Itinerary
The tour will begin by meeting your guide at a local cafe, where you can learn about the fascinating history of Frida Kahlo. His guide will tell you about his life, art, and legacy. Then, they will be accompanied to the Blue House Museum, where they will enter directly with the guide. During the tour, your guide will provide you with information about the museum rooms while you explore on your own. You can admire works of art, personal objects, photos, letters, and memories of your life with Diego Rivera, his loves, and his struggles. They will see her rooms, her bed, the medical corsets she used, and the collection "Appearances are deceiving" with Frida's iconic dresses. At the end of the tour, you can ask the guide questions about Frida's life and work. If you wish to stay longer inside the house, you can do so to continue exploring at your own pace.
You enter the museum accompanied by your guide at the assigned time. By policy of the Frida Museum Kahlo, no guide can give explanations inside the exhibition rooms — it is a rule of the premises that applies to all agencies. That's why your guide gives you the complete tour in the Garden and the Patio of the Blue House: Who was Frida at each stage of her life, what you will find in each room, what to look at when seeing his personal objects, the corsets he wore and the collection "The Appearances are deceiving. After you tour the rooms at your own pace, already knowing what you are seeing. Your guide stays with you in the garden during the entire visit: it answers any questions that arise inside, it takes photos and accompanies you until the end of the tour.

A fantastic experience. Isaac was a very knowledgeable guide who did a great job of engaging the group.
Loved, loved this tour. So much history and Coyoacán is so quaint and beautiful. We would have loved staying longer. Our tour guide Maita was wonderful.
The tour was great, our guide Leonor was very informative and knowledgeable about the history of Frida and the Blue House.
Viator sent me an email the evening before I was supposed to go to Frida Kahlo’s blue house tour that it was canceled. I will never book with them again. How can anyone plan a vacation around a certain event only to have them canceled with less than 24 hours of notice? Unacceptable!
It is widely said among visitors to Mexico City, "You must go to the Frida Kahlo Museum in Casa Azul, if you can get tickets." We highly recommend this tour because you will want not only tickets, but a knowledgeable guide. Leonor was our guide, and she was exceptional. La Casa Azul is the home where Frida Kahlo was born and raised, and that was subsequently expanded during her marriages to Diego Rivera. The museum focuses upon that family and personal history, but does have several fascinating works painted by Kahlo and Rivera. As Leonor explained, most of their works were created on commission, and so belong to other individual and institutional collections. But experiencing this place and the stories its walls can tell will help you to truly appreciate those works wherever you may find them. The tour takes about two hours, but you can linger in the museum after the tour if you like. It also includes tickets to the nearby Diego Rivera Anahuacalli Museum (commissioned by him to preserve the working sketches for his murals and his collection of pre-Columbian art). Those tickets are good for up to one year, and so you don't have to cram everything into a single day. We chose the option for this tour that includes the guided walk through Coyouacan. Leonor was just as informative about the history of this town and the buildings and church in its central square. She also gave us a recommendation for a restaurant where we could find one of our favorite Mexican foods, and timed the tour so that she left us at its doors just in time for dinner. Wonderful tour with a wonderful guide and host.
My tour of the Frida Kahlo museum with guide Carlos was excellent! Carlos brought so much depth to the experience by telling stories about Frida’s life, showing us pictures of art he referenced and providing so much additional colour to what was on offer at the museum. His passion for art really shone through. His English was excellent and he created a fun and interesting experience for us all. Thank you Carlos!
Leonor was a great guide and knowledgeable about Frida Kahlo's life. Some people will complain about guides not accompanying the group into the inner rooms of Caza Azul but when you get there, you will realize how small and cramped the space is. Just pay attention to your guide and ask questions afterwards as needed. Our guide also helped us navigate entry into the museum, where we witnessed some people being turned away due to their tickets not scanning. Having a guide ensured we avoided these issues.
