Laila from Pies Descalzos was AMAZING! My husband and I booked a 4 hour private tour for Our Lady of Guadeloupe and it was worth every penny. Laila was extremely knowledgeable and went at a slow enough pace so we could acclimate to the elevation. Laila patiently explained everything to us, brought us to a gift shop with reasonable rates and accommodated all of our needs. She even picked us up from her hotel. I would highly recommend booking this tour without feeling rushed and she explained everything. Definitely a lot bigger than I thought.

Exceptional tour with David as our guide. He knew so much about the history, the architecture, and the Mexican cultural nuances that really brought it all to life. As a Catholic family, it really was a phenomenal visit, so many areas to explore. If you are planning a trip to the Basilica, I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. I had the BEST time touring the Our Lady of Guadalupe Basilica with Laila!! She was early/on time for my early morning pickup (7am) - I appreciated the fact that at no moment did I have to wonder about logistics! I appreciated the clear, thoughtful communication from the staff while confirming the reservation, too. At the Basilica, Laila shared a TON of interesting stories and information about the different churches onsite, the pilgrims who visit, and the history of everything we saw. We moved at a comfortable pace and saw more than I would have imagined possible for one visit. Aside from the Basilica tour, Laila shared a bunch of thoughtful recommendations with me based on my interests she noticed during the tour. I recommend Pies Descalzos and Laila MOST highly!! If you’re interested in making the most of a visit to the Basilica, you must book with them. I also recommend the 7am start time to beat the crowds and heat. A wonderful morning!

Our guide for this was fantastic. We left early in the morning to avoid the crowds and he was very specific and answered all of our questions. We had the most rewarding experience at Our Lady of Guadalupe under the guidance of Laila. She was professional through and through, but also so friendly and generous with her time. Laila ensured we fully appreciated each and every site we visited. She brought us to purchase religious mementos and patiently waited while we had them blessed. We booked an extra hour for the early morning choral mass - so beautiful - and Laila adjusted our pickup time to accommodate. Her knowledge was most insightful and made this private tour so rewarding. Laila could see how much this pilgrimage meant to us, and that really touched her - which in turn, touched us. Yes, one can come and see everything we did on your own, having only a brief knowledge of this beautiful Marian shrine, however, Laila's insight brought the history to life, and left us with a more lasting impression. Through this tour we were able to learn about the holy site and connect different aspects of the Mexican culture such as precolonial history of the Aztecs/Mexicas and the role of the Virgen de Guadalupe uniting a divided country.

It’s alot of walking but not too much. Depending if there is a pilgrimage, the place can get crowded. Francisco was awesome. Very informative and can answer any questions regarding the churches. I only wish we could enter some of the churches - some had mass being held.

Our guide, Jorge, was/is a professional — on time, very accommodating, and he explained everything thoroughly. At first, I thought that this could be done DIY. You can, but you will miss out on important anecdotes — and places to go. For starters, as a first timer, I did not know that the complex has 7 churches in it! Value for money. Highly recommended.

We had the most incredible experience visiting the Virgin of Guadalupe Basilica with David as our guide. His knowledge and passion for the complex were remarkable. From the historical details of the old basilica to the charming little church Juan Diego, built in honor of the Lady of Guadalupe, David's explanations brought the site to life. My favorite was the chapel of the well. The architecture is so beautiful. The chapel on the hill built by a baker was stunning! The beautiful sculptures by the waterfalls stunning. Just seeing the beautiful lady brought goosebumps. He was wonderful with my 83 year old mom. I think she adopted him as a grandchild. He moved her deeply with his kindness and grace. I highly recommended guide for anyone looking to explore this sacred place."

We had a fantastic private tour at Our Lady of Guadalupe Basilica with our wonderful guide Leila. We were picked up promptly at our hotel and had a wonderful time visiting all the churches and sites at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Basilica site. She provided so much information and details about all the churches at the Basilica site that we would have missed if touring on our own. David Soliz, our guide was pleasant through out the whole tour. He explained, in explicit detail the purpose of each chapel and cathedral. Once we entered the chapel, he took us to the several points of interest within the chapel. He described the pictures of the Virgen or Saints along with the dates in history. As we walked, David continued to share and explain the meaning of each painting. We asked him if we could attend Mass, and he was glad to attend with us. After we bought some religious articles, we had them blessed by the priest.

