Itinerary
One of the most beautiful natural areas not only in the state of Hidalgo but in all of Mexico, Grutas Tolantongo is a true oasis where you can swim in multiple pools fed by thermal waters, relax in an impressive turquoise river, or even get on one of the four zip lines. Imagine yourself soaking in pools of naturally-heated water, cascading down the steep mountainside, the water flowing from one pool to another, with breathtaking views of the canyon below.

Reviews
They canceled the trip in the middle of the night. Got up at 4 AM for pick up at five and at 12:30 that morning they had canceled the trip. Poor service. Recommend using another company.
Absolutely amazing experience! The driver was the best. He drove us there safely and in a timely manner. We were free to roam around on our own. Definitely booking this again!!
Sal our tour guide made our adventure smooth. Enjoyed every minute of this journey. Couldn’t ask for a better experience.
I will start by saying our guides were very nice and did their best with the situation at hand. I will also say I appreciate that when I brought the issue to the tour operators attention, they issued a $70 refund. However a $70 refund is disappointing for the experience we had, so I will continue with leaving a review. They listed the tour as a private transfer. This usually means a SUV or small van, but no, It was a small sedan, and my party of three was packed into the back of the car like sardines for a total of 8 hours. Our backs and legs hurt for having to sit still on top of each other for hours. Then, given the condition of the car, the tire bust and we had to pull over on the side of the road. The driver was able to put a donut tire on and make it to the grotas, but then he had to leave to find another tire The point of a private tour is that you can come and leave as you wish. But given the fact that our driver had to go all the way out of the mountains to get a new tire, we were stranded at the location two hours longer than we wanted to stay. So in terms of comfort and flexibility, you’d be better off taking a public tour for a fraction of the cost. Additionally the grotas were not that impressive, and are not worth losing a day in Mexico City. They are very impressive, are not all natural, and is really far for the value of the experience Additionally the tour lists snacks and water included and we did not get either
Excellent trip…highly recommended for anyone planning a visit to to the Grutas…the place is stunning and definitely worth the visit…Sal our guide was definitely one of the best parts of our trip..he was awsome.
Miguel was a joy to be around. He was so much fun and treated me with respect. I could tell that he enjoyed the tour as much as I did. His English was perfect and he knew where to go, even though he had a GPS system. He made everything easy and knew the layout of the destination well.
Very accommodating & friendly people especially Carlos was wonderful. Definitely recommend to everyone. Great experience
Sal was the difference maker! The scenery was beautiful and Sal made the journey fun and interesting with his knowledge of history and his friendliness.
My husband and I went on the one-day tour, and really enjoyed the beautiful river and grottos. Our guide was prompt, enthusiastic and easy-going, and took us on scenic trips to and from our destination.
I was unable to go on this trip due to being ill, but my in-laws were able to go and they loved it! They said their guide was very helpful, and was able to stop so that they could purchase water shoes and coffee on the way. Although the trip was long, once they arrived there, they had several hours at the hot springs and really soaked up their time there!
We spent two days and one night exploring beautiful parts of Mexico with Carlos, our tour guide. He is both kind and considerate, something we both appreciated very much as it was our first time seeing these sights. We truly enjoyed traveling with him as he will not only be efficient with your time, he will also be fully prepared with his iPad, Teotihuacan reference book, and laser pointer as a way to provide more insight and attention to details throughout the trip. He is more than willing to adjust the itinerary and also makes thoughtful suggestions for pit stops along the way. There is no doubt about how rich the history is in Mexico so I definitely encourage you to ask as many questions as he is very knowledgeable and curious about this beautiful place. We are so grateful for his service and most importantly, his professionalism throughout the whole journey!!!🇲🇽📷😎🥳
We had a blast with our private tour to Tolatongo. Isah and Carlos were our tour guide and driver. They are super sweet and very knowledgeable. They cater to our needs and everything along the way. The view was worth the long drive and the hot springs was amazing. Im so glad I got this off my bucket list. Highly recommended!
Doing a long, full day tour is always tiring but having a great tour guide makes a world of difference. We are so fortunate that we had that with Ximena. Her and her driver was punctual, patient and friendly. Ximena was great at explaining things and answering any and all questions we had, not just about the tour but Mexico City as well. She brought such a positive energy to our day and took great pics for us! We are so very thankful and will recommend this tour to anyone!
We booked a private tour to Tolantongo with a one adventures and Ximena was our guide, she was amazing! She was very accommodating and so informative. It was a long day but so worth it! She vibed with our girl group so well and made our tour so much more fun! Would highly recommend this company and ask for Ximena to be your guide!
We had the best experience with our tour guide, Ximena Luna! She was very knowledgeable, helpful, and passionate about her job.
Communication was great. Vladimir, our tour guide, was excellent. He spoke excellent English and was very informative about the grutas. He took us to have brunch at a barbacoa restaurant (which there were plenty of along the way) before getting to the grutas. The grutas itself was beautiful, and we enjoyed all of the facilities. Wish the drive was not too long. Overall, excellent tour and highly recommended.
Amazing tour, the guide was awesome, loved the fact that it was a small group, and the tour could be customized to what I wanted!
Absolute MUST if you are in Mexico! We took our 4 older kids (16-21) on a Friday. Full day family adventure to tolantogo. George was our driver who was great. Our guide was Ed who grew up here in Mexico city. His English was really good which made communication easy. We had a great experience from pick up to drop off (6am-8pm). Worth the price to have this as a guided tour bc everything is included and NO stress which alone is worth the extra money when you are traveling here. The cave was awesome. Water shoes are a must. We bought ours along the way for super cheap thanks to Ed. Make sure to go into the second cave!! If your not a strong swimmer theres a rope at the right which makes it easy to get through. The river is also amazing and beautiful. The pictures are Exactly how it looks in person (which is not also true with advertising)!! Lots of options to find your own pool to chill. The hours go by fast. Jacuzzis are great. There were lots of people but we were able to find our own private pools with no problem. There are lockers to put stuff in for 150 pesos or leave in van. Very safe! Prepare to relax and enjoy a full day!! We really wanted a cultural experience and we stopped at roadside stand for authentic Mexican food and drinks. Make sure you bring some coin $5 pesos for bathrooms you stop on the drive and pesos for things you might want to buy and to eat/drink. Its all cheap and its a cash society so not many options to use credit cards. Ed did everything we asked and wanted. If we are here again we would definitely go again exactly this way and highly recommend!
30 Apr 2022 (Saturday) I took a private grutas de Tolantongo Tour from Mexico City. My first-time using vibe company and I had an amazing time. The tour guide, Sal, contacted me in the evening before to confirm pick up time & location. The tour guide arrived on time and provided information about Tolantogno. I was able to explore the entire park unfortunately, I lost one of my water shoes because of the current. The guide was very kind and allowed me to borrow an extra pair of his shoes until I could replace my shoes. Tolantongo was beautiful. The waterfalls, caves, and rivers were incredible. I had a wonderful time and would highly recommend Sal as your tour guide and checking out the Tolantongo Tour.