This was a wonderful experience with a guide (Vide) who was exceptionally knowledgeable and easy to get along with. Highly recommend
Really love this experience and our team was exceptional. Fulfilled one of my list in my bucket list.
By far, the best museum tour of this kind we have ever taken. Besides the fact that Frida lead such an interesting and dynamic life, Issac was an AMAZING guide. He made the entire experience so much more meaningful and informative than it would have been.
Valerie was an excellent guide who brought the Blue House to life. She is incredibly knowledgeable and we loved learning about Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera’s lives. Definitely book this tour. You won’t be disappointed.
We all enjoyed the tour and Valerie was a wonderful tour guide. She was knowledgeable, personable and very professional. Thoroughly worthwhile. Highly recommend.
Our guide Cinthya is a historian, and it showed — she knew so much about women's studies and brought Frida's story to life in a way no audio guide ever could. The small-group format made the whole day feel personal rather than touristy, and the stop for amazing tacos at a nearby market was a perfect highlight. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. If you're visiting Mexico City, book this tour — I can't recommend Cinthya enough!
Great tour with Cinthya! Having someone give you the background on Frida’s life beforehand really lends to the home tour.
Excellent tour and guide. The place is great and we learned a lot. Skip the lines, and get in when sold out. Well worth it.
Hector was super nice and helpful. He explained everything ima very casual and understanding way which we loved. He was answering all the questions we had and made sure the experience was to our taste throughout. Would highly recommend him!!
Our guide Cynthia was extremely well informed . Her narration was very animated and interesting. Kept us engrossed throughout. The museum itself gave us a deep insight into the remarkable life of Frida Kahlo. The tour lasted around 2.5 hours. We were a part of a small group six including the two of us. The entire tour was quite convivial and we enjoyed it thoroughly
Arturo was a wonderful guide! He was fun, knowledgeable and was interested in helping us have a great experience.
Lovely, lovely, very moving life of Freida Khalo and family, home, courtyard and studio.
It is amazing to walk through the intimacy of her home. The guide timed and paced the tour exceedingly well.
It was good the guide explained reasonably well and interesting place to visit
Really enjoyed this tour! Cinthya was a great guide and was very engaging and knowledge! There were 3 parts to the tour where she shared more information. She provided ample space for questions from the group. Would definitely recommend!
Great explanations and the stories of Frida Khalos life. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and informative. 10/10 recommend
Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable on the history of Mexico, and of course, the history of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera
Our guide Cynthia was enthusiastic, informative and entertaining. We enjoyed her interpretation of how Kahlo’s misfortunes made her a great artist. However, be warned the amount of time with your “personal” guide is limited. Cynthia gave an overview before we entered Casa Azul, and then chats after seeing the original building and again at the end of our visit. Apparently, it’s museum policy not to allow guides in the exhibit areas and many of the exhibit explanations are in Spanish only. The Viator tour also included tickets to the Anahuacalli museum, which we later learned are included in every Casa Azul ticket purchase. Transportation to Anahuacalli is not included in the Viator tour, and it’s a 20-minute Uber ride away. Your guide does not accompany you to this museum. Tickets from the museum site sell out weeks in advance, so Viator got us into Casa Azul on fairly late notice. Be aware the museum charges CDN$25 per person for tickets for both museums; Viator charged us $118/person. We were happy enough with the tour but it pays to reserve through the museum web site early … and do some research on Frida and Diego before you go.
Our guide Omar was excellent! So knowledgeable. Learned a lot that we wouldn’t have from going on our own. Highly recommended!
I went in to the museum knowing quite a bit of Frida and was excited to go see what was once her home. Booking a tour, and experiencing the tour with Romi was such a great experience! He was so knowledgeable and was able to answer any and all questions I had. I recommend the tour to anyone and everyone
A+ all around!!!! My son and I had such a great time and the trip and guide were so informative!
Roman was fantastic! Great guide and extremely enthusiastic and kind.
