Daniel was a great tour guide! He was super knowledgeable and fun to walk through the home with. And we got to meet Mr Ortega, the current caretaker and owner. Our tour was just shy of 2 hours and allowed for plenty of time to take in the breathtaking view and architecture.

We are late due to traffic, the tour guide was rude to us and doesn't allow us to go inside the house. Price too expensive.
Mauricio new a lot more details than I expected. Excellent for that. This is L B's first major work in CDMX. Great to see the genesis of his creative genius. Mauricio was attentive and patient with our questions. I recommend him highly for that. Glad I participated. I recommend this tour.
If you are interested in design and architecture, do not miss this tour. The home and gardens are not to be missed. Our tour guide, Juan Carlos was fantastic and so knowledgeable. It was great to meet the current home owner
The place was breathtaking and our guide was friendly and knowledgeable.
Isaac was very knowledgeable and friendly. Great tour guide!!! Would recommend his tour anytime - fascinating house to tour
Arturo is an amazing, knowledgeable tour guide who helped to bring the house to life. We would highly recommend!
Roman was amazing! Made the experience super worthwhile. He was very knowledgable on the house and offered great insight into the little details that would have otherwise gone unnoticed
Vale was a kind and friendly guide, and very knowledgeable. She showed me where to stand for the best views of the architecture, both within the Casa Ortega and in the gardens, and encouraged me to better understand the artist’s intentions through Socratic questioning. She even showed me how to take a better photo on my camera to better remember my favorite parts! I’ll definitely be booking another tour, 12/10!
Daniel communicated the day before the tour and was very informative on what to expect. Meeting was a breeze and I was the only one in the tour so it felt like a private tour. Daniel was very knowledgeable on Luis Barragan’s architecture design. I would recommend this tour.
The tour guided by Román is amazing. He has a deep knowledge of Barragán, the house and its history. He's extremely patient and kind. Will recommend it extensively.
The house is really nice and the tour guide is very detailed. It was really fun and knowledgeable if you’re into architecture.
Roman was kind and very informative. We enjoyed this hidden gem, the first house that Barragan built (not the last one which is more famous). There was some confusion about what tour we had booked, but fortunately we figured that out ahead of time. We were a small group so could really enjoy ourselves.
Daniel was an excellent tour guide and the Ortega house was unforgettable. Do yourself a favor a be immersed in the color of light of Louis Barragan’s hidden gem the Ortega House.
This is a great tour for anyone interested in the beautiful, colorful architecture of Luis Barragan. Casa Ortega was the first house he designed for himself, and it illustrates how he experimented with materials, indoor and outdoor spaces, and of course light and color. Our guide Daniel was deeply knowledgeable but also provided information in a way that was accessible and fascinating to those with an architectural background (me) and those without (my friend). The extensive and beautifully designed gardens were a surprising treat. Informative and enjoyable!
Maite led us through an insightful, revelatory tour of Casa Ortega. Must visit for those interested in the psychology and early architectural development of Luis Barragan. Serene garden experience+++
I went with my partner and it was amazing! Mauricio from Chilln’Go was so informative and helpful with the tour. We spent 1.5 hours walking around the house and the gardens.
Alex was great! Kind and knowable ! Gentle and well spoken. it’s was such a wonderful space to visit. Truly one of a kind.
If you visit the Luis Barragán House, do yourself a favor and book this tour. Our guide was wonderful, thorough, passionate, and consistently checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. His deep knowledge of the architecture and the story behind how this iconic home came to be at its location made our visit much more meaningful. We would never have appreciated the significance of the design details, especially Barragán's extraordinary use of color, without someone who understood them so well. Truly one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico City.
Maite did a terrific job providing a tour of Casa Ortega, Louis Barragan's first house, to myself and two other guests on a small tour this past week. The tour was informative, but also fun, engaging, and relaxed, a terrific vibe for which she helped set the tone. I wound up doing three Barragan houses during my stay in CDMX and this was my favorite, because of the architecture and the tour itself. Recommended.
Mauricio is a wonderful guide. He is well informed and sensitive to the groups interests and questions. His love for Barragan’s architecture is inspiring.
Full and broad description of the house itself, the gardens and their situation in the career and life of Luis Barragan.
Amazing tour! The house is absolutely delightful, the gardens are dreamy, and Mauricio's explanation was impeccable. Mauricio is the BEST! Highly recommended. Thanks!
Mauricio was a terrific guide whose knowledge of the house was thorough and engaging. The house itself is unique and inspiring.
