> WoW — this tour exceeded expectations! Our guide Verónica was the perfect host: knowledgeable, friendly, and considerate, she focused on things that were of interest to us and made every stop come alive. Our driver Daniel had a spotless car with water waiting, and his driving was extremely skilled — with a big demonstration clogging the streets, he took the back roads and got us back to our hotel safely without missing a beat. Five stars — I'd book with this team again in a heartbeat.

The Plaza de la Constitución, informally known as El Zócalo, is the main square of Mexico City. Together with the surrounding streets, it occupies an almost rectangular surface of approximately 46 800 m² (195 m x 240 m). It was named in honor of the Constitution of Cadiz promulgated in 1812. This is the second largest square in the world and the first among the Spanish-speaking countries. 1 The Zócalo is located in the heart of the area known as the Historic Center of Mexico City, in the Cuauhtémoc delegation. Its location was chosen by the Spanish conquistadors to be established in an area close to what was previously the political and religious center of Mexico-Tenochtitlan, capital of the Mexicas.
The National Museum of Anthropology (MNA) is one of the most important museum sites in Mexico and the Americas, designed to house and exhibit the archaeological legacy of the peoples of Mesoamerica, as well as to account for the country's current ethnic diversity. The current building of the MNA was built between 1963 and 1964 in the Bosque de Chapultepec by instruction of President Adolfo López Mateos, who inaugurated it on September 17, 1964.
The Metropolitan Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary to the skies of Mexico City is the seat of the First Archdiocese of Mexico and is located on the north side of the Plaza de la Constitución in the Historic Center of Mexico City, in the Cuauhtémoc Delegation. When forming part of the mentioned architectonic set in that area of the city, it is consequently Patrimony of the humanity from 1987
Its construction began in 1522, as the second private residence of Hernán Cortés, on top of a part of the huey tlatoani Moctezuma Xocoyotzin palace. Then it was acquired by the crown and intended as the seat of the Viceroys of New Spain, and most of the colonial institutions. During that period it suffered a great fire and was semidemolido in 1692, later it was reconstructed by the viceroyal authorities. Once the Independence of Mexico was consummated, it was the seat of the executive, legislative and judicial powers of the different republican and monarchical regimes of the country during most of the 19th century; it was even the personal residence of all the rulers between 1822 and 1884; from then on, it remained as presidential office until 1968, partially recovering this function in 2012, and completely in 2018.

George was wonderful and we had a great day! We learned a lot and had a lot of fun! Luis the driver was exceptional and we felt at ease while he was navigating the busy streets!
This tour is a must do! You see all of the highlights of downtown México City and the Anthropologie Museum. The tour lasts four hours, but I could have stayed another 2 hours in the museum if we had time. Our guide Jorge was a master historian. I thought he must be a professor. We learned so much from him and highly recommend him and his driver Arturo.
Just completed a wonderful 4 hour tour of central mexico city and the castle with Jorge. Picked up and dropped at hotel - well worth it!!
It was very informative, we enjoyed seeing the sites and learning about the history. Our tour guide Martha was excellent.
This was an amazing tour and we got a great deal of education and detail on Mexican history and culture. We walked through much of the centro historico then drove to the wonderful and vast archaeology museum. Veronica was a great guide!
Jorge (Guide) and Antonio (Driver) did a decent job with the premise of the tour. The way it is designed though just doesn’t make a ton of sense. You are essentially spending 1/3 of the trip to drive to and from the Centro Historico (or in reverse to the Anthropology museum) then do an almost literal sprint through both places to even see the highlights. There’s no time to go into anything really in the Centro (you do 5 minutes in the cathedral). I would suggest booking a separate tour for anthropology and one for the Centro jf you want to see both.
Jorge was the best guide. Very knowledgeable in all history things. Highly recommend this tour. It was very informational
Guide Marta and driver Luis were both excellent. Marta has a deep knowledge of the city and the places we visited. For example, the Anthropology Museum would have been very hard to navigate (it’s a lot!) and understand without Marta. Marta was also just an excellent conversation partner in general. Luis was a hero in traffic. I loved this tour and felt bad for my family who were all not feeling well that day so they missed this experience but I was very happy to go.
Jorge, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable which was essential when visiting the Anthropology Museum. I simply cannot imagine going through without his expert commentary. Our driver Antonio, was on time and was able to maneuver the massive traffic in Mexico City. I highly recommend this tour!
Learned about Mexica people. Amazing and fascinating information. Guide and driver perfect. Highly recommended.
A comprehensive tour that is close to six hours long. We enjoyed it a lot and learned a lot. Wish we had a stop for food at some point.
Our tour guide, Jorge did an excellent job of explaining all the different artifacts we show as well as the history of Mexico. Looking forward to coming back and having him do another tour for us.
The cathedral. Veronica knew so much about the building and the surrounding area. She made the tour so enjoyable.
Great tour in Mexico City. Veronica and Lalo were a great combination taking us through the city and sites.
Guide's knowledge of history made the entire day so informative and interesting. We loved everything we saw and my goodness we saw a lot!
