Wow! This tour was incredible. Alan, our guide, was friendly and fun. The whole team was great. I have been wanting to book a tour to La Isla de Muñecas for a long time and it did NOT disappoint. The tour came with exotic snacks native to the area, mezcal and tequila. I would recommend booking this tour.

The tour takes you to the real island of the dolls. Our tour guide was Aldo, he was a blast. Really liked him. We sailed the canal to the spOOOOooooooOOky island of the dolls and was able to explore. On the boat we had drinking, games and even karaoke. The canals are very peaceful and saw lots of birds. The tour has a secure, fenced in place to park your car and also has a bathroom. Definitely recommend!
Aldo was knowledgeable and grew up in the area. Tour was just the right length. Good snacks and drinks. Would highly recommend.
Tequila and a boat ride! The dolls were very creepy but it was worth it to understand more of why the area exists. Our tour guide Alan was awesome. He really has a passion for the history of the area and you can see that when he's explaining things along the way.
Alan and crew were kind, professional, and fun. Alan is both a warm host and a knowledgeable guide. His gifts as a storyteller and teacher are evident, as is his passion for sharing the culture and ecology of this very unique place. Along with our 16 year old, 11 year old, and their aunt and uncle we visited the Island of the Dolls - it is absolutely worthwhile to hear the whole backstory from a local - and got to visit the axolotl sanctuary to learn about their incredible evolution. Along the way we saw all kinds of plant and animal life and had a hilarious time learning local drinking customs as a bonus 😄 The signage at the entrance gate to the meeting place is not super obvious at first, but eventually you'll find it, or the crew will find you to let you know you're in the right place!
Take this tour if you want to skip the party boats and learn the real history behind Xochimilco. Alan and his team were amazing - super knowledgeable and focused on sustainability and the indigenous roots of the area. The ride was incredibly beautiful and peaceful and we enjoyed great tequila, mezcal and local snacks. We brought our kids and they had a great time playing the games. All in all 10 out of 10!!
This tour was the highlight of our time in Ciudad Mexico! We absolutely loved it! It was well organized. personal, fun and interesting. Alan was an amazing tour guide. We had so much fun learning about the Island of the dolls. It was so intriguing and scary all at the same time. Alan teaches you about the legend and also explains the need to respect the island too. There are games and music and fun to be had through out as well. It is a tour not to be missed.
Alan was a great tour guide. Small nice group. Super fun experience. I highly recommend this tour. Free margaritas and snacks too
this was so fun, the guides were friendly and had such a good warm vibe. being on the boat was very relaxing while games and chat added some fun. the time on the island itself was good. highly recommend.
It was a wonderful experience. The hosts were great and knowledgeable of the history of the area. Fun and informative. This is the real island of the dolls. They were also easy to communicate with because the pick-up location can be a bit tricky. Suggest a florescent sign.
Alan was a great host and the boat trip to the island was great, as was the return trip with the games. The jury is out for me about the island. The story/legend is 'the sell' - the island itself, some will say weird and spooky and some will say grotty and tatty. Neither are wrong. The biggest issue is getting there. It's time consuming and expensive but understandably they have not attempted to coordinate pick-ups given the vastness of Mexico City.
We had the best time with Alan and his crew on this canal tour! Alan was super helpful when the Uber driver dropped us at the wrong place, and so knowledgeable about the Xochimilco canals. He kept us entertained with the spooky stories about La Isla de las Munecas and kept the vibes fun when we were on the water too. We enjoyed fine tequillas and mezcals and played Lotteria! I cannot recommend this tour highly enough!
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Mexico City! Boat, captain, Adrian, and tour guide Alan were so much fun and provided cocktails, games, and lots of interesting information about their home area. A stop at the island of the dolls made the trip even more fun. I highly recommend using this to our company. Be sure to stay away from the large corporate tours that are offered. Adrian and Alan grew up in this area and offer a very personal touch to their tour.
This was the greatest experience. Alan was so friendly and knowledgeable. We were not hassled with trying to buy anything and we had plenty of time to visit the island. The food, drinks, and games were so fun and engaging. The entire trip lasted about 2-3 hrs. It was perfect for what we wanted, not too long, fun, no hassle experience…would recommend 1000x
Knowledgeable and competent guide and boat driver. Very informative, just the right amount of comedy, and obviously very proud of his heritage.
