What a great trip to one of the world’s best museums. Our guide Mauricio was extremely knowledgeable. He provided us not only with information about the artifacts, but also the context with which to understand them better. We learned about the cosmology, natural science and exterior influences with which the first peoples of Mexico lived. It was one of the best guided trips I’ve ever had.

The guided tour of the archeology museum should not be missed for anyone who wants to understand the natural history and cultural evolution of the Mexican people. We were so lucky to have a history professor, Jesus, lead us and explain the importance of these exhibits. He was able to answer all of our questions . He remembered all of our names, took many pictures for us and even shared what Dia del Muerto means to him and his family. Honestly, we would have been lost wandering through the museum on our own trying to figure out how all the exhibits Imcome together to teach us about Mexico. I would highly recommend this tour, especially with Jesus as your guide!
Wonderful day at the Anthropology Museum! Highly recommend a guide. The exhibits are in Spanish only so not being a native Spanish speaker I was thankful we booked an amazing guide to help us travel through Mexican history and get the most out of the national museum which is one not to miss. Joss was knowledgeable, patient with our questions and had wonderful energy. So much to learn and see here. Loved every second.!!
Rosa was well informed and imparted her knowledge with humour and intrigue. Her insight into a large section of history and her understanding of the many cultures covered in the museum provided us with an enjoyable tour.
Galy was the most incredible tour guide. I can’t imagine visiting without a tour guide, I would have missed all the interesting nuggets she shared. I learned so much, it was amazing. She provided clear instructions on meeting point and Viator encourages to purchase tickets online ahead of time, which helped a lot. Thank you Galy!
Jesus was a fantastic knowledge friendlywelcome guide . He talked about the collection with passion and made us feel like we were his friends
What a museum! I highly recommend visiting the Anthropology Museum, and having an expert guide like Galy made it even more exceptional. She led us through all of the regions in just two hours. I'd suggest adding a third hour, though, because there is so much to see and we were flying through it. Go, and be sure to take Galy along!
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. However, the tour did not last 2 hours. It started at 4:00. Security made everyone leave after 1 hour and 45 minutes. We were outside by 6:00.
Our private tour of the National Museum of Anthropology was one of the highlights of our visit to Mexico City. Having a private guide made an enormous difference, as they brought the museum’s incredible exhibits to life with fascinating stories, historical context, and cultural insights that we never would have discovered on our own. The guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about Mexico’s rich history and heritage. They tailored the tour to our interests, answered all of our questions, and made even the most complex topics easy to understand. The museum can feel overwhelming because of its size, but the private tour ensured we saw the most important exhibits while gaining a deeper appreciation for Mexico’s ancient civilizations. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Mexico City. It was informative, enjoyable, and well worth it—a truly unforgettable way to explore one of the world’s finest anthropology museums.
Our guide came with another person to help which meant we had to tip two people instead of one, which I did not like. Both were OK but sometimes the english was difficult to understand. I felt a little rushed at times because it is such a huge vast museum and I saw other guides showing and explaining things which our guide did not. Both guides were very nice people.
We had an absolutely wonderful time. Our tour guide, Rosa was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The museum had so much great stuff to see and experience, and we were absolutely better off seeing it with someone like Rosa who could walk us through it all!
Our guide ,Jesus was simply brilliant. His knowledge and explanation of the Meshica/Aztec history was exemplary. The personal touch explaining the significance of the different artifacts in the collection almost brought back the historical era to life. In addition, the Mayan & Spanish era added meaning to the colourful rainbow tapestry of the current Mexican people. Thank you Jesus!
Fer was very knowledgeable and sprinkled in enough anecdotes to keep it lively.
Arturo was an exceptional guide for our private Museum of Anthropology tour — extremely informative, engaging, and clearly passionate about the subject. As history buffs, my wife and I deeply appreciated his command of Mesoamerican history and his ability to weave the artifacts into the broader stories of the Aztec, Maya, Olmec, and other civilizations on display. The museum is massive and could easily be overwhelming on your own, but Arturo knew exactly which exhibits to focus on and provided rich historical context throughout. Highly recommend.
