Great experience with our guides Gerson, Eliasar, and Francisco! Highly recommend this tour for a truly authentic and varied experience. We discovered different activities throughout the day and got to experience many aspects of Mexican culture, traditions, food, and local life. The guides were very knowledgeable and made the whole day unforgettable! From the French, Holland and Chilean family

Itinerary
After being picked up at your hotel in Mexico City, you will head first to Coyoacán, which name in Náhuatl means “place of coyotes“. Here, your guide will give you a brief explanation on the origins and importance of this quarter and the surroundings, and you’ll have time to walk around its streets and if you want to, have a light breakfast (at your expense). The Spanish used the area as their headquarters during the conquest of the Aztec Empire and made it the first capital of New Spain between 1521 and 1523. The village remained completely independent of Mexico City through the colonial period into the 19th century. The borough of Coyoacan, along with its bohemian ambience and diversity of activities to do and places to visit, make its historic center a highly popular place to visit.
For those who select the Blue House option: visit the iconic Frida Kahlo Museum (Blue House), where the artist was born, lived, and created many of her most meaningful works. Explore rooms preserved as they were in the 1950s, view personal belongings, artwork, photographs, and artifacts shared with Diego Rivera, and learn about Frida’s life, legacy, and deep connection to her Coyoacán home. Stroll through the enclosed garden, admire its symbolic design, and watch a short film that offers insight into Frida’s artistic vision.
For those who select the Red House option: step inside the newly opened Casa Kahlo (Red House) for an intimate look into the life and legacy of one of Mexico’s most celebrated artists. As you walk through the museum’s thoughtfully curated rooms, you’ll discover personal belongings, photographs, letters, and artifacts that reveal the emotional, cultural, and political world that shaped Frida’s art and identity.
The last stop is Ciudad Universitaria where your guide will explain to you about the murals of Rectoría and the Central Library belonging to the main campus of National University. Your tour ends with your hotel drop-off.
After getting acquainted with Frida's life, the tour continues towards one her favorite places: Xochimilco, or the place of flowers. Here, not only will you get information on its origins, going back to the pre-hispanic times, but you will also you enjoy a ride on a trajinera, a traditional boat of the area. After the ride, you’ll have spare time to walk around the crafts market or try the delicious food sold on the surrounding area.

Our guide Gerson & driver Hipólito were wonderful. Hipólito managed the crazy traffic to Coyoacán & Xochimilco & back expertly & cautiously while Gerson’s boundless knowledge about Mexico’s history captivated us at every site. He provided helpful tips about food & museums to visit too. We loved Coyoacán & would like to go back to spend more time exploring. The trajinera ride in Xochimilco was so much fun in spite of the thunderstorm. Would highly recommend this particular tour to anyone looking to experience Mexico City to the fullest!
I can't really comment on the tour, as they simply did not show up at the appointed time and place. I sent emails and texts in the days before, but heard nothing from them. I called the phone number, but there was no option to even leave a voicemail. Finally, five hours after they didn't show up they responded to my email from two days earlier claiming that they had told me the trip could not go forward as planned. I have no record of any such communication, and in any event they should have responded to my email if that were the case. An entire day of a family vacation ruined.
Geo & Hector were amazing! They were so sweet and made us feel comfortable and safe the whole time! We went to Frida khalo and they gave us such good tips throughout the whole trip.
My wife and I had an amazing experience with my private tour guide- Hector Montreal Aragon. From start to finish, he was knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly attentive. His interpretations regarding Murals in UNAM, Frida Kayla Museum and Xochimilco boat ride are very impressive. His readiness to answer our every question truly made our tour special. The entire day was smooth, well organized. I highly recommend this guide to anyone looking for a personalized, informative, and memorable experience. Absolutely exceptional!
This tour was a great day tour to the southern part of Mexico City, seeing the Mexico City University / Azteca stadium area, visiting the Frido Kahlo Museum, stopping at the market in Coyoacán for a traditional lunch (which was very good!), spending some free time in the historic city of Coyoacán doing some shopping, and then taking a ~1 hour boat ride on the canals at Xochimilco, which was amazing to see all the boats and vendors along the river. The guide / driver did an excellent job and provided a lot of great information. The total tour duration was ~9 hours, including about 3 hours drive time between the various sites.
