⭐⭐⭐ Hotel Sunflower, Milan 🇮🇹 The good 👍 ✅ Good breakfast with a decent selection. ✅ Room had individually controlled air conditioning, which was very useful during the summer. ✅ Easy access to Milan Central Station by bus, making it convenient for getting around the city The not-so-good 👎 ❌ The rooms are outdated and needs refurbishment. ❌ Unfortunately, the receptionists I encountered were not particularly welcoming and I rarely saw a smile, which affected the overall first impression. ❌ I was charged €10 per person per night for the city tax, while the guideline I had checked stated €5 per person per night, so this was confusing and worth clarifying. ❌ The mini fridge in the room is very small and doesn't cool particularly well. ❌ Water bottles in the mini fridge cost €1.50 each. As myself working in a 4-star hotel, I found this disappointing—we normally provide 2–3 bottles of still and sparkling water complimentary to our guests. ❌ If you're visiting Milan in summer and need a pedestal fan, don't expect one to be available.

Great reception staff, great breakfast, lovely stay!
I had a mixed stay at Hotel Sunflower. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean with a very comfortable bed. However, the price felt high, especially with an extra €40 city tax, and even water was not included. The biggest downside is the location, which is quite far from the city center. Overall, good service and comfort, but the cost and location are drawbacks.
Friendly and professional staff. The rooms are neat with excellent room service and immaculate housekeeping. Delicious breakfast. The ginseng coffee is highly recommended. The hotel is outside of the city centre but easily accessible using public transport. The nearby train station provides access to surrounding regions. There is a very popular gelato shop next door to the hotel and a number of authentic Italian restaurants nearby. The hotel has everything one needs for a comfortable stay. Left with memories of a wonderful trip.
Shocking experience – avoid this hotel if you value basic respect. I honestly feel sorry for the management of this hotel. Despite the location and rooms being somewhat decent, everything else was a disaster – starting with the front desk staff. When we arrived, we were “welcomed” by a young man who barely spoke any understandable English and acted with an unbelievably aggressive and hostile attitude. His body language was downright confrontational — completely unacceptable for someone in hospitality. He didn’t even bother to guide us to our room. We had to go up and down twice, completely lost, before figuring it out ourselves. If you don’t like hosting guests or simply dislike tourists, no one’s forcing you to work in a hotel. Find another job — one where you don’t have to interact with human beings. To make things worse, the hotel claims parking is available, but they conveniently fail to mention it costs an additional €20 per day. That’s misleading and dishonest. Breakfast? Somehow acceptable, but if the hotel was 3 stars! You see so many empty trays, late refills, and zero attention from staff. For the record, I usually give positive and high-rated reviews to places I visit — I believe in encouraging good service and helping others discover great experiences. But this place? There is absolutely nothing defensible here. This was, without a doubt, one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had.
