Due to Mexico City traffic you are in the van a lot, but our guide Mario was very personable and entertaining.

Itinerary
A brief visit to the National University of Mexico which contains an outdoor gallery of mural art made from the world famous Diego Rivera as well as we will visit the National Library, the Rectory and the Stadium.
Upon reaching the calm waters of the Xochimilco canals and its floating gardens, you will enjoy a picturesque cruise through one of the last traces of the Aztec period in a traditional trajinera or pre-Hispanic boat. Learn the history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, first established as a pre-Columbian city on the shores of Lake Xochimilco just south of Mexico City. On board this typical canoe of the area you will travel through canals surrounded by floating gardens while you delight your palate with exquisite dishes and typical drinks.
Enjoy a brief visit to Coyoacan, known as the cultural heart of Mexico City, a place that is very popular with people who live nearby and who has been a source of inspiration for various national and international artists. We will be visiting the area and admire its sixteenth century mansions and the Church of San Bautista. A fantastic and charming walking Tour where you will enjoy passing one after the other the small streets full with color, history and with a romantic touch. Coyoacán has been an icon for international artist inspiration.
A wonderful visit to Frida Kahlo Museum, known as "The Blue House" where the world-renowned Latin American artist lived.

This was a trip visiting 3 attractions- the van was comfortable with Jorge driving smoothly. My wife uses a walker and he was very attentive and helpful .Nazarus, our guide, was pleasant and gave us some information about the attractions. The Xochimilio boat ride was the first- the canal was quiet which we liked.- the ride was enjoyable. Because of traffic and starting an hour late, we couldn’t spend time at the NAM university - could not go up close to the wall murals which was one of the main reasons for us to book this tour. That was disappointing! The Coyoquan walking tour was brief . Lunch at the Coyoquan market was good. We then finished with the Frida Kahlo blue house visit which was fantastic. Most of the explorations were in English so could understand. Given the heavy traffic, not able to cover all 3 attractions fully. Would do 1 or 2 of the attractions at one time.
This tour was everything we wanted for a day trip visit to Coyoacán, floating gardens, and Friday Kahlo house. Great guide provided historical narrative during drive, allowed for time to visit market, eat locally, & see other sites. We were impressed with driver’s skill & patience through Mexico City traffic that we found a bit overwhelming.
Our tour guide 0, Patricia (Pato) was so impressive -her in-depth historical knowledge of Mexico along with her shared experience of Mexican culture made for a very interesting and informative outing. Thanks to Pato ( her nickname and a great story ) we were given one on one opportunities at each stop. I am 78 and it was a long day for me however well worth the time
We have been traveling around the USA and Mexico and this was by far my favorite tour so far. Our guide, Monserat, was AMAZING! She was warm, welcoming and so knowledgeable and passionate. The tour itself was well organised. We spent just the right amount of time in every location. Even my teenagers enjoyed it!
A lot of time spent in a bus, which we expected as Mexico City is a large city, but way too much time was spent in picking people up (we were picked up at 8:15am, last couple was picked up at 9:15am, so first hour of our trip was not a tour at all, just logistics). First they took us to a random metal and jewelers worker’s shop, which was nice but not on the tour description, out of the way of the main attractions, and clearly an effort to get us to buy merch at the store. There was a 5 min metal etching presentation, which was interesting, but not worth the nearly 60 min we spent getting there, visiting the store, and then continuing with our trip. We then went to the University to look at murals, which was nice, but again, the logistics were poor. They dropped us off by the stadium, we then walked to the other side of the campus park to look at murals, and at last mural there was an empty parking lot, but instead of our bus being there to pick us up, we had to walk back to the original drop off point, so what could have been a 30 min visit stretched out to almost an hour. We finally got to the first “main attraction” - the Xochimilco waterways and gardens. It took almost another hour to get us on the boat and out of the dock area (although not sure our tour operators could have done anything about it, as logjam was due to the many boats trying to fit through a very narrow opening into the canal from the docs - think of it as a 6-lane highway merging into one lane). That said, they brought us drinks and took our lunch orders while we sat on the boat waiting to get to the canal, which was fun and festive, so we didn’t mind the wait as much and had a good time meeting and socializing with the rest of the group. That said, all the delays and logistical challenges meant that we didn’t get to the main reason for the trip - the Frida Kahlo house and museum - until 3:45pm, and thus only had 30-40 min to visit the house (and zero time to visit the neighborhood of Coyoacán - which some group members chose to do instead of the museum). As such, we were rushed and couldn’t help thinking how much time we wasted earlier in the day that would have been better spent visiting the museum for longer AND visiting Coyoacan (instead of limited time doing one or the other). If we had to do it over again, we would have taken a private tour which, while slightly more expensive, would have made the trip significantly more enjoyable.