Sergio and Barbara were so great!! Very informative and helpful. It was a great tour around areas we wouldn’t have gotten the chance to see
Our tour was incredible ! Mario, Frederico and Gerson were the best team and made this entire excursion smooth from beginning to end.
Not a bad experience per se but pretty lackluster especially when you account for the fact that this is $200/pp. Drove to the university where we parked and looked at the outside of a stadium for 5 minutes then left. Drove to Xochimilco where the canal ride was fine but relatively brief (<1 hour in an 8 hour tour). No real lecture or context from The guide on the boat ride. Drove to Coyoacan where the guide gave us maybe 10 minutes of light overview then we were left on our own for 2 hours and 15 minutes to have lunch. Not sure why we set up the tour to have more than 1/4 of it just be waiting around randomly. Then we walked on our own to the Frida Kahlo house which was amazing. Guide did not come in to the house or help us with navigating it though. You should just buy a ticket to Frida Kahlo and uber there then walk around then uber to Xochimilco. Will save you $300 for 2 people with a minimal loss of additional context and it’s not hard to figure out what to do or where to go.
Our private tour with Ligia was a good experience. She picked us up on time, and shared her credentials, and made us feel welcome and safe. She was informative, as well as answered my husband’s million questions. She let us take our time during all the stops, and she didn't rush us through sites, and gave us good recommendations for food. She navigated the traffic well and we were not bored during the drive times.
Ligia was an AMAZING guide. She was prompt, personable and well versed in all sites. Plus she kept offering to answer any questions and take photos for us. She works for Amigo Tours and I appreciated the fact that they checked in with me multiple times leading up to the tour and I didn't have any trouble changing my pick up location when I changed hotels. If you're on the fence, this is your sign to book it. Ligia took care of tickets, we got to skip lines and she translated for us when we shopped on the boat and hired a Mariachi band.
Full day of activities with a focus on Frida Khalo and Diego Rivera. Our guide, Leticia, and driver, Marco, got us to each stop despite Mexico City's infamous traffic. What really appealed to us was Leticia's encyclopedic knowledge of Mexico's history, art and culture. Ask for her. You won't be disappointed.
Very good tour with Miriam and Jose Pepe 😋 Very well organized with nice and complete explanations. We learnt a lot of things!
Super interesting. Driver was great — Jose was a patient and made it thru lots of traffic during busy hours. Rubin is a gem! So smart and articulate and a great person to have on your trip. He waited for us, explained everythung in a very interesting and understandable way. Just had a great time! Wish he had them again tomorrow … for the rest of our trip
Christian was our guide and Johnny was our driver. We had a fabulous day that was well-paced and full of great information. Christian was so attentive and made sure we got the most out of our tour. We were so lucky to have him as our guide. He customized it to what we were interested in and made sure we got to do everything we wanted to do. We learned a lot from Christian and it was great to have this tour on our last day to bring all of the information together. We highly recommend this tour!
Amigo travel were very accommodating. After Frida Kahlo we wanted to have lunch at St Angle Inn about 20 mins drive. They drove us there and gave us 1 hr time. Guide Lilly was very knowledgeable, driver was very courteous and helpful. Boat ride not so exciting. Mexico University interesting.
LOVED every minute of it. Yair is an exceptionally knowledgable guide. Abraham an accomplished driver in a traffic-filled city. The variety of Mexico City is vast and this duo made sure we saw as much as possible in one day. Highly recommended.
Terrible. Any tour I did with this company we spent more time in stores and restaurants that were forced upon you. First stop on this tour was a silver store with a 5 minute presentation and then ample time to spend your money. Xochimilco was fun but then off to a crappy restuarant. Much of the day was wasted. By the time we reached Coyoacan, an interesting neighborhood, there was little time to explore and no information provided about its history. Frida Kahlo, is an indeed a highligh. Get your tickets and go on your own.
