Omar was very nice and patient with us. He took frequent breaks and that was very helpful for us adjusting to the elevation and altitude. He was also very easy going along the hike and helped take great photos of us! One thing to note is the experience says they include water, but that was not the case. Definitely bring your own water, food, and snacks! It was such a unique hike through various terrain (mud, caves, forest, rocks, climbing a ladder). Highly recommend!

Tour guide, he was really nice and sweet also offered us for a lot of fun activities! I wanted to do kind of unpopular at hidden gem place. It was right great tour! I’d love to book any activity with samw tour guide more!!!
Omar is a fantastic, friendly tour guide. I highly recommend this tour! The nature was a nice respite from the city and he provided the necessary equipment
Omar is a knowledgeable and friendly guide who will share his expertise in the city, geology, and ecology, and if you’re lucky he’ll show you his favorite reggaeton songs on the way back. Transportation was seamless and the hike was just the right amount of challenging. Altitude is no joke, so pace yourself. Your feet will get wet towards the end, so take his advice and bring a change of shoes and socks. Highly recommend!
This hike was such a great experience start to finish. I was a little nervous going into it as a solo female traveler going hiking in Mexico for the first time, but rest assured this experience is so safe, so well planned, and so fun! A bit strenuous with the initial ascend, but the views are incredible and the lush greenery is such a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city. Omar is a geologist who knows so much about the area and gives a lot of fun facts about the city’s environment, geology (of course) and history. I love that he pointed out so many mushrooms and distinguished the poisonous from the non! The ladder portion was my favorite - it looks intimidating at first, but it’s easy once you figure it out and is such a unique experience. Highly recommend!! Wear good shoes too, especially in the rainy season!
I had an amazing time on this hiking tour with Omar, he’s a fantastic guide. Since he’s local to the area, he has a real connection to the community and shared great insight throughout the experience. The hike itself was about 3.5 hours long. I joined a group with two other young couples, and the group size felt really comfortable. Overall, it’s a relatively easy hike, though the elevation can definitely be felt at times. Transportation is included. Just make sure to bring your own water and snacks. I’d also recommend packing a lunch, since there’s time to relax and eat at the top near Heaven’s Gate. One helpful tip: bring some pesos for the bathrooms before and after the hike, about 10 pesos each. Omar built in plenty of short breaks so everyone could catch their breath, and he also made time for photos at the scenic viewpoints along the way. The tour was also very LGBTQIA+ friendly, which made me feel especially comfortable. Overall, this is a highlight of my trip.
The Adventure starts early at 8am at a convenient spot near Roma Norte where you meet your super-guide Omar. From there our group of 4 loaded into Omars vehicle and headed to the mountains which are about 40min. away. Even though you are technically in CDMX, it is a whole different world. Upon arrival Omar provided us with backpacks containing a helmet, safety harness and water and explained in detail how to properly use the safety equipment. The trail is quite steep and rocky with an area which requires you to climb a long steel ladder up a cliff. Omar is watching your every step to make sure there is no danger to your safety. The climb reveals several breath taking view points at which we stopped to eat lunch (bring your own food and snacks) from there we descended down a different trail where we ran into cows randomly grazing in the forest and a beautiful river with stunning waterfalls. The hike is a few hours long depending on the groups pace and is a great workout and exciting experience for those who are feeling adventurous but don’t have time to climb an entire volcano. I highly recommend this tour!!!
Omar was incredibly polite and fun. We had a lot of fun and the views were great. At the end we had some great food too. We want to comeback again!
Omar is a brilliant guide. Very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist. He kindly took me on the hike with pick up/drop off from cdmx even though i was the only person booked on the hike. The hike itself is very varied with lots of different elements (ladder climbing, cave exploring and river crossing). Skill level needed is intermediate with small parts that are more challenging due to the altitude but Omar is aware of this and has planned short breaks throughout the trek. Would definitely recommend as a great way to spend the first part of your day and as an escape from the business of the city.
