I could not have been happier with my experience! From the very beginning, Nelly made me feel completely safe, comfortable, and welcomed. She was incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and clearly passionate about Tepito, and she did an amazing job explaining the history and significance of each place we visited. I especially enjoyed seeing the local murals and learning about Tepito from a local’s perspective. Nelly took the time to answer all of my questions and shared fascinating stories about the neighborhood, its history, and its community. The tour also included food and drinks, which made the experience even more enjoyable and gave me an opportunity to taste some local flavors. Her enthusiasm and kindness made the tour truly special, and feel more like an exploring with a friend as opposed to a traditional tour guide. This was definitely the highlight of my time in Mexico City, and I would highly recommend Nelly and her group to anyone looking for a unique cultural experience.

Excellent tour with Gaby ( who’s amazing ) who shared the history and what life was like in Tepito, people very friendly and welcoming. One of the highlights visiting Mexico City
Getting to know Tepito from someone who’s from there and her family goes back four generations can’t get any better than that. Gabby was an AMAZING tour guide. Very informative and what was also amazing was that she knew a lot of people in the barrio and many knew her. The food and the drinks were so good. Despite the reputation Tepito has, it also carries a lot of history and culture. I had a great time, I would definitely do it again.
Gabriela was an excellent tour guide and really helped enhance our experience in learning about Tepito and its history! I would highly highly recommend it to anyone!
I recently took a tour of Tepito and it was one of the most eye-opening experiences of my trip to Mexico City. The tour was incredibly informative and provided a perspective on the neighborhood that I would never have gained on my own. Our guide did an outstanding job throughout the tour. She was extremely knowledgeable about the history, culture, and daily life of Tepito, and she explained everything in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. She was also very kind, welcoming, and happy to answer questions. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a more authentic and insightful experience in Mexico City.
Today we had a tour of Tepito with the amazing Gaby. It was incredible from start to finish. Many people told us to not go to Tepito but we wanted to experience the warmth and culture of the local people. This is exactly what Gaby delivered. From the local market, to trying the some of the best food we have ever had, to experiencing truly unique and jaw dropping local culture and life , it is simply a day we will never forget. Do not listen to the people who say do not go, with Gaby it will be something you will always remember, the people of Tepito showed us warmth, kindness , fun and freindship. We were actually sad to leave Gaby as she kindly walked us out and into the centro area. Gaby thank you for amazing tour and friendship on the day. Whatever the asking price , book it, you will not be disappointed. An easy 5 star for Tepito and Gaby.
Incredible and exciting . The tour is very informative. You get to experience the real Tepito not just what you hear on the news.
Spending 3 hours in Tepito with Lili, who grew up there, was the highlight of my trip to Mexico. She is an amazing guide, fluent in English, who took me everywhere in this historic and infamous "barrio" which has existed since before the conquistadores came. This is the real Mexico City - not a tourist trap. You will see the famous market, the famous boxing gym that spawned champion boxers, the Sainte Muerte altar and you will eat the most delicious street food inside Tepito. Unforgettable and highly recommended.
This experience is very much worth it. Lili was the best tour guide she explains everything in detail and takes her time. Would definitely recommend!
To be able to be welcomed into the heart of Tepito with Nelly was a great experience and one I’ll never forget. Don’t let the sensationalist press and absurd influencer videos about this neighborhood form your opinion. If you’re in Mexico City, take this tour and experience Tepito for yourself
Exceptional experience with a knowledgeable guide to get to know an important part of CDMX. I’ve taken a lot of tours during my stay in the city and this was one of my favorite. Nelly made sure we were completely safe and knew the local etiquette to remain respectful. She shared in depth history of Tepito and shared her stories. The food was delicious and I felt like I got a deeper knowledge of the city by experiencing this neighborhood. Highly reccomend for any tourist trying to get a better sense of the city beyond the Roma/Condesa/Centro circuit.