Wonderful guide! Liss was very knowledgable and helpful. The museum itself is huge so this tour felt like the tip of the iceberg, but was a good way to get an overview. Would recommend!
Really important to have a first class tour guide. We want to highly commend Ismael, who shared his deep knowledge better than any other we have experienced ( and we are world travellers) Also: There was a problem on the subway and he was about 20 mins late but he gave us an extra hour to make up for it.l! It was a pleasure to be with him. Please give him all our gratitude for his care and hard work. It was a privilege for us. Louise Dennys
The museum is so large that you need a guide so that the best bits are selected. Rosa did just this in a nice chronological order.
Jesus was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. It was a very interesting and informative tour. I highly recommend him.
Excellent. Esmael was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, culture and architecture of Mexico City. But more than that, he was such a lovely person to be with .,, we had a great time. Lots of laughs and fun. I highly recommend Esmael as a guide. Five stars!
What an incredible tour! Really this is the only way to see the museum.
It was my first time to the museum, there is so much to see. I felt our wonderful guide gave us a thorough overview of all the different areas of the museum. I can't wait to go back again and again. Thank you
Our guide Aaron was very informative and knowledgeable. He toured us around the Museum of Archeology and it was very interesting.
Ofelia was our guide for our private tour and she was very knowledgeable and welcoming. The tour was private and cozy, open for us to ask whatever and go on our pace
Our Private Guided Tour of the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City with ROSA MARIA was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable, friendly, and covered quite a bit of history and culture in our 2+ hours with her. We all really enjoyed it and would 100% recommend this to anyone!
We had a thorough tour with Arturo at the Anthrolpology museum. This is a museum which requires a lot of time to digest so having an orientation with A guide really helped. I recommend seeing this museum early in your trip and also leaving extra time to wander.
We had an excellent tour with Rosa. She did a great job explaining the history of the region to us. We would definitely recommend the experience
Our guide, Arturo for the Museum of Anthropology, was exceptional: responsive, Knowledgeable, engaging and charming. Our group of 8 seniors could not have been better served.
Kind and knowledgeable guide. There is so much to learn. Highly recommend to anyone coming to CDMX interested in the culture and history.
Brenda is an amazing guide. She has a degree in Mexican history and is so knowledgeable about pieces in the museum. She is enthusiastic and engaging. Highly recommended this tour.
The tour was really nice—informative and thoughtfully presented. We learned so much about Mexico’s ancient civilizations and truly enjoyed exploring the Museum of Anthropology. And Jesús did a wonderful tour. Thanks!
We toured the anthropology museum for two hours with Rosa Maria. She was an excellent and very knowledgeable tour guide. The museum is quite large with multiple sections. I was also surprised to see the most of the signs do not include an English translation so I was super excited to have her to explain the artifacts and the connections between the various ancient civilizations. In reality without a guide, it would be very difficult to understand what you are looking at and for such a large museum. It was actually really helpful to have the guidance and additional insights. Thank you, Rosa Maria for an absolutely excellent day!
Tour guide isn't licensed yet and doesn't have a relevant degree so he wasn't able to explain anything in depth. It felt like he was just reading off the placards. He was friendly and patient with us, but we felt dissapointed in the expirence overall. We could have gotten more out of the expirence on our own.
You will need this tour especially if you have limited time at the museum — and/or limited time in CDMX. This museum is HUGE! So you will really need a guide who can point to the essential pieces and explain them to you. Rosa Maria, our guide, is very professional. Very thorough and she happily answered all our questions. We emerged from the tour with a greater appreciation of Mexico and its beautiful culture and rich history.
Great museum that covers the entire pre-Spanish history of Mexico. Be sure to go through with Guide!
We have had Ophelia as our guide, she has conveyed her passion for anthropology and explained everything in a simple way. You can tell he's passionate about his work.
