As I write we are on a train leaving Milan for Venice with wonderful memories of our stay at Room Mate Collection Giulia. This was the first stop of a five week visit from Italy retracing the footsteps of our honeymoon 35 years ago. We arrived with such high hopes, and we are delighted to be able to say that our expectations were exceeded by this iconic city and its mix of historic sites, food and fashion. Our entire experience was enhanced by the wonderful, personal attention of our Concierge, Andrea. He personified the importance of this critical role in a hotel. He understood us and what we wanted immediately. His recommendations for a panino and classic Milanese dinner were spot on. He also directed us to some hidden gems in the city which we found and would have walked right past. His commitment did not end as we left, search for tickets for a Serie A game in Roma later in our trip. This hotel should treasure such a fine young man whose passion and enthusiasm for making our trip special was so authentic and heartfelt. If he chooses to stay in the hospitality industry, he will be a senior executive teaching others how to take care of guests in the fullness of time. Grazie Andrea. To you and your colleagues at the hotel, we are in your debt. Rob & Sandra Gilbert. Melbourne, Australia.

The best hotel in Milan!! I spent so much time before my trip deciding what hotel to stay at and so glad I chose here!! It’s directly across from Park Hyatt and directly on the outside of the galleria and duomo! You can NOT be in a better location! The staff is AMAZING!! I valeted the car and they came and took all luggage and etc. provided great recommendations for things to do, places to walk and restaurants. The rooms had great air conditioning and nice bathrooms. I’d be back 100%!!
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at this hotel was disappointing enough that I feel compelled to share it. After travelling for nearly 30 hours to reach the hotel, I was looking forward to nothing more than a smooth check-in and a chance to rest. Unfortunately, that was not the experience I received. The reception staff were consistently discourteous and unwelcoming. Rather than making exhausted guests feel accommodated, their attitude came across as dismissive and indifferent, setting an unfortunate tone from the moment we arrived. The most frustrating aspect of our stay was the complete lack of communication regarding the fire drills. During our stay, two fire alarms sounded as part of scheduled fire drills. We were given no prior warning whatsoever before the first drill, which was understandably alarming. Even more astonishingly, after the first drill concluded, no one thought it necessary to inform guests that a second drill would follow. Being abruptly awakened twice by emergency alarms after such extensive travel was not only exhausting but entirely avoidable with even the most basic level of communication. Another issue was the lack of transparency surrounding the charges placed on my card. The amount that would be authorised or held was never clearly explained during check-in. Financial matters should always be communicated accurately and professionally, and this unnecessary ambiguity created confusion that could easily have been prevented. It is disappointing because these are not issues of luxury or personal preference—they are fundamental aspects of hospitality. Courtesy, communication, and transparency are the bare minimum guests should expect from any hotel. The only redeeming aspect of our stay was the exceptional housekeeping and kitchen staff. They were consistently warm, polite, and genuinely welcoming, demonstrating the level of professionalism that was unfortunately absent at reception. Their kindness was the only reason our experience was not entirely negative. Overall, this stay fell well below expectations. A hotel can have beautiful facilities, but if guests are treated with indifference, left uninformed about significant disruptions, and provided with unclear financial information, the experience inevitably suffers. I sincerely hope management takes these concerns seriously and invests in improving staff training and guest communication, as these shortcomings significantly detracted from what should have been an enjoyable stay.
After a 6 nights stay at the Room Mate Giulia in Milan I can say that it has been by far my best experience staying in a hotel, ever. We travel to Europe at least twice a year and while we’ve had other positive stays, the Giulia was exceptional! From the friendly and caring service by the staff, every one of them, to the super helpful and enthusiastic Alessandro. The lobby is an oasis to enjoy a cocktail after a busy day of sight seeing. We stayed in 2 different Superior rooms since we left for 3 nights but returned to finish our trip in Milan, were spacious, clean, and quiet. Comfortable beds, well stocked coffee bar, ample closet space. Perfect location, half a block away from Metro stop Duomo and another 10 feet to THE Duomo and all the restaurants and shops around it.
This hotel is amazing! Great location but most of all a great staff. We were really impressed at how accommodating Rachel was. She is an absolute professional. Looking forward to coming back!!
