Very nice trip but a litle long (12 hours). Profesional and kind guide. The restaurant chouse for lunch mediocre.Maybe it will be worth more time for Tasco.

Itinerary
. In Cuernavaca which means “next to the trees", you will enjoy the view of the Cathedral, one of the oldest buildings in the country and fifth building in Mexico dedicated to the Catholic cult, built in 1529 by the Order of the Franciscans (World Heritage). We will also see the exterior of the Palacio de Cortés, built by order of Hernán Cortés in the years immediately following the conquest of Mexico. Finally, we will observe the Monument to Morelos, an insurgent military and Mexican patriot, who organized and was the architect of the second stage of the Mexican War of Independence.
We will continue to visit one of the treasures of the Sierra Madre: Taxco, "Silver Capital of the World", a colonial city with hundreds of years of history and one of the "magic towns" of the country. It is a picturesque little town, with cobbled streets and narrow, full of silver jewelry workshops. Here there will be time to have lunch where you wish and then we will visit one of the largest churches in Mexico: Santa Prisca, built in 1759 in the baroque style of New Spain and with stones from the area. Taxco is known worldwide for its silver mines and is one of the oldest mining centers in the continent, with operating mines and a culture of metal crafts that date back to the era of the viceroyalty. You will have the opportunity to see and buy silverware in this exclusive place.

This was overall a great tour. My entire vacation was based in Mexico City, so it was a really nice change of pace to get out of the city center and see some of the countryside and two really beautiful small towns. Pre-tour communication from Luis to set up the pick-up point and let me know what to expect was top-notch. Our tour guide Julio was excellent too. He was knowledgeable, personable, and competent. He skillfully kept the group together and the tour running on schedule. He imparted all information in Spanish and in English, as there were four English-only speakers in the group, including myself. The restaurant we were taken to for lunch had a limited menu of only a few items, but the hillside views of Taxco were nothing short of enchanting. The one sour note for me involves the silver workshop and store we visited. The presentation was brief but interesting/informative, and the traditional drink they gave us was refreshing and delicious. I love silver jewelry and I've wanted to visit Taxco for literally decades. I saved up to buy something nice. The necklace I bought for $300 was gone less than a day later. The clasp let go somewhere and I don't know who is wearing and enjoying it now, but it's not me. Nor was I able to go out and buy something else to replace it before leaving Mexico. I'm a preschool teacher. I'm not wealthy. Once the money was spent, it was spent. I have other nice souvenirs: a beautiful embroidered table runner, a jaguar whistle with which to annoy my husband and dog, and a few other fun and colorful odds and ends. But the $300 I saved in order to spend on "big-ticket" souvenir, I might has well have lit on fire and burned to cinders. For that price, a clasp should not fail within 24 hours. It's excruciatingly disappointing. So here's my advice: go on the tour. If you have Luis preparing you and Julio guiding you, you're in great hands and will have a lovely time. You'll see beautiful things, and have an opportunity to buy beautiful things. But DO NOT do your silver shopping at the "workshop" they take you to. Or if you feel you must, buy something inexpensive and that does not rely on a clasp in order to stay on your body, such as earrings or a ring. Later on, after lunch, you get free time in the town center, and there are silver shops everywhere. Do your big-ticket silver shopping there instead.
We loved going to Cuernavaca & Taxco for the day! We had a great tour guide, driver and a very comfortable van with A/C!
It was a really fun trip, Dante was a great guide and super fun to talk to. The only reason I'm not leaving a 5 is that I think, if someone shows up sick (coughing fits, sneezing, etc) they should be required to wear a mask if they want to take the trip in such a small van without putting the rest of the group at risk.
Well organised , guide knew his material and there was plenty of time to do my own thing. As I was staying far from the pick up point the company organised a location that was better suited to me
Great trip, fun, secure, informative. If you are into silver, the shop they take you to is amazing. The only thing would be having more lunch options. Would recommend it.