We had a great time traveling with Alan to the Island of the Dolls! Alan is incredibly knowledgeable and fun! If you’re looking for something slightly esoteric, fun, and still want to experience the canals, this is the trip for you. Don’t expect the usual loud, drunk boat tour. (Nothing wrong with that. This just isn’t the same). While on the canals make sure you look up at trees. There are spooky surprises everywhere.
Alan and his team were absolute magic. We didn't know quite what we were signing up for but what it was was a lovely boat ride through some beautiful canals, terrific and copious drinks and snacks, a visit to a spooky island and to an axolotl conservatory, with a lot of fun and games along the way. Alan was tremendously knowledgable about everything from history and culture to biology and science and this was truly a wonderful way to spend and afternoon.
Best experience in Mexico City!! The boat ride, which included drinks, snacks & games along with detailed information about the area was fantastic!!
Mattie and Allen were great hosts for this tour. The island of the dolls was very cool and unique place to see. The games we played on the way back were fun and entertaining.
Absolutely amazing tour! Alan is a great storyteller! I enjoyed the tour and the games on the way back
We took a sunset tour of the Island of the Dolls, and it was unreal. Alan and his crew were so welcoming and really knew their stuff. They didn’t just show us the place—they brought it to life with stories and history. There’s something haunting and beautiful about the island. You feel it when you’re standing there, surrounded by those eerie, weathered dolls. It’s unsettling but also oddly meaningful. I left feeling connected to it in a way I didn’t expect. Can’t recommend this tour enough, and I’d love to book with them again next time we’re in Mexico City.
We took an Uber out on a Friday morning landing for the 12pm tour. It was actually easy to find because Alan messaged with all the info and it didn’t take as long as we feared it might. However the new pals we met on this tour had a nightmare Uber ride out of downtown the day before, where they ended up missing their booking. Luckily for them, and us, Alan was so cool that he let them come back the next day free of charge and join our tour. We had a blast on the cute boat with Alan as our host, and Cassidy and Natalie as our compañeras. 2 homemade quesadillas and very nice tequila hit the spot upon disembarking down the beautiful canals of the Xochimilco conservation area. Alan told us of his family and the culture of the area as we ate and drank passing other boats of locals. When we arrived at the island it was immediately obvious that this was a highlight of our time here in CDMX. Alan took us to a creepy cabin and told us the story of the island before allowing us to explore the rest ourselves. On the return trip Alan brought out three different bottles of mezcal for us to try and we played games for prizes and fun punishments. Very fun. There are also many shops and waterfront restaurants where we even had a few more drinks with our new friends before heading back to the city.
Loved this tour. I love anything scary that has a story. Enjoyed the boat ride, food and drinks. We were able to see the marigold field which was perfect for Dia de los Muertos. Food and drinks on the boat were delicious. Relaxing boat ride. The island was not a disappointment. The story was so interesting also a bit somber. There was lots of time to walk around and take photos.
This was an absolutely delightful experience. I was a solo traveler and wanted to join up with a group. We had delicious quesadillas, drinks, and mezcal. The games were fun. Alan informed us of the history of Doll Island and treated it with the sensitivity that it deserves. An excellent afternoon.
Wow🤩 I have been looking for different tours for a long time and never once regretted stopping on this one. Fun activities, tasty drinks and snacks and of course an amazing and spooky island. Thank you Alan and team 🙏
Where to even begin? This was easily the coolest experience I've had in Mexico so far on our trip. Perfect for those who enjoy spooky things, and learning new things. I've had a lot of tour guides, but Paola is easily one of the best. So friendly, fun, and kind. The boat trip to the island itself was incredibly fun, and the island is very creepy (which I loved). Santiago and Alan were also very fun and kind and made the experience even better. Make no mistake, if you come to Mexico City, you NEED to come here. If nothing else, for Paola's hospitality and how much effort she puts into the tour. She's the absolute best and puts a lot of thought and care into these tours and it shows. Even if you don't like spooky things, they do other tours, and to see this part of Mexico City is a must. Phenomenal time. Truly made coming to Mexico City worth it.
Came here as a solo traveler and had the best time of my life. Super fun, very entertaining and learned so much.
