The castle is a place, revealing much about Mexican history. Sal was very informative and cheerful. Our best tour guide in CDMX.

Itinerary
The National Museum of Anthropology contains the world's largest collection of ancient Mexican art and also has ethnographic exhibits about Mexico's present-day indigenous groups. Exhibited on two large floors, these displays show ancient human remains and art objects. Among its outstanding exhibits are the “Group of Figures” from the Olmec culture and the 22-ton Aztec “Sun Stone,” representing the history of the world.
Chapultepec Castle was originally created as a rest home for governors, it has been the headquarters of Colegio Militar, where the famous battle against the USA army was fought and was inaugurated as a museum in 1944. Now it serves as a museum and is the only castle in Latin America.

Highly recommend this private tour with Vibe Adventures! Our guide, Sal, picked us up right on time and was so personable from the start. He is incredibly knowledgeable and made exploring the Anthropology Museum and Chapultepec Park a great experience. The best part about Sal is his attitude, he genuinely seemed to enjoy the visit just as much as we did, which made the day feel really special. Great guide, great company, and an amazing tour.
I would highly recommend this tour for English speakers. The anthropology museum doesn’t have plaques in English so having a tour guide that can explain what you are looking at really makes the experience more enjoyable. It was also great having a guide that can lead you from the castle to the museum. Sal (our tour guide) spoke wonderful English. He was very informative of the Mexican history and had great stories to tell. Sal was flexible in our private tour and made sure we all had a great time.
We had an absolutely wonderful time on our tour in Mexico City with Sal as our guide. From the moment we met him, he was friendly, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. His deep understanding of Mexican history, culture, and art brought every site to life, and his explanations were detailed, engaging, and easy to follow. Although our original plan included a visit to Chapultepec Castle, it was unexpectedly closed. Rather than letting that disappoint the day, Sal quickly adapted the itinerary and took us to the fascinating Museo Soumaya instead. We are so glad he did! The museum was full of remarkable artwork and exhibits, and Sal’s insightful commentary helped us appreciate pieces we might otherwise have overlooked. As vegetarians, we especially appreciated Sal’s thoughtfulness in helping us navigate meal options and recommending suitable dishes. It made the experience much more enjoyable and stress-free. What stood out most was Sal’s flexibility, patience, and genuine desire to ensure we had a memorable experience. He was always willing to answer questions, share local insights, and go the extra mile to make the tour special. We learned a great deal, saw wonderful places, including the Anthropology Museum, which is a must and thoroughly enjoyed our day. We would highly recommend Sal to anyone visiting Mexico City who wants an informative, enjoyable, and personalized tour experience.
Amazing experience! Do not do visit this museum without a tour! Tour guide was very informative and shares a lot of information with us.
We did our tour with Sal. He was great. Very knowledgeable and very personable all at the same time. Highly recommend him.
An unforgettable day exploring Mexico City’s history with Mario and Roberto! We visited the incredible pyramids of Teotihuacan, walked through the beautiful Chapultepec Castle, and ended at the fascinating Museo Nacional de Antropología. Honestly, it wouldn’t have been the same without our guide Mario and driver Roberto. Mario was extremely knowledgeable and brought every site to life with stories, history, and details we would have completely missed on our own. He made everything easy to understand and engaging the entire time. Roberto was just as amazing, as he was professional, safe, and made getting around the city smooth and stress-free.
If you are short on time and want to say you’ve been there done that to check this box, this tour is probably for you. Even with five hours, it felt extremely rushed. I felt like Andres was just running through all of the museum exhibits and castle, sticking to a script, with very little time to actually browse. While I’m not a “read every plaque” kind of person, this wasn’t the vibe (nor the speed) I was hoping for. As it was also my third tour (through Viator) I had very high expectations, and I left feeling like I needed to go back to both the museum and the castle.
Our tour guide Diana was amazing and very knowledgeable. This particular tour involves a lot of walking/standing as the museum is enormous. We were lucky to get this tour to come through as Viator isn’t reliable in connecting the tours with available tour guides.
Ari was very personable and knowledgeable and was happy to customize the tour to our needs. She focused on the top items to see in each of the many areas in the Anthropology Museum, which minimized our feeling of being overwhelmed.
We had a wonderful experience with Alberto. His knowledge of Mexican anthropology is extensive. Our understanding of Mexican history has increased significantly. Definitely time well spent
Mario was wonderful. He picked us up about hotel and drove us to the Anthropology Museum. We spent over 3 hours there with him. He is full of knowledge of Mexico’s history and Mexico City. My kids wanted to see some axolotes and he said the zoo nearby had some and entrance was free. Super flexible and gave us time for lunch and the zoo before heading to see the castle. He drove us back to our hotel. It was a perfect way to start our vacation.
Arturo was outstanding tour guide. He was very informative and knowledgeable of mexico and its history. I would highly recommend this tour and arturo
Very knowledgeable and helpful guide. Overall good experience.
