Absolutely loved this class. The tour across the street was great. Marianna was a great teacher. We had a fun group from all over. The cooking was really hands on which made it super fun and the tacos at the end were some of the best I had in Mexico, which is saying something.

Everything about the class was fabulous! Our chef and tour guide, Pamela (Pame) was so warm, inviting and knowledgeable. Her love of food and Mexico shines through. We prepared 3 tacos, from making the salsa, to cooking the protein and hand making the tortillas. We had a small group so there was lots for everyone to do!
It’s hard to fully capture how special our experience at Aura Cocina Mexicana was. From the moment you arrive, the space impresses you with its beautiful décor and thoughtful attention to detail. The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, immediately making you feel at ease. We booked the experience that included a visit to the Coyoacán Market, and it exceeded all expectations. The market itself is vibrant and full of life, but exploring it with a knowledgeable guide made it even more meaningful. We enjoyed some of the most delicious quesadillas and fresh fruit before heading back to the kitchen. The cooking portion was the highlight—interactive, educational, and so much fun. We learned how to use chiles properly, prepare traditional sauces, work with meats and tortillas, and even make an incredible Jamaica margarita. Aura Cocina Mexicana is more than just a cooking class—it’s a full cultural and culinary experience. Thank you, Chef Lorena, for helping us create such wonderful memories. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting Mexico City and can’t wait to go back!
The Street Tacos Cooking Class at Aura Cocina Mexicana is an absolute must. From the moment we arrived, Chef Lorena made us feel completely at home. She is warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about sharing the traditions of Mexican cuisine. What makes this class special is her attention to detail—she doesn’t just show you how to cook, she explains the history, ingredients, and techniques that make authentic street tacos so special. The class was hands-on, fun, and incredibly delicious. We learned how to prepare different elements step by step, from fresh salsas to perfectly seasoned fillings, all while enjoying great conversation and a relaxed atmosphere. Lorena is not only a fantastic teacher but also a wonderful hostess who makes sure everyone feels included and confident in the kitchen. It was also the perfect place to celebrate a special moment—during our class we celebrated a birthday for one of our friends, and it made the experience even more memorable. Sharing laughs, cooking together, and enjoying the tacos we made turned it into such a joyful celebration. By the end, we were sitting together enjoying the tacos we prepared, which honestly tasted like something from the best taco stands in Mexico City. If you love Mexican food, cooking, or simply want a unique cultural experience while visiting Mexico City, this class is a highlight you shouldn’t miss. Highly recommend!
A worthwhile and fun experience! We had the opportunity to visit a local market, received great instruction from Chef Netzi, and enjoyed a hands-on experience in making tacos and salsa. The food was delicious, and the facility and staff was pleasant and welcoming.
Wonderful class and market tour. Highly recommend. Pame was an excellent guide and chef and made the experience very enjoyable.
This was a great experience. The instructor was lovely, and clearly had a passion for cooking. She was happy to answer all of my questions, and had great english! The experience itself included a short market tour, and making handmade tortillas, proteins and salsas for a delicious taco lunch. Well worth the money, in my opinion!
Mariana and Jazmin made the experience! The tacos were to die for. Looking forward to trying the recipes out at home. It was exactly what we hoped it would be. A perfect start to our Mexican holiday!
Review: I had the pleasure of joining Pame and her team for the tacos cooking experience, and it was truly outstanding. From the very beginning, they ensured everything ran smoothly and that we felt welcome and cared for throughout. The experience included preparing from scratch, three different types of tacos and paired salsa, to enjoy along with refreshing drinks. Beyond the cooking, we visited a nearby market where we learned about the local products used in the dishes, and then continued to a tortilla‑making place where we had the chance to taste freshly made tortillas and learn how strict the quality control is. The combination of hands‑on cooking, cultural immersion, and Pame’s warm hospitality made this experience unique. It was recommended to me by a friend, and I am so grateful he did. It has been one of the highlights of my time in Mexico.
