Julieta made the class easy to follow. It was very interactive and we learned how to prepare several dishes plus we got to eat everything afterwards. We loved all the food and we look forward to preparing the dishes when we get home!

Itinerary
In this hands-on cooking class, you’ll learn the basic techniques that Mexicans grow up mastering at home: How to make a basic green salsa, how to use fresh and dried chiles, how to handle corn masa and shape it with your hands, and how to cook nopales, among others. This is not just about teaching you recipes, it is about empowering you to feel confident about sharing the flavors of a world-honored culinary tradition, while having fun in a relaxed environment. Step inside a professional working kitchen in the Narvarte neighborhood. Chef Ariane and her husband Said, a barista, own this specialty coffee shop. They have earned national recognition for their bread-making in 2024 and 2026. During business hours, they serve coffee, cocktails, baked goods, and savory dishes. In the same kitchen, she also teaches Mexican food classes to promote our cuisine and culture through an experience of flavors and ingredients.

Enjoyable and easy to follow cooking experience with chef Julieta and assistant Madeleine. Loved the fresh ingredients, variety and of course, the taste. Looking forward to try the recipes at home
This was a very well run class, and I've done many all over. We prepped everything, and did most of the cooking. She did not supply beer etc. but was fine if we brought our own. A wonderful evening out. Thank you
An absolute highlight of our trip! The food was phenomenal, the class was hands-on and engaging, and the chef was incredibile, knowledgeable and welcoming. We even had a private experience, which made it extra special. As a vegetarian, I loved that they catered for me so I could try everything. Highly recommend don’t miss this in Mexico!
We had a great cooking experience learning traditional Mexican dishes and techniques to create a delicious multi course feast. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly . We highly recommend this cooking experience for anyone who would like to learn to cook traditional Mexican meals.
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience cooking! We learned so much that we will take with us in our kitchen back home. What an enjoyable evening from beginning to end. Julieta is the absolute best.
I cannot recommend this more highly! Julieta planned the perfect meal and we cooked everything with her guidance. It was like cooking and talking with an old friend. The dinner was fantastic and just eating together was fun. If you want to learn a truly personal side of Mexico, this is a perfect opportunity.
Julieta taught us how to prepare a super dinner of Mexican food in a spacious area, with all the kitchen tools we needed. Julieta’s assistant, Madeleine, did a great job of keeping the kitchen area organized. Very fresh ingredients were given to us to use as well as extensive instructions and demonstrations on how to prepare the food. At the end, we all enjoyed our meal, but sadly couldn’t take any leftovers with us as we were staying in a hotel.
This cooking class was truly one of the highlights of our time in Mexico City. From start to finish, everything was incredibly well organised, clear communication, perfect timing, and a seamless flow that made the entire experience feel effortless and enjoyable. Julieta was amazing, knowledgeable, passionate, and very engaging, with clear explanations and great energy throughout. We learned so much and the food we made was delicious. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Mexico City!
Perfect way to spend an evening with my Mom! The class was very hands on and approachable. We learned a lot of practical recipes for “home cooking” and are already thinking about making the nopales salad at home. We left full and happy!
Absolutely amazing experience. Great food, great chef, and great company! Would absolutely recommend to a friend or anyone looking for a cooking experience.
The class was fantastic! Especially for large groups. I love going to cooking classes whenever I travel - I have to say this one was one of my favorites. We learned about local ingredients and made an amazing meal. I would recommend to anyone visiting Mexico City!
Wonderful time! Learned many new things and anxious to try my new recipes back home! Would definitely recommend to friends in the future.
This cooking class was exactly what my wife and I were looking to experience during our trip to Mexico City. The host was an excellent teacher. Every aspect was well planned out, and created a perfect environment for beginner and intermediate cooks alike. I was very impressed with how the collection of relatively simple ingredients came together to create such a flavorful meal. The host was also very friendly, and a joy to work alongside. She did a fantastic job of explaining the importance of each ingredient to the meal, as well as the culinary and historical significance of what we were preparing. Her direction created a seamless work flow, and before I knew it, we were enjoying a delicious, full course meal. I highly recommend this experience, and will absolutely be implementing what I have learned into my meals at home. Thank you chef!