We could not have asked for a better tour. David was extremely knowledgeable, personable and accommodating of all our requests. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the site

Laila was truly an amazing guide!! She made our visit to the basilica unforgettable!!! My husband and I had been here before but it was the first time for our niece so we decided to get a guide. This was the only tour that had an individual Basilica tour and not coupled with our spots which gave us a deep dive into this sacred site. It gave us enough time to do EVERYTHING! I really enjoyed my private tour of the Basilica, it was a great experience and very informative. I felt like I got to explore and learn about all the different monuments and areas in the Basilica. The Plaza Mariana, the old Basilica, the new Basilica, the indigenous parish, and the Tepeyac hill were some of the sites we explored. Laila was a great tour guide and I learned a lot about the history from her. Even as someone who’s not religious at all, this was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend. Exploring this religious site with an informative guide really enhances the experience and I would definitely have lost out if I just went by myself.

Our tour guide, Laila, was amazing! She understood we were coming as pilgrims to thank Our Lady and ask for continued prayers. She was flexible with the itinerary based on our desires and needs (one of our party needed to use a wheelchair while we were there). We were picked up from our hotel and driven to the site of the shrine. We started the tour by attending Mass in English in the side chapel of St. Joseph, then saw the image, and slowly went to each of the other churches built over the years. Laila told us the background of each church and its relationship to the five apparitions. She even brought candles for us to light at the top of the hill shrine, advised us on the best shop to buy mementos, took us to get them blessed, and indulged our desire to ride the moving sidewalks several times to see the image again before we left. On the way back, she answered our questions about living in Mexico City and gave us suggestions of other sites to see. A wonderful, wonderful experience! Highly recommend!

What an incredibly special experience and an amazing way to start our trip! Laila, our tour guide, met us at our hotel with the best energy and took us on a tour of the various sites at the Basilica. She was so well informed and made sure to share so many details of the history of this amazing place. The energy of the Basilica is truly unique, and she respected that and was excited about it, which made the whole experience even better. She shared the story of the Basilica in bits and pieces and then reiterated the details in a way that we're all going to remember in the future. She gave us candles to light in the new Basilica at the end of the tour and kindly stopped for photos and helped take them for us. We wanted so many! After our tour, she gave us a lot of restaurant suggestions for the various neighborhoods we'd be visiting and helped answer a lot of questions about the city in general. Laila explained passionately about this tour for those 7 churches and the histories. I was picked up the airport in the morning. She took the time to text and call me to inform for the protest at the airport that would close the street to the airport. During the tour I need a cellphone cable to charge my iPhone and she helped to call the driver to bring the power bank and its cable. I recommended this tour.

Easter Monday 2025. As we arrived at the Basilica of the Virgin we encountered a massive procession due to the announcement that morning of the death of Pope Francis. Not only was the site filled with local people presenting offerings to the Lady of Guadalupe, but a ceremony was taking place to pray for Papa Francisco. Our guide, Laila, wove spiritual Indigenous beliefs and artistic history into the 3 hours. Her recapturing of Juan Diego’s mystical encounters with the Virgin touched a deep place in our small group. Laila’s attention to everyone was professional and full of kindness. It was a sacred day.

Laila is amazing. She was on time and communicative. My partner is blind and she asked about any accommodations and preferences he may need and have. She always made sure to allow us time at each area for photos and for my partner to feel any statues that were around. She had a lot of knowledge about the Basilica. Also, she offered an impromptu gastronomy tour of the Mercado Jamaica which we took her up on. That was great! We stuffed our faces with yummy food in an otherwise very large Mercado we would have probably been lost in if we went alone. I appreciated her kindness and patience during the whole tour.

My family is in México City for vacation. We decided to book a last minute private tour of Our Lady of Guadalupe Basílica. They were so accomodating ; I booked the tour around midnight and by 6:30 am it was confirmed and we were assigned Laila as our tour guide. We began our tour at 10 am that same day. Our group included myself, husband, father in law, two teenage daughters and 7 year old son who is fascinanted with the Virgen de Guadalupe. Laila was beyond phenomenal in accomodating the tour to fit our pace and our needs. She was so incredibly patient with my son and explained the Story of the Virgen so beautifully to all of us in both English and Spanish. She took us to every corner of the Basílica área. She even gave us time to purchase ítems from the gift shops and have light lunch there on the grounds. The experience was so meaningful and Laila’s knowledge of the history made it all that more special! Our group of 6 spanned every age group (senior citizen, middle age, teenagers and young child) and Laila kept us all engaged. She was phenomenal! If you are considering this tour, don’t think twice, just book it. You will enjoy it, totally worth it!