I went on this tour in Tepito with my local guide Gaby and had a blast! The trip lasted a few hours and I ate amazing food, learned a ton about this neighborhood, and I felt safe the entire time. Everywhere we went someone stopped Gaby to say hi and wish her well; everyone was very nice and I felt at home. If you’re considering taking this tour then definitely give it a try! You won’t regret it, it’s a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the city center. Thanks again for the tour Gaby, I loved it!
Don't let the rest of the internet freak you out -- we felt totally safe the whole time. Lili is a great guide and a genuinely friendly person, plus she helped us buy a couple of things in the market. It was a fun and interesting tour, and there's no way you could do this on your own.
Incredible private tour into the heartbeat of fascniating Tepito with the lovely Gabby, she is so insightful and friendly, it felt like hanging out with an old friend. So much to take in on this often misrepresented part of Mexico. Highly Highly recommended! don't delay, book this tour today!
Tepito Tour was Great! Informative and interesting. Our guide Lili had us feeling comfortable from the start. Recommend this tour if you’re looking for something a bit outside of the average tour sites and to experience something different.
The tour in Tepito was really interesting, it was a nice insight of all the aspects of the history and daily lives of the Tepiteños (the big market, the Santa muerte altar, how people live, the churches, the sports places, the local gastronomy and drinks... The guide Nelly also talked with very good English and was very kind! I would recommend this tour!
It was an honor to visit Tepito and to have Nelly as a guide. Having a fifth generation local show you around is the only way. The tour was full of community history, food, joy and life. And the best michelada I’ve ever had. (The reason we went the first time was for the Santa Muerte shrine, and discovered that everything that led up to that visit was beautiful, from the market to the music to the people- all of it held a fierce joy.) Tepito has a feeling of community taking care of community, of laughter and of partying. Living. It was our favorite experience of Mexico City- so good that we visited again with Nelly two days later. We would have even gone to Tepito again if time had allowed. Truly a magical, fierce place that I fell in love with. Book no other guides than the folks here, they’re the best there is. Thank you Nelly! We will be back again.
Nelly was an amazing person and your guide. Extremely knowledgeable and personable. She is from Tepito and her family has an amazing restaurant there. She will make you feel at home on this one of a kind neighborhood. Strongly recommend this tour coming from someone who doesn't like to take a lot of tours. This is as authentic as it gets, bring an appetite and an open mind!
Barrio Tepito has a history and reputation that may discourage travelers. The tour with Nelly was so positive and informative. We enjoyed seeing so many aspects of barrio life.
I had a fantastic experience on my tour of Tepito. My guide Gaby was very knowledgeable about Tepito as she has lived there all her life clearly having a deep connection to the area. I have to say I never felt in any danger it is clear that all the guides know how to navigate the area well, and are known by locals. I would recommend the VIP tour as you get longer in Tepito- more time to really experience it. I would also recommend Gaby as a guide if you get the chance, she was a very friendly and interesting guide.
I would have never wandered into Tepito on my own. The place is rich in history and culture, though so I've always wanted to go. With Tepito Tours I felt safe the whole time. It was a neat adventure to add to my Mexico City visit. The food we tasted was delicious, the michelada at Lupillo's Micheladas was one of the best I've had. Gabi was knowledgeable of the neighborhoods history and she was even sweet enough to wait with us till our Uber came. I definitely recommend the tour and will probably be going again when new friends come visit the city with me!
Nelly was an excellent tour guide. She waited for me as I was extremely late due to the traffic. She is so sweet and gave me such a good historical background on all the stops from the churches to the neighborhood to the soccer field. It was great to see another side of Mexico
We had an amazing time learning about Tepito, its history and … its food! Our host Nelly was so open and accommodating, sharing her experience while covering the important historical areas of the region. While we wouldn’t return alone, we’d definitely return with Nelly. When people ask about the highlight of our visit in CDMX, our time in Tepito is always the first thing we say.
Unique experience, friendly people and felt very safe, we stayed behind after the tour ended and had some of the best bargains.
Incredible experience! Nelly is a tepito celeb and knows so much about the history and sociological apsects of her barrio in which she grew up in. If youre into learning about the real culture of the people, i suggest taking this tour! Thanks again Nelly!