Long story short - book yourselves 2 days to explore these places and use local transportation, the tour is not worth it. This is advertised as a 10h tour, don't be fooled - we spent an hour picking people up all around CDMX (other tours only offer 1-2 pickup spots, clearly this would be way more efficient), I was the first pickup so I had a 12 hour day! We also waited for 45 mins for late people following our free time, we ended up leaving them thank goodness, but they need to make that call way sooner. They showed up 70 minutes late and somehow arranged a ride home anyways, but we all lost that time and had to travel between cities at night as a result, which is not recommended for security reasons. It seemed like I was the only person who wasn't picked up at my hotel as well which was annoying. I was also the last to be dropped off, even after the tour guide, despite that the driver didn't speak English. I was hoping to be dropped at my hotel but that didn't happen despite everyone else seemingly getting dropped off at theirs. Thank goodness a few people stayed behind or I would have jumped out and cabbed home. This tour is advertised as English, so I'm not sure why the majority of people only spoke Spanish. Other companies separate people by English or Spanish, we had a bilingual tour guide but everyone took twice as long because of this. The one nice thing I had to say was the tour guide was knowledgable and was kind to help people with pictures, etc. Don't buy your silver at the first store, you will have free time to walk around. I had to wait forever for people to be done their shopping there, I should have just gone off on my own at that point to actually allow enough time to see the museums or other points of interest. Hecho a Mano is the only store that seems to have anything different and seems actually handmade. Everything else you will see the same thing over and over, it's a bit odd and hard to believe everything is made in city. Either way, silver is cheap just make sure you look for the markets of authenticity. Cuernavaca in the area we went is beautiful, it's a bit rushed though. Taxco is nice, I ditched the meal in favour of walking around (brought my own food) but with the delays in waiting for people who never showed up that might be hard unless you pack snacks. I felt there was not enough time in Taxco to do anything but walk around the area, since museums and points of interest were a bit far for the time we had. It was a bit too much time in that area as a result. Wish they allowed more time in Cuernavaca or I had known the time we were supposed to leave wasn't going to be honoured, I could have done more besides wait in a bus for 40 minutes doing nothing. I suggest the tour guide gather everyone's numbers before we're given free time so this doesn't happen to other people. Despite the company reaching out in advance (so I know they had our numbers!) it took them forever to reach the people, and they still waited 10-15 minutes after the people didn't pick up before we were allowed to leave. I can't believe how incredibly rude those people were, and while it's not the tour company's fault, reading the reviews this wasn't the first time this happened so they need to have clearer rules about leaving people behind.
One of the most great experiences! The tour, the place and the guiding was amazing! It was well organized and our guides were the nicest people in Mexico! They made sure you feel secure taken care of and most importantly that you enjoy your experience! 100% recommended
Wow....our experience in this trip was really excellent. All the places that we visited were beautifull, but the most important and make us very satisfied it was our tour guide , Aarón, he explained everything about the places we visited very clear and give us a complete information and vision about the history of those places. Thank you very much ! He make us feel very confortable !
This tour promised so much but delivered very little. I was the only English speaker in our group of 7, the other 6 being native Spanish speakers. Our guide catered to them approx 90% of his time. We were channeled into a huge silver shop, a restaurant for a a la carte lunch and then a church, with less than 40 minutes allowed for shopping. Even tho I paid extra to be dropped back to my hotel, I was dropped a 15 minute walk away at 8.30pm. I cannot recommend this tour.
The tour guide was very kind and knowledgeable, but the tour consisted a lot of shopping at silver stores and we were brought to a specific restaurant for lunch that was expensive and just ok and we had to pay for it. In hindsight we should have said that we will go to another, better restaurant and meet up with the tour after. We also only got 30 mins of free time around Taxco, so it would have been nice to not be brought to all these silver stores and have free time to just explore the town. So overall it was just an average tour because mostly we did some things we would have rather not wasted time on, and instead we could have had free time to do more things we would have liked around the town.
Taxco is a lovely place. However this tour will NOT allow you to see how magical it is. This is one of those tours where they take you to shops to try to sell you merchandise and the tour guides receive commission. The only emblematic spot your visit in Taxco is zocalo. If you want to truly experience Taxco DO NOT take this tour.
Taxco is a beautiful and magical place, surely will go back. I acquire some silver jewelry, had a delightful lunch with the tour group.