This is our second day in mexico city and with Sergio as our tour guide. Again , Sergio is great. He speaks english well, knowledgeable , funny and accommodating especially to my elderly parents . I highly recommend Sergio!
Arturo was a wonderful guide: friendly, extremely knowledgeable and pleasant company all day. He possesses a wealth of information about Mexican history, archeology, architecture and culture. Highly recommend! Christian was a wonderful driver and got us where we needed to be despite traffic and road closures.
The tour gave us a great perspective of Mexican and Mayan history. Carlos was an exceptionally knowledgeable host. There is a lot of walking outside in the sun so ensure you are well protected.
We had a great walking tour and hit several of the key landmarks, followed by a tour of the museum of anthropology. Our guide, Jorge, was very knowledgeable and his passion for history definitely showed. He took us to see some neat places including the Museo de Sitio and the oldest candy store in Mexico City that definitely made the trip. His knowledge of the exhibits at the Museum of Anthropology was extremely helpful. Our driver, Lalo, did a great job with pickups and drop off and the van was clean and well stock with water.
The booking and communication was probably the worst I've ever witnessed during my international travels. I tentatively booked this experience two weeks prior and asked the contact if i could make one change with the itinerary. They said it could be possible but never confirmed details around the updated plan. After pinging multiple times, there was no clear answer. It got to the point where it was 24 hours prior to the travel and my credit card was paid. Yet, still no confirmation. I had to escalate and I finally got ahold of someone via text. It was then, they told me what I wanted was not possible. WOW. I already told them at the beginning, if it was not possible, I would not go through with this experience. Then, unlike my other 4 personal driver tours in the past, the driver never contacted me and I was left that morning wondering how I was going to know when the driver would arrive. Finally, someone came up to me at the lobby and introduced themselves. The guide was very nice and very knowledgeable. However, he was almost too academic and even though I told him I didn't need that much information, he didn't adjust our schedule. It was like he was stuck with his routine. It was very odd. To top it off, when it was time for lunch, he asked if he could join me. I didn't mind. However, he proceeded to order 2 drinks, a dish, and take multiple pieces of pastries. Did he assume I was going to pay for the whole meal? To be fair, I wasn't sure if the pastries were complimentary or for a fee. After I was finished with my meal, he asked if he could finish my plate and proceeded to take my plate and utensils. He used my utensils and proceed to finish my plate to the last morsel. Once again, the whole thing was very odd.
We were left with a full, detailed and complete understanding of Mexican history and culture. Our day started with a minor shift to our pickup location and the agency was very accommodating to the last minute request. Ramon is an absolute gem of a tour guide! If we had a question, he had an answer. He has incredible story telling skills and my kids were able to absorb and retain so much from this tour. My wife and I were left in awe just by the absolute sheer knowledge he had of everything. Aside from his knowledge, he's a great person. He even took the time to enjoy ice cream with the kids and take our photos at prime locations. We highly recommend this tour and highly suggest Ramon if he's available .You will not be disappointed. Gracias Ramon!
The tour was really good with important information about history, culture, religion and traditions! The guide (#mexicotourfreelance) was quite knowledgeable and gave us a lot of interesting insight into the rich mexican cultural heritage.
We really enjoyed the Anthropology Museum and the Chapultepec Castle. And of course the Cathedral was stunning. Our tour guide Arthur was very knowledgeable and took time to show us highlights that brought out the interesting character of these sites. We had a variety of ages from grandparents to teens, and he kept it interesting and at a good pace for us all.
George was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond showing us various sites and shared interesting historical information for our many questions. Arturo too patiently drive us over.
Bruno was a wonderful guide. Extremely knowledgeable about local history and culture. We would not hesitate to ask for his services again.
Veronica was deeply knowledgeable, well spoken and friendly. She went above and beyond to show us the city, teaching us the history of the region and pointing out highlights we might have missed. We would gladly hire her again.
Sergio Tuero was our guide, he was outstanding. When he realized that I was familiar with this subject, I think that he enhanced our tour. He exchanged photos and links with me.
The guide and driver were on time and very friendly. Unfortunately, our guide did not speak English well which was disappointing.
What a fabulous tour! Our guide, Bruno, was friendly and professional. We were amazed at his knowledge of history and the sites we visited! We highly recommend Bruno to anyone visiting Mexico City!
Sergio, our guide was a treasure. He was funny, entertaining, energetic and most importantly, so knowledgeable. While the places we visited were amazing, we would not have appreciated the significance of the sites without our own anthropologist. I highly recommend this guide. Even our driver was great!
We had the most amazing guide and driver. I was so impressed with her breath of knowledge. She carried a whiteboard and wrote down a lot of things which was incredibly helpful. I would 100% recommend this tour.
If you can afford this is the best way to learn about a city and history. Group tours are usually ok but we like lots of personal interaction with a local guide. Plus flexibility to change schedules etc. Ramon and Carlos were both superb and gracious!