This Mexican Street Tacos cooking class and market tour was an absolute gem of an experience! As a family with grown children, we were searching for an authentic culinary adventure, and this exceeded all expectations. The day began with an eye-opening market tour where we learned about essential street taco ingredients - from selecting the perfect chiles and tomatillos to understanding different cuts of meat. Our guide's knowledge of traditional Mexican ingredients and their passionate explanations made the market visit both educational and fascinating. The hands-on cooking portion was exceptional. We learned the art of making authentic corn tortillas by hand (much harder than it looks!), and mastered the techniques for preparing various street taco fillings. The highlights included: Making fresh salsas from scratch, Preparing marinades for different meats, Learning proper cooking techniques for al pastor, barbacoa, and other classic fillings, Understanding the importance of each garnish and accompaniment. The instructor created such a welcoming environment that it felt like cooking with family. They shared invaluable tips and tricks that you can only learn from someone with deep knowledge of street food traditions. The finale was enjoying our creations together - the most delicious and authentic street tacos we've ever tasted. This class gave us not just recipes, but real skills we can use to recreate these amazing tacos at home.
Incredible immersive and interactive culinary experience! A very special thanks to chef Pame who is incredibly knowledgeable about the taco culture and history here in Mexico. The experience is part field trip (tortillería and local mercado), part taco filling/salsa/tortilla making lessons, and best of all….eating our creations! Chef Pame and assistant Valentina are friendly and made sure to get to know each of us in our group of 5. Also included in the experience were photos taking by our paparazze Pame and recipes to recreate our tasty delights at home There are many culinary experiences from which to choose here in Mexico City. The Street Tacos Hands-On Cooking Class and Market Tour should be tops on your list.
Fantastic experience learning about food culture and how to make three types of Mexican tacos. Our chef and guide, Pame, was knowledgeable and personable, taking the time to get to know us and answer our questions. The group size was small, which made it fun to learn together. I would definitely recommend the experience!
If you're visiting Mexico City this should be the absolute first thing you do! I did the street taco cooking class and it was one of the highlights of my trip and something I’d recommend to everyone! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth that felt like a big hug. Lorena was an incredible host - kind, attentive, and genuinely passionate about sharing her love for the Mexican cuisine. She always made sure we were taken care of during the class and never had an empty glass of water or agua fresca! It didn’t feel like she was working at all, she was simply doing what she loves, and that energy was contagious. The market tour at the start was a really nice as we saw the ingredients and gave inspiration for other places I wanted to check out as Lorena was great at letting us know of the great spots around the area. As I was doing this cooking class on my last day in Mexico City I felt quite sad leaving Mexico City as I’d just gain so much inspiration. I was super impressed by how smoothly the class was run. Everyone had something to do and it all flowed super naturally. Despite coordinating everything, Lorena was very present and engaged. She took the time to ask thoughtful questions, which led to some conversations and you could tell that she really cared! This experience was a great introduction to Mexican culture and a clear reflection of how sweet and generous the people here are. If I had more time in Mexico City, I would have taken another cooking class! I feel confident trying the food we made in the class at home and was happy to get the recipes from the class. Definitely felt like the cooking class was worth my money and even more! Hope to see you again!
The Mexican Street Tacos class was a fantastic way to intimately about local produce, ways to replicate dishes at home, and a bit about Mexico City's food culture. Our guide Netzi was knowledgeable, patient, and led us to confidently prepare the dishes and salsas. The class can probably accommodate super novice cooks (they can do the simpler activities) but I think to get the most out of this experience it'll be best if you're semi-confident with a chef's knife. I'm excited to replicate these tacos and salsas at home, thanks Netzi!
So much fun on all levels. The education, the hands-on, the market tour, the warm hospitality -- my three young adults (age 13, 19, 21) said this was their top three favorite activity on this family trip. Home run!
A refreshment, a market tour, a cooking class. Really fun time. We’ll organized. Excellent teacher. Recommend doing this.
10/10 cooking class / fiesta, cannot recommend highly enough! Amazing experience, and real lesson on Mexican food, drink and history. Pame was sensational, it was a privilege to learn from somebody who truly loves what they do. I have been to a handful of cooking classes over the years, some at Michelin Star restaurants, and Pame was, by far, the most charismatic and passionate host.
