Valet was very polite and quick. The process was excellent. Paris checked us in with efficiency and refinement. She answered every question that I never had to ask. The journey to, and the room itself, is stunning. Great view (spend the extra on the corner views). Great vibes.

The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are cozy and well decorated. I liked the restaurant, Presley’s. The lobby and restaurant staff are very friendly. It is in walking distance from many restaurants, stores, and attractions. You have a wonderful view of Comerica Park on one side of the building. A couple things that I noticed: The windows in the room I was staying in was not properly sealed or something because I could hear everything going on outside. I wasn’t expecting the nights to be quiet since we’re in Detroit, but I could clearly hear the conversations of people walking on the sidewalks. It was like the windows were wide open. Additionally, we asked for the pullout couch to be set up since we were leaving for a baseball game and the granite table was heavy and hard for us to move. When we got back, it wasn’t set up and we had to retrieve sheets from downstairs. They had no clean pillows so we had to use some from our master bedroom.
Don’t waste your money It’s advertised as a five star hotel After about an Hour of checking in Felt more like a three star I visited the hotel from my wife’s birthday It was absolutely stunning. Don’t get me wrong. I had it arranged that there would be a large bouquet of flowers for her on our arrival There was none After no answer from the concierge desk I decided to run downstairs and figure out what was the issue? I was told that they attempted to get flowers, but when they didn’t have white roses, they just scrapped the ideal altogether I asked why wouldn’t you contact me and we could figure something else out And very passive aggressively I was told by a young man in a suit and glasses I don’t really know what you want me to do Do you want me to call and find you some flowers? I politely said no thank you and returned to my room With the exception of the doorman I will say the staff there is very unfriendly It seems as though any questions you have is a huge inconvenience to them Anyways, if you wanna check out the David Whitney Walk in and walk out You’ll get the gist of it My last day was at the Shinola Now that’s a Five star hotel I’ll never be back to the David Whitney
Spent two weekends night there. The hotel is beautiful. My city view room was very nice but the TV volume was not working well and making strange noises. When I mentioned it to the front desk, they sent up a technician who could not fix it. Never heard from the front desk again . No offer of a room change or any type of accommodation. They didn’t seem to care. When I checked out, I suggested that they not book the room again until it was fixed. Had the front desk been more caring, would have rated this hotel 5 stars . Please fix it - avoid Rm .505!
Our stay at the Hotel David Whitney was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The staff was very welcoming, the room was spotless and beautifully decorated, and the bed was absolutely awesome. The location is also perfect for exploring the area! Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for an exceptional experience. While there be sure to stop at the library bar and visit Kevin the bartender to to off your stay!