It was fantastic! Instructor was lovely, she was warm and engaging. The food we cooked was fun and delicious! I especially appreciated the changes she made for the 2 vegetarians in our group. An experience not to be missed!!!!
We really enjoyed the cooking experience with Julieta! We cooked a variety of salsas and home style foods that gave us an authentic impression of Mexican culture. It was nice having a cooking class all to ourselves. Her English and instruction and cooking skills were fantastic.
The cooking class experience was wonderful. It was so much fun-Chef Julieta Carrion was professional, very engaging and friendly.
We had a great time making delicious food. The recipes were divided up so we all got to be active making things and learning both new recipes (how to cook cactus so it was nice, roasted poplano peppers with crema and corn, how to make sopes), great chicken tinga, and improving on old faves like salsa verde. Everything was delicious, and the host and her sister were super friendly. Was exactly what we wanted as an experience.
This cooking class was our family's favorite experience out of our entire trip to Mexico City. Julieta was incredibly friendly and easy-going. She engages with our children and made it so much fun learning to cook a variety of Mexican dishes. The food we ate was the best we had in our entire trip in Mexico City. We ate until we were stuffed. I highly recommend this class and can't wait to take another cooking class from Julieta the next time we come to Mexico City.
We presented Juli with a problem at the start. When we arrived my friend, who had a bit of a stomach bug, could not face cooking and sat out through the evening. However, Juli wasn't put out at all and I managed, with a bit of assistance, to cook 7 typical dishes plus enough blue maize tortillas for a meal for two. I have a much clearer idea of the strength of chiles, how to make much more tasty and interesting guacamole etc. I particularly interested in knowing how to use nopales in salad. I doubt I will be able to get prepared and edible "pads" from prickly pears in England but I might try to find some next time I am in London. It was very hands on and practical and an excellent and enjoyable practical introduction to Mexican cooking.
Julieta was a lovely charming hostess and instructor. Very patient with "first time" chefs. A very enjoyable evening I highly recommend the experience.
Not only did Julieta give us her own personal insights into her culture but showed us first hand authentic Mexican dishes. We were not new to the cooking class concept and it still exceeded our expectations. I believe this is a must-do if you are visiting the area. I am excited to continue talking to Julieta about ur her future endeavors and wish her the best!
Julieta and her sister assisted us with absolutely delicious and authentic Mexican dinner. She was very entertaining and informative as we cooked and finally enjoyed our meal. Gracias, Julieta.
It was a great experience! The Chef was very talented and patience. They taught us step by step to make tacos and delicious salads & salsas.
Amazing! I have done different cooking classes but this was by far my favorite! The recipes were simple and delicious. I will be able to easily recreate them at home and look forward to doing so soon. 10 out of 10, I fully recommend.
This was a wonderful experience. Julieta and Toni were fun to work with and made us feel right at home. They are incredibly organized and professional, got us cooking right away and from the start we were busy talking and learning. I have tried making various Mexican salsas before and never been satisfied with the way they turned out. With 4 simple ingredients Julieta showed us how to make the freshest, most delicious salsa verde and then she told us how to easily make variations on this theme. We made chicken tinga, tasting this sauce at several stages during the cooking process to learn how the flavor changes. I feel confident I can easily and quickly make this sauce and use it with both meats and vegetables. Another favorite and eye-opening dish was learning to make nopale salad using Julieta’s preferred technique. Along with cooking we learned a lot about Mexican street food, how to pick the best vendors and more. The skills we learned in this class will be put to use often in our home kitchen. Highly recommended.
