This was an excellent historic and architectural tour. Our guide spent the first 20 minutes, giving us a very interesting background history of the height of Detroit and its demise to its rebirth. She was extremely knowledgeable about the economic details of its rebirth and renovation. We toured numerous buildings, which gave increased insight into the restoration of the historic core of Detroit as well as the return of business community to Central Detroit. It was terrific and I would strongly recommend.

Michael K is an enthusiastic historian regarding the personalities that built and in many cases rebuilt the extraordinary buildings that dominate downtown Detroit. We were lucky to have him as our guide for a walking tour during our first hours in the city and learned so much. Came away with a real appreciation for this beautiful city with a complicated history. Thank you Michael.
Incredible experience. Dildora is so knowledgeable about the city city, it's history, it's architecture, it's current ongoings- I felt like an insider as I was on my tour. She knows something about everything that's going on!
Our tour guide, Michael, was terrific. We got great insight into the city and history and it was a pleasant tour.
It’s a wonderful way to share with out of town guests all the beauty that has been restored to its grandeur. Plus the fascinating facts and knowledge our guide shared to make it even more interesting. The guide was so interactive which made it so enjoyable. The history, walk along the water in hart plaza and through the city makes you proud of Detroit and want to explore more.
We had a wonderful tour and learned tons about the history and architecture of Detroit. It was an excellent mix of indoor and outdoor walking. Our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. It's very obvious that she loves her city.
Diladore was great!! Very knowlegable and took us to unique places. Detroit has gone through a lot.
The tour with Mike was very educational, with the information being presented on a layman's level, however Mike was able to answer all questions at a higher level, as well. My daughter and I learned so much on the tour and we'll go home remembering the beautiful architecture and the Michiganders that contributed to it!
Our tour guide Dildora did a great job of guiding us through the history and architecture of downtown Detroit.
It was very interesting and such a beautiful city. Mike our guide was gracious, informative and very helpful. We liked him and was impressed with his knowledge.
As a former Detroiter I was so impressed with the changes, and rehabilitation. Great tour, made me proud
Great selection and information! Buildings were stunning
Dildora’s knowledge and love for Detroit is very evident throughout the tour. Seeing so many of the city’s old and new sites together, the history and background of the people and places truly made the tour excellent. We were delighted that we saw so much more then what we expected within the timeframe. We would highly recommend her.
Really enjoyed this tour, very knowledgeable guide. She also gave great recommendations on places to visit and dine at afterwards
Detroit is not what you think. I had never been to Detroit, just heard the stories and saw the photos of the abandoned buildings. So with an open mind we wanted to see what had become of it. Dildora was an excellent guide, and ambassador to the city. She was very knowledgable and we were able to get answers to everything we wondered about. My husband petered out along the way, although the pace was very manageable. We left him with a cold drink and Dildora and I carrried on. I would highly recommend this tour for tourists and locals alike.
Very interesting. Deep drive in to amazing architectural buildings that have been brought back to their original glory.
Great way to experience Detroit for the first time! Learned so much interesting history. Our guide Dildora was awesome.
Such a great experience. Learned so much history about my new city.
This was a very interesting and educational tour. The buildings we saw are all beautiful. We enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it.
Our guide (Dedora) made our Tour of Detroit architecture and extraordinary experience. She was passionate about the topic, was knowledgeable and was able to communicate the beauty and significance of our various stops clearly and well paced.
our guide had a lot of facts and history it was well paced and we learnt a lot group size facilitated a lot of good conversation but she was difficult to understand
If you’re looking for more than just a parade of cool buildings, this Detroit architectural walking tour delivers. It strikes a great balance between the city’s architectural gems and their fascinating history. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, bringing Detroit’s past and present to life with enthusiasm, insight, and lived experience. Honestly, the tour could just as easily be called “Nothing Stops Detroit,” given the recurring theme of the city’s resilience and reinvention. I went with three teenagers, and even they stayed interested and engaged throughout—a testament to the guide’s storytelling. The walking distance was very manageable, with plenty of stops and breaks that kept the pace comfortable. Highly recommended.
Dildora Damisch is an excellent guide. Personable + well researched + able to present interesting information in a summarized overview. I really enjoyed her tour + wouldn’t hesitate to book another one with her. I learned a lot.
Learned so much from Dildora on this tour and got to see the inside of buildings I never would have known to venture to myself otherwise! I was in town for Movement Music Festival and needed something to do for a couple of hours to pass the time since I extended my flight to mid-afternoon and this tour was just perfect for that.
A huge thank you to the amazing, one-of-a-kind Detroit tour guide, Dildora Damisch — fluent in 6 languages (including English and Russian fluently) for her 2hours+ breathtaking architectural and historical tour of downtown Detroit and for her insightful recommendations on what to explore on our own in Motor City: legendary landmarks such as the Fisher Building, Guardian Building, Penobscot Building, Detroit Masonic Temple, Michigan Central Station, and many other architectural icons and masterpieces of style which you must see in Detroit in 2026!!!
Detroit truly surprised us in the best possible way. This tour opened our eyes to the beauty, resilience, and unique energy of the city. Amazing experience from start to finish! The architecture was stunning, and the stories behind the buildings were absolutely fascinating. Our guide was fantastic — professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. She made the tour feel personal and interactive rather than scripted. You could really feel how much she cares about Detroit and wants others to fall in love with it too. I left with a completely different view of the city and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend this tour!
