I went on this adventure with 5 of my friends and would strongly recommend it to anyone visiting Mexico City. The event consists of beautiful horses, a refreshing jaunt through the upper mountains and forests (+with rivers and waterfalls), and delicious tacos at charming casa and kitchen nestled against a calm, beautiful river. I was particularly impressed with our tour guide, Luis, who was gregarious, friendly, proficient in both English and Spanish, and a generally fun person shepherd us through the national forest. One of our horse's names translated to "little bubbles". I mean, common that's adorable, right?!

Our guides were fantastic. The scenery was beautiful and the tacos were incredible. Highly recommend.
My partner and I had a good time riding the horses through the mountains. We are beginners and felt a little more confident riding toward the end of the experience. I enjoyed trying the different foods once we sat down to eat. Definitely recommend if you’re visiting Mexico City.
We had a wonderful time! The ride starts right in the little town and then you head into the forest. It was the first time for my kids on a house and the guides were very patient and kind with the kids. The horses were calm and very responsive, we had a wonderful and delicious lunch in the little town and then headed back. The guides were so helpful getting beautiful pictures to capture our memories and talking us through everything
I I would absolutely recommend Luis as a tour guide. He made us feel safe throughout the entire experience, from start to finish.
Super calm with no expectations! Hosts were hilarious & very accomodating to the groups needs - a must when wanting to explore outside of the city!
It was an incredible. As a beginner horseback rider, taking lessons back at home, I wanted to experience what it was like to ride like a charro. I opted for hotel pick up which was great since I got to enjoy seeing Mexico City and not stress. Once there, I got fitted with my horse based on my experience and my horse was so beautiful and so calm. We walked through town until we got to the forest and that was magical. Aurelio and Luis were so attentive, always giving pointers/feedback on how to ride like a charro, and also building my confidence as a new horseback rider. The fresh air from the forest, the sounds of the river, everything felt so therapeutic and healing. Then we stopped for tacos and omg- they were amazing. And the chocolate?!?! Wow. I’m convinced that there is no other way to ride if tacos and chocolate aren’t involved in some way. Riding back was such a beautiful breeze, enjoying the sanctuary, hearing Luis and Aurelio’s stories and experiences. They made me feel so safe and secure, like family, while also building my confidence as a rider. I am already planning my trip back here because it’s something you could do again and again and again. Gracias Luis y Aurelio! Me dieron seguridad y confianza- las cosas que me faltaban antes :)
My partner and I had an amazing time on this experience with Luis. From the second he picked us up we instantly headed off. The conversation was great. We got there and the horses looked beautiful and well taken care of. We loved the ride that we went on and the horses were easy to control. We even got to lead some of the trail. If you're an experienced horseback person or even not, this was definitely something worth doing while staying in Mexico City
This was truly one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. Horseback riding through the mountains of Mexico City was absolutely breathtaking, and I learned so much along the way. I can honestly say that I now know how to ride a horse and I don’t think I’ll ever be scared of riding again! I’m so incredibly grateful to Aurelio, Luis, Fátima, and everyone else who was involved. They were so kind, welcoming, and patient with us. They made us feel completely at home, like if we were family and turned the whole experience into something so special. The views were incredible, the experience was unforgettable, and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. I’m leaving with beautiful memories, new knowledge, and so much gratitude. I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Mexico City. 🤍🐎⛰️
We had an incredible horseback riding tour! Our guide was exceptionally attentive and patient, especially since my daughter and I didn't have much experience. The horses were very gentle, and we even stopped for a delicious meal. Everything was expertly organized. Highly recommended!
