It is an absolute full day experience but well worth it. Turo tours were amazing. They go well and above and beyond. Tania and Santiago made the journey great. We will definitely be back with friends and family. Thank you guys for making our trip special. ❤️

Itinerary
Depending on your preferences, we will meet at the "Angel de Independencia" approximately between 5:35 to 5:50am, departing early to escape the city chaos. Our group will have private transportation. We will stop for an early breakfast in Actopan, a city halfway to our destination. travel time to the restaurant is approximately 90 minutes.
Vegetarian friendly options with limited vegan options. Breakfast is on us.
We will pass by the quiet town of San Cristobal, Hgo. This is the town and community that owns las Grutas de Tolantongo. The drive from breakfast to this spot will be approximately 90 minutes. Along the way, we will briefly stop for any missing supplies you may be needing for the day's adventure.
The day is divided into three parts. Pool Tranquility: Start your day relaxing a while in the “pocitos”; naturally warm thermal pools that provide astounding views that soothe & clear the body and mind –perfect for “the gram.” From here, there is a zip-lining options to get you down to the next part of our day at the river. Please note that zip lining is not included in the price of the tour (300 Mexican pesos). Our guide will make sure to have all the essentials you will need for the day. Drive from the breakfast stop to actually touching the water is typically two and a half hours. Actual time spent at the pools is roughly one hour and forty minutes.
Cave Exploration: Finally, you will see awe-inspiring waterfalls and unexpected adventure that our guests have described as “life changing.” Our guides will take you to explore the caverns and tunnels located here. Enjoy the water falls covering the caves and take a swim in the warm pool inside the mountain.
River Relaxation: Next, the turquoise-colored river is well-managed and is naturally warm due to the thermal springs, a complete relaxing experience. Lunch will be alongside the river (weather permitting). Lunch is not included. We provide a menu that you can place your order from to save time and better enjoy the river. We will collect your lunch total during the day, unless you paid for LUNCH COVERED OPTION ($220MXN MAX). Tables and chairs are included. Please note that the time spent includes time it takes to move around throughout the day. We will head out as early as 3:30 to 5:30, depending on group efficiency and timing, arriving as early as 7:30 to 9:30 (conditions approving), full of new experiences and photos to share with envious family and friends.
We will stop at two restrooms stops on the way home. Typically first stop is 1 hour in, then 2 hour laters, then finally arriving in CDMX, weather and traffic permitting.

It was a great experience! Diego did an excellent job at communicating, explaining the activities, and making sure the group stayed together. I will definitely recommend this tour to others!!!
This was a full day tour+ I really appreciated how straightforward and punctual our guide was throughout the experience. He showed us something truly out of a fairy tale and was very resourceful with everything they provided. All you really had to do was show up and bring a good mood! They had everything you could need, including waterproof gear, food, and sunscreen. One thing I would recommend clarifying beforehand is that the ziplining option is available but is not included in the tour price. This could be a little confusing at times, so making that distinction clearer would be helpful for future guests. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
A wonderful experience and adventure led by Danny! Definitely would recommend to others. The waters were just perfect.
Amazing experience. Stunning baths, cave & river! Great facilities. Our driver Alfredo and tour guide Mónica were courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. They made sure we were comfortable at all times and enjoying the experience.
Truly such a beautiful and fun experience! I went with my best friend Maria and met so many great people along the way! Our guide Diego was amazing, organized, easy going, and hilarious! And our driver Ezekiel was amazing too for driving us around the whole time! This has been one of the best days of my life that I will never forget! This is also an experience that takes up an entire day so be prepared and plan to come back late in the evening! It’s definitely worth your money!!
Absolutely otherworldly experience I would HIGHLY recommend making a day for these beautiful falls and park. Damian was an AMAZING tour guide. The day was very organized and the group thought of everything you might need from start to finish.
10/10 recommend! Leo was our tour guide and he was very attentive, efficient and great overall. This tour is very organized and the shuttle was very comfortable! The ride did not feel bad at all. We made friends along the way and had karaoke on the way back. Best experience!
