The tour guide is very knowledgeable, she takes you to Mexican revolution time while showing you murals, artifacts and buildings related to that period.

Chris was Amazing! knowlege, clarity of explanation, personal, flexible, we had a fantastic personal tour. wished we had done this day one! thank you Chris.
Our guide Daniel was very accommodating. There were several challenges—limited access to the Palacio Nacional, and our elderly pace for another. Daniel was very kind, and adjusted the tour to make the best possible tour for us. Thanks again, Daniel!
Poor communication with the operator. Not correct meeting point in the booking and no response through the application. No refund provided, not even a partial refund.
Our tour with Mariel was outstanding. She was warm and engaging and her explanations struck the perfect balance between being highly informative and yet accessible to a novice. She incorporated her experiences and insights as a resident and this provided immediacy and context to the presentation. A great way to start our week in Mexico City.
It was our first day in Mexico City, and this city exceeded our expectations - even more beautiful and fabulous than we expected. We started our first day with a city tour. Our guide Chris was very knowledgeable and gave us key facts on all the historical sites and of course, took photos of our trio. He answered all our questions and gave us a tour of his city. We were so happy with everything we learned. At the end of tour, we were waiting for our Uber and our driver was trying to scam us with additional fares - Chris remained with us until we were safe and on our way back to hotel - he really went out of his way to ensure our safety. This made the tour even more impactful. Thank you Chris for organizing us.
I could not find our tour guide. I tried to call the number listed, but it was disconnected. I tried texting, using WhatsApp, and messaging through the Viator portal. We finally gave up after an hour.
After getting off to a late start due to unforeseen circumstances, we ended up having an excellent tour of the historical area downtown Mexico City. Daniel was a great guide.
This was our first time using Withlocals and we went into it with high hopes...the experience far exceeded our expectations! Our family of four (including an 18-year old and a 12-year old) can be a tough crowd at times. We have very different interests and the idea of trudging around for nearly 3 hours can be daunting. I was half-expecting somebody in the family would be miserable and want to pull the plug early, but that's not what happened at all. From the moment we met Victor, he had all of us fully engaged. He's such a nice and personable guy, you can't help but like him. He is so incredibly knowledgeable. In addition to a the very detailed and standard tour stuff, he was able to answer all of the random questions we through his way. And the moment he happened to bring up anime, he had our kids eating out of the palm of his hand. Our kids don't typically get excited about museums, history, dates, etc. But Victor's approach was so interesting and entertaining, he kept them engaged the entire time...listening intently and asking questions. It was such a joy for us as parents to see them taking it all in and enjoying the experience. They got so much out of it, we all got so much out of it! I don't think we could get the same benefit any other way. The only downside was having to say goodbye to Victor again. Obviously, I can't recommend Victor and this tour strongly enough. Our experience with the Whitlocal platform was easy enough and we will definitely look to use it again every time we travel.
Our guided tour was the perfect introduction to Mexico City. We chose to do it on our first full day post-arrival, and it grounded our experiences. I strongly recommend this experience!
Al was an excellent tour guide. Tailored the tour to my taste. Great command of English. Very interactive with lots of interesting info and good conversation. If I could give him 10 stars I would !
Mariel provided a very interesting and personalized Centro Historico tour for us. She is well informed about Mexican history and culture, and she shared stories that gave us new insights into Mexico and Mexico's people. I highly recommend Mariel as a Mexico City tour guide.
We spent a wonderful afternoon with Victor. He presented a very knowledgeable overview of Mexican history, answered all our questions, and was excellent company. He was also very sensitive to our level of fatigue and chose wonderful and intriguing resting spots. Thank you Victor!
Hilary was the perfect tour guide for our introduction to Mexico City. She is knowledgeable about all aspects of Mexican history and culture and she makes it all very approachable and most importantly of all….fun! The afternoon flew by. We recommend her very very highly.
I booked the guided tour with Mabel with 6 girlfriends for our first trip to CDMX and we all loved the experience. Mabel is a true expert and has so much passion and information to share we felt like we learned SO much in a short period of time and got to see the things that spoke to us the most. Mabel also went above and beyond and helped us out with other recommendations to really make the most of our trip. She's wonderful! :)
While I was regrettably ill for the tour myself (though I had been the one to book it), my wife and friends had nothing but good things to say about HIlary. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. The tour apparently covered both the big sights as well as a slew of 'hidden gems' that they would never have thought to see.
Al gave us a great walking tour of Centro Historico, with lots of fascinating historical and cultural insights. It was just my wife and I on the tour, so we were able to go at our own pace and felt free to ask questions. He even guided us on the bus to direct us to one of his favourite restaurants, then provided directions for us to safely walk home. Oh, and he gave us a list of restaurants to check out. Definitely recommended!