Great tour! Hilarious tour guide Carlos- lots of colorful personal commentary. Feel free to be proactive over what spots you want to see during the tour. Lunch might be on the later side so plan to bring snacks.
Beautiful city and great food. The pick up point was easy to find with the instructions given. I would recommend this tour to someone else.
Took a solo trip as only non spanish speaker (total 7 people, which was great) The guide made sure I wasn't forgotten. Very fun and friendly guide which made sure everybody was happy. We did the trip on a Friday which lead a bit to bad traffic, so assume you will be a full day occupied, But the weather and the views where stunning on the way.
Visiting Taxco was a wonderful trip. The weather for this trip was great and conducive for walking and exploring the locations that we went to. My only criticism of the trip is that the guide provided very good information but he interjected his own personal views into the narrative that sometimes seemed inappropriate.
Funny charismatic tour guide. Kept us moving. Knowledgeable and fun. Accommodating to everyone’s need and wants. Great time would go again
This trip was interesting as you visit Cuernavaca (briefly) and the old mining town of Taxco. The trip involves a very brief stop at the cathedral in Cuernavaca and then continues to Taxco. Taxco is a very interesting town but it's very touristy. I would recommend this trip for those who don't mind sitting and riding in a bus for a while and who enjoy a more relaxed vacation. One of the better parts about the trip was the guide. He was very informative and helpful.
Aristeo was our guide / driver. We were only 7 people. So the ride was comfortable. This tour is an all day affair. But well worth it. In Taxco, he takes you to a few stores that sell silver. Plus a restaurant with a great view !
The trip was amazing for us especially our guide. He was very sweet and personable. He made it that more wonderful. The pick up time was exactly what and where it was scheduled. Although, we were a bit confused thinking that lunch was included with the tour at the restaurant. I guess not. Otherwise, we loved the tour and the guide. Would definitely use you all again!
Despite the maximum number of 9 people stated in the description, our group ended up with 11. I purposefully picked this group due to “small group”, so it was quite disappointing. The whole trip experience felt like a rush. Although I don’t mind shopping, the entire time spent in Taxco was mostly about shopping in different silver stores. The people were nice, but it didn’t feel like it was worth the price.
This was a good tour! We got to see Taxco with a small group of people which was very important to us. Ricardo and Nacho were both great and very helpful…
So I had gotten up at crack of dawn to get my stuff done in time to reach the meeting point by 8 am. Upon arrival I realized there was a glitch, a misunderstanding, or whatever u want to call it… but the result was the same. I did not get on the bus. I was sort of freaking out with only two days left to my holiday, mourning the lost opportunity to visit Cuernavaca and Taxco when the managing director (I believe) of Interliv Travel contacted me to see what he could do. At first it seemed futile as this was the busy week of Semana Santa in Mexico City. But somehow, within 15 minutes or so, he pulled off what might he considered a miracle, finding me a spot on a semi-private tour with 2 others that was leaving in moments. I hightailed it the new meet point and proceeded to have a lovely day inntwo beautiful places. And on top of so professionally finding a way to accommodate me, they didn’t charge me extra for the upgraded experience! I have never worked with a tour company that went so out of its way to help a client. Especially when they really didn’t have to. That alone would be reason to recommend Interliv Tours. Particularly in comparison to another company I used for a different tour a few days earlier. Which was pretty much a nightmare. But the day was well worth all the early morning stress. As such, I highly recommend Interliv Tours for its personal attention, integrity, and generosity. Those are rare qualities in today’s world — particularly in business. And they should he rewarded. Thank you so much to this company for turning over every stone to get me to Cuernavaca and Taxco today. I will use no one else next time I visit CDMX.
Taxco was a magical town so gorgeous. Was totally worth the drive. The locals were so nice and friendly. Make sure to have a Bertha. Will definitely come back.
Awesome! The process was very smooth form beginning to end, they picked us up on time from the hotel and then picked up a few more people and we were quickly on our way. We made a quick stop at the azteca stadium for a quick photo, then headed to Cuernavaca where we stopped at the church for a quick tour. After that we had some quick taco snack and went to Taxco where we stopped at a silver mine/shop where they showed you how to spot real silver from fakes and after that we went to Taxco downtown. I Taxco downtown we were given about 2 hours of free time to explore and the town was awesome! On the way back we had a quick bathroom break and back to Mexico City! Small group as described, the driver/tour guide Fernando was awesome and very friendly, great trip and great company!