The food was amazing. Everything was so easy and the recipes were very clear. Julieta was so knowledgeable and a great instructor.
Juliet’s was AMAZING!!! She was friendly, kind and patient. She got all 6 of us involved in the cooking. She taught us so much and the food was fantastic!!! She was an accommodating with our vegetarians. Everyone she do a class with her! Highly recommend her!
AMAZING CLASS! The highlight of our trip!! Julieta was a wonderful instructor, she shared stories, gave us information on the foods of Mexico and had all 6 of us cooking, laughing and enjoying a tremendous meal. She was accommodating with our vegetarians. It was an all around fantastic evening!!!!
Juliet’s was amazing! She provided a really fun, educational, and delicious experience. The food was incredible. She makes excellent brownies as well! We had a great experience. Highly recommend.
We had an incredible experience with Julieta! We started off by making salsa verde, and then onto guacamole, sopes, chicken tinga and rajas con crema 😋 She was a wonderful guide, explaining the cultural context, steps and moving us through the different dishes. The three hours flew by, and it was a delicious introduction to Mexican cuisine. I'd recommend this class for beginners especially, since the steps were easy to follow and Julieta is a patient and thorough guide!
Julieta’s class is AMAZING! My husband and I were the only ones. We made lemonade, salsa verde, guacamole, nopales salad, rajas con crema, chicken tinga, and sopes. It was so much food and so delicious. She guides you easily through the process and is so patient. She has great music taste and a very friendly personality. Her English is fantastic! We went home with full bellies and full hearts. We cannot recommend this activity enough!!
A highlight of my 4 days in Mexico City. Julieta was extremely knowledgeable, and so kind and very fun. She provided a wonderful evening with outstanding food for the 3 of us. I would highly recommend a night with Eat Mexico -especially Julieta! She even shared her recipes with us in English. Definitely a 5 star event!
We loved our cooking class with Julieta! She is such an experienced chef (has worked in Argentina, France, USA and of course, Mexico) and we got lots of “pro chef tips” which were fab. She speaks fluent English and had no trouble understanding my Irish accent! We made 7 different things; the food was SO good. We will definitely try to replicate the recipes at home! Thank you Julieta!
Julia was great super friendly and speaks perfect English. I give her a 4 starts is just because the experience seem very unorganized.
Julieta was fantastic, teaching my wife and me to make green and red salsas and seven dishes including chicken tinga, chorizo and papas, nopales salad, guacamole, sopas, frijoles negros, chilaquiles and lemonade. Enough to feed six well! Everything was ready to go, including recipes (en Español). Julieta is friendly and engaging and speaks great English. A super fun experience!
We originally wanted to do a tortilla making course but it was not being run at this time. The Learn How to Cook Mexican Food course was recommended. My partner and I attended Julieta's class and we do not regret it! Julieta's knowledge was excellent. It was very hands-on and Julieta had amazing knowledge of the ingredients, the history of dishes and Mexico itself. We learned a lot about the ingredients. What was really valuable was that all of the recipes are ones that we can make at home . The ingredients are ones that we can get in Australia. I have done cooking classes over time and there are many occasions where they are not dishes that you could easily make at home or include ingredients that no normal household could get. Finally, Julieta is a delight and it was a pleasure doing a class with her in her working kitchen. I would totally recommend doing this class. The three hours flew by!
My wife and I attended Julieta's class after finding out about it through Facebook. Needless to say, it was one of the best ways we could have spent our Friday night! Julieta, the host/chef, is amazing, and the recipes were so good. I highly recommend!
Very good cook workshop! The workshop is in a small but professional kitchen with al the necessary equipment. I really enjoyed the knowledge of Julieta. You get to know al the ingredients that Mexican families use at home. You cook everything bye yourself so nothing is prepared in advanced which made the workshop even more interesting. And in the end you enjoy all the food you just made!
Excellent class, excellent explanation, everything was delicious and with the best hosts. We made 7 delicious dishes!!