Would highly recommend to anyone! Mabel was an outstanding guide and host for our walking tour through the sights of the Reforma neighborhood. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience, learning a great deal, filled with rich cultural and historical facts, and excellent recommendations for food and further interesting sights to look into (and Mabel's recommendations were outstanding, confirmed by our visits!). Thanks for a wonderful overall experience, Mabel!
My husband and I had high hopes for this tour based on the reviews. Our guide was very nice but also a bit scattered. We didn’t have clear direction on what we were doing or where we going. I will say, I loved going to the subway and also the panaderia. Not sure if I would recommend this to others.
Daniel was a great (and flexible) tour guide. We had 2 small kids with us (8 & 5 years old) who needed frequent breaks. He had no problem changing plans by ending some place early or finding a snack for a break. In fact, we had many snacks that we loved! We wouldn't have learned nearly as much if we had been exploring by ourselves, so I really appreciated Daniel's patience and his friendly style!
Very informative. Daniel was an engaging guide who introduced his country with love and pride. We learned so much about architecture and history.
Our private tour with Al was delightful. We saw places we would have never known about on our own. His knowledge of the area and history is extensive. Al is pleasant, professional and above all a great guide. We’d highly recommend tour with Al if you are visiting Mexico City.
My tour guide was 15 min late and I couldn’t understand what he was talking about half the time. Mind you, it was just me and him so it was essentially a private tour.
Overall the tour was good. We visited some interesting places that normal tourists may not go. However, the guide did not speak English well. It would help if you know a bit about Mexico history and Spanish before you join this tour to enjoy.
Nalleli was a wonderful guide who presented the history of Mexico through an artist’s eye. We learned so much during our tour with her!
Mariel was an absolute delight! Her vast knowledge is unparalleled and her passion for the history of Mexico City is just as great. The time flew by and I left with a much greater understanding of CDMX and it’s people!!
Very good tour! Victor was our guide and he was friendly, informative and easy going. Great way to explore downtown area.
Yvan was great. He was very knowledgeable on Mexican history and the revolution and Aztec history. Saw all the great historical buildings and sights. Was very fun day.
Mariel was an incredibly knowledgeable and informative guide. Being able to walk through the historical center of Mexico City with Mariel and learn things we would not have know visiting these places ourselves made this so much more enriching. The ever present slants of streets and buildings truly show the past catching up to the city. Seeing the lobbies of these incredible buildings and bustling streets while ending at Constitution Plaza where there is even more history to dig into was the perfect route for our journey. I do not want to say any more about this amazing guide and our trek to spoil any of the gems we got to see and explore. Just know this was a perfect introduction to our historical visit.
We had such a lovely time with Mariel, we cannot recommend her enough. She was so informative and so kind, we really enjoyed the entire tour. I loved the pacing of the tour as well as all the historical context she provided for the area. She did an incredible job of informing us about different historical figures but giving the entire context around their time period so as to not paint a picture in one way or another. She also gave us an excellent taco rec that ended up being my favorite meal of my trip. Extremely worth the time and value.
My boyfriend and I enjoyed an incredible tour with Mariel. She was extremely knowledgeable about all things Mexican history, and really brought to life the events that shaped present-day CDMX. She took us to interesting and beautiful locations, recounting engaging stories about all of them. She was very friendly and easy to get along with. The basket taco was a particularly fun addition to the tour. Mariel was a fantastic guide. I would highly recommend a tour with her!
We loved meeting Juan Miguel and our time with him. It was our first time visiting Mexico City and Mexico, and he was the first person we met on our first day there - a great start!:) He showed us around all the main points in the historic center, told us some really interesting details (which you'll have to book him for if you want to know, too) and took us to his favorite street food place which we promptly visited again the next day - bc it's that good! Best of all, we shared some authentic conversations and great laughs! Thank you for contributing to our love of your native Mexico City, Juan Miguel - let us know if you are visiting NYC!
We loved our "Highlights & Hidden Gems of Mexico City" tour with Mariel. She was full of incredible insights and knowledge about all things Mexico and Mexico City. The pace of the tour was excellent and we left feeling more knowledgeable and connected to the city we were visiting. Highly recommended!
I thoroughly enjoyed this experience with Tour Guide Daniel. He was extremely passionate and knowledgeable about his country's history . I really enjoyed walking through restaurants that were once convents from the 1500s. And learning about the founding of Mexico.