Had a great time Luis was an excellent guide and made us feel very welcome. The horses were well trained and gave us a very enjoyable ride even though it was the first time for all of us
For me, it was an incredible experience, everything went according to plan, the transfer, an amazingly delicate local lunch, and the beautiful Mexican nature in an interesting part of the city. Along the way, you can see gorgeous dense forests, a river, and breathe in the fresh air. The horses were sweet and calm, which suited me well since I'm a complete beginner. Greetings, guys, and hopefully see you again soon. I enjoyed today, it was fun, and I'm taking home a huge experience. Thank you ❤️🦄🐴
Booked the “authentic experience with a Mexican charro family” and got exactly that — emphasis on authentic. Luis picked me up in Condesa right on time and talked charro culture the entire 40-minute drive up the mountain, which I did not know I needed but fully enjoyed. And the barrio itself is a whole different world from central CDMX — a mountain town with the steepest roads I’ve ever seen, fresher air, and a much more relaxed pace. Life just moves differently up there. Arrived at the stables to find a grand total of one horse present, and Aurelio (Luis’s uncle, absolute legend) mid-way through nailing shoes back onto the other one. So my day began with spectator horseshoeing. Ten out of ten, would watch again. Then the actual riding: forest, mountains, and — for reasons I still don’t fully understand — a stretch down a road in real traffic, which the horses handled better than most drivers. Aurelio walked alongside the whole way playing personal photographer with my phone, so I have receipts. We stopped at a tiny mountain restaurant for two kinds of unreasonably good tacos and a beer split three ways. This is more than a ride. You’ll shoe-watch, road-ride, eat like a local, and get toured around like a guest (or whatever is coincidentally on the agenda). Five stars.
as someone who rides horses often, this was the best experience I had when visiting CDMX for a month. It was such a beautiful landscape in Los Dinamos with great views of the city and it was amazing to see a real charro training session. Charro is so much more than horseback riding, it is an entire culture. It was awesome to learn about it and meet Luis and his awesome group. Please book this (they have a website too). You will have so many amazing memories (and photos taken by Aurelio) to take home with you!
I have to say, I got there with all the excitement in the world and did not disappoint. Amazing experience. Staff was incredible and welcome at all times, very helpful for a new horse rider like me. Deserves 5/5
The trip was amazing. We had a good car ride with Luis, who was very friendly and made us comfortable. The horses were beautiful and well cared for. We rode Guapo and Capulin. The riding was perfect for beginners and the scenery was stunning as we made our way through the valley. This is a great small business to support that wants you to have a good time and treats the horses well. They take great photos of you on the horses to be able to share and remember the adventure. Fully recommend booking a trip with them! Thank you Luis and Aurelio!
Aurelio, Luis, and the boys are one the coolest guys you’ll ever work with. You get to ride horses safely and you also get to have a blast hanging out with them. They’re like a family and you get to be a part of that for a short time. It’s awesome. Highly recommend.
Very genuine Charro experience. Loved the scenery. Amazing direction. Be aware that some experience riding a horse would be recommended but not mandatory. They show you step by step how to handle and ride, but horses are young and energetic. The scenery, is beyond beautiful. Definitely no cell phone service and food at the end is amazing. It was my girls birthday and they even brought her a cake. Very wholesome and genuine tour 10/10 hidden lake and waterfall at the end so bring extra clothes if you want to dip in.
This is a one in a life time experience if you have never been riding before. They teach you about the culture, about how to care and clean the horses. The people, the food, the scenery is breathtaking. Thank you so much for sharing your world with us.
My friend and I joined Luis and Aurelio expecting a wonderful horseback ride through the beautiful mountains outside Mexico City. What we received was so much more. The ride was incredible, but the real highlight was the opportunity to experience the culture, food, traditions, and hospitality of the local people. Luis and Aurelio made us feel like friends from the very beginning, sharing their passion for their heritage and creating an unforgettable day. We left with amazing memories, a deeper appreciation for Mexico, and a new friendship. Luis will be a lifelong friend, and we look forward to staying in touch. If you're looking for an authentic experience, we highly recommend Luis and Aurelio.