Very nice and interesting experience. I learned a lot about Mexican food and how to prepare it. The market tour is very informative and the cooking is very well structured and hands-on. I had a great time with our great teacher and can only recommend this cooking class.
Exciting and excellent class. The facilitator/chef was very nice, great hospitality and unforgettable experience and delicious food and great recipes. Was a very fun 🤩 class. Would do it again and recommend to friends
This was one of the best cooking classes we’ve taken! I’ve taking almost 10 all around the world and it’s really good. Chef Lorena was so professional and knowledgeable. She showed us how to prepare 3 tacos and 3 salsas. The food was absolutely delicious and would not hesitate to do it again. Super fun! 10/10 would recommend.
Outstanding! Lorena is knowledgable and has a great passion for Mexican cuisine, so you know you're in good hands. I really enjoyed the market tour as well as the hands-on cooking.
Delisioso! The whole event was wonderful! Lorena was so sweet and patient, and knowledgeable! The trip to the market was fantastic and the cucina was charming and efficient. The food was excellent! This hands-on experience is a must do in Mexico City!
We did the street tacos class with Lorena and it was hands down the most fun we had anywhere in Mexico City! It was also the best meal we had! First we were fed delicious quesadillas and we learned a lot about Mexican cuisine. Then we went on a trip to see a tortilleria at work, visited a market and got to try out "exotic" to us foods, and then we returned to the class to learn how to make corn tortillas, three kinds of tacos, and three kinds of salsa. Delicious agua fresco, mezcal, beer, and wine were provided for us as well and they closed the class out by offering us tiny, delicious sweets and candies for dessert which was perfect since we were incredibly full by that point. Lorena was even kind enough to offer us some tips for making good flour tortillas since my husband has been struggling with that for a bit. I would take this class again and again. It was amazing! It's a must do activity and worth every penny! 😍🌮🇲🇽
Big recommendation! Pame was our chef and she was fantastic! Knowledgeable and charming. The food we made was delicious.
A welcoming, friendly and fun experience. The teacher was knowledgeable well organized and made sure everyone was included in all the hands on preparation. We created & enjoyed a delicious meal of delicious tacos, salsas, and tortillas that I will recreate at home! I highly recommend this class.
This was a fun and educational experience. The host was very friendly and welcoming. We especially enjoyed the market tour, which was a really nice addition and got to try even more food. We were a little disappointed that we didn't actually do more cooking -- at times it felt like more of a photo opp and that the employed chefs were doing the majority of the work. But I would guess that's to be expected on these sorts of one-time cooking classes (we have not done something like this before) and it does make it good for everyone, even those who are not super comfortable in the kitchen. The food was good, especially the al pastor, campechanos, and diablo salsa. The host seemed to want to make less spicy salsas which we were confused by. Host took a lot of photos, which was nice, but sometimes felt forced for example trying to get the perfect group photo too often. All in all, good experience! Just not totally what we expected. They feed you plenty of all sorts of fun things to try and also beer and mezcal.
This class was fantastic! Pame was so friendly and such a wonderful teacher. I learned many things on our market tour and then again in the cooking studio. The food we prepared was amazing and it was so much fun sharing it with the others in the class. I would highly recommend!
To say I liked it is an understatement, I LOVED it! This tour had everything. From tasting a local quesadilla stand, going to a market, learning everything about culture and food, to actually cooking and eating the delicious products we made! Those tacos were amazing! Thanks so much to Pame, the chef, for her dedication and knowledge, she made it even better! One of the best cooking classes I’ve taken while traveling.
This is so much more than a taco making class. Our teacher, Pame, is so passionate about Mexico, about cooking and about teaching. She really does cook with love. I really enjoyed the tour of the market and learning about indigenous Mexican food. The tacos we made were delicious. The one concern I have is that I won’t be able to replicate them at home.