Daniel's knowledge of Mexico City is obvious and his love for Mexico is contagious! My daughter and I had a great day touring the center of Mexico City with Daniel. We visited many spots we expected like the Palicio de Bellas Artes and Templo Mayor but also some not well known to tourist areas like Cafe de Tacuba and the Spanish Casino among others. I highly recommend a tour with Daniel! He is easy to talk to, willing to answer all questions and has a sense to know how to take the tour at your pace.
Alberto was an awesome host, great guide, pacing was perfect and we saw the places we wanted to explore longer post tour. Alberto took us to his favorite places which were gems. We learned a lot about history and current life in CDMX from a true local. Tacos, I hope Alberto takes you to the spots we stopped at, so so good. I may not be able to eat tacos at home again. Muchas Gracias mi amigo. Hasta Pronto, vale!
We really enjoyed our time with Mariel. She was incredibly knowledgeable and our tour gave us a great foundation to start our week in CDMX. She taught us all about Mexican history, including some of the lesser known parts.
Al was an incredible guide. Meeting up with him felt like meeting up with a friend who was eager to show you around his home town. We toured the historic center of Mexico, taking in architecture, museums, and ruins and stopped for tacos-twice! Al was maximally flexible and responsive to what we wanted to do, but more than anything he was super knowledgeable! Cannot recommend spending a few hour with Al enough. He is clearly passionate about everything Mexico City has to offer, and was a pleasure to spend time with!
Our tour with Al was fantastic! Al is very knowlegeable, and familiar with the history and architecture of the area. Being from CDMX and having a passion for history and art makes him a great guide for this tour. Al is very friendly and accommodating. His personal touch on his favorite places worth seeing was interesting and he chose stunning places to see. I would highly recommend booking a tour with AL for anyone coming to CDMX wether they've been here before or it's thier first time. I can't say enough good things about AL. Don't hesitate if he's available! ¡Muchas, muchas gracias a todos Al!
We had Daniel for both the city tour and food tour! He did an amazing job in sharing so much history about the landmarks and places I felt only locals would know about. Super cool and knowledgeable!! Also, the food tour was fabulous!!! We were lucky enough to book him for two tours back to back and we were happy and bells full!
Mariel provided my husband and I with our first Withlocals experience, and we were blown away! We started our visit to Mexico City with Mariel showing us the major landmarks of Centro Histórico, and it really helped set the stage for a wonderful trip. Mariel is very knowledgeable and passionate, as well as a joy to be around! Admittedly I was nervous about taking a private tour, but if other experiences Withlocals are even half as good as our experience with Mariel, we would be satisfied! :)
Mariel was a superb guide educating my wife and me about the history, architecture and anthropology of the historic quarter. Her knowledge and empathy with her topic came through. She was accommodating ensuring that we understood both the history, separating fact from speculation, and the geology Mexico City that continues to influence development today. She also shared what life was like living as a contemporary resident of this beautiful city. It was a pleasure walking with her and we learnt a lot.
Daniel was very knowledgeable all the historic center, also have us recommendations where to eat, very good tour
We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Al was extremely flexible and communication was great! He maximized our time together and provided us with lots of little gems during the tour. Highly recommend.
Yvan did a great tour for us today. He showed the highlights of Centro Historico and he knew so much about the area and its history. This tour was a nice way to see the key highlights of the city and decide where to come back and explore more.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and the tour was very interesting. Unfortunately the Mexico City marathon was the same day as our tour and made it very difficult. We had originally tried to book another tour but it was canceled without an explanation. We now suspect it was because of the marathon. Due to the traffic restrictions and the number of people attending the marathon we cut the tour short. I would do the tour again but first ensure there were no competing events.
We love our walking tour with Mariel. She was so well-informed and gave us a great historical overview of the center of the city. Highly recommended! Thank you, Muriel.
So happy we chose Mariel for our tour. She was incredibly knowledgeable and we appreciated her story telling approach to Mexico’s complicated history. She was also friendly, professional, and flexible. We had very tasty tacos about halfway through and she left us with more recommendations at the end of our tour. We learned so much during our few hours with her. Highly recommend.
Good tour. Mariel was very nice. Easy to understand and very knowledgeable. However, the tour was scheduled for 3 hours and we only received 2 hours. Also, we were supposed to receive a drink during the tour....but none was offered.
Super relaxed to just be abel to walk behind Al through little back streets to hidden gems! We (fam of 6 w/ kids 15-22 years old) enjoyed every minute of the place we saw and the stories he told us. We had a custom tour because we are not interested in the “tourist traps” and mariachis and tequila (sorry!) and we walked areas we had walked before but with Al saw 10x more!! specially loved Condesa/Roma his home game!! Hopped on public transport (good for the kids to experience!) He took more than the agreed time, knew his rout and stayed so relaxed! Would ask him again a next visit!! Feels like a friend!
