Yimnah was our guide. It was my mom and me and the three of us just had the BEST time. Yimnah is so lovely and was an excellent guide through street eating and teaching us SO much about the local culture, history, food, etc. I cannot say enough good things! She took us to parts of the city we would have never even known to go and it was just so much fun! Not to mention delicious!

My wife and I booked both the Mexican Street Food tour and the Day of the Dead Food Tour at Mercado Jamaica, during our 6 night stay in Mexico City. Both tours were excellent, and provided a great introduction to Mexican food and the history behind the different foods we tried. We were extremely fortunate to have the superb Clara as our guide on both occasions. Not only is she very knowledgeable, but she also has a great knack of explaining things simply. I would recommend both tours to anyone visiting Mexico City.
Our guide was Nico. Superb knowledgeable and a great guide. I would highly recommend Our tour was the gourmet san juan food tour
Was a while experience. One of my favorite wall in Mexico City. A chance to get closer to the culture and people. Our guide Nico was fantastic. Personable, completely fluent, and passionate and engaged in the subject.
The guide was great and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed learning about local food culture.
We had a great tour, and our guide Toti was terrific. We had so much food that we were completely stuffed by the end of the tour. We tried 8-10 different foods and drinks at 6 different stops, and each item was explained in detail. Not just the food itself, but we also got context on how each dish was prepared, plus the history behind the dishes. We learned a lot, and everyone was so gracious and friendly. It was a walking tour, but we never felt tired or rushed, and our guide prepared and paced us well. One of the best tours we've had -- thank you!
If you do one thing in Mexico City, make it this EatMexico tour. We spent the morning tasting our way across the city and loved every bite — the chicharrones and the Bomba were standouts for me, and my 14-year-old proudly tried intestines and asked for more. What really made it, though, was our guide Clara: she knows the food inside and out and clearly loves it, and her enthusiasm was contagious. A delicious, memorable morning for the whole family. Don't miss it.
Nico - our guide - was amazing! Great tacos, cool history, lots of bits for my kids, and way too much food!!!
Clara was a fantastic guide, knowledgeable, warm and charming. The food was delicious. Walking through the City with someone who knows where to go and what to eat and the history of the food is a great experience.
Our guide was Yimmah (“Gim”). We walked around Central Mexico City eating from an extensive range of Street vendors. She was superb. She was charismatic, knowledgeable and taught us how Mexican cooking involved and was influenced by the Spanish who brought new techniques. We ate loads, huge variety, massively entertaining and “Gim” was brilliant. Recommended
Excellent tour! Several interesting and delicious foods. Explanations about the ingredients and cultural significance. Wonderful guide!
This tour was amazing thanks to Toti. Our guide was charming, knowledgeable and catered to the needs of six of us seniors. The pacing of the tour was perfect. The food was incredible and we learned so much about Mexican food and history. Thank you!!
Toti was a fabulous guide. She answered ALL of our crazy questions and is obviously passionate about food and providing a great tour experience. The food stops were amazing! I have a severe peanut allergy and she made sure I stayed safe. Highly recommend!!
What an absolutely amazing experience. We had the pleasure of touring with Clara who was absolutely wonderful. She took us all around the San Juan markets, as well as local street vendors. She had so many wonderful stories to tell, taught is tips and tricks for street foods and we had the best birria ans pastor weve ever had. I would give her 10 stars if I could.
Clara was our guide for a food tour with three adults and two 8-year-olds. She was phenomenal in selecting approachable yet interesting and new food options that appealed to everyone in the group. She was very kind and engaging with our kids. The food we tried was all delicious. I’ve been on other food tours that felt a bit like a gauntlet of information and food, but this tour had bite-sized portions of both. If you’re looking for a kid-friendly food tour that is also interesting for adults, look no further!
I chose this tour for my husband and friends because the year before we had booked a night time taco tour that was amazing and it was from the same company. I guess not ever tour is the same for this company and it really depends on the guide you’re assigned. Unfortunately for us, our guide had a personal preferences for vegetarian & health conscious so our tour was mainly of vegetarian foods. To be honest, I don’t think she was a real foodie either because the places she took us to were okay at best. Not very flavorful - at times bland. I had found more delicious eateries in my own search. I would have been less annoyed and disappointed if I had intentionally & knowingly chose a tour that was listed as vegetarian forward - but I didn’t. So when 7 out of the 10 items we had were vegetarian (example number) I couldn’t help but think it was false advertisement and somewhat inconsiderate of the guide. I’m happy that that’s your lifestyle and it works for you, but as a paying customer don’t impose it onto me. Did I think the cost of the tickets were worth this particular tour with this particular guide? Absolutely not. It was kind of embarrassing too, as I had hyped the company up by raving about the night taco tour we had done with the in the past. I could clearly see the dissatisfaction on my friends faces with every vegetarian bite - we even joked saying we didn’t realize we booked a vegetarian/vegan tour.