Day of I found out that I was going solo since the other group canceled. So that was unexpected, but it was fine. The weather was beautiful. I'm bilingual so that helped. It was just me and the guide, it was intimidating at first getting used to riding a horse, but with help and guidance I got comfortable. They make sure that you are enjoying the experience and build your confidence. I got to enjoy the view, authentic food and hear stories from locals. After eating, the driver took me back to CDMX. Definitely recommend to trying it out!
This was definitely a unique experience! Luis is awesome, super down to earth and genuinely cares about making sure everyone has a good time. He picked us up in the city and brought us to his family’s home in a small town, which already made the experience feel really authentic. One thing I’ll say for future riders: I was a complete novice and expected more of a relaxed countryside stroll… this is NOT that. Don’t get me wrong, I had an amazing time and never felt unsafe, but the ride can definitely get hectic if it’s your first time on a horse. We rode through streets with cars and dogs, and once we got into the woods there were lots of steep uphill/downhill sections. At one point we were rushing to get ahead of another group, which got a little stressful for me as a beginner. That said, watching a different huge tour group struggling with poorly trained horses (including one horse bucking with someone on it) made me really appreciate how well Luis and Aurelio handled our small group. Our horses were calm, well cared for, and they were attentive the entire time. The food stop alone was worth it: absolutely stunning views and honestly some of the best food I’ve had in Mexico. Better than some Michelin-star places I’ve tried in Mexico City. Overall, if you’re adventurous and okay stepping outside your comfort zone a bit, this is an unforgettable experience and an incredible way to spend the day.
An absolutely amazing experience — highly recommended! I booked the tour through Luis, who picked me up directly from the hotel and took care of everything from start to finish. We drove to the village where the tour begins, and there we were introduced to the horses, the village, and given a clear explanation of what to expect throughout the day in a very welcoming and professional way. The ride itself was magical — through a beautiful forest with flowing water and breathtaking scenery. The horses were calm, well cared for, and wonderful to ride. The entire experience was enjoyable, relaxing, and truly special. The team was attentive, professional, and made us feel safe and comfortable during the whole tour. We finished the day with lunch in the village and enjoyed the most authentic and delicious tacos I’ve ever had! I highly recommend this experience to everyone, especially thanks to Luis and Aurelio, who were both incredibly kind, professional, and made the whole day unforgettable. 😊
This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico City. We would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you Luis for welcoming us to your home. We hope to come back in the future!
This was an incredibly fun experience. The guide (Luis) and others working there were all great people, good vibes, and extremely knowledgable when it comes to horses. My friends and I did many activities while in Mexico City, and this experience was by far the best!
We had a lot of fun! The ride was the perfect distance, not too short and not too long. The lunch was fantastic, fresh fish caught right there in a really neat little rural village. Beautiful scenery. Highly recommended!
We had a smooth and exceptionally enjoyable experience. The tour guides are a kind and knowledgeable bunch, well respected in their local community, and provide a completely satisfactory experience. We enjoyed friendly conversation in the car, an informative guide regarding how to connect with and be comfortable on your horse, and an authentic Mexican lunch, along with pleasant conversation once again. This is a must do event if you have yet to experience rural Mexico City.
The experience was truly amazing. You will never find an authentic experience such as this one. We were able to horse back ride more than 2 hours, we started off riding the horses from their home in a rural town, and then after you gain confidence of the horse you enter a forest where you will ride for about an hour and a half. We then ate delicious food where you get to pick what to eat. It’s some of the best Mexican food I’ve had since I’ve been here. This tour I 10000% recommend if you want a real authentic feel. You will also ride solo once you’re comfortable, no one will hold your hand once it’s obvious you are confident in riding. (Only my second time riding, first solo like that)
This horseback experience was the true highlight of our trip to Mexico City. We visited many typical sites(pyramids, zocalo, etc.) and explored famous neighborhoods like Polanco and Roma Norte, even trying Michelin-rated restaurants — but the authenticity, warmth, and food here surpassed all of it. Luis, Aurelio, Tomas, and Uriel didn’t just guide a ride; they welcomed us like family. Their care for the horses, the stories they shared, and the pride they have in their culture made the day feel incredibly personal and genuine. The scenery was peaceful, the experience never felt touristy, and the meal was unforgettable — easily one of the best we had in the city. What stayed with us most was the kindness and connection we felt throughout the day. So much that it was tough saying goodbye. If you want something meaningful rather than just another attraction, this is it. We left with memories we’ll carry for years. A special thank you to Aurelio for welcoming and introducing us to the horses minutes before the excursion was supposed to start.
