This was my absolute worse experience on Viator. It was my first day in CDMX and I was excited about the tour. The guide Ross Maria gave me the name of the location which a gave to my uber driver. When the driver dropped me offf at that location, she wasn’t there. I reached out to her to help me connect with her and she kept dropping the wrong locations. I was following her directions and at one point she said “oh you’re here.!” I tried to find her since she said she could see me near. She then messaged me back again and said no I was still in the wrong location. Long story short, I chased here all over the park for TWO hours. Her final message was basically I hope you fine me because your two hours are almost up. I found that very inconsiderate given the fact that she didn’t make it easy to locate. While she was standing one one location, I was running all over a park that bigger than Central Park in NYC. There should have been an effort made to still do the tour. I ended up doing it alone, going back to my hotel and crying for the rest of the afternoon, I was so upset. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

Rosa was an amazing tour guide! Without doing the tour, we would’ve missed out on so much of the castle. I highly recommend this tour!

Perla was a very knowledgeable tour guide, the was kind, warm and personable. Go before 12:00 before it gets really hot and earlier in your trip to get any add’l tips from the guide. Food in the park is not very good so make plans to eat before hand since the tour was 2 hours. It’s about a 10 min walk up the hill to get to the castle. No snacks / drinks allowed.

Our guide, Ismael, was wonderful. He was warm, pleasant, and incredibly patient throughout the tour. Most importantly, with several degrees in the humanities, he had an excellent understanding of exactly what we were interested in. We truly enjoyed our time with him, and the tour was both engaging and very informative. I would highly recommend Ismael to anyone interested in learning about a new culture!

Perla was our guide, we did a 2hr tour and it was just right. I've been here before, but she covered more things and gave a good background. Of course bring comfy shoes.

It is a little deceiving the fact that you have to pay the entrance to the castle. The guide was good

I’ve taken a lot of tours in a lot of places but Alejandro was an incredible guide! He took us all around and inside the castle. We would not have gotten even a fraction of the experience had we gone alone. We enjoyed it very much and learned a ton! He was extremely knowledgeable. Would recommend 10/10

Visited Chapultepec Castle and hired Arturo as our guide, well worth it. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and brought the history to life in a way we wouldn’t have gotten on our own. Learned a great deal in a short time. Highly recommend hiring a guide, and Arturo in particular, for anyone visiting. Also, great photographer.

This was a fantastic private tour. The guide was prompt, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. He messaged us with precise instructions beforehand which made coordination easy. He showed us all of the highlights of the castle and attached museums and taught us a lot about Mexican history along the way. And he was also on top of the weather—he knew a storm was coming so he rearranged the order of our tour so we could see the exterior of the castle and take scenic pictures before the storm hit. All in all a great private tour. Highly recommended.

Because of traffic our guide had to wait 20mins for us, but was still so patient and welcoming and helped us with the tickets and the lockers! Once in the castle, he knew so much and gave us a really informative but brief insight into the building's history, but also added some context and pointed out small details we surely would have missed! We can really recommend his tour!

We took this private tour with Ernesto and I’d strongly recommend starting early while it’s still cool and before the crowds build. We began at around 9:30am, which was perfect - by lunchtime the school groups were arriving in force! Ernesto was intelligent, thoughtful, and never rushed. He has an impressive depth of knowledge about the history and development of Mexico, Mexico City, and its wonderfully diverse population and his passion really comes through. He tailored the tour to our interests, answered all our questions, took photos for us, and guided us effortlessly through the 700 (nearly 701!) years since the founding of Mexico City (see… I was paying attention! 🤣). Wherever we travel, we try to use a local guide for key sites, and Ernesto is exactly why. We got far more from our (slightly over!) two hours with him than we ever would have wandering around alone or relying on an audio guide. If you’re unsure whether to book, do it. You won’t regret it. We talked about seeing the castle without a guide but wow it’s definitely better with one! Ricardo met us promptly and kept great communication beforehand of where to meet him. As history buffs, my wife and I were thoroughly impressed by her command of the castle's layered past — from its origins as a viceregal retreat through the Maximilian and Carlota era and on to its later role as a presidential residence. She brought each room and vista to life with vivid stories and historical context, turning what could have been a routine visit into a genuinely memorable experience. Highly recommend.

We loved our tour of the Castle thanks to our amazing guide Carolina. The castle is up on a hill and a hike to get to from the ticket booth, but once you get there the views are amazing. The history is rich and the castle and rooms are incredible to see. Having a guide made it all the more exciting - we learned so much.

A very great tour which was highly informative. Our tour guide Arturo was an amazing story teller and was very captivating. Learning all about Mexican history was amazing, and having a personal guide to ask any questions we had to was great. Also, Arturo knew all the best spots to take pictures at around the museum, especially the more uncommon spots that are harder to find!

This was probably the highlight of our trip! From the start, our tour guide Arturo was communicative and professional. The company was very gracious in allowing me to rectify a mistake I made while booking, and kindly pointed out my mistake. The tour itself was so amazing! Although I speak Spanish, my family does not so it was done completely in English. He was knowledgeable and clearly very excited to share. We all agreed that we were so happy not to have missed such rich background knowledge of the beautiful castle, and we loved that he knew all the perfect spots to take the best pictures! We can’t say enough about the company, the guide and the level of communication. Highly recommend!

There was so much to learn about this castle. The grounds are beautiful and the history amazingly told by our guide, Brenda. She is a great story teller and was so enthusiastic throughout the tour.

He’s a phenomenal storyteller who knows exactly how much detail to provide. Never overwhelming, never surface level. Every story had context, depth, and heart. He brought the history to life in a way that made it memorable and meaningful. I left feeling like I didn’t just see the site, I truly understood it. Highly recommend.

Chapultepec Castle and the National History Museum are don't miss experiences and best seen with a private guide. (There is little or no explanation in English.) Ernesto was deeply knowledgable and we had a wonderful, rich experience.
