Beautiful, amazing, and holy. Before you go, it is recommended to read about St. Juan Diego’s tilma, and the apparitions and message of our Lady of Guadalupe.

Alicia, our tour guide along with Christian the driver took a very good care of us on our private tour of our lady of Guadalupe. She explained the history and story of our Lady of Guadalupe in a very animated and relatable manner. We enjoyed our private tour very much as we could go at our own pace as I was traveling with my elderly mother and aunt. I would highly recommend Alicia and the private tour to our Lady of Guadalupe. They picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel.
Very beautiful grounds, don’t miss the back part of the complex. There was live music, it was wonderful to hear the bells ringing, and the gift shop was lovely. There is a huge market right next-door to the Basilica complex. It’s a beautiful place to walk around and also if you just want some quiet, peaceful reflection, outside the hustle and bustle of Mexico City, this is a perfect place to spend an afternoon.
We had a very good tour with Herson. He was knowledgeable and friendly. The tour bus was comfortable.
Canceled less than 24 hours before trip. Apparently they sent an email 24 hours before my visit that I wasn't able to respond to because I was on a plane so they said I forfeited it and REFUSED TO REFUND. They gave no indication that I would need to expect said email and that I must respond within 2 hours or I would be forfeiting
Our tour guy was amazing. We wanted her in all our other tours! She was knowledgeble and didn't rush us. My mother was in a wheel chair and she help us find all the easier routes.
Our tour guide was exceptional and very knowledgeable . We had a wonderful day. She went above and beyond and even recommended the most amazing restaurant to eat dinner at. Highly recommend.
My tour was cancelled and no reason was stated. I was just sent an email stating that it would not be taking place.
Our tour guide Lithage?? was truly excellent. She picked us up at the hotel on time and provided some history of the areas that we passed through on the way to the Shrine. Inside she gave us very detailed information and did not rush us at all. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.
Our tour was perfect! I can’t remember her name, but she took us everywhere, spending as much time as we wanted. Pick up was on time. Nothing tops seeing Our Lady of Guadalupe, and attending Mass at the basilica comes in second. Our tour encompassed everything, and nothing was rushed. Highly recommend her.
The site itself was beautiful and amazing! We went back on our own the next day and spent even more time there. The tour was very overpriced and not what we expected (I have done TA tours before and they have always been top notch). Our guide was nice and knew a lot about the facts/history about the area and the Guadalupe Shrine, but she did not have the skills to be a good tour guide. She didn't ask us anything about ourselves, did not make the van ride engaging, and did not take command of the tour. We could have almost done the same thing on our own, just as we did the next day without a guide. We took another TA tour two days later to the pyramids, and that guide was exceptional!
Mario was a great guide! I did this on a Sunday afternoon. We walked around the basilica, and Mario gave us some of the history. At the end some of us went to mass, and others had time to wander around for 45 minutes which was nice
Seeing the Tilma of St Juan Diego and climbing up the Tepeyac hill and the Basillica which can seat more than 10,000 worshippers..our guide was very knowledgeable...
I found Alberto to be very knowledgeable especially about the background of Juan Diego and his indigenous nature. This is a subject commonly overlooked by tours who simply recite the common published story. If you'd like to learn more about the lesser known aspects of the story, then Alberto is a great guide. However, you need to express an interest in a specific topic. As I have been researching this apparition for awhile, he brought good insights to more completely tell the story.
I give Ligia top ratings because she is knowledgeable and pleasant company. We also commend her for her patience. I misunderstood her instructions where to meet after visiting the first Apparition. She waited awhile and I apologized for the mistake. She’s the most experienced tour guide at Amigo Tours, working there for 19 years.