Not what we were expecting according to the description. Instead of going straight to the three things advertised, they stopped at a couple of unnecessary locations. Although we started at 9am, we didn’t arrive at Xochimilco until around 12pm. Boarded the boat and entered an extremely crowded canal, which was not enjoyable. After finally returning to the dock, we were only allowed 15 minutes for shopping, not enough time. We traveled to Coyoacán and had about 20 minutes to look around before the Frida Kahlo museum. Once we finished our self guided tour, we had only about 20 minutes to do any local shopping. This trip was not worth it. The wasted time stopping at useless locations would have been better spent allowing for more time at the three primary locations. I would not recommend this tour, you’d be better off taking a private tour with exactly what you want to see. Also, the van that we rode in was not very clean and was tight quarters.
We left early and then went to a shop…. There were interesting parts, stops at the university, the stadium, but the main event, the boat trip was very touristy, selling food, selling jewellery, the mariachi bands were not enjoying it any more than us. Interestingly, the Mexicans and some others found it very enjoyable but the Anglos not so much. Definitely couldn’t recommend this trip
Tour guide was very informative and receptive to questions. He even waited in line with me to ensure I got in to the Frida Kahlo Museo. Definitely worth it. Only thing I didn’t like was being constantly badgered to buy something while on the boat in Xochimilco, but that’s just the way it is.
Great tour. Our guide Marco was very helpful and knowledgeable. Lunch was great at Xochimilco. A must do when visiting CDMX.
Avoid this company Interliv if you are seeking a pleasant excursion. After they initiated contact three times prior to our tour to confirm pick up details they DID NOT SHOW UP. When we called our tour operator he said there was traffic then hung up on us multiple times. When we contacted Viator they put us in contact w the tour company owner who said he would try to remedy the situation. We were offered a “similar” excursion from a different company that same day that essentially offered transportation to two of the original tour locations. Other reservations in our limited time in Mexico City were effected.
Floating on the boats at xochimilco and listening to the mariachis. Frida’s house was very interesting
Certainly saw and did a lot more than expected. Saved a lot of time trying to get to all those places on our own. The guide answered all questions and told us many interesting things. The driver was a real expert at navigating in traffic!
Definitely a must-do! Our tour guide was fabulous as was our driver when my husband and I needed help with climbing in and out of the boats!
Overall, this was well done - very pleased with our guide (Ursula) and our driver. We spent a bit too much time at a silver shop. The biggest downside about any tour to this destination is just how much driving is involved. Over half the time was navigating the city traffic so just make sure the sites are worth the time on the roads for you.
I really enjoyed this small group tour! We had a great guide who was very informative, patient as we perused for souvenirs, and funny. I particularly enjoyed the boat ride. The canal was a little crowded, but the captains handled everything well. We also had the chance to enjoy some live mariachi music on the brightly colored boats. I loved the Frida kahlo museum! Such a beautiful, meaningful space. I also enjoyed how the tour allowed us adequate time to do things on our own; it was structured, but not rigid.
The guide was knowledgable and kind. The problem was the tour schedule. The first 2 hours were circling a 3 mile radius to pick up other guests. The University of Mexico was a wasted stop. The time should have been spent on Cuayacon and the museum which were rushed at the end. Literally we spent 5 hours in a van for a couple of hours of activity. The boats were okay and people say it is a must do—-we could take or leave. In hindsight we would have Ubered to Cuayocan and spent the afternoon, had lunch and visited the museums. This was expensive and not enjoyable on the whole.