Nico was an incredible guide, very passionate about history and culinary culture. As a well traveled foodie I learned so much from those few hours with him, with amazing bites and memories along the way!
We visited Mexico City for the first time and had a Beginner Street food tour with Clara. She was an absolute delight. She was thoughtful in her approach and was very knowledge in introducing us to the culture, the food and its origin. It was the highlight of our 4 day trip. The tour was excellent with Clara. We highly recommend.
Toti was a perfect guide. I thought I knew something about tacos, but she presentes me with may more information and flavours It was a delighting afternoon filled with good food and good info
Clara was amazing we had so much fun trying things we wouldn’t have ever known to find otherwise
Our family of five (2 adults and three kids, ages 21, 20 and 20) loved our "Beginner's Guide" street food tour. Our guide, Clara, was exceptionally knowledgeable and experienced (with multiple roles in the Mexican culinary industry), so we learned a tremendous amount while remaining completely relaxed and enjoying ourselves immensely.
We had a wonderful Gourmet San Juan Market & Street Food tour with Clara! Our family of seven people, which ranged in age (12 - 52), cuisine type (pescatarian, vegetarian, gluten-free, omnivorous), and spice level (cautious to adventurous) all ate well and learned an enormous amount. We discovered a number of items that we purchased to enjoy again, but did not feel pressured to buy, and Clara did a fantastic job of helping us navigate the different options.
Nico was fantastic. He was sweet and smart and easy-going and took us to the creative places to eat. we really love going into the market and tasting everything from tequila to fruit to cheese and more and on the street all the different tacos and tortillas.
This is an incredible food tour, which our family of two adults and two kids (10 and 12) loved. Everything we tried was interesting and delicious, and Toti who led our tour was lovely and really knows her food. Cannot recommend this experience enough. Come hungry!
Toti took us to 8 or 9 spots for a variety of delicious foods. Our family of three was well taken care of. Highly recommend!
I did a fantastic street food tour with Clara. She introduced us to a variety of street food and explained a lot of the food and culture of the city. It was an amazing tour that I highly recommend for a solo traveler or a group.
Clara was an excellent guide on our Family Friendly Streets & Sweets tour. She was kind to our children, informative, patient and just a lovely person to spend an afternoon with. We learned so much and enjoyed a ton of delicious food we wouldn’t have found on our own.
We did this food tour on the first morning of our trip, and it turned out to be the perfect way to start our time in the city. Not only did we get acquainted with a wide variety of incredible food options, but we also learned so much about the culture and the city itself. Toti’s passion for explaining the connections between food, history, and culture was absolutely contagious. We thoroughly enjoyed every part of the experience and came away with a much deeper appreciation for Mexican cuisine. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an authentic and meaningful deep dive into Mexican cusine.
The food selection was good, there were lots of things in the menu which I wanted to try and others which I had never heard of and was good to have an opportunity to try. The negatives about the experience were that the tour felt rushed, and I have to add that I found this to be a very overpriced experience, specially because on top of the expensive tour you also have to tip the guide. I understand that tips are part of Mexican culture but when compering the cost of the tour plus the tip against the cost of the food that we were given it’s definitely overpriced.
I can't recommend this highly enough! My guide TOTI was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and patient with all my questions. The tour is about more than food (although that would be enough jaja). You will learn about the culture and history of the city and get a great sense of the vibe of CDMX. She even helped me with my Spanish, although she was completely fluent in English. Sign up for this tour today!
We had an amazing tour with Nico. He deftly led us through the San Juan market area to amazing stalls and restaurants while giving an entertaining and in depth history of certain foods in Mexico City. I really appreciate the historic and cultural significance of the dishes Nico share with us including fresh seafood and cheese, Oaxacan specialties, and the best turkey sandwich and mole I’ve ever had. I would recommend Nico’s tour to anyone. Our group ranged in age from 12 to 73 - everyone had a great time.
I recommend starting your trip to Mexico City with this street food tour. Toti expertly guided us through the history and culture of food in CDMX. She is full of information and recommendations that will help shape the remainder of your trip. Do not eat before this tour because you need all the space you have to try all the different things!
Toti expertly guided us through the culture and history of street food in Mexico City and we enjoyed every minute of the tour. You definitely won't leave disappointed or hungry! I recommend this tour to everyone!
Fernando walked us through the food market and had amazing food items for us to try. He was very kind and chatty so kept our 11 yr old entertained. He was very knowledgeable and gave us a good understanding of the culinary scene and also day of the dead culture. Thank you for an amazing day!
Just got back to the USA following our trip to Mexico City and it’s a pleasure to share how great our experience was on this tour. Our guide was Adrian, and he was truly a joy to have around! His cooking background & industry expertise is fantastic and his culture/history knowledge was also spectacular. The food you will eat on this tour is absolutely amazing. I consider myself a fairly experienced eater and love anything from street food to fine dining. This street food we ate on this tour was likely better than the majority of Michelin dishes that I had at different times on the trip. We also ate some of the most fantastic fruits I’ve ever had! The only thing that was wrong with the experience is that I got so full I couldn’t even finish the food from our last couple stops :) that was my fault for not having a big enough appetite. Also a testament of how much great food you get as a part of this tour! If we go back to Mexico City, I’d absolutely do another tour through this group!