Do you like tacos? Would you like to be able to make good tacos at home? Do you want to eat delicious food for several hours while learning something? Then sign up for this class! This class was fun, informative, and you get soooooo much food. Pamela did a great job leading the class. She not only taught us about Mexican cuisine, but she taught us some great tips for making the salsas and meat at home. She was also full of suggestions regarding places to eat in Mexico City. If it's any indicator, I plan to take another class with Aura Cocina next time I'm in Mexico City with free time. I'm also telling everyone I know to add this to their list of things to do in Mexico City.
The market tour was worth the price of admission alone. We have been back to the market several times since the class. Pamela was our teacher and guide. She was amazing! Spoke excellent English, was kind, funny, energetic and loves her work and her country. Can't wait to get home and tryout some of the recipes we learned about.
A great location and Lorena and her team made us feel very welcome. Her passion and love for Mexican food and heritage is remarkable. We met wonderful locals, visited a great market and learned a lot about the processing of authentic ingredients. The food we cooked was delicious and 100% worth the price! One of the highlights of our trip.
My 14-year-old daughter and I recently took the Mexican Street Tacos Hands-on Cooking Class and Market Tour and had a wonderful experience that went well beyond cooking. We visited an old-style market, tortilla shops, and a tamale street vendor. Graciela, our chef and instructor, taught us about various kinds of corn and chilies and even gave us samples of insects to taste. The entire experience was very well run and we came away with a better understanding of Mexican cooking and culture. I would highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Mexico City.
SO fun to be a tourist in your own city where you live. Graciela offered a wonderful class, and she was so warm and personable. The mercado tour was interesting, and I think I will miss these so much when we have to move (& of course the tacos). We toured a tortilleria and had some street quesadillas and tamales. YUM. The kitchen/class venue is absolutely stunning and charming Mexican decor. We enjoyed the recipes and the tacos were outstanding. I can't wait to recreate the tacos al pastor and the mango salsa. I will be back for another class with family or friends that are visiting CDMX.
I began this class not knowing even the basics of cooking but the teacher's wonderful teaching style had me feeling like a true chef by the time I left. Do not miss this class!
Much more than a cooking class! We showed up thinking we might not be eating until noon, since we'd have to cook first of course. Nope! After meeting Graciela at the kitchen, we left to head over to the market, but along the way made a few stops. First we met a woman making tortillas from scratch, and then we sat down at a street vendor for squash blossom and cheese quesadillas. That was already a nice bonus breakfast, but then we turned around and got a delicious strawberry tamale from a different vendor. Both people had been running their carts for decades, and the food was delicious! The market tour was fun, and Graciela taught us about every item's role not only in Mexican cuisine, but culture and history as well. We loved it all, and we even got to try a sampler of little worms, fried small crickets, and fried ants... sounds crazy but would definitely recommend trying, really was not weird and actually pretty tasty! When we did start cooking, Graciela continued to be a great teacher. Everything was completely hands-on, we made 3 different types of tacos with their own salsas too, the kitchen was beautiful with lots of light and glass, and there was even dessert! Maybe most importantly, Graciela is very friendly, and fun to hang out with. She put on music for us, we had beer and mezcal, and she took tons of photos for us! We left stuffed. Big thank you to Graciela and all the staff, everyone was great!
This is the most amazing cooking class, you feel like Graciela, a Mexican chef. All the ingredients are fresh from the Medellin market. I fully recommend this class. The class is hands-on and everyone helps to make the perfect meal. The class is with a Mexican chef and super easy to follow. She is so nice, and welcome. I really fell the quote ”Tu casa es mi casa” I will cook all of the dishes in my house. All the cooking process is super easy to follow and you can ask a question any time and understand perfectly.
Excelente!
A unique experience, I recommend it. We were mother, daughter and grandmother. The place was spectacular, everyone was super friendly, the human quality and the food was finger-licking good. We will go again. Highly recommended.
Absolutely great! You should definitely take a cooking class here if you are in Mexico City. We did the course by visiting the local market and were absolutely delighted. I'm sure we'll be back next time we get here. By the way, anyone who wants can also book courses online.