We had a wonderful tour of Luis Barragán’s Casa Ortega conveniently tucked up in the Tacubaya area near Chapultepec Park. Our tour guide Mauricio was very knowledgable and had an obvious passion for the architecture which made the tour really special. We were guided through the house in a way that unlocked all its secrets, the use of color and exposure to the garden, and delightful details at every turn. Mauricio had a good sense of pacing and was responsive to our interests and questions which made the tour feel very personal. I highly recommend!
We had a great tour. Daniel, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the house and tour. Not only did he do a great job explaining the history of the house, he was sure to point out the best views and vistas. I would highly recommend this tour, especially with him as a guide.
We had a great tour of Casa Ortega. Daniel, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and passionate about the house. Not only did we learn a lot, but he pointed out many great views. It was excellent - I’m very glad we did it!
Fantastic. Marciello was so engaged with his subject. This is a not to be missed tour for anyone with an interest in in art and or architecture.
Daniel was very informative. We love the house and the whole experience.
This was a private tour of the first house that Luis Barragan designed for himself. Maite was an excellent guide providing a detailed history and context of the design. For Luis Barragan fans, this tour is a must as the house and garden are the transition point to his later work.
Alex was quite a good guide, and the house is very interesting — certainly worth it, if you have already seen Mexico City’s major tourist sites. PLEASE BE AWARE that this is not the main Barragan house, but rather was his prior home where he did a lot of experimenting. The magnum opus Barragan house is a few doors down the street. Most people want to see the other house, and I was able to get in later in the afternoon after doing the Viator tour. I would also say that $100+ for this hour and 15 min tour is pricey, IMO.
It was like stepping into a time capsule of a house- didn't realize it was a privately-owned home! An architect's dream. Tour itself was shorter than billed- about an hour, but still worth it.
Awesome tour with a very knowledgeable guide (Mauricio). The house itself is fascinating but I got so much more from the visit thanks to Mauricio. I learnt a lot about Luis Barragan, the Casa Ortega and the history of the house and noticed things I would not have seen without his expert guidance. 100% recommend.
Daniel was a fantastic guide—extremely knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely engaged in the subject throughout the entire experience. He explained everything clearly, answered questions thoughtfully, and made the tour both informative and enjoyable. You could really tell he was passionate about what he does. Highly recommend!
Casa Ortega is well worth the time of anyone interested in design and architecture, and Daniel was a wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly guide.
Our guide Daniel with Chill N’ Go gave us a fantastic tour of Casa Ortega! Daniel’s deep knowledge and appreciation of Barragan’s work was evident throughout the tour - he provided (in perfect English) insightful commentary behind the intention and design of every room in the house and every space in the garden. Our guide truly helped elevate the experience of exploring Casa Ortega above simple observation; he revealed the magic of Barragan’s design. Because our party was the only one with Daniel, and we did not encounter any other groups during the tour (except at the very end as we were leaving), it was as if we were given a private tour. The current owner of Casa Ortega (a descendant of the original owner and an architect himself) even briefly met with us in his studio. Don’t look at any other tours of Casa Ortega, just book this one!
It was great. My guide Maite was very good.. She told everything slowly and in a very understandable way. She enjoyed telling and showing around. Thanks a lot🙏🌸
Our guide Alex was fantastic! So knowledgeable and sweet. We got to meet the architect who lives there now and protects the legacy. Also a warm and lovely man. Both spoke perfect English. My husband and I toured two other Barragan houses. and Casa Ortega was our favorite by far. That was mostly because of Alex and the time that he was able to devote to explaining the house, its innovations, Barragan's many influences and contributions. Only sad that we don't have time in MCDX to take another tour with Chill and Go. Highly recommend!!!
The quality of this experience was A+++++Alex was a phenomenal tour guide. Very knowledgeable. Provided historical content of Luis Baragan architecture.
We met our guide Isaac outside Casa Ortega at Gral. Francisco Ramirez 22 and immediately knew this was going to be a great experience. Issac’s love and passion for all things Barragán was contagious. The house is currently owned and occupied by a Mexican architect who has preserved Barragán’s legacy. The house is an amalgamation of traditional Mexican and Mid Century Modern architecture. We did not know what to expect but were delighted by the use of wood in panels, and large pieces of furniture through the house, along side ceiling wood beams that seem to float in the space. The play between light and darkness accentuated the straight lines of the stucco fireplaces that seen to want to break through the ceiling. Metal framed windows and two feet thick stone walls created a tranquil atmosphere. Even more beautiful were the gardens, with beautiful trees and several spaces to just be. If you come to Mexico City be sure to visit this gem. Thank you Hector, Robert & Rosemary
