! That was not called for!!
To see these carefully constructed models of dozens of Da Vinci's imaginative mechanisms is to realize how utterly impractical they all were.
Extremely interesting for people of all ages. Leonardo was a genius and seeing his ideas in 3D gives you a clearer view of how ahead of us he really was. I strongly recommend going the extra mile to watch carefully the works hanging from the ceilings.
What a great museum to learn more about one of the greatest minds ever. Get an audio guide if you want to dive deeper into explanations and history. The interactive displays are fun, even for adults.
Excellent displays of Leonardo’s inventions. Lots of interactive activities demonstrating these items.
It was good but some of it wasn’t operational, we found it quite small, but it was packed with some interesting exhibits. It’s worth a visit but it’s too expensive to give more stars. We spent about 45 minutes all in!
I saw this museum on a TV program in the UK, and have always been fascinated with Leonardo (and how ahead of his time he was). The museum has plenty of exhibits and interactive displays. However, the museum is very small and can get crowded when busy. We had seen everything in less than 1 hour. Worth going, but probably just once.
We have visited the museum as family. Location is easy to find and we had no cue upon entry. For the visit I would recommend taking 1-1.5hours as, even though not the biggest, there are enough interesting things to occupy your time with. An incredible mind of one of the most important characters of our history. The audio guide costs 5 euros (Mai 2026) and I believe it's worth it because most of writtings are in italian (the reason for the 4 stars). In conclusion, a must see while in Milan, especially if you want to get more information about Leonardo da Vinci
This was my second time visiting. I love that this museum brought to life all of Leonardo’s creations that have never been seen. He was a true renaissance man!! Pure talent.
The trip was very interactive and fun for all ages. There are games, VR experiences, manuscripts, and 3d models. A must try experience is the building of the bridge as it challenges your brain and fun to do with others!
If you are not someone who can spend hours and hours reading material, then this is the experience for you. It is hands on, interactive and information is served up in good sized chunks.
This is a small but interesting museum featuring models of many of Leonardo's inventive ideas, such as his flying machines and mechanical lion. There is also a room with his imagined musical instruments that I found appealing. You can get an audio guide, but it doesn't provide a ton of information. Overall, it's a nice way to spend an hour, but not really a must-see attraction.
This is a must do if your a fan of Leonardo da vinci. It was amazing to see so much stuff. Also there’s a potition at the end to save it so the more people that go the better . There was alot of stuff i never knew he did that i saw there
This is a very interesting museum. Leonardo was ahead of his time with his vision. It was interesting to see models of his inventions.
We visited here almost as a fallback as we failed to obtain tickets for the "Last Supper" mural in the church. However, I'm so glad we came, I'm sure we enjoyed it more than we would have enjoyed the brief glimpse of the original . Lots of interactive exhibits. Lots of interesting exhibits of the Leonardo inventions and visions as well as the digitally remastered Last Supper with lots of information about the painting and it's various attempts at restoration . I even was given a student discount as a student of Cliff Theological college. It was interesting to see the differences between the damaged original and then the remastered version and looked at all the changes made to it and damage due to over enthusiastic cleaning and clumsiness. Overall this was a fantastic visit and we both enjoyed it. We'll remember our visit for a long time.
The genius of Leonardo. Incredible how fore sighted he was . Replicas of all his inventions on display. Well worth a visit. Visit the top floor where a great restaurant in a rooftop environment
The museum is really interesting, interactive. With texts, games, everything about the inventions of Leonardo. Worth it!
Very nice experience! A+ Booked tickets via their website, so we entered with no wait. The interactive nature of the museum kept the children occupied and engaged. Very interesting information, and captivating on how Leonardo was thinking and creating so long ago. Very nice place to visit at least once when in Milano, especially with kids. +There is also a free cloakroom to leave your coats and bags in order to navigate with conveniently
Interesting museum with many interactive exhibits and lots to do. Lots of information and exhibits and well laid out. Worth the 16 Euro entry!
Very informative, fascinating structures , a genius work and a lot to see, organized and the staff are accomodating.
What a nice Museum! It’s a relatively small museum? But make no mistake, worth to visit. It’s right next to the Galleria and Duomo, Scala and Leonardo da Vinci statue… not a chance to miss. The museum present a collection of the main works of Leonardo, and presents the concept and the actual works build up. Offers interactive activities to build Leonardo’s towers, Robot digitally; has audio guide, has all different sections for instruments and painting; the last Supper section; and even an workshop area - hands on! We had a lot of fun and got to know much more about Leonardo da Vinci legacy! Amazing!
A detailed overview of LdV's life and research. Many life-sized models, and some interactive displays that were good for both adults and children. Cons: The museum is small. It was also crowded, and we had to fight to move around sometimes. I wish they didn't pack it to capacity. If you want more than tiny bits of information in English (or other non-Italian language), you have to pay extra (5 euro) for the audio guide.
If you are a fan of Leonardo da Vinci, this museum is a must see! Most of these inventions were composed while da Vinci lived in Milan and worked for the prestigious and powerful Sforza family. After studying his detailed drawings, dedicated engineers have brought several of Master Leonardo's machines to reality. Visitors can view several of his flying experiments which hang from the ceiling, his perpetual motion device, his machines of war, his musical instruments (along with a recording of what they sound like), the studies for the fabulous huge equestrian monument promised to Francesco Sforza that was never built, and more. He was the epitome of the Renaissance man: painter, inventor, thinker, his mind was constantly questioning reality and anticipating the future. The museum is beautiful, but needs more translations of the explantions of da Vinci's work in English. Too, it is often visited by crowds of students who can be boisterous and lack respect for anything other than having time beyond the classroom. Count on taking at least two hours studying the works of the great Leonardo da Vinci, and appreciating his insight and curiosity.
