We completed the Detroit Escape Room for Downtown Detroit on a Friday afternoon in Detroit. We originally selected the "difficult" option - it was VERY hard. The full length to solve the puzzle for our group of 3 was well over 4 hours. The three of us work together as part of a team for a larger business, our team communication is good, we enjoyed the experience overall. One of the clues specifically at the UAW building we were unable to get to due to construction, so we googled what the building looks like to try to determine the clue. If you're not comfortable with walking around Detroit and appearing lost, then this game may not be for you. The tasks were educational, however as it began to get dark on a Friday night, some of the later locations are "off the main traffic streets". If you decide to do this Escape Room/ puzzle, I highly recommend, fully charged phones to navigate walking directions, comfortable shoes for 5+ miles of walking, and beginning the puzzle at the beginning of the day, rather than after lunch. For smaller groups, I would highly recommend "easy" vs. "hard".

Our group had so much fun 6/8 of us were all in and the others participated early but then just fun seeing the city and socializing. Great job! There was one clue on the final was a stretch but we also opted for the challenging game.
This was an absolute “knock one out of the park” event. I suggest you start with drinks and a bite at Sugah Please. Loved it all. I rate it 11/10.
This was so much fun!! We had recently moved to Detroit and my sister and her husband came for a visit. This was a fantastic way to see the city, learn some local history, and just have a great time! The challenges were pretty hard sometimes so the clues were very helpful. We were so excited when we figured it out. I am buying 3 more to have in the apartment for when people come to visit. Highly recommend Escapely to anyone!!
I wanted to do something different with my family so I decided to try the outdoor escape room in Detroit. It was the best decision I made on the trip. Me, my wife and daughter had a lot fun trying to solve the mystery while sightseeing the city. It is a challenge but as you answer the questions and advance in the game it gets more and more rewarding. We really enjoyed the adventure. I was worried that my 22 year old would think it was boring but she really got into it. She actually took charge of our adventure and was determined to solve the mystery. The cost is very fair and you can play at your own pace. The more people involved the better as there are so many hidden gems that one or two people may have difficulty locating. Three heads are better than two. It took us several hours which we didn't even realize because we were so into the game. Now when we travel we are looking to see if Escapely is available on our next destination.
So fun, perfect difficulty made us think but wasn’t too easy or too hard. Allowed us see cool parts of the city. Story line was interesting. Cost was fair for the experience.
It was a good trip between Christmas and New Year's weekend. Need at least 5 or 6 days to get comprehensive visit. Weather was cold, some snow days, but not all that bad. Several museum closed, especially on New Year's Day but several museum open all worth the visit. The Henry Ford (Village closes Nov 30), do the factory tour , The Charles Wright African American History very informative, The Art museum, Belle Isle (conservatory and aquarium great but crowed) all recommended. Renaissance Center high floor view is awesome but check times when restaurant open, not much else there. Do the downtown free People mover and Qline. Many good restaurants with various cultural cuisines available. People Amazingly friendly to tourist. Unable to add pictures
Was fun, but a little difficult. I understand it’s an escape room but a little direction for some of the clues would have been helpful. But would definitely do it again.
This was an absolutely amazing experience, I've been doing escape rooms several times a year for the past 10 years or so and this was a refreshing change. Walking through areas of Detroit I've never had reason to when going for sporting events or concerts, supporting small local businesses as we solved puzzles at our own pace. The puzzles were delightfully difficult but eventually we (4 35-45 year old adults and 1 12 year old) usually got them, only opening the hints on the last two. What a great way to spend a Saturday evening, 10/10
We did the Escapley in Detroit and loved it. The clues were good and fun. We definitely had to use some hints. We ran into another group doing it as well and they were enjoying it also. We learned so much about the city and my son love taking pictures of all of the art that we didn't know exsisted. I hope that you are able to make more for Detroit because we would love to do it again!
I freaking LOVED it! I thought the difficulty level was perfect. I took my team out of work for 1/2 a day as a team building exercise. NO issues with the game. The only issue we had was that I felt a little crunched for time because I was feeling pressure to get done and get back to work before we lost more work time! In the end, we only had to use clues to solve two of the puzzles, but NONE of them were too easy on us.