The tour guide was great Viator/Amigas, please schedule this tour earlier so that we can see more of the area around the basilica. We saw the main building and one other but did not have time for the other churches nor the hill. If the tour started at 1:00 that would be enough time to enjoy all that the area has to offer. The buildings close at 5:00 so we have less than an hour to see those that we saw but we were rushed.
While many folks were booked for the tour only I showed up. That didn’t stop the guide from taking me around! Highly knowledgeable and strongly recommend.
Let me start by saying this review is in regards to Roberto (tour guide) and not Abraham (the bus driver, who was very considerate). I have never written a review before but after this I had to. If I wrote every single thing that went wrong it would be an essay so Ill just sum it up. We were asked to meet at a hostel which was concerning. If you decide to take this tour you better be alert because he just goes and assumes youll be following. He did this when we first met, got on the bus, got off the bus, at the tour site, and after. Once the tour actually started the experience just continued to go downhill. Throughout the tour (if you can call it that) he was very uncommunicative, mumbled his words, left us behind MULTIPLE times, and seemed like he couldn’t care less. I couldn’t tell what language he was fluent in (Spanish or english) since both were terrible to the point of us correcting him. The worse part was that after the tour he said he would drop us off at a designated spot in a historic area and then suddenly decided to just stop the bus and let us out in the middle of nowhere. Leaving us stranded for 20 minutes while we kept requesting Uber's and trying to familiarize ourselves with our surroundings. Not to mention he also left people behind after waiting 8 minutes. It was a waste of time and money. If you’re looking into this experience get an uber, buy some religious pieces to get them blessed, do some reading on the history, and go around the places yourself. Trust me you’ll be much better off.
There were so many little things I did not know that Mike explained! It was wonderful! The tour has lots of beautiful sacred moments. I especially loved all the indigenous history. Gracias, Tlacomatle, Thank You.
Great tour. Very informative. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was patient and kind with my mother who had several questions.
Our tour to the Basilica of Guadalupe was excellent! Leonardo was an outstanding tour guide. His explanations were vivid and informative. I highly recommend this tour for both a religious and cultural experience.
Everything was so important, every detail was incredibly and what it make me feel worry is about how the cathedral is sinking a bit every year 😞
Wonderful experience with a tour operator who was kind and accommodating with my fathers wheelchair.
This destination is vast and quite a bit of walking. We arrived towards the end of a catholic mass it was quite inspiring to see the congregants and their devotion to this historical place. The Basilica is very large and houses the actual original painting of the event. Gardens and statuary abound and there is a steep walk up to one if the highest vistas in the area gardened and terraced atop. As I was still suffering slightly from altitude sickness (Day1 in Mexico City) - I elected not to take the trek up. All in all spent more than 4 hours discovering the beauty of this site. I am not religious but maintain am spiritual plus devoted to leaving less of a carbon footprint upon this planet. I especially appreciated the spirituality this site brought out of me. I feel strongly that this site is a must see for Mexico City if not for the artifacts and natural beauty - the people watching is extraordinary.
Alejandro was fantastic. Excellent tour guide: He accommodated us even though there were demonstrations! highly recommended!!
I wanted to not only visit the shrine but also to be able to pray while we were there and our guide Ligia accommodated us very well. She was very knowledgeable of the history of each of the apparition points and she very kindly waited with us for the services. The transportation service was excellent and we would recommend this tour for anyone who wants to visit this shrine and make a pilgrimage out of it.
It was our first time in Mexico City and looked forward to our tour of the Guadalupe Shrine. We were not disappointed!! Our guide was Mirian and Joseluis drove for us. (spelling?) They were not only professional and knowledgeable, they were quite pleasant and friendly. We always felt safe and the Shrine should be a part of anyone's visit to Mexico City. It's a bit of a drive from the downtown area but so well worth it. I also got a real sense of the pride our hosts had for the Shrine and their city...

