This tour was SO fun!! Delicious food and Andy was an amazing guide!!
Good intro to Mexico City and its food. 4.5 stars Highlights: - Carlo was energetic, knowledgeable, and efficient. He provided historical context as well and a local pov. Loved the stories of his grandma cooking mole. He also took any restrictions with ease. - Nice mix of salty and sweet stops. - Cool each savory stop also had a NA local beverage: from horchata to Jamaica agua Fresca to a lemonade. - Chilaquiles from Taqueria Jaquelin in the hidden "food court" up the stairs past several stalls were excellent. Crunchy chips, savory sauce, nice steak. One of my fave foods I ate on my very focused travel to eat Mexico City trip. - El Pastel was fun to peruse the huge variety of pastries and pick one. - Las Villas: Cactus taco (more like a quesadilla) was surprisingly good and something I wouldn't usually order. Also that stop was really about the salsa tasting with the 8 different ones which was super fun. - So sweet getting a tiny worry doll as a souvenir at the end from our guide. Midlights: - Messages told us to be there 15 minutes prior and to look for orange umbrella but guide didn't come til later so wasn't sure we were in the right place. - Seems like there was an alcohol package available I wasn't aware of but they only got 2 drinks so didn't miss out on much. Lowlights: - Appreciate the breaks in between spots and learning more about the city, but some were too long.
Andy was a fantastic guide, so knowledgeable, patient, and the food was great. One of our favorites was the secret! Would definitely recommend.