I was happy to find this tour was offered! As a solo traveler it can be difficult to find tours with "minimum persons needed". I checked two local hotel concierge desks in CDMX and they were of no help. Thankfully Viator had something. The tour picked up at Cineopolis at 0900 and then I met up with other people and we left to see Cuernavaca. The time in that city was a bit too short- maybe 45 minutes. Id prefer to have taken photos, see more tourist things like the Cuernavaca sign and trying the food versus spending so much time at the churches. The churches are interesting, but very boring. We did a brief stop to have some tacos de canastas, but on the drive away there was so much more to see in Cuernavaca. We went onward to Taxco- pronounced Tas-co. They sell bundles of roses on the way toward the town but we didn't stop- sadly. Taxco was fine, but we spent a bit too much time there and although it was beautiful Cuernavaca seemed to have more going on. Taxco just seemed like a town of people selling trinkets, silver and then there's a big church on the hill. We stopped for a 45 min lunch here (may or may not be included) opt out of lunch if you want time to see the city + about an 1-2 hour of touring. We left Taxco and returned to CdMx around 1930. Overall a very fun day trip. Id recommend it. I hope the tour operators adjust it a bit to allow more shopping, food and less church history.
this was a good tour , our tour guide did a good job explaining all about Cuernavaca & Taxco. sorry I forgot his name. the only reason why I give 4 start is because the food terrible I mean really bad.
Umberto was amazing! Very knowledgeable and funny as well. He made the trip worth it. I also love that they pick up and drop off from your hotels.
Taxco is a really amazing place, and this is a nice way to get there from CDMX, I'd recommend going on this tour purely to get to Taxco and back in a day if you're strapped for time. We visited Cuernavaca fairly briefly on the way for a look at the cathedral, and didn't see anything else of the town. There were some midway stops at service stations on the way there and back which were very welcome, as it's a long drive. The restaurant we went to for lunch in had a great view out over Taxco with fairly average food but not too expensive. Taxco is famous for silver, and you get taken to not just one but two silver shops, where you are given a shot of tequila, and one of the shops you get physically locked in for a good 20 mins(!) - I found this really annoying personally, but in all fairness other people did buy some silver. Our driver drove like a demon around some of the mountain corners which was slightly unnerving at times but luckily there was never anything unexpected on the other side. Most of the people on the tour were Spanish speakers, and so the tour was given in Spanish with the odd bit translated into English - but in all honesty there wasn't a huge amount of factual knowledge imparted at any of the locations, the value of the tour was more getting to the locations than the quality of knowledge. Re: Covid, there were no temperature checks/other measures, neither the driver nor tour guide bothered with face masks beyond some tokenism, and the minibus we were in was completely full, so I'd avoid it if you're anxious.
Amazing tour and the best I've ever seen. Taxco was more beautiful than I could have imagined. Frank was the best guide and Pablo was the best driver you could ever get and made it very special for us. Thanks!
We had an excellent experience this day. It was a fantastic tour - one of the best I ever experienced. The views were so beautiful on the way to the towns. We also have a wonderful time while exploring Cuernavaca and Taxco. Jaime was our guide on this tour. He was super supportive and responsive to any requests we had. Overall, the tour and guide are great!!! We will remember this unforgettable experience!