1st stop: breakfast buffet-food was okay, my tip would be to change into your swimsuit here or wear it under ur clothes 2nd stop: Store- you are meant to change into your swimsuit here. There are bathrooms with 3 stalls on one side and a single change room on the other side so it is very busy with a bus full of people. They want you to purchase water shoes here. I would suggest that you have them, but just bring them with you. They encourage you to put your sunscreen on in the bus and they don’t really give you time to do it. There is no room. Stop 3: Hot springs. The highlight and the whole point. You can not have your own disposable water bottles. They provide a backpack with a reusable bottle, a phone dry bag (mine had a large rip in it), headlight for the caves, and a towel. I would suggest bringing your own of all these items. Also, we did the zip line (300pesos/person) it was fun Stop 4: Caves- rocks are uneven and very slippery but worth going to both. Stop 5- Lunch- Great food, probably the best we had on the whole trip Stop 6- The River- kind of dirty looking, we skipped it and just got changed Stop 7- Bathroom break and time to settle the bill
We had the best time! If you are going make sure you don’t sit in the back of the van as it is super bumpy but those in front did not have any problems. The pools were perfect and our guide did a great job of keeping us informed and showing us all the different details along the way to make the most of our trip. The breakfast and lunch were phenomenal I didn’t much care for the dinner though. My husband hates long car drives and swimming and even he said he would do it again.
If you are thinking about booking this but aren’t sure because it takes the whole day… yes it will take the whole day, but it is sooo worth it. The site is amazing. The cave is out of this world. It was totally worth it. The breakfast was delicious. The lunch could have been better and served faster. My driver wasn’t the smoothest driver, but we got back safe. However, there are some things to point out. This is not a small group activity. On mine were 30 people divided in two different vans with just one guide. The poor guy had to go back and forth on both buses. That obviously cuts his time explaining and hosting in half. If the agency wants bigger groups they should invest in a bigger bus. So the guide can be in full attention to one group. In addition , the small buses are pretty uncomfortable for such a long trip. Regardless, the experience was breathtaking and unique. You get enough time on each stop inside the site. A good way to get away from the city and connect with nature for a bit. Book!
Breath taking views so unique and peaceful. It was the perfect geat away from the chaos that is mexico city. Alex the tour guide was amazing and it was a pleasure to meet other travelers.
Guide was very friendly and helpful with everything. So much to see and do. The ride from Mexico City to the site is long but worth it.
Experience was amazing. 10/10 recommend. Our tour guide was Adrian and he make the excursion super fun! You get breakfast, go to the hot spring pools, you can zip line if you’d like for an additional cost , explore the caves and the river. The water is super warm and lovely. If you forgot your swimsuit, don’t worry as they stop by a store along the way. Also would recommend that you purchase water shoes (can be bought at the store they stop at).
Love the experience, the road is bumpy and long but the trip is worth it Lalo was a great host. I would recommend it.
I highly recommend this tour if you want to see Tolantonga. The tour is very well organized and they have everything you need for the long day
Diego was the best tour guide. He explained everything and was really fun and kept us all together. We got everything in. Highly recommend this excursion.
Trip was wonderful. Customer service was amazing . The driver and guide made us very comfortable. However we have one concern is that the leg room in the van is less for 4 hrs one way drive .
My boyfriend and I had the best time on this tour! I would recommend it to any of my friends/family. Our tour guide was very informative the entire trip and super kind. We went at a perfect time of year so it wasn’t very busy and we had plenty of options of empty pools for ourselves. We had plenty of breaks and water/snacks. We always felt taken care of. Very beautiful experience.
Carlos and Eduardo were great tour guides! We were so impressed with how accommodating they were, they really thought of everything - plenty of towels, shower stuff, waters, snacks, and cave gear. They were so knowledgeable about the indigenous lands we were going to in Tolantongo, was nice to learn about the history. Would definitely go again!!!
Amazing experience. 10/10. Lalo was an excellent guide and we truly enjoyed everything about this trip. They do an amazing job at making sure everyone has a great time and we’d definitely go back.
It was an interesting experience! Our guide, Adrian, was really great and made the whole trip more interesting and enjoyable, while also making us feel safe. The driver was great as well. I wasn’t too impressed with the pools, but the caves were an absolute gem and definitely the highlight of the trip!
Perfectly planned. From morning nap to breakfast and restroom breaks, the drive is well thought out.
An unfriendly group except a few, Danny the tour guide managed for us to have a great time.