This is an excellent way to spend a day in Mexico City. Highly recommend. Alberto was a great tour guide. We saw a ton of different things and had a really good time.
Ruben and Armando were professional, informative , fantastic guides. We learned a lot, had a great time, lots of fun. The university was worth the detour.
Diana knows so much! She taught us so much history! Jorge was a fantastic and safe driver. Very good day. The best part was learning all about the mural and floating on the water in xochimilco. I liked that we stopped for many bathroom breaks. I would have liked to see more of xochimilco and learn more about the history.
Awesome. Mr. Eleazar Goppar was an excellent guider. He explain all the Tour and help us a lot. We absolute recommend him
grest experience and learning. Coyoacan and Xochimilco are good places for food, sightseeing and cultural tasting.
Ruben gave us a fabulous tour of the National University, Cayoacan, the Frida Kahlo home and the Xochimilco boat ride on the canal. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and personable and is an èxcellent tour guide. Abraham is a great driver and dealt with the traffic deftly. Also very friendly and helpful, plus the car was clean and comfortable. We would highly recommend both of them.
We LOVED Miriam and Arnold! Miriam was incredibly knowledgeable and shared with us many interesting facts of Mexico City, Xochimilco, Coyoacán and Frida Kahlo Museum. Arnold was a very efficient driver and very patient. 10/10 would recommend!
Marco & Christian were amazing tour guides. Would def recommend to anyone interested in this activity! 10/10
Ligia ha sido una de las mejores guías que me ha tocado — experta, amable y con excelente sentido de humor. Fue una experiencia muy completa, tranquila, educativa y alegre. Muchísimas gracias, Ligia! Ligia has been one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had — expert, charismatic, and with a great sense of humor. Overall, it was a comprehensive experience; we saw and learned a lot, while also enjoying ourselves. Thank you so much, Ligia!
Our guide, Ligia, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and professional, and happy to converse with us and answer all our questions, and was very personable. At one point she even bought Mexican handmade snacks for us to try. When we were in the Coyoacán district, it turned out we were only a few minutes from where she lived, so she was able to give us excellent restaurant recommendations for where to eat lunch.
Our tour guides Mario and Leonardo were great. But a couple of things to be aware of this tour. You are taken to a plata store/shop first. This stop takes time away from your tour. Lunch restaurant was okay. Our visit to Xochimilco was very short because people confused the bathroom place with a bar and our five minute stop turned into a 30 minute stop. We spent a lot of time waiting for people too.
Mario was a wonderful guide. Extremely knowledgeable on the rich history of Xochimilco and other places we visited. Very helpful with recommendations for local food. Would definitely recommend to others. Gracias Mario!
I had the best time in Mexico City thanks to Ligia with Amigo Tours. She was so informative and I felt like I was with a family member touring the city. She was inviting and gave us insights and details about the places with visited! Definitely coming back and touring with Amigo Tours again!
Cristian and Allen were awesome. We have a private tour, Cristian was our primary tour guide and Allen was our driver. Cristian was very knowledgeable and used his Mexican history education (university) to make for a very rich leaning experience. A truly lovely day and enjoyed the company and full day of great sightseeing and learning or the local history and culture. Highly recommend! Ask for the Cristian and Allen team!
I highly recommend booking a private tour as we had such an amazing experience. Our tour guide Cristian was amazing and super knowledgable. You could tell he has a passion for history and sharing the knowledge he obtained in university. Throughout our time we were given the history of the site we were visiting but in a fun and interesting manner. Having a guide and our wonderful drive, Alan, made it such a pleasurable experience and worry free. I highly recommend a private tour to get the most out of your experience because there is nothing that beats the small group setting and ability to engage in conversation and having your questions answered by your guide.
Ligia was great, she gave us a lot of background information about Xochimilko, Frida Kahlo, and Coyoacan. We visited Xochimilko flower market, Frida Kahlo’s studio, the olympic stadium and the university which were not expected but lovely to see. She went above and beyond adopting a plan for the day based on our preferences.