We began in the Trotsky home with the super knowledgeable Hector as our guide. His enthusiasm and energy were wonderful. We are history enthusiasts. Hector answered all of our questions brilliantly whether directly about Trotsky or something else. Then we visited La Casa Azul with Arturo who was just as enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Two amazing guides who complimented each other and made our visit to these two homes and to CDMX great. The contrast between the two homes is wonderful and on our walk from one to another we stopped at a cafe for a fresh juice. Book this tour and visit these spots with the background that makes them come alive.
Romi was great at explaining the history and cultural significance of Frida Kahlo. We purposefully didn’t read up on anything so we could learn about her through the tour. Thanks Romi for a memorable experience
Guide was very informative and provided a great experience. He was very kind and had a great sense of humour.
Had the opportunity to visit Casa Azul for a second time in this amazing City and the privilege to have Leonor for a second time around as my guide. Leonor can make your tour feel like you are walking back in time with amazing details to this beautiful home that once was Fridas studio and home. Gracias Leonor por una tarde llena de historia.
Leonor was absolutely amazing!! Her passion, knowledge, and insight into Frida’s story was incredible. We were all positively buzzing after the tour - truly feeling like we had a very real window into Frida’s life. So grateful, Leonor! Thank you! You are a dream.
Omar was very informative friendly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Very enjoyable. We learned quite a lot
Very interesting tour with the passionated guide Daniel Lopez, highly recommended!
Our guide Omar was absolutely excellent. He was a wealth of information and gave us great insight into what to expect and what to look for in the non-guided areas of the tour. We wouldn’t have had the insight or the information needed to know what artifacts we were looking at. For instance, we had no idea Frida’s ashes were in the frog urn on her dresser. This was a huge bucket list trip for us…and it couldn’t have been better❤️
Roman our tour guide was wonderful, patient and knowledgeable, I highly recommend the bilingual tour with him. We will be back soon !!
Did not disappoint, you actually could feel the vibe of Frida as she lived, worked and played. Our guide Omar was a very unique fan of Frida and more than willing to share his compassion with us. Thank you such much for a great afternoon.
Cinthya is absolutely wonderful!! She is very knowledgeable, very well prepared, speaks English fluently, acts out some of the dialogues and is delightful! I highly recommend her!!
We had an amazing experience on the Frida Kahlo Blue House tour, and a huge part of that was our wonderful tour guide, Valarie. She was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the history of the house, Frida Kahlo, and the people who lived there. What really stood out was how she used visuals and photos throughout the tour to help us better understand the history and put the stories into perspective. It made the experience much more engaging and helped bring the history of the house and its residents to life. Valarie was friendly, informative, and made the entire tour enjoyable. We learned so much and truly felt like we got more out of the experience because of her. Highly recommend this tour!!
This is a wonderful tour and Mauricio will give you the complete history of Frida’s life and her amazing art
Guide was great. He knew what he was talking about and had a lot of facts I didn’t know. I loved walking around the neighborhood. Great tour.
Valerie made the experience of the Casa Azul and the Trotsky museum so interesting and relaxed. She added so much wonderful detail to the lives they lived. Highly appreciated and recommended!
Omar was very knowledgeable and personable. We started off with a small group tour of the Frida Kahlo museum and then afterwards peeled off for what ended up being a private tour of the Leon Trotsky Museum. Highly recommend.
Roman was an excellent guide. Very organized, on time and a great communicator. He knew the larger history and context for Frida Kahlo’s art and life and was able to answer all our questions comfortably. He also had humor and heart, both qualities I’m grateful for in a guide. You’d be lucky to get him on a tour!
Excellent guide - I wish we could have hired Maite directly instead of having the booking agency take a cut.
Communication from the booking until and leading up to the tour was effortless and pleasant. Our guide Maite was instrumental in creating our wonderful experience, she was inquisitive and made us think. She was a wealth of knowledge and exquisite guide we will be back. Wishing her all the luck on her acting endeavors.
Valerie was a wonderful guide - she shared alot of knowledge about Frida - it was a fantastic experience!