It was fantastic . Our tour guide, Merriam was great. Very knowledgeable and friendly. She was very nice.. a good tour guide. Me and my mom Had fun
my visit to the basilica of Guadalupe that is located in mexico city was very beautiful and the best of all is that you can get there by truck or in your own transport it is a catholic place and there is the virgin of Guadalupe that we Mexicans we identify her as our mother there are many people who visit her either to give thanks for a request, a promise, many people carry candles, hair, flowers among other things it is a very large and beautiful place you can go with whomever you wish since it is a very visited place all year round and they also have photos for the memory or sale of religious products to take them to your home to give to your family and friends
The tour was really nice and enlightening. Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative. The property, gardens, and structures were beautiful. One of the best tours in Mexico City, a must do! The tour company was professional and punctual. Thank you.
They cancelled on us ...nobody answered my email y just need my money back.. ... They do not help us and said contact your viator
Fabio & Alex were super friendly , they’re awesome!! I highly recommend it for anyone . Till next time !!
This is a must visit place in Mexico City if you are or not catholic, the impressive structure and history is breathtaking
This company is a complete fraud. Do not use them. I booked a tour through Trip Advisor. The website said to meet at Amigos Hostel at 3PM. Then a few a hours later, I received a message, saying it was at 4PM. I called to verify what the correct pick up time was because I didn't want to arrive an hour earlier and just wait. I called and called and they finally answered and clarified it was at 4PM. I arrived before 3:50 PM at Amigos Hostel we had to wait 40 minutes for our driver to arrive. There were 5 people on our tour plus the tour guide. When the Amigos Tour driver gets there, he arrives in a tiny sedan which meant we wouldn't all fit. Well the company then orders an uber and sends me and another guest on it without the guide. We ride uber 24 minutes from Amigos Hostel to the Basilica. When we arrive, there are hundreds of people there and we cannot find the tour guide and the other guests, I call the company numerous times and they never answered. The company has our contact information and they did not care one bit about where we were. They never contacted us. This company is not professional at all. I had to pay for my own uber ride back without going on the tour. When I got home I called again still no response. No word yet on a refund. Please do not waste your valuable vacation trusting this company.
TripAdvisor have to investigate Amigo tours, they were suppose to pick me up in the airport and to take me to Guadalupe tour,And never show up.Didnt pick the phone and no response my Email.Dejen de robarle a la gente.Amigo tours,
Best idea to captivate the crowd in a majestic and breath taking place, the sour rounded sound made it easy to hear and understand the great job the priest was doing Love to see the variety of people worshiping together
both cathedrals, the old one and this beautiful one are worth to visit. The "Tilma" is beautiful. Dont forget to visit the surrounding of the cathedral showing the apparition of Mary, our Mother.
We arrived early to our pick-up destination and were a little confused as there was no outside signage but once we made our way inside the location, the staff greeted us warmly and we set off on our adventure. Mauricio was our tour guide and thoroughly explained the history and points of interest on our way to Basilica de Guadalupe and made sure that we experienced all of the special moments along the way and during our tour. It was a humbling and spiritual experience, no matter your faith and I highly recommend this as one of the must sees in Mexico.
We had a driver Freddy, tour guide Luis and assistant Arazeli. We visited the Temple where Juan Diego was baptized, the old and new Basilica of Guadalupe and stopped at an artesian market (use bathroom here) for souvenirs. Luis has such a great personality and explained the history in such beautiful detail. He even went out of his way to show me where I could buy flowers as an offering to Virgen de Guadalupe. Arazeli was such a sweetheart, took her time to ensure the group stayed together and even helped me pick out a Virgin de Guadalupe medallion to be blessed by priest (from artesian market). The best part was all the history learned, the worst I would say is they were a few minutes late so I got a little nervous at meeting spot (Hostal Amigo, Mexico City) since we arrived 15 minutes earlier as suggested on tickets. Definitely bring good walking shoes/sandal, there are a lot of steps up to see the old basilica. Oh and they will take you to an area where you can request/pray to Virgen for a miracle and light a candle, but you must bring one with you. I tipped $200 pesos, because the tour was definitely one I would take again.
I booked the tour for today and no one showed up at the pick up point. I called amigo tour and they said they don't have my booking! Absolutely scam! I need my refund!
Visiting the Shrine of Guadalupe is definitely a must if visiting Mexico city. It is impressive and rather large so many can join the daily masses. The also have a gift shop in the lower level which unfortunately is overpriced and can get very hectic and chaotic.
My tour to the Shrine was excellent in every way. Jocelyn was very knowledgeable about all topics concerning the origins and history of the story of Juan Diego and the Virgin of Guadalupe. More than that, she was a great teacher on many other topics of Mexican history and cultures, past and present. She was eager to respond to all questions I had, and her explanations encouraged me to do more research and study on many issues. Plus, it was a delight to have her as my guide. Thank you for a great afternoon.