Additional activity - the murals at the university was very interesting. Xochimilco a complete waste of time. Horribly touristy with nothing worth seeing. Coyoacan - not enough time after the Freda Karlo museum to check out anything at all. But actually we could have stayed another hour, had we been allowed to get back a little later. Slightly complicated because some of the group were not visiting the Frida Karlo museum - so they had time to see the town, but those who did visit the museum did not. Given that those visiting the museum had paid more than double for the trip, there should have been time for them to see the town too.
Very professional guide with quick answers to a multiple of questions! Wonderful time meeting other travelers and sharing experiences and recommendations! Transportation was clean and efficient!
Xochimilcho was great fun. Excellent guide. There was too much wait time between events, possibly holiday related.
Really enjoyed going to Coyoacán and Xochimilco. The tour guide Alan was informative and had some good tour guide facts.
Wonderful experience having lunch during a boat ride at Xochimilco among numerous other boats. The university buildings with their impressive mosaics were really impressive. And of course the Frida Kahlo house is not to be missed. Out tour guide Daniel was super helpful and friendly. Looking forward to my next trip in Mexico City with more tours from Interliv.
The travel agency payed all the entire tour. One day later we have contacted by the guide for the impossibility to visit Frida Khalo museum. Many people choose this tour for Frida Museum! And it'snot enough. The day of the tour we're picked on by another guide and another group( confusion among them) It' s no correct sell An entire tour and offer only a part of its. Horrible organization!
I would not recommend this tour. First of all trip advisor booked this tour for seven of us knowing that the Frida Kahlo Museum and House was sold out. So now I’m waiting for a refund of part of this tour. Our tour guide was nice but his English was not the best and it was hard to understand him at times. All we did was walk through a market real fast and walked in Coyoacan real fast. Most of our time was spent driving in a bus. The highlight was Xochimilco however we could have done this by ourselves without spending money for a tour. I would highly recommend doing any tours in Mexico as a private tour. We took a private tour the day before this one and it was excellent. Spend a little more and go private. It will be just your group with a tour guide and driver. Also this tour was done in both English and Spanish. Our private tour was done only in English
We enjoyed our tour and found the tour guide to be very informative and funny. They took us to places we were not even aware we were going to like one of the universities where there is a Diego Rivera mosaic mural. We enjoyed the Xochimilco boat rides and the tour through Coyoacan. The highlight was of course the Frida Museum which is a must if you visit the city. We were very glad we booked this tour.
Our tour guide was hilarious! A great your to fit a lot into the day. However, I wish there had been a bit clearer communication as it relates to bringing sufficient cash for parts of the tour. I would recommend this tour to others!
We had an amazing time on this tour! Our guide, Juan, was so knowledgeable and sweet. Very proud of his country and informative! His spirit was infectious and he did an amazing job translating 💕
It was a great tour! Our tour guide was very friendly. Time was enough in each stop. Tickets for Frida museum are included and those were so difficult to find.
Great tour! Perfect for seeing a lot in one day. Guide was very accommodating and super knowledgeable. The stops are great - you do a variety of things and for the right amount of time. Very skilled driver. Maybe don’t plan for a Friday tour because Friday traffic coming back is terrrrible. The various guests pick ups in morning can take a while, but just be patient and drink a Coffee and have a snack while you look out the window at the passing neighborhoods. All in all - highly recommend for price. You really get to see so much of this beautiful and massive city without needing to do a thing but follow along.
We had a great time and had a great and entertaining tour guide! Coyoacan is a beautiful area with rich history and the boats were a fun way to see more of the CDMX area nd enjoy food and shopping. The museum needs no introduction!
Amazing! Our tour guide made the entire experience so much fun. 10/10 recommend doing smaller group activities, we had lots of time to see everything we wanted to see. Will forsure be booking again!