Veronica went above and beyond to meet our tour needs. Highly recommended! She showed up on time at our hotel on Saturday morning and took us to Zocalo. She explained the Mexican history, and serpents and human sacrifices at the Templo Mayor. She was knowledgeable about the artifacts at the Museo Nacional de Antropología. She also shared the performance schedule of the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. This information was important, as it enabled us to get tickets near the venue to see the performance at the last minute. She also took great photos. Thank you, Veronica, for contributing to the success of our trip!
Ramon was fabulous!! So knowledgeable and patient. A complete pro! I highly recommend he and Atouro who was equally professional as our polite and thoughtful driver. They were the perfect team!
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Not only giving us historical and culture background to the city but also lead us to a journey of street food per our request. Definitely will recommend toothers.
Carlos was a terrific tour guide. He was knowledgeable, personable and a great ambassador for Mexico City. He was thorough in showing us the major parts of the Anthropology Museum, which was a highlight of the day. I was with my brother (which is not offered as a selection under "who was with you" - if you're with family, it assumes you're with children - weird).
The tour guide was very nice and had insightful discussions on Mexico City history and decent tour of the museum. Our guide wasn’t licensed to be a guide (expired) and we had to lie to the museum to avoid getting kicked out and was very uncomfortable. I would save the money and avoid this tour.
Trip to Mexico city Our guide, Julio was very nice and knew a lot about the city. The day started at 9 am with The Museum of Anthropologie. Upon our request, Julio took us to the castle of Chapultepec. We had lunch at a local restaurant and enjoyed some local food. We then went to the Zocalo and visited the National museum of arts, post office and the main cathedral. The last stop was the archeological ruins. The day ended around 4 pm. We walked close to 10 miles! Julio was excellent and made this very fun and informative for our entire family with kids and grandparents.
Veronique is an amazing tour guide- warm, funny and informative! We enjoyed every stop and she tailored everything to our interests
Our tour guide, Veronica was amazing. Would definitely recommend to anyone. It was so informative and gave us an amazing understanding of Mexico City through the ages.
This tour exceeded all my/our expectations. My colleague and I had just one day before our conference began and we wanted to see the city. Veronica was our tour guide and Lalo was our driver. Our first stop was the Museum of Anthropology. We expected the ususal, " ypu can explore and we'll meet you back at the entance in an hour." Instead, Veronica took us through each section sharing her vast knowledge of her city's history. The same happened in the Center City Historical District-- 2 hours of soaking up the vurrent and past culture. We also wanted to experience a local market. Again, Veronica introduced us to the fruits and vegetables and meats we were unfamiliar with and gave us preparation tips. This tour was the highlight of our trip.
Incredibly detailed history lesson in beautiful Mexico City. This is exactly what we hoping for and our private guide Edith was friendly, knowledgeable and fun to spend the day with. Our driver Juan got us around town fast and safe. I would recommend this particular tour to anyone that wants to know about important cultural sites in the city. It really was a perfect day.
Our guide Veronica gave us a crash course in Mexico City history and Anthropology. She laid out the facts about the historic downtown buildings dating back to the 16th century and important sights like the Palace of Bellas Artes. In the Anthropology Museum she was our Professor of Mexican history & culture. My wife and I were impressed by her knowledge and her friendliness. We have fond memories of the tour.
It was great and very informative! We were able to ask as many questions and easily travel through the sites.
This was a tour that my husband and I enjoyed very much. Our guide was Sergio Toledo, who was very knowledgeable, we learned a lot about the mexica culture and the spanish conquistadors. One of the tour highlights was the visit to the Anthropology Museum, huge one, so we only visit the room about aztec culture and learned a lot. Highly recommend this tour and our tour guide!
The museum of anthropology was magnificent. Mariana our guide was very knowledgeable and professional. We loved her and her driver Juan!
This was our best experience in Mexico City. Book this tour - you won't be disappointed! The tour guides were very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting. I only wish that I had known there would be 3 of them with our group of 3 so that I could have gotten more cash for tips. I thought it would be one person showing us around. Me and my 17 and 21 year old kids loved this tour.
I can't say enough about Carlo's and Christian's professionalism, friendliness and knowledge. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. I highly recommend the tour for anyone looking for a private guide through the history of the city. We were here on a school research trip and Carlo was invaluable in helping us with insights on that as well. What a fantastic time. 100% recommend it!
We spent three days with Jose and this was a perfect first day. The Museum of Anthropology is massive and you could easily spend a day there. If you want to learn about the Mesoamerican people’s from the Big Bang to yesterday, and view some of their most iconic artifacts, this is the place. It ranks among the beat museums in the world for goos reason. Don’t miss this museum even if you are coming to Mexico City to drink MeZcal and party. Jose walked us through the first half (through the Mayans) and gave us an excellent briefing on the various cultures in ancient Mexico. The Aztec and Mayan rooms are stunning. We walked through Chapultepec park but sadly the castle was closed due to Covid. We grabbed a delicious lunch at a taco place Jose recommended and then walked through the historic district. The church was open and we could see some of Temple Mayor but that Museum was closed. Fascinating day with an amazing guide.