Recommend for anyone who loves the adventure, don’t be scared at all, you’re in great company! The scenery is breathtaking! 100%
Alex and Nico were amazing! This tour is a long trek from CDMX. Traffic is wild so instead of a hotel pick up, we had meeting spots around the city. We were the last pick up and ended up in the very back of the shuttle bus which is very bouncy. In fact, to a point where my step counter tracked over 30,000 steps! LOL Alex is a historian who shared critical pieces of knowledge about Indigenous communities preserving their sovereignty. Truly beautiful work! Tolantongo is absolutely gorgeous. We were safe, fed, and had a wonderful day. Nico, you're on team Lilith if there is a zombie apocalypse because you handle mountain curves like a pro!! I highly recommend these two for this tour. It's a must visit if you're in CDMX. It's a very long day and worth every moment.
Be prepared for a long day but it is absolutely worth it. The hot springs are beautiful and it’s so nice to relax in them. The zip line down to lunch is a must-do too! Alex was a fantastic and attentive guide who made our experience smooth and enjoyable. You have to do this as an excursion from Mexico City!
Well organized and communicative about picking up ant 5am after booking. Prepaid lunch was confusing. While booking, you have the option to pre-pay for lunch. But after booking, you receive a menu to make your lunch selection with the caveat that prices are 20 to 30 pesos more than the menu. We then had to settle up in cash on the second stop after a long day. The tour operator did not have records of our prepayment, so we had to show her the booking to prove we had prepaid. Then she converted the additional charge with a lower than market exchange rate if you paid in dollars. We were also informed as we left the pools that we would all be dropped off at the Angel and responsible for our own transportation back to our hotels due to protests. One of our group slipped and broke her ankle at the pools, and the tour operator did not offer to drive her to medical care or back to her hotel. instead they deposited her on the side of the road.in an area with no seating.
Our tour guide, Alex, was wonderful! He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful throughout the experience. Unfortunately, due to the rain, we weren’t able to visit the caves, which was disappointing since we were really looking forward to seeing them. The tour company was very understanding and kindly offered us the option to cancel. However, we decided that seeing part of the beautiful hot springs was better than missing out on the experience entirely. We appreciated the breathtaking scenery and the opportunity to experience such a unique place. We would definitely love to return someday to experience everything we missed!
AHHHMAZING!!! Everyone must go! Just be prepared for a LOT of stairs. If you take the zip line (which you should!!) the stairs back up to the bus are brutal. The stairs to the caves and rivers are brutal too! Our guide Alex was great. Our driver was crazy. The roads are rough and it was too difficult to sleep.
Tania was so organized and great! She was really helpful before and during the whole day. Ride was a bit bumpy on way in since we got sat in back of bus (bad seat lol avoid if possible) food was also mid. But for all things within Tania’s control, it was great
Diego and Pepe made the whole trip magical. Def recommend the environment is breathtaking and well worth seeing. 100 water therapy.
We had an excellent time on this excursion. Adrian was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, pickup smooth and the overall experience more than we expected. One of the highlights, in addition to the hotsprings, were the caves and the waterfalls.
This excursion provided us with transportation meals, and our driver Nikko was very nice. The Hot Springs were beautiful. The water was nice and warm and the excursion was perfect.
We had a blast on this trip to Tolantongo! It was very well thought out and planned. It was a very beautiful area and we had so much fun exploring! Thank you Tania and Pepe! Would definitely recommend.
The whole experience was fantastic, our guide Diego was extremely well spoken in both English and Spanish and kept us very well informed throughout the day. My favorite were the caves and river.
We had such an amazing time on our Tolantongo tour with Diego! There was plenty of communication before and throughout the trip, which made everything feel easy and stress-free. He kept us on schedule without ever making us feel rushed, and every part of the day was so enjoyable. The views were incredible, the food was amazing, and the whole experience was truly worth it. We would absolutely do this tour again! Highly recommend Diego!
Best tour ever! This place was incredible.
We had such an amazing day. Adrian was our guide and Cha cha was our driver. They were both fantastic. They were welcoming, friendly, informative, and attentive. The hot springs were better than expected. We did Zip Lining and explored the hot spring caves led by Adrian. We ended with the hot springs river. Highly recommended. The road getting there is windy and bumpy but well worth it.