We really enjoyed this tour of the Museum of Anthropology with Arturo. He led us to all the most important parts of the museum and gave us a great overview of what is otherwise a very extensive museum. It was a great way to understand the history of Mexico before we went to the pyramids at Teotihuacan the next day. Arturo also guided us through the Castle and again made sure to explain the most important exhibits in a clear and interesting presentation.
We had a fantastic experience with our tour guide Arturo in Mexico City. Even though we didn’t book a private tour, it ended up being just the three of us, which made the experience feel very personal and relaxed. Arturo took us through the Museo Nacional de Antropología and Chapultepec Castle, sharing so many interesting facts and stories along the way. He was incredibly patient, took time to answer all of our questions, and made sure we really understood the history and significance of what we were seeing. He was also very friendly and welcoming, and you could genuinely tell how much he loves Mexico City. His enthusiasm made the tour even more enjoyable. We learned a lot and had a wonderful time! Highly recommend Arturo if you’re looking for a knowledgeable and engaging guide in Mexico City!
Great time. Erika was very knowledgeable and had a lot of insight on the exhibits that were not on the accompanying plaques
Andrés was super knowledgeable about pretty much everything on this tour. Had we visited this museum and castle on our own we wouldn’t have got 1/50th of the info we were given. So glad we did it the way we did!
Arturo, our guide, was amazingly knowledgeable and personable! He was able to take thousands of years of history and boil it down in a way that gave us such a greater understanding of the culture and the evolution of the country of Mexico. Will definitely look him up next time we are in CDMX 😊
The first thing to note is that our guide - Mario - is just a good person to spend a day with. We could have spent a whole day in the Museum of Anthropology, but Mario led us through the exhibits to tell a concise but comprehensive story of Pre-Columbian Mexico while hitting all the highlights. In particular, we appreciated the way he kept us moving through crowds so that we didn’t have to listen to competing narrations, and the way he used the murals throughout the museum to provide a visual complement to his story. My kids appreciated the way he pointed out good photo opportunities. Both museums are so full of information, and we might have been overwhelmed going through them by ourselves. Because we had limited time to see these sites, we were glad to have a capable guide and consider this experience money well spent.
The guide was good and very knowledgeable and was accommodative to our interest and needs, the anthropology museum is a definite must do
Sal was our tour guide. He genuinely cares about the history of Mexico and his passion was shared with us through the history, fun facts and the excellent conversations during our time with him. Tour was paced well starting in Historic Center then walking by the Palacio of Bella Artes. During our walk he pointed out buildings of historic importance and shared information along the way. He accommodated our request to go into el Palacio de Bella Artes to see some key pieces of art, we learned if you are a teacher or student with valid ID we could enter for free. From there we drove to Chapuletepec Castle and then walked to National Museum of Anthropology. Along the way we took pictures and stopped to try yummy pan dulce. It was an excellent day with lots of walking. He dropped us at a stop to have lunch. His lunch recommendation was excellent delicious food, clean and there was music (Cafe de Tacbua), the first stop he recommended didn’t have pozole so we walked to 2nd option. Highly recommend Sal and he offers other guided tours. Note: his car was clean and fit 4 people comfortably. I mentioned another with another guide car was tiny.
Diana gave us an amazing tour of Museo Nacional de Antropología, Chapultepec Castle, and the Historic Center. Energetic, informative, and hospitable! We took the tour on New Year's Eve, and it was worth every peso. Roberto was a great driver, as well!
We had a wonderful time with Arturo guiding us through the museum and castle. He was so knowledgeable, patient, and very kind. He took time to explain things to us, and totally accomodated our needs. We highly recommend this experience.
Arturo was a great guide. He picked us up from our hotel promptly, and provided many interesting insights into the cultural history of Mexico City, and a great overview of many key pieces in the Museum of Anthropology. He weaved all of the facts together into an engaging story. Our time with him was very well spent!
About 5 miles of walking through these 2 amazing structures. Sal was great at showing us the highlights and avoiding crowds. Take time for a lunch break at the Museo.
This tour was a good choice for diving deeper into Mexico’s history. It switched to a private tour when there weren’t enough participants, and the company was very accommodating when my wife got sick and I went alone. Pickup was on time. Arturo, my guide, was friendly, chatty, and clearly knowledgeable. The Anthropology Museum visit was the highlight—really interesting, especially after having already seen Teotihuacan and other sites. We had a quick coffee break afterward, then a shorter visit to Chapultepec Castle to see the artwork and city views. Overall, a solid, informative tour.
Our guide, Mayra, was so knowledgeable and pleasant! She was a great communicator and checked in the day before the tour and gave excellent directions on where to meet. The museum of anthropology is enormous and could be overwhelming, but Mayra expertly guided us through the main highlights and additional exhibits that were relevant to questions we asked. After the museum, she took us through the Bosque forest (twice the size of Central Park!) to get to Chapultepec castle. The castle is something you would never expect to find in Mexico because of the European influence and is worth seeing. I additionally enjoyed seeing the murals and hearing Mayra explain the history behind what was depicted. I would recommend booking an early tour, as both sites get busy in the late morning/early afternoon.