This experience was amazing. The hike was beautiful and the guide friendly and knowledgeable. He did a great job of making sure I was safe. This hike is definitely intermediate. Make sure to wear appropriate clothing and footwear! Would do agian and would highly recommend.
Pick up from the fountain was smooth. It is about a 45 minute drive to the beginning of the trail. The trail was challenging in the beginning, but rewarding. The ladder and viewpoints were amazing. The guide, Omar, was amazing, kind, and funny. This was my second hike in Mexico City and this was the best.
Omar is really great! Although I was the only one who signed up, we still went and I really enjoyed it. Omar is really kind and you can see he really enjoys this part of Mexico. The perfect hike if you want a nice view and be back at lunch!
The hike included stopping at two beautiful viewing points, walking through a cave, and stopping at a small stream and waterfall. There is a ladder where you use climbing equipment and go up about 100 feet. The viewpoints are breathtaking and going up the ladder is also very exciting. Omar was my tour guide and was very conversational and also stopped at a nice local spot to pick up lunch for the hike. He was also very good with going at a pace that works for you, guiding the use of climbing equipment, and taking pictures for you. Highly recommend!
Best guide you could ask for! He was very accommodating and knowledgeable- he has a background in geology. We had a lot of fun, learnt a lot about the geology of Mexico, and enjoyed the natural environment. Though the track was initially very steep, we took ample breaks so it wasn’t very hard.
The hike was more strenuous than advertised. Although we set the record for being our guide’s oldest customers, we are experienced hikers from Colorado and found the hike to be quite challenging.
This experience was wonderful and I'm grateful to Omar for the expert guided hike experience. The meet up was easy to find (just sit by the MXCD sign), and the drive out didn't have too bad of traffic. The hike was tough, but I think I was the least experienced of the tour group and I had a bad cold at the time. The ladder was such a unique experience! The safety guidelines helped even the most nervous among us feel comfortable. I appreciated the small size of the group so we all got to know each other. The views were stunning throughout with lots of great photos and memories made. 10/10!
This is a short, straight up hike to a series of overlooks to the valley you just left. I am a pretty experienced hiker, and due to the slippery trail (scree, and dirt), altitudes I rarely visit, and not to mention the ladder, I found the hike challenging. The views are worth it, and Omar was a great guide. He stopped often, and made sure we were prepared. The way back down includes a hike along the river which was a lovely surprise.
Omar was the perfect guide and we enjoyed the hike so much. We felt very safe with him the whole time and he was very friendly and patient with the group. Loved the conversations and the beauty of the nature. Omar even stopped at a local street vendor so we could get a tamal before the hike because we didn’t come prepared (sorry Omar!) but we’re not really sorry because it was the best tamales we’ve ever had 🤤 Highly recommend this hike and Omar 👍👍
Great half day hike 😊 I had a great time together with the guide. We walked to two view points, overlooking the forest and the city.
Saw some amazing views and parts of the forrest, it was a great experience and well worth the hike! Omar was a great guide and had a tonne of knowledge about the area!
Omar our guide was more than amazing!!! This is a once in a lifetime experience that was 1000 percent WORTH IT!!!! I loved every minute of it, the hike was worth it and my favorite part was the ladder! Getting to see the waterfall was also amazing. So surreal, please check it out! Again, thank you Omar for such a wonderful and safe experience we hope to be back soon to visit!!
Excellent hike, it was quite challenging but the tour guide Omar was extremely knowledgeable and very kind. He knew a lot about the area and made the hike very fun. I would 100% recommend this for anyone visiting Mexico City! I’ve never seen views like this in my entire life!
Getting to see the top of the mountain was the biggest highlight. Though the hike can be tiring, it is a great experience. Also the ladder might look scary, but is actually quite thrilling.
An experience worth living at least once in a lifetime, the views are amazing for me a dream, excellent to connect with nature, and the guide Omar an excellent person recommended 100%