Communication was excellent prior to the trip; the map and WhatsApp directions were easy to follow. Our tour guide on the trip was lovely too, and very knowledgeable. There was quite a bit of time spent in the morning stopping at the silver factory and sights like the Plaza of Three Cultures, the stadium, and university which we weren’t expecting but perhaps it is in the small print that I didn’t read. The University was interesting, but on balance, I would have preferred to have more time looking around Coyoacan. Several in our groups decided to stay there and not journey back so they had time to soak up the atmosphere there. We throughly enjoyed Xochimilco. The boat ride was fun; lunch was good and plentiful too. Frida Kahlo’s museum is colourful and interesting: totally worthwhile. Overall, good communication, service and a very enjoyable day. Thank you.
This was an excellent tour. We went to a silver maker (probably could have skipped this part, honestly), but my husband and I were able to buy some awesome street food. We then went to UNAM to see some important murals. From there, we had lunch on the canals of Xochimilco followed by reserved time at the Frida Kahlo Museum. This trip is very worth it and shows multiple angles of Mexico City. It lasts just the right amount of time, and our tour guide (August 7, 2022) was exceptional. Highly recommend!
Very disorganized tour. NO COMMUNICATION. They took us to spots that were not mentioned on what was purchased. Wasted so much time. So frustrated that the day was ruined. Rushed through all of the expected places to visit. Will not recommend to anyone. To top it off the driver yelled at me for asking why we were rushed through everything. All of the vendors knew them and you can tell they were working with them. It was all a set up. Do not hire this tour.
I planned my 40th bday in Mexico City and was fortunate to have a group of friends who were able to join me for the weekend. I knew that I wanted to go to the Xochimilico boats, but I was worried about coordinating travel / ubers for so many people. I emailed the team at InterLiv and Kim A worked with me over a month to plan out every detail of the trip! Because we were a big enough group, we had a private van pick us up in the Condesa neighborhood. Kim had worked with our tour manager to have a cooler with ice available for us, as well as a few beers ready for the ride. We then stopped at a convenience store along the way to grab more drinks and snacks. We easily could've gotten drinks/snacks at the entrance to Xochimilico but I was worried about wrangling everyone back to the boats in time. On the drive, our host Lalo told us about the history of Mexico City and why Xochimilico is so special. While on the boats, he helped us order food/drinks and taught us about Pulque. We spent a full 3 hours on the boats and it was the perfect amount of time to enjoy the outdoors and the great food! I'm so thankful to the InterLiv team and would definitely recommend them for any upcoming CDMX trips!! My only tip if you're traveling with a big group would be to make sure you have plenty of $5 coins for all the bathroom breaks!!
It was a pretty amazing tour and extremely easy for a gringo who knows very little Spanish. The set up was easy and the meet up was simple, only a 3 minute walk from my hotel. The staff were very professional and very informative. The places we went were historical and I learned a lot
Everything went according to plan, we were picked up in time and Ángel, our guide was very attentive, helpful and flexible. At the Frida Kahlo Museum the 30 pesos (1.50 USD) photography permit is well worth it and when visiting Xochimilco, packing a small picnic makes it even more enjoyable
We had a great time , with Eduardo whom took us to beautiful parks along on our trip and was very helpful. He was respectful and patient. Thanks
Xochimilco is a must visit place, if you're in Mexico City. Extremely vibrant and colourful, it can get crowded though, and hence hitting the right time to go there is essential. Being on a private tour, we were able to do this, and also get a private boat, so this worked out and we enjoyed the experience. Booking with the agency via WhatsApp was easy and comfortable l, we had an enthusiastic driver. The guide as such was quite reserved, but that could be due to English not being his primary language, so understandable. In summary, an excellent experience at Xochimilco.
I have been well traveled and have provided many good reviews on places I have visited on TripAdvisor. But this tour was one of the worst I have been to. The guide picked us up 1 hour late. After we were picked up, we circled for almost 45 minutes trying to pick up the other 2 missing passengers. The company was not able to purchase tickets to the Frida Khalo Museum ($29 for admission) and offer us to visit the Diego Rivera Museum ($5 admission) instead. Very limited info was provided about it. We agreed to proceed with the substitution being under the impression we would visit the artist house and studio. We were wrong! Also, we booked a English tour but most info was given in Spanish. We didn't spend enough time in Coyoacan but walked about less than 10 minutes, didn't get into the church. Over all, we didn't get what we paid for!