The Museum of Anthropology is massive and you could spend an entire day there. This tour was helpful to walk quickly through the halls and touch upon the highlights. It was really useful to have English explanations of what we were seeing
This tour was amazing! Mayra was so personable and knowledgeable, and really customized the tour to what we wanted. She not only knew about the subject matter, but she knows where all the good photo spots are. Highly recommend this tour to everyone!
The tour was exceptional. Our guide had almost 20 years of experience and was educated in Mexican history. Because it was private, we were able to modify the tour to our own tastes as well. In addition to our guide, there is a dedicated driver, making the logistics seamless.
It was great i would record it to everyone. Our tour guide Cesar was the best, with excellent knowledge
This was a great experience. The Anthropolgy museum is overwhelming with it's size so we were lucky to have Pepe as our guide. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable but he treated my wife and I like family from the moment we met him. I would reccomend him to anyone visiting Mexico City.
Excellent tour with the best tour guide, Diana. She was so knowledgeable and patient with us. We were lucky to have her as our guide.
1. Stated on the website the tour is gonna start at 9am. Got informed at 9:05 the meeting time was 9:30am 2. Guide didn’t show up until 9:40am 3. No approach to reach out to the provider. Telephone says not operating hour. Whatsapp message only auto reply. 4. Totally time wasting. Nasty and disgusting.
Ricardo was an excellent and professional guide through the entire 5 hour tour. He was accommodating as well. I highly recommend his services. He was
Pepe was an amazing your guide. We enjoyed learning the history of the castle. We had a few items in the museum that were must sees. Pepe made sure we found them. Would definitely book again.
Ari was a fantastic guide for this experience. She was personable, knowledgeable, flexible, and quickly found out what we would find especially interesting to focus on. Both museums are huge and full of amazing exhibits and without her guidance we would have truly missed out on the opportunity to explore these world class institutions. She hosts other tours and I'll be sure to look for her the next time I'm in Mexico City!
Sal was an excellent guide. He clearly knows his subject and bought the history of Mexico to life. This tour is not to be missed. The combination of the museum and castle makes for a varied experience - and is better for it. I should also mention that the park itself is amazing! There's a bit of a climb to get up to the castle but the views of Mexico City alone make it worthwhile.
Ari was great! Knowledgeable and kind. We had a lovely tour. Would recommend. Museum is huge and if you want to go back after the tour with your ticket you can.
Extensive knowledge and friendly personality made Alfredo the perfect guide. He answered all our questions and even found a great restaurant for lunch. We really enjoyed our tour.
Our guide Jose was very knowledgeable and had a great delivery style. Very enjoyable day. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Easy
We had a wonderful day with Daniel of Vibe Adventures, exploring the Museo de Anthropologia and Castillo de Chapultepec. He is an encyclopedia of historical knowledge about Mexico. It is a long day with a lot of walking, but Daniel made it fun. Despite getting a late start, I would definitely recommend this tour to be visitors of Mexico City, and we will definitely be booking Daniel again as our tour guide!
This tour is worth every peso/penny! Highly recommended. Our tour guide, Julia, was amazing. She is friendly, kind, patience and brilliant. We had so much fun being with her. There is no doubt had we visited the Castle and the Anthropological Museum on our own we would have see amazing things, but we wouldn’t have learned anything about the incredible and fascinating history of Mexico and Mexico City. We left this tour smarter than before we started and that is all thanks to Julia.
The castle and museum were awesome! Ari was amazing! She shared so much of her great knowledge and experience with us. We all learned a lot from her. She was very personable and accommodated all of our requests. She even made excellent recommendations for other things for us to see and do during our remaining time in the city. We highly recommend this tour to everyone!
I was very surprised at the attention since we were picked up. The experience of Andrés our guide was very valuable to the experience!! The places were great but I manage the weather very well. I would definitely repeat it again!!
Interessante, sapere come nasce il popolo messicano alle origini e le città il nome da dove deriva e
Chapultepec Castle is beautiful, full of history, everything on display makes you think you are in that era!! It was interesting Learn about Carlota and Maximiliano's way of life through each room and object. The floats see the constitution!! The paintings, murals!! All beautiful
After doing other tours with Vibe Adventures all perfect, we relied on them for this too. Our guide, Silvia, was spectacular, both in telling us every detail of what we saw, both historical anecdotes that binds this area of the city to Europe. also wonderful museum that seen on a tour becomes even more incredible and appreciable. A note of merit for the stall that Silvia recommended for lunch, giant sandwiches, super stuffed and delicious. Congratulations to Silvia and Vibe Adventures.
Un tour bonito y enriquecedor, gracias a Charly nuestro guía, quien con su buena disposición y sus conocimientos, nos ofreció un panorama muy completo de las culturas mesoamericanas y la historia de México. El Museo de Antropología es maravilloso.