A must see! Very well design and thoughtful exhibit. Plan on spending several hours. Try to see this exhibit before viewing the actual Last Supper.
In the heart of Milan lies a remarkable museum that vividly showcases the works of Da Vinci. Through a blend of models, videos, animations, and detailed explanations, the museum offers visitors a profound glimpse into Da Vinci's intellect and his ambitious designs and constructions. The area dedicated to his intricate concepts provides an extraordinary experience for those looking to delve into all facets of Da Vinci's projects, while also debunking some myths in the process.
Great exhibition of the most intelligent multi functional human being ever to grace our planet …. Could not be better
A museum with full scale models of di vinci’s drawings and interactive screens show details of his life and many folios. Very close to the Duomo.
The collection was good and it was very interesting to see the Codex and different machines invented by Leonardo Da Vinci!
This is fine if you are not able to see the actual Last Supper painting. For the price the exhibit is great and focuses heavily on the inventions of Leonardo. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
The restoration work done on the painting of the last supper was so beautiful. With the new technology, they have done a great job bringing it back true to life.
We loved our time at Leonardo3 and would highly recommend! Our trip to Milan was a short one so we chose this as our 'Leonardo activity' over others that we felt would take up more time and we were very pleasantly surprised. We booked online and got inside straight away. We found that the writing next to exhibits were in Italian but that each item had interactive features which were in English. This meant that we came away feeling like we still gained great insight into his life and work. Its a very progressive museum with amazing interactive features throughout and shouldn't be missed.
Right in city center next to duamo cathedral Tiny cosy nice place all items well displayed lots of hands on material
The museum itself is quite interesting: lot of machines to see and a few interactive pieces. The negative point is the value we get for the price (15€ for an adult): * the museum is quite small (less than 90 minutes for the visit) * explanations are only in Italian (no English), except on some screens, which are less convenient * need to pay 5€ more for audio guide
The Last Supper. Excellent guide the kind of professional who loves what he is doing. A lot of information and to be in the same place where Leonardo painted the famous painting is miraculous
Very interesting exhibit! We knew he invented a lot but didn’t expect all there was! Definitely worth it!
This is a must for any trip to Milan. I learned so much about this great man. He was a genius and far ahead of his time. Make sure you do the audio tour as it is very informative. Best tour around.
With so many things to see and do in Milan, another Leonardo Museum wouldn't be my first choice if it weren't for the heat. Also, it´s a nice place for kids and teenagers that have seen enough paintings and sculptures for the day. This museum gives you a good idea of how Leonardo's ideas would have looked if turned into reality. I also suggest to visit this place before going to the Cenacolo, to admire how the mural may lave looked when it was completed.
If you have any interest in the life and work of Leonardo da Vinci, this is a must-see in Milan. The exhibits are built around his work in the Codex Atlanticus where he sketches out his thoughts about flight mechanics, defense systems, and civil construction. The brilliance of this museum is in the dozens of replicas of da Vinci's works that have been constructed by experts in the field. Visitors can see how da Vinci planned to construct flying machines, submarines, helicopters, and other forward-looking machines. The museum also has a section where kids (and their adult friends) can play around trying to replicate some of da Vinci's works. Although a small museum, it is easy to spend 90-120 minutes going through its many displays.
Brings the work of his genious alive. Important visualizations of his most forward thinking inventions.
Loved the museum. It was small but packed to the brim with great and informative displays. The interactive displays were more than amazing. Loved it and well worth the little I paid!
A very interesting museum not just Da Vinci exhibits which absolutely fascinating to say the least, another exhibition on recycling caught my eye well presented and left me walking away with things to think about how we dispose of and recycle waste. Well worth a visit a 10 minute round the corner walk from a metro station, there are things to do for younger visitors i saw but not having not got young children i can honestly say did not pay to much attention on that one. Clean toilets and a cafe outside to break up the visit, plus helpful staff on hand to point things out. But for me personally it was all about Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo history and his incredible mind . Never knew just how much he created and how intricate he was with inventions
We liked the exhibit. The models of Leonardo’s designs are excellent. The prohibition on photography is not necessary.
A very interesting exhibition of Leonardo’s works as an artist, anatomist & innovator. His works are displayed in an interactive way so the audience could play and learn at the same time. It was a fun experience.
Interesting but also just OK, lots of things to see but not supposed to take photos which I always find annoying. Not all interactive things were working. Good if maybe the weather isn’t great but probably not worth it otherwise
Museum about Leonardo da Vinci are not rare in Italy but this rather small one was quite pleasant and well arranged. Some say it is a bit pricey for it’s size but it is basically in the Galleria which can’t’ be cheap. The museum in Siracusa is more expansive but there were significant unique articles in this one. Young people and older should enjoy it.
If you are fascinated by Da Vinci's genius and appreciate science, you will thoroughly enjoy this exhibition. It's conveniently located in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, next to the Duomo. The audio tour is an absolute must as all the signage is in Italian. There are many displays with audio narration and I suggest allowing 2.5 hours to listen to them all. I had to leave after 1.5 hours for a lunch reservation and did not get through all of the audio, which was disappointing.
It was a very interesting experience to be able to use the computers to learn about the history of everything and also to try to build them your self.