This tour was pretty cool the timing was perfect and we happened to be the only ones participating so it turned into a private tour. The tour guide was very sweet and we really enjoyed her. We got a lot of time to take pictures while getting a little history in. You could probably do this tour on your own, however, if you have a strict agenda you want to stick with I do recommend this tour.

We very much enjoyed our tour of the Shrine of Guadalupe! Gabriel, our tour guide, was very informative and was very patient while we asked him several questions about the Virgen and the miracle that occurred at the site. We checked out the chapels, the old Basilica and new the Basilica. We were grateful that the tour was not cancelled, even though my wife and I were the only ones that booked the tour. Highly recommend the tour!

We had a great time at the shrine. Anthony was a very helpful guide, and did a great job of accommodating folks with different needs and interests.

the transportation good!, the guide so so... Nothing additional of what I read previously.

DO NOT book any tours from Amigos Tours! They are the most incompetent and rude company we have ever encountered. We have traveled all over the world and booked a lot of tours from Viator and have never had any problems before. Unfortunately, this vendor should've never been recommended by this website, because they don't meet their quality standards. Viator, please stop recommending Amigos Tours! We booked an English tour which was supposed to go from 3pm - 5pm. First of all, their offices are located inside a youth hostel in a very hard to find street of the historic area, in a very hidden, back room office. Everyone that works there is very rude, unorganized, incompetent and don't even want to talk to you or answer any questions. We came in on time and were rudely kicked out and told to wait in the downstairs youth hostel waiting area, which was dirty and smelled gross. Then, when the tour guide showed up LATE, he didn't even acknowledge us or give us any updates on the tour details. He just sat down and looked at his cell phone. The bus was almost an hour late and the guide didn't even speak English. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt since we had been waiting for over an hour and I spoke Spanish, so I could translate for my family. When we finally got to the shrine it had been almost two hours late and a lot of the church sites and museums were closing. The tour guide was just looking at his cell phone and didn't even know anything about the history or details of the church. He couldn't even answer any of our questions regarding the history, names or dates! Then, to top it all off, we had a small group of 8 people including my family of 4, but he still managed to lose one of the couples that were in our group and didn't even know they were missing until we made him aware of it! We wasted the entire day and missed our dinner reservations that evening, so we just decided to take an Uber back to our hotel, instead of waiting another hour for their bus to pick us up from the shrine, which was late again! PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS TOUR CO. You will regret it!

We really lucked out with our tour. We, a couple, were the only persons scheduled the day we went. As a result our guide was able to provide us superb attention and did so. It was more like having a conversation, than a tour with all our questions being answered. We were surprised at the immensity of the facilities associated with Our Lady of Guadalupe and the multiple churches on the grounds. There is much more to see than you would expect. It is also beautifully landscaped. There is a plaza that reminded me of Tiananmen Square in size. In December as many as 6 million people have come to this place. Our guide was a young woman and she was wonderful, with excellent English skills. This is an easy tour with time going back and forth and attending a service in the basilica. One note, the climb to the original chapel is at the top of Tepeyac hill and does require some moderate exertion, but it is well maintained stairs and offers beautiful views. There are cheaper ways to see this site, but I feel we received superb service left at 3 p and returned around 6:30, I believe, and overall certainly received our 24 U.S. worth.

This is one of those tours that really depends on one's interest in the site, but as one of the most visited religious pilgrimage sites in the world, certainly worth considering. No regrets here. Missed it on my last trip to Mexico City many years ago and wasn't going to this time. Fotos are allowed everywhere except the original chapel.

Luckily it's only me and my wife! guide is awesome! even gave us a chance to attend Sunday mass!