The Tepito tour was wonderful. Our guide was excellent and offered plenty of insight into the wild world of the market! He had a 6 and 10 year old with us and they had a great time. Our guide took many pictures with her phone and indicated we would be able to get the pictures, but I haven't been able to make that happen - reached out via Viator. Anyway, recommend connecting with her via Whatsapp or perhaps just use your own device for pictures.
We’d visit Tepito and reach out to gabby for our tour every time we visit cdmx.. incredible time w our family .. can’t wait
It was wonderful - our guide Nelly was a fabulous local and showed us things you would never see without a guide. Tepito is worth a visit - the food and drinks were wonderful
Great tour! Got an authentic experience as a local. Was able to customize our tour for our needs, which was going to the market and finding specific item. Went on a Sunday, which was very lively. Great miches!
I had the best time with nelly, felt extremely comfortable, had the best food and beer :) and learnt and saw some amazing things which goes on in Tepito.
I loved the tour of Tepito. My guide was Nelly, and she grew up in Tepito and so, was extremely knowledgeable about the history, culture and socio-economic condition of the neighborhood. I started the tour with a certain (un-educated) perspective and left with a totally different view. The people are wonderful...the food is exceptional and the experience is totally unique. Nelly was a prize!
Amazing walking tour of the unique Tepito neighborhood! Nelly was our fantastic guide who lives there and has family roots going back generations. Maze of vendor booths that require personal knowledge to really experience all. Highly recommended as a different experience in CDMX. Thanks Nelly!
This tour was incredibly safe and offered exclusive access to structures and insights unavailable to outsiders ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Went with Daughter who is 4 and wife. Nelly was our guide. 10/10 l, I'm going to try to doordash her family's delicious soup restaurant which was on Anthony Bourdaine show. Found very nice shoes and ate really, really yummy liver tacos. A statement I never thought I'd have in life but everything was great. Also the Church we saw was one of the prettiest I've seen in the world. From a family from the US, thank you for showing me so much love.
Don't think twice, book immediately. While in CDMX I participated in multiple excursions and tours, hot air ballon rides, food and drink tours, futbol matches and NOTHING came close to this experience. Nelly was my guide for the day and I can't say enough great things. Tepito was amazing, but the real prize was Nelly. She was so kind, patient, knowledgable and made the experience the best tour ever. You will walk the maze of the markets, see the triangle of churches, visit the shrine of Santa Muerte (and maybe meet Doña Queta). The best compliment I can give is that even though I've already taken the tour and seen Tepito, I'd probably do it again! Side note, Migas la Güera is worth the trip alone. It is quite literally the best tour I've ever taken in any country. Thank you so much Nelly (and Gabby)!
Excellent tour of Tepito! I specially enjoyed the drinks, the food and the musicians. Gaby is very knowledgeable about her barrio bravo.
The tour with Nelly was a great experience, she is a great guide and can tell you a lot about Tepito. You will see authentic places that you would never get to know without her. Thank you for the wonderful time.
Traveling to Tepito as a research, travel fellow for my university as a masters of architecture student Gaby was incredibly helpful. We were able to see anything and everything Tito and understand why this part of the city has been so important to Mexico City history this is a must do I would definitely encourage anyone, passing to the city to take time and do this tour. They are amazing and will help you with anything.
I recently did this tour with Gabi and this was easily my favorite thing I did in Mexico City! Gabi was very knowledgeable of the area and she took great pride in showing us the History of Tepito. I felt extremely safe with her as she was born and raised in the area so everyone knew her and said hi as she walked through the market. I highly recommend this tour to everyone as yall will get to see the REAL Mexico City. 10/10 will definitely do this tour again!
I enjoyed this tour a lot. Nelly is a very friendly and knowledgeable of this area because she’s from here. She told me a lot about the history and current of Tepito, we visited a few churches , saw the open market and I also bought some stuff for my phone. We tried local food and local drink, which was refreshing and tasty. The tour was very very safe , she even waited until my Uber picked me up when we finished this tour. I highly recommend this experience to everybody who comes to Mexico City and have not been to tepito. It gives you an amazing opportunity to not only experience tepito very safely with a local , but learn a lot of history about it. Locals were very friendly when I showed up with Nelly. Thank you !!!