Enjoyed a relaxed and friendly walk and food experience around Mexico City. Started at 9.30 and finished at 12.30. We were taken to street food stalls and experienced around eight different foods / drinks . Our guide Clara was lovely and explained every style of food and gave some interesting insights into Mexican daily life culture. Clara kept the tour moving at a nice pace and she had an easy going style and impeccable English. She made the tour really good fun. Overall it was great. One recommendation would be to simplify the information on the pick up point. Just say it is by the HSBC bank next to the Angel statue/roundabout as that way there is no Uber confusion .
Excellent tour with Clara (which ended up being private!). Definitely bring an appetite as you'll be eating a lot of tacos! We had a chance to learn about Mexican food culture and shop in a local market. Definitely consider this tour if you're a foodie! Thank you!
We had an intimate tour with a culinary expert. We wouldn't have otherwise been able to navigate the crowded and complex maze of the market and taste some incredible food. We were so full by the end but this tour was truly a highlight. The explanation and cultural knowledge of our guide Yimnah was outstanding and she brought through the relationships she has with the vendors to give us the authentic experience.
Outstanding tour! The tastings were delicious, the information was educational, and the sights were fun. The boat ride at the end was a great way to end it. Toti and Clara were excellent tour guides!
Such a wonderful tour. My guide was Clara who was so warm & welcoming & so very passionate about Mexican food & culture. I learnt so much my head was overflowing with knowledge, which matched my belly that was overflowing with such amazing street food. Definitely bring your appetite as there is so much to eat & drink. Absolutely do not have breakfast if you do this tour in the morning. I’d highly recommend this tour for anyone new to Mexican food & culture. My guide Clara was an amazing & beautiful person who loves sharing her wonderful culture with others. Clara’s English is also amazing so don’t be concerned if you don’t speak or understand Spanish, Clara will do all the ordering in Spanish & provide a wonderful explanation in English. This tour is a must!
Had a wonderful tour with Clara. It was just me and my friend, so it was a private experience—and Clara was an excellent guide. She was lovely, kind, knowledgeable, and knew so much about Mexican culture and cuisine. We really enjoyed our time with her, and we loved all the stops that she took us on. The food was fabulous. My only suggestion would be perhaps to end the Tour on a sweet note, maybe with churros or some other sweet, delicious bite. I give this Tour a 9.5 out of 10. Also, on the date of our tour, the president of Mexico was giving a public address in the area of the Tour,. It felt like millions of people were in the area, but Clara had a plan to try and avoid some of the larger crowds to make our travels between the stops a little easier. That was great.
Ended up on a private street food your with Toti. She was amazing and spent 3 hours guiding us around the city, eating as we went. I would definitely suggest doing this tour near the beginning of your trip in mexico city so you can learn how to order street food and what to look for!
Incredible experience! Yimnah, our tour guide, worked as a chef for ten years prior to working as a tour guide and is so knowledgeable about food and Mexico City. My mother and I did this tour together. We are both vegetarian but Yimnah was so accommodating to our dietary restrictions that we still had the full experience. In addition to the tour, Yimnah took the time afterwards to give us an extensive recommendation list of activities and veggie restaurants to check out during our trip. Would definitely recommend!
The best tour! The food was amazing & Clara’s knowledge & enthusiasm made the afternoon a true delight. Couldn’t have found these spots in our own!
We were looking for a street food tour in Mexico City, and I stumbled onto the Eat Mexico site. I am sure glad we did. We had the very best tour with Yimnah. A formal chef. We tasted some of the very best food and all of the booths knew and respected Yimnah. I would highly recommend that you ask for Yimnah for your personal tour; you won't regret it.
This tour is all the reasons food tours are great! Clara, our guide, was kind, knowledgeable, interested in showing us things we wanted to see and genuinely excited about the food and culture. The food we ate was plentiful and tasty. Walking around Mexico City with a local is a great way to learn. I 100% recommend this tour!
The AMAZING and diverse tacos were only topped by Adrian’s knowledge of CDMX culture and history, culinary and otherwise. We left much smarter and with very full/happy stomachs. Highly recommend requesting Adrian!
We stayed safe and healthy. Only ate cooked food, no unpeeled fruit/veggies, no ice, bottled water. When looking for a place go where there are many people. Avoid places that are empty. Check to see that the person preparing the food isn't handling the money. If they are, are they wearing gloves.
Ariane was amazing! The tour was so educational, entertaining, and fun. We were introduced to many new foods and they customized the tour for our dietary restrictions. Cannot recommend enough.
Great tour! Guide was excellent, provided a very good introduction to street food in CDMX and also an understanding of the food culture of Mexico. Highly recommended!