Pros - You get to see Taxco, which is about 180 km away with USD 51. (was on discount when I bought it) The place they take you to purchase silver is pretty decent imo. I saw a few reviews about that place in google review that their products are overpriced, but it was not entirely true. They sell unique pieces of jewelry, and some pieces were more expensive in the town center. (i.e., silver owl, silver skull, etc.) Cons - Late. The tour was supposed to start at 8:30 per Viator details, but we took off CDMX past 10 AM. They group Spanish speaking tourists and English speaking tourists together, which causes some difficulty as you can imagine. The tour itself felt somewhat disorganized, and the information you get from the guide is minimal, but this was understandable because he had to cover two separate groups. It felt more like GPS service than a guide service. We arrived at Taxco past 1 PM, spent about an hour at the store. The driver drops you off De Los Plateros street, and you take a short walk to the town center. We arrived at Zocalo, Taxco around 3PM. Finally, we got to eat lunch. Visited the cathedral around 4:40 PM after a (unnecessarily) lengthy lunch, and then basically, you are on your own until 6:10PMish. We got to Cuernavaca past 8 PM, so it was pretty much dark. Saw the cathedral about 20 mins and back on the road. I got back to my hotel at 10:40 PM. I didn't have time to eat dinner until then. If you want to visit Taxco and buy some silver, go for it. If you want a more organized tour, go and come back at a reasonable time, look for another company, or do a private tour.
I have traveled to 50+ cities around the globe, and I Taxco to be one of the most amazing places. It is magical! As far as this trip is concerned, I could do without the Cuernavaca detour. Instead I would rather spend more time exploring the glorious alleys and corners and plazas of Taxco. The operation of the tour was a mixed bag. There was no point spending two hours at lunch. Instead they should have taken us to the city center, given us the opportunity to chose our own lunch venue and lunch choices. The guides were good and knowledgeable. The local guide was also good and passionate about Taxco and its glory. The hotel pickup worked very well. The drive was professional. Communication with the tour operator also worked well. I would choose the tour operator and Tripadvisor again in future as needed.
They will have an experience with good historical data content about the two cities. Good opportunity to purchase silver jewelry. Transportation was fine but could be improved. You have to be prepared to walk the streets of Taxco because they are very steep. The place for lunch with good value for money.
He deserves to spend a night there. I went on a single day tour from MX City and visited everything on the run
An excellent getaway to these villages, Fernando a great guide, who always had topic of conversation as well as his information that helped us a lot in the tour with the huge consent of the subjects.
Taxco is very nice and picturesque (it looks like an Italian village), full of little streets and corners. The cathedral is impressive and there are many options to buy silver. Aaron was our driver and guide and was very attentive and gave us interesting facts along the way. The start times were quite punctual and the pick-up went smoothly. The bus ride was comfortable. At least for us the time you really have to be in Taxco is little, it does not give much time to for example climb Christ or use the cable car. We would have preferred to leave CDMX a little earlier and/or reduce the time in Cuernavaca so we could have more time in Taxco. The guide took us to a specific restaurant, very nice and very rich the food, but the price is a little higher than usual at least for what we have experienced in Mexico. The road is quite curved, so if someone gets dizzy, it is better to take a pill beforehand.
Very good experience, we spent a pleasant day getting to know Cuernavaca and Taxco as a family. Excellent attention from the guide.
I liked the friendliness of the guide and the driver. They were punctual and very knowledgeable about the places. It ate the trip
For foreigners who do not know the place, they should give more options, such as allowing to go to other meeting points.
We had an amazing driver and guide. They were telling us the story, giving us good recommendations and pending our well-being. Besides, they were props with their schedules and fulfilled their word which makes the tour more enjoyable! Communication, fluid and always attentive. I would return to occupy your tours:)
El tour es una maravilla, el guía excelente, lo único q no me gustó es q el conductor se la pasó comiendo pepitas y me daba temor se distrajera al buscar la pepita y luego buscar el vasito en q depositaba las cáscaras
Although the tour started a bit messy to assemble the groups and assign us transportation then everything was very enjoyable. Carlos, the guide was very friendly and fun without neglecting the historical data. Adequate time was devoted to touring the iconic sites at no time did I feel we were in a hurry. I highlight this because I have taken other tours where they take you to the runs and then leave you free time to shop, and it is not the idea. I loved Taxco, it's a very picturesque place. I'd come back once more
The guide was very good, explained everything in detail. The tour was completely compliant, picked us up on time and took us to all the compromised places.
Bravo by our guide Emmanuel, who took advantage of the journey (a little long) to let us know in a very didactic way part of the history of the Aztecs, of colonization, evangelization, traditions, etc. Thanks to Emmanuel and his operator!