So glad i went ahead with this tour. Gaby and Martin were so excellent and friendly, their in depth knowledge of Tepito made this tour such a great experience. You feel safe at all time on this tour; they were there at the meeting point before I was (and I was early!) and they waited until I got on my Uber home. If not for this tour, would never in a million years imagine I could have the experience of going to Tepito and learning so much about it. Muchas Gracias!
We had such a great time touring Tepito with Gaby and Martín. Gaby is a fourth generation resident of Tepito and her family is deeply invested in the history of the area. We learned about art, history, tradition, culture and the people who make Tepito so unique. It’s very much a local’s tour taking you places you wouldn’t have access to on your own. It’s led very sensibly and respectfully and opens your eyes to the city within the city. Absolutely recomendable!
Great! Tour guide very friendly and knowledgeable! Very fun experience would definitely recommend 👍
The tour of Tepito was easily my best experience of my time in Mexico. The tour is led by real Tepiteños who ensure a safe environment. In the tour, they bring you to some great food stalls (where I even bought some really tasty and spicy salsa picante to bring home), show you the market, street art, the stories of La Santa Muerte, etc. The tours are done in small groups (english or spanish) which makes the experience even better. This is an absolute must do while your are in Mexico and is worth every single penny.
This is a great tour that shows a different side of Mexico City. It’s clear that the tours are grounded in the local community and the small group approach is respectful and allows for informative conversations. We learnt a lot and had no safety concerns at all. Thank you!
To be honest, I had always heard about this neighborhood and seen videos on YouTube and Netflix discussing safety and Mexico. However, all I found here were incredibly kind, warm, hardworking, and passionate people who have a deep love for their neighborhood. At the end of the tour, I told Gaby how much I loved the sense of community that you can feel among everyone. The tour was amazing. I felt like I was with an old friend I hadn’t seen in years—the conversation never stopped. I loved the food places we visited. I’m not usually a fan of liver, but I decided to try it, and I have to say, I found the one place where it tastes delicious—I even had two tacos (they're huge)! Additionally, Gaby has always lived here, so she knows everyone and has countless stories that she hasn't just heard, but lived. Having her share those stories with us was priceless. Thank you so much, Gaby and Martin, for such a wonderful experience. You are amazing people, and I will definitely come back for more experiences with you. I highly recommend that no one misses out on this unique part of the city.
Great tour with two amazing guides that make the experience very enjoyable. Gaby and Martin guide you through the neighborhood and share their knowledge about Tepito, its history and culture. They also take you to eat delicious food and give you time for some shopping. We have taken this tour twice and will most likely do it again!
I travel solo and I’ve never been the kind of person who enjoys famous tourist spots. I prefer learning more about underground, even dark local places so when I read about this tour I know I had to go. The guides are very kind and friendly locals who made me feel very welcome. I expected them to only show me a few places but I’ve seen so much and learned so much about Tepito. There’s a very strong vibe of community in this place which I don’t see in my country so it was really magical to experience it. When I come back I’ll definitely get another tour with them.
Gaby and Martin are great guides and make you feel safe and welcome throughout Tepito. We took the food tour and had some of the best tacos and street food I’ve ever tasted. Such a fun and authentic experience and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Mexico City!
My guide was Nellie . What a wonderful person . I absolutely loved her company . She took me all over the area , we ate we drank we ate some more , she showed me so much and even got to meet Enriqueta Romero at the santa muerte shrine. Her knowledge of the area was brilliant. I wasn't too worried about the neighbourhood as I've been to some dodgy places. Tepito I think is very underrated. I found it charming and oozed character and I loved how real it all was . Don't be talked out of it letting people tell you it's a bad thing. If your open minded do it !! One of my highlights after seeing and doing so much in my favourite city .