The experience met two needs: our girls wanted to do an escape room and we wanted to see the sights. This experience was fun, got us out walking and seeing the sights. Our issue: we accidentally opened the wrong envelope first so we unknowingly were doing it wrong and then didn’t realize the mistake until late in the game. So, kind of a bummer… no fault of the game, but just a warning to make sure you look it all over before starting because the envelopes weren’t in any order in the box.
Had a great time doing the outdoor escape room around Detroit. Was a great way to see areas of the city that ordinarily we would just walk right by. Very thoughtful clues that incorporated the city well.
We had so much fun - it was the perfect "day date" for our anniversary! The difficulty level was perfect and we were thrilled to explore Detroit and see parts of it that we had never seen before. We would definitely recommend this experience for couples or groups. We are going to try out other cities in our travels as well! Escapely was great to work with. I received an email from an actual person (not an automated bot!) immediately upon booking and another afterwards to make sure we had a good time. The only (very) minor glitch was the kit pickup at a local restaurant - it took a little while for the restaurant to locate the kit as the first few employees that I talked to didn't know what I was talking about. Not really a big issue though - they were all super nice and the kit was located within a reasonable amount of time. I recommend planning far enough in advance to have the kit sent to you directly if you want to avoid this minor blip. Overall, an amazing experience!
This was an absolutely amazing experience. I grew up right outside of Detroit and learned so many things about the city! It is perfectly organized and you can do it as fast or as slow as you want to. You can stop along the way if you’d like. Highly highly recommend. I’d give it 10 stars if I could!
If you're considering to book Detroit you will want to wait until after June. We had to bypass a few locations due to inaccessibility resulting in not being able to complete it. If we'd known of the limitations ahead of time we would have chose another day. The game itself was good. Easy to understand directions with visual and audio interactions.
We enjoyed the game very much! This was a great way to get to know somewhere you have never been before! The 4 of us had a lot of fun and found the difficulty level to be good. The only thing I would say is a couple of the places were either under construction or no longer there. But we were able to figure things out eventually! Thank you for creating such a fun way to see the city! We will definitely be purchasing another game in the future!
the escape room itself was so much fun, my friends and i had a blast trying to solve it. unfortunately the place that were were supposed to pick the game up from was extremely busy. when we first got there the girl at the front had no idea what we were talking about. stood around for almost 45 minutes waiting bc she said she was going to ask the owner. we got it eventually though and had an amazing time in detroit!
This experience was amazing & fun! It was a little challenging; yet doable with a few hints. My favorite part was going into little pubs and seeing all the murals, art work & architecture!
its a really good escape room place i suggest more people do this outdoor escape room it was really fun and my friends loved it to
What a fun adventure through downtown Detroit! Challenging but solvable puzzles, and a fun story to follow. Made for a great afternoon on the town!
We had an amazing time! It was so cool how much of the landmarks and monuments we actually had to use to figure out the clues. And we love that the hints still let you figure things out, it doesn't just give you the answer obviously. We used this on our trip to Detroit and it has been a highlight of the trip so far! A very well thought out game, we'll be looking into the other locations when we go on other trips in the future.
This virtual escape room puzzle game was absolutely amazing! I loved how there were so many cool puzzles to solve all around the city. I played with my mom. We were both born and raised in Detroit and we love downtown. There were so many amazing landmarks for us to visit and spectacular puzzles for us to solve. We felt like real spies. Using the kit provided and our phones, we had a great time getting to the bottom of the mystery at hand. In addition to the amazing puzzles, we also appreciated how everything was situated. The layout of the game was genius. We were afraid we'd need bikes or something at least, but it was not bad to walk. The day we chose had particularly lovely weather and we were able to take a nice stroll and make it to each destination without taxing effort. The concept of this puzzle game was amazing. I was impressed by how well the puzzles were integrated into actual Detroit landmarks and real-life signs, art pieces, and other fixtures. God bless the creators of this puzzle. Words truly cannot express how much fun we had! If you are planning on embarking upon the mission, I would suggest you do so on a nice day with pleasant weather. Dress appropriately so that you don't become too hot or too cold. Also, wear comfortable shoes, as you will do a bit of walking. We did have to stop by a restroom and get something to drink because we did this in summer time, but the whole process was smooth. It made for a wonderfully memorable day.