This tour exceeded all expectations. We explored places we would never have noticed ourselves and learned so much about Detroit’s incredible comeback. The guide’s enthusiasm was contagious, and the place of the tour was perfect. Highly recommend for both tourists and locals.
The perfect introduction to Detroit. Beautiful buildings, fascinating history, hidden spots, and great local recommendations. The guide made everyone feel welcome and created such a positive atmosphere throughout the tour. I would absolutely do it again.
What a wonderful way to experience Detroit beyond the typical tourist attractions! Dildora shared so many interesting historical facts and hidden gems. I especially loved how she connected the city’s past with its exciting future. Very memorable and inspiring tour! Thank you very much, Dildora! I really recommend this tour guide!
This tour is one of the best tours I have taken. It is obvious that the Guide really knows and loves Detroit...it shows in every story she tells and every detail she shares. I have learned so much about the past the present and the future of the city.
Dildora provided an excellent tour. Organization was impeccable, she knows when to attend places of interest to avoid crowds and have extra attention from staff. Dildora’s knowledge of Detroit history is amazing, she provided such a detailed Explanation of the city rich history one would hardly find in many history books. She obviously enjoys her job and makes you feel as her guest rather than a tour guide . Highly recommend!
The guide we had was very good. I think her name was Dilidora. She explained everything so good with all the buildings when we were walking.
Detroit has so many gems of architecture. It is great to be able to find interior spaces to experience many different styles. My favorite was the Guardian Building with the Aztec themed Art Deco styling.
Excellent guide! We learned so much history of this truly one-of-a kind city. It’s so beautiful and at times - breathtaking. I recommend this tour to everyone!
Our tour guide Dildora was amazing! She had an in-depth knowledge of the history of Detroit, architecture and surroundings. We visited different buildings and often gathered in a lobby area where we could easily listen to all she shared.
This is a wonderful tour of Detroit. It highlights a lot of architecture but also covers plenty of history...and the history of Detroit is fascinating! The tour guide speaks six languages and is clearly invested in sharing the best of her city. She also confirmed with me twice in advance and let me know how to find her, which I appreciated as a solo traveler.
You must take this walking tour. Even if you are a local, you will never see the architecture, or get the backstory, the way you will on this tour. Ask for Mike as your guide. He personally lived Detroit's fall from grace and against all odds rise to it's current glory. More to come from this city clearly on the UP! Lots of impressive architecture, history, and cool street art.
Wonderful time with Michael, our knowledgeable and friendly guide. Small hiccup in scheduling, but otherwise perfect. Glad to have found this tour when all other Detroit tour groups had cut back for the season.
The walking is very modest, the chosen sites are indeed hidden treasures. Hearing a little about Detroit history was informative, and could be expanded.
a nice walking tour for major buildings in downtown Detroit. very enjoyable and informative. enjoyed the background of the buildings
The buildings in Detroit are awesome!! Who knew? Our guide was very knowledgeable and very interesting.
We met up with Dildora on 23 September and she took my husband and me on the walking tour. We had such a good time and learned so much! I have never been to Detroit before and had no idea of the rebirth of the downtown. She explained that really it was about great business leaders AND great vision and leadership. As she pointed out various buildings which had been abandoned but reborn and repurposed, we were just so impressed by what has been done and what is still planned to be done. I love the fact that she has cultivated relationships with numerous businesses and they allow her to bring in her tours to show them original architecture, ceilings, windows, artwork and hardware right alongside renovation work. On another note, I mentioned to her that I didn’t see many homeless people outside, and she told us that the city is also repurposing some buildings for safe shelter for homeless people or families and that is also impressive. Dildora has quite a wealth of knowledge about Detroit and I believe the city has a very bright future that pays homage to older architecture.
Amazing tour! Learned a lot about Detroit and its history, saw beautiful buildings and had a great time
The walking is not that bad and we stopped a lot to discuss and learn new things. Mike was very nice and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the tour very much.
Mike was a fantastic, knowledgeable guide! Very much enjoyed learning the ins and outs of Detroit's history thru the architecture
Yes, Mike had a good knowledge of Detroit. Personable and easy to talk to. Enjoyed the history of some of the great old buildings as well as the business behind the old and new Detroit
Due to a scheduling fluke, I had the privilege of being the only person on my tour. Dildora is warm, open, and very knowledgeable about so many aspects of Detroit. Her passion for these tours is very evident, and we covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time. I was very inspired and energized by all of the incredible architecture that we visited—especially when you see images of what these buildings looked like just 10-20 years ago. Downtown Detroit is a true preservation success story, and this tour is a must for anyone visiting!
Guide was great, lots of local knowledge to share, really helped us better appreciate the area. Didn’t know much about history of Detroit but now have a better sense of how the city got where it is today.
Very kind and knowledgeable guide. Answered any questions with detail, was clearly a part of the Detroit community, and her information didn't feel 'cookie cutter' or rote. Clearly loves Detroit and is optimistic for its future. We left inspired and excited for Detroit.
Great tour; very informative. Walked short distances so should be ok for those not used to big walks. The architecture and history of Detroit is wonderfully presented.