Our excursion was fabulous. Miciel was our guide and was very accommodating. He included a few additional highlights on our tour which was a great addition. The entire day was great especially the visit to the Frida Kahlo Blue House. Interliv did a great job planning out this day tour. We highly recommend this tour.
I've been traveling for over 20 years. This was one of the worst tours I've been to. The guide picked us up 1 hour late. After we were picked up, we circled for almost 45 minutes trying to pick up 2 missing passengers. The company was not able to purchase tickets to the Frida Khalo Museum and offered us to visit the Diego Rivera Museum instead. Very little information was provided about it. We agreed to proceed with the substitution being under the impression that we will be visiting the artist's house and studio. We were taken to a very different location. According to the itinerary, we were supposed to tour the center of Coyoacan. We ended up spending about 5 minutes there. It was extremely disappointing. We booked the tour in English. However, most of the information was provided in Spanish. Overall, our guide Claudia was professional and courteous. The boat ride in Xochimilco was fun.
The tour guide was so knowledgeable and professional with a great handle of the English language. Loved the Frida Khalo museum the most just because it has been on my bucket list to visit Casa Azul for a long time and this tour guide made it happen!!
Experience didn’t happen. The day before the all day tour, we were awaiting instructions of where to meet the group the next day. I contacted Viator and at 8pm the night before was ultimately contacted by the tour leader who said the tour was going to be cancelled because he couldn’t arrange tickets. He offered a second tour, a different tour than we originally wanted and that we agreed to take. At 9;45 that evening he advised he was canceling that tour for the same reason. We had a confirmed tour three days before. Still haven’t received a refund. Very disappointing
I recommend this service! We chose to visit Coyoacan,Xochimilco and Frida's Kahlo museum with the guide. We are so satisfied from the tour! The guide was lovely she explained everything about those places, she was so lovely! The experience with the boat at Xochimilco was excellent,we had such a nice time, the food was delicious, everything was perfect!!
We had a great time at the Frida Khalo House and Museum except for the constant reminder that we had to wear our masks while taking a picture when other people were not following the rules, but we didn’t make that ruin our day. The Xochimilco was a beautiful experience.
Overall it had its highlights! What started off on the wrong foot was the 1-2 hour stop at a silver jeweler. They had nice stuff but that was not part of the tour so we felt hijacked. In addition they did not have the tickets for the Blue House confirmed. So we spent time driving in circles to kill time until they confirmed. This was very unprofessional. We finally got a 12 noon entrance and had to rush over. It seemed very disorganized. The tour went longer than expected. We had to walk to a spot to meet the driver yet the other 3 were picked up at their hotel. When asked I was told that just the way it is. I would never use this company again. I will be sure others know the terrible service with Viator local operator.
The most memorable part of the trip was Xochimilco and being able to experience the true folklore of Mexico, with the good and the music.
The local tour operator is INTERLIV TRAVEL in CDMX. The tour guide was named Montserrate and she's excellent, friendly and cheery. The small group I was in on Valentine's Day included seven ladies on a bachelorette party from NY area. So the whole atmosphere was extra energetic, especially when all the ladies received white roses the park in Coyoacan from a music video shoot, and then red roses upon embarking the boat in Xochimilco. This unexpected experience was what traveling is all about. I paid for a mariachi performance during the river cruise too just to share the joy with the group.
What an AMAZING tour with the fun, friendly and knowledgeable guide, Ana and the professional driver, Carretero. I enjoyed everything about this last minute tour. We were a group of 17 and I couldn’t have asked for a better group to have experienced this tour with. Ana was great! She made sure to engage with each and every single one of us even though there were several of us and she did it all with ease. Ana, your English was great and keep being your awesome self! It makes the tour even better when the guide is also enjoying themselves. Thank you again for everything!!
