Thirty minutes before our scheduled pickup time, Majestic Tours Mexico sent a message saying they were overbooked. They gave only 2 options - go on a tour in a language we didn’t speak, or pick another day. We had booked our tour over 3 months in advance, and obviously neither of these options would be acceptable. When we advised MTM that these wouldn’t work, absolutely no response. We had to reach out to Viator to get a refund! Having booked over 3 months in advance, less than 30 minutes notice of overbooking seemed a bit irresponsible.

Our excursion was extremely disappointing. First of all the van was 30 minutes late. What we expected and what we received were quite different. There was a talk regarding Leonardo Di Caprio and the Titanic and we were told we were stopping at the jewelry store where the famous engraver who made the rings for Leo Di Caprio. Pedro said take 15 minutes. We were there over an hour. Then we had churros across the street that we had to pay for. One of my biggest take aways was to tour Frida Kahlo’s house. We did a drive by to take a Ed photo of the house, not an inside view of her life. We were extremely upset. When we visited Coyoacán we were told 30 minutes, but we ended with about 15 minutes. Then we were off to Xochimilco and we were told that we would be getting lunch. No where did it say we would have to pay. Once we got on the boat, it began to thunder and rain very hard. I understand that we have no control over the weather but the people running the route should have been prepared with rain slickers like the other boat tours had. We were all soaking wet. There has to be communication between Viator and the company they subcontract with. I feel that we should be given our money back. It was false advertising.
PLEASE READ THE FINE PRINT: we were expecting to visit Frida Kahlo’s Blue House & it was literally a drive by with a few minutes to take pictures in FRONT of the home. A TRUE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! Instead we spent almost an hour at a Silver Shop as our first stop! It was supposed to be a quick 15 minute stop. UNAM was also just a “drive by” with a mini stop by the stadium for a quick picture. In Xochimilco, a lunch was ordered to eat on the Trinera/boats which was an additional $300 MNX per person with drinks at an additional cost. Although a delicious lunch, o totally unexpected expense. To top it off, it started to rain heavily 10 minutes into our departure from the platform. We were soaked, the boat took in water and basically we turned around so never really experienced this tour. Another disappointment. Our group leaders didn’t provide us with rain jackets like other groups had. I know that tour companies can’t control the weather but they could definitely prepare for it. Had we not wasted time at the silver shop, we might have enjoyed a longer ride. Our driver & tour guide were fine but friendly. We found out that although we purchased our trip through Viator, the company sub-contracts another company therefore itineraries may not match as in our case.
We had an amazing experience, the tour guide was punctual, knowledgeable and friendly. The group wasn't as big and we were able to connect amidst the language differences.
Poorly organized and tour guides do not follow schedule. The only real experience is xochimilco and it was very short and late. Spent more time in the car than at any of the locations. All other locations listed are just a drive by's.
It was an excellent experience, my sisters and I love the whole tour. We would do it again. I highly recommend the tour to anyone.
Highly recommend this! I was solo but joined a group and had the best day of my life. The guide was so fun and accomodating.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience touring Coyuacan, Xochimilco, and other spots! Our tour guide Jesus was amazing, he really made it a wonderful experience. And the food and drinks option were a surprising bonus! We will be doing this tour again!!!
Dante was very helpful throughout the tour. He was explaining the attractions along the way and gave us a heads up about lunch.
the river experience was not that impressive. the most impressive part is the tour guide Sergio. He was able to explain everything from the history of mexico. He was very accommodating of any questions under the sun. I felt the trip very worth it because of the knowledge that was given to me. Kudos to Senor Sergio!!
The tour guide Manuel was great! Fun, informative and zero BS. We were a small group, so we all fit in a 12 pax van. Just wished we knew before hand that the House of Frida Kahlo would be closed on Monday, which was the date we took the tour. For the rest, it was a great trip. In Xiochimilco we had some good food, and drinks ;), only thing missing was some music! We fell in love with Coyoacan!!! What a vibrant city, with great food and awesome drinks. Wished we could have spent more time there! What was also a treat, when we visited Plateria Rafael; he was the artist for the jewelry in movies Titanic and Romeo & Juliet, both starring Leonardo Di Caprio
Overall a great experience! Our driver- Juan Manuel was great! Loved his knowledge and explanation of all the areas and the surrounding areas. He had good humor and was patient.
Had an amazing time! Highly recommend this tour. Be prepared to bring cash for food, drinks, & souvenirs. No credit cards taken.
The tour of Xochimilco, Casa de Frida Kahlo, and Coyoacán had some real highlights, especially the boat ride through the canals of Xochimilco. The trajineras were colorful, full of music and energy, and it was a truly fun, festive experience. We were even offered drinks on board—but be aware, they weren’t free, which caught some people by surprise and they weren’t cheap! Unfortunately, the rest of the tour wasn’t as well-paced. The beginning felt slow, and our time in Coyoacán was far too short to explore such a charming neighborhood. The stop at Plaza de Toros didn’t add much to the experience, and the long, drawn-out visit to an indoor market at the end felt like a forced shopping detour. Overall, the boat ride and Frida Kahlo Museum were worth it. 8-9 hours wasn’t necessary, it could’ve been done in 4-5 hours…
The tour was misleading. They advertised a visit to the Frida Kahlo Museum, but in reality, they just passed by without actually entering. Very disappointing, especially for those who were excited about experiencing the museum. Clearer communication and honesty in the tour description are needed. On top of that, we wasted a lot of time at multiple souvenir shops and listening to uninteresting information that didn’t add value to the experience. If you’re going to Xochimilco (it was the only good thing) , you’ll have plenty of time to buy souvenirs there, so the extra shopping stops felt unnecessary. What made the experience worse was the behavior of the tour guide — he was rude and yelled at the Latin American guests, while being noticeably nicer and more accommodating to the Canadian guests. I wouldn’t recommend this tour if you’re expecting a genuine cultural experience.
I loved our tour guides. I felt very safe going on this group tour. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to see inside the Frida Kahlo museum but Xochimilco was the best part. Walking around Coyoacán was also fantastic.
The guide, Marco, is great!!! Makes the excursion enjoyable, laughs and explains everything phenomenal The Frida house does not include the visit inside, I would have stayed longer in Coyoacan, it is beautiful and was very little and much less time in UNAM Xochimilco lovely walk, the horrible food you are forced to eat there (though economical) Overall pretty good
We got to know the famous Blue House, we took some pictures and in the Trajineras we strolled, ate, full tequila, mariachis and we could make a very good rumba!
I loved this Tour, the attention of the guide and the explanation was excellent, the trajinera ride I loved, I will definitely come back!
I found the staff very good and the accommodation was excellent, the activities we carried out were very interesting
The view was very nice, everything was great, the staff were very friendly and attentive, good service and I would go again if I could.
The service was impeccable throughout the ride, always friendly, attentive and very professional. Excellent experience!
Vanessa and Miguelito were spectacular. It was our first time in Mexico City and they were very friendly, always very attentive. After the tour we were taken to the Latin American tower to the 21st floor where we could see the Palace of Fine Arts and all of Northern Mexico City. We loved this experience.
We went with the guides Vanessa and Miguel Angel. Both were very attentive and made sure we enjoyed the whole trip. We also ate rich and had a great time in the boats of Xochimilco. It's worth it!