Alberto and our driver were incredible. We were greeted at the agreed location and time. Our driver navigated us safely in a pristine car with a fabulous air conditioning and great music! We have experienced many tours through the years but Alberto was by far, the most knowledgeable, personable, and treated us like family, not strangers. He was generous with factual insights beyond our destination locations. He was sure to give us tips to make the most of our experience. What an experience! By the end I felt like we were parting with a friend, not our guides. I am grateful for their time and expertise. I absolutely recommend them both for a flawless day of memories and adventure.
Our tour guide, Oscar, was rude and a lot of the information he gave us about the different sites that we visited was inaccurate. Our itinerary was also changed at the last minute, which messed up our plans for the day. The activities were great, but having a bad tour guide made it a mixed experience for our group.
Overall, a good tour. Our guide Mario was very knowledgeable and gave us very good information. Everything was on time and organised.
Ligia was an amazing tour guide. She’s a great driver and is very knowledgeable about all of the sites. She always made sure that we went at our own pace, answered all of our questions and took great pictures. We went to Frida Kahlo’s House, Xochimilco and Coyoacán. It’s a great way to spend a day in Mexico City and gave us a very rounded overview of the City. Definitely ask for Ligia, if she’s available, and you’ll be sure to have an amazing trip!
TERRIBLE TOUR GUIDE. Héctor was the worst guide I have ever met. Here's a recap of this awful experience. The guide: 1. Lacked communication skills 2. Was rude, smug, and extremely unprofessional. 3. When I tried to talk to him about how I was unaware the tour was so long and worried about my elderly parents, he interrupted me and laughed at my face. 4. He then proceeded to say side comments in front of the entire group referencing me and my family. 5. He made sure we were the last to enter the museum, making us wait extra time on the sun.
Our Tour Guide, Ligia was prompt at our AirBnb for our 9 o clock pickup which proceeded to a fun run of events for the day. We felt like each site was accommodated with the appropriate amount of time allowing for flexibility for shopping or eating as needed. The tour is organized smoothly without TOO much time in the car and plenty of time out exploring. We were very thankful for our driver and all of Liagas knowledge on CDMX and the history of the places we went.
Ligia our guide and Abraham our driver were wonderful! The tour was perfectly paced from pickup at the hotel, a short walk to enjoy UNAM’s campus, beautiful Coyoacan, and a boozy boat lunch at Xochimilco. Ligia was extremely knowledgeable and funny and shared a lot of her life with us. Highly recommend booking her for your private tour!
Miriam was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable about Mexico history. She an the driver was very respectful an courteous. Though I was very disappointed that the tour included Freda Kahalo museum we stopped by and only then I was told the place closes on a Monday...I felt like I could have been told this prior and given the option to choose somewhere else, but no ....
This was a great, comprehensive all-day private tour. Victor had a lot of knowledge and a great personality. Would totally recommend the tour to others and book others with the same company! Victor was amazing!!!
Enjoyed the Frida Kahlo museum but the Xochimilco tour was not good. The water was murky and the food was horrible (and way overpriced). The Coyoacan market was good.
We requested an English speaking guide. Our guide’s English was minimal at best and she didn’t seem to know much of anything about the places we were going. Xochimilco, Coyoacaun and Casa Azul are well worth visiting. She was a nice woman but basically just drove us around in silence. I’ve had Uber drivers in CDMX that shared more about the city. We paid a lot of money for a private guided tour and didn’t get it.
Abraham and Alicia were fabulous guides and made us feel like queens. I enjoyed a lot the tour and the knowledge of our tour guide Alicia.
This was a great, comprehensive all-day private tour. Alexa had a lot of knowledge and a great personality in addition to a loud voice. Alan was a great driver. Alexa even bought us basket tacos and a small gift. Would totally recommend the tour to others and book others with the same company!
Roberto was very knowledgeable and gave lot of fun facts along with making evryone feel comfortable throughout the day
Andreas was the best host, I would recommend this trip to anyone who wanted to see the city by a local
Kevin was going great at keeping track of a large group Xochimilco was crazy busy on a Sunday It would be nice to have a little more time than one hour at the frida kahlo house but it all worked out
