A really great experience! I learned so much about the origins of tequila and mezcal and got to taste local favorites as well as learn about amazing small businesses and their mezcals. My tour guide Alejandro was professional, well educated and explained everything wonderfully. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who would like to learn more about these spirits abd have a fun experience while in CDMX.

Itinerary
Three bars in Roma Norte, six Mexican spirits and one cocktail. Each stop does something the others can’t: the first opens up the range of what Mexico distils, the second goes deep into mezcal itself, and the third puts a shaker in your hand.
An old-school mezcalería, the kind still found across the Mexican interior. Three spirits map the range of what Mexico distils: one made from pulque, one from a desert plant that isn’t an agave at all, one from the agave fields of the west. You leave this stop able to pick up any bottle in Mexico and read what’s in your hands, the plant, the region and the method, which is what makes everything that follows land.
A private tasting room, the most serious room on the route, built by a chef around one of the city’s great agave collections. Three mezcals, each from a different plant, a different region and a different maker, tasted side by side and each paired with one of her moles. This is where the first stop pays off: you find out why two bottles that are both mezcal taste nothing alike. The agaves behind them spent years, sometimes decades, in the ground, and none of these batches will ever be made the same way twice.
A lively neighbourhood bar to finish. You get behind the counter and mix your own mezcal cocktail, which is where everything you’ve tasted stops being information and turns into something you can make at home.

Very fun and informative. Alisa and Alejandro were great guides.
Alisa and Alejandro were amazing tour guides. Gave us a great rundown of a variety of Mexican liquors and their history.
Alisa and Alejandro were great, very knowledgeable! drinks were tasty and definitely got our moneys worth!
When looking for a tasting, I was hoping for a place I would make fun, versatile and interesting. Most seemed just 100% theory and I wasn’t into that.. luckily I run into this which was so much fun and I even learned how to make a cocktail while making new friends and drinking from A mezcal with snake !!
Amazing! I learned a lot about a mezcal and other derivates. Matuche was my favorite, the guide, Alejandro, made the tour experience so enjoyable and fun
We did the mezcal tour with Sherpa Tours and enjoyed it a lot. Alejandro was a knowledgeable and friendly guide — he explained the different types of mezcal, how it's made, and some of the regional differences in a clear, easy-to-follow way. The tastings were well organized and gave a good sense of the variety out there. Alejandro answered our questions patiently and shared some interesting background on the history and culture of mezcal along the way.
The mezcal tour turned out to be an unforgettable surprise and adventure. As a Mexican, I discovered flavors and drinks I had never tried before, and celebrating my birthday made it even more special. Our guide, Alejandro, was the key to making the experience truly enjoyable for me and my friends. From the very first stop—where we were amazed to find a snake infused in our drink—to the second stop, where the tasting offered an explosion of flavors, it was one surprise after another. The pace was relaxed, with plenty of time to ask questions and savor each drink, making the tour feel personal and welcoming. Without a doubt, we’ll be coming back to join more of their tours.
I had a wonderful experience celebrating my 37th birthday on the mezcal tour. As a Mexican, I was delighted to discover new flavors and drinks, and I found a genuine appreciation for mezcal during this journey. Our guide, Alejandro, was warm, kind, and attentive, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
I liked the second stop at Matuche a lot, it was my favorite and I loved Maxima
The tour is incredible, Ale knows a lot about mezcals, and makes it super fun, the mole with the mezcal was something I didn't expect, I think it was a great idea, plus we didn't just have mezcal at the beginning, we tried tequila, distilled pulque, and sotol, then at the second restaurant we tried three different types of mezcals, each one completely different, and we finished by preparing our own drink at Barra Lupe. Ale shined, she had an answer for everything and completely mastered all the information related to mezcal.
Very complete tour to learn the basics of mezcal and mole. Very good explanation by Alejandro. Thank you!
My friends and I traveled to CDMX from Acapulco and part of our activities was attending the tour. I felt a little nervous but it was an experience in which I had a lot of fun; there was a good atmosphere and the experience in general seemed interesting to me. During the tour we visited three places but my favorite was Matuche, they had very good mezcal and the mood of the place is very pleasant. I recommend the Máxima (mezcal), it was my favorite... plus they accompany the tasting with samples of different moles. They are all veeeery delicious. Overall, it was a great tour. I recommend it if you want to spend a pleasant evening.
This evening turned my ideas about mezcal upside down. I used to think he was just "a bit of a flirt." It turns out it can be very different (with floral, fruity, spicy, and other completely unexpected notes)... And what a surprise it was to try not only mezcal, but also sotol and pulque distillate. But the most memorable moment for me is the prayer! Three different moles that perfectly paired with three types of mezcal at the Matuche bar, now he will be on my list of favorites. My favorites are mezcal from the state of Puebla with notes of rose and green mole. Thanks to Alejandro, our guide, I laughed and started to understand what I was trying. Verdict: tasting - 5 stars, atmosphere - 5 stars, and Alejandro I would give 6 stars if the rules allowed.
I never thought a mezcal tasting would be such a cool experience. Tasting the mole poblano together with a super smoky mezcal is the best thing that happened to me that day. I was very surprised discovering the different agave spirits and I left feeling even prouder to be Mexican 🇲🇽🇲🇽 My favorite bar was Matuche, an intimate place with mezcals of a quality I had never tasted before
The tour was incredible. I am Mexican, but there were too many things I didn't know about mezcal. In addition to learning new things, I really liked the different styles of the places we visited. My favorite place was Matuche <3 I really appreciate places that sell products that have a place of origin and even the name of the person who made it <3 I'm going to post a photo of that mezcal ✨ Also, the mole they gave us was an incredible way to see mezcal from another POV, it can be fancy and at the same time still feel very artisanal. I never would have imagined such a perfect combination of both. The places are at a good distance and you can get there walking, the area feels safe so you can focus only on enjoying the tour!