Even though we were warned it would be a long day, it was packed with loads of this to see, our guide Monica was amazing she was very knowledgeable, and planned our day perfectly. We were contacted the night before with the information we needed for pick up, and were informed each step of the way of when we would stop and what was on the agenda. Our Driver Santiago was very skilled, if you get travel sick I would advise you to take a motion sickness tablet that Monica offered at the start of the morning as the road after breakfast get’s very hairy, up a mountain, on the tightest chicanes I’ve ever experienced. The Park and all it’s natural beauty is a wonder to see, a life time experience. Anyone going to Mexico should do.
We absolutely loved this trip. Our guide Carlos/Charlie was the best part. Well, the nature was out of this world but Charlie's sense of humor and the way he shared about the culture was the perfect cherry on top of an amazing day trip. If you're on the fence about the commute like I was just pull the trigger. This is easily the best part of our trip to the already outstanding CDMX.
After reading some of the reviews, we were a little worried about our trip, but thankfully, everything turned out great! If you’re staying in Centro Histórico, I recommend using Palacio de Bellas Artes as the pickup location. Our tour guide, Danny, was excellent with communication from pickup through drop-off. He kept us informed throughout the day and did a great job explaining the history and background of Tolantongo. The caves were absolutely amazing and were definitely one of the highlights of the trip. We personally would have preferred a little less time at the thermal pools and more time at the caves and having lunch by the river. The food was good, and there were enough stops and food breaks during the long drive in both directions, which made the journey much more comfortable. Traffic wasn’t bad for us, but we went midweek, which may have made a difference. Overall, we had a great experience and were very happy with how everything turned out. Danny was a wonderful guide and helped make the day enjoyable
This was an amazing experience. Turo Tours took care of everything for us. All I had to do was sit back, relax, and enjoy Tolantongo. Our guide was Charlie, and he was awesome. He was funny, engaging, and gave us additional history and information on the area. He took great care of us; I highly recommend him as a guide. The coordination to pick us up was almost military-level. lol They were very organized on where we needed to be for pickup from our hotels down to providing live locations; VERY good communication. We made two stops before we reached the springs. Once for breakfast (included) and a second stop at a small store once we got close to the springs to change into our swimwear and pickup and and snakes, beverages, sunscreen, etc. They also provided everything we needed for the trip: a wet bag, a cellphone protector, a lantern, and a water bottle. You can't take plastic bottles into the springs. They also offered water shoes to rent. I would recommend bringing goggles for the cave. Keep in mind that it is a long day. Call time was 5 am and we didn't get back to Mexico City until around 8-9 pm but it was worth it.
Amazing experience, everything was on time and communications with the tour operator was A+. Lots of swimming and great food! Our guide Danny and driver Pepe were amazing!
This was absolutely magical. I loved every moment of it. The early pickup time is so worth it! The fact that you get to see every part of the groups, caves, even zip line if you choose to was amazing! Alex was so knowledgeable and such a fun guide, the whole bus enjoyed him. The driver did a fantastic job too when the road got rough! I highly recommend this trip and they truly take care of you with the necessities you need and food and water throughout the whole day. Incredible work!
This will be one of the most incredible days of your life. The landscape is gorgeous and the springs are warm and calming.
Alex and driver were great. I highly recommend this tour. It’s a long day (5:25 am and you get back in the evening) but it goes by quickly and the mineral pools l, falls and caves are worth seeing
Very well organized trip and accommodating to all our needs. The group provided everything we would need for the trip! If you have time, I definitely would recommend you booking this excursion!
My friend and I had an amazing time through this tour. It was definitely the highlight of our trip! Tania is a great tour guide and we will never forget her! She’s so sweet, funny, and brings great vibes. Thank you to everyone at the company and even the driver! I definitely recommend this tour!
Such an amazing experience, but be prepared for a LONG day. There were plenty of stops along the way on the 3+ hour drive outside of the city, but if I had the opportunity to do it again, I would in a heartbeat. Our guide Carlos and driver Pepe were AMAZING! We learned so much about Mexico's culture and history from true locals. My only recommendation would be to cut the final river swim shorter! After the Caves and Hot Spring baths, you're drained, and waiting another two hours for people to swim in the river is painful. I would recommend cutting it by one hour and getting back to the city sooner. Must do if you're in CDMX.