Luis was an excellent guide and provided transportation between the city and Los Dinamos. His English was very good which helped with communication. The horses were well trained, the scenery beautiful, and the stop for lunch very delicious and as authentic as it gets. Aurelio was very helpful as our horse guide. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone traveling to CDMX!
Such a one of a kind experience. Luis and Aurelio were so welcoming and kind. The pick up and drop off was super helpful and efficient! They were very educated about riding and the area we rode in. They were super thorough in instruction and made everything feel super smooth and comfortable! The location where we rode, The Dinamos, was stunning. I did this by myself and had such a great time with the two of them and the horses! I think it would be an amazing authentic experience for anybody coming to Mexico City.
Amazing trip, the hospitality was great. Everyone was nice special shoutout to Miguel who was a great horse guide and walked us through it and Aurelio was another horse guide who made us feel like family. Luis was also nice and talkative and had great music taste during the drive and let you pick. The food at the end was amazing also, listen to all there food recommendations.
Horseback riding was amazing and the restaurant we went to was delicious! We had a great time. Definitely recommend.
This was one the best tours we have ever done. Luis picked us up from our hotel on time and took us to his family house where we met his uncle Aurelio and his wife, who made us some delicious coffee. Aurelio is an expert about horses. We learned a lot about horses and riding them. Then Aurelio took us to the most amazing tour under tall pine trees and lots of greenery with a beautiful river full of water, amazing waterfalls, just a very peaceful and breathtaking place. After the ride we stop by for luch that was just amazing. Thank you Luis and Aurelio. You guys are amazing.
There are many sites to see in Mexico City but if you want to relax and enjoy nature and horse back riding- this is a must. The scenery is breathtaking in a beautiful wooded park with a stream and waterfall. The best part are the guides, Aurelio and Luis. They welcomed us into their family home and taught us how to ride the horses. They guided us through the trails in the tree covered park and stopped occasionally to take pictures and videos. Aurelio takes the best pics and videos- very professional. We ended the ride with lunch in a local hillside restaurant and had one of the best lunches ever. They explained all the food and how it was prepared. What flavor!! If you have a busy life, job, traffic, etc… and need to de-stress and enjoy nature and the beautiful horses who were so fun to ride, add this to the top of your list of tours. I’m 61 yo and have only ever ridden horses a few times before. This was amazing and I didn’t feel sore afterwards. These guides are the kindest, nicest people I have ever met. They treated us like family. Will always remember this day. Muchas gracias Aurelio y Luis.
We had an amazing time with Luis and Aurelio! Luis picked us up in the center of the city and drove us to the outskirts where Aurelio's family home is. He even stopped at his favorite bakery to buy us a delicious slice of tres leches peach cake! Once we got to the home we started the horse back ride. They took us through the village and mountains, the views were beautiful and it was lovely to be in the forest which was an experience we wouldn't have gotten in CDMX if we didn't do this tour. As two women we felt very safe traveling with Luis and Aurelio. They also did a great job making sure my sister, who had never gone horse back riding before, was comfortable on the horse. After the horse back ride, Luis took us to his two favorite taco spots for some phenomenal tacos! One spot was a very local spot we would not have discovered alone, the tacos there are made in a unique steamed style that is special to the family that runs the shop. The other taco shop was in front of a large school and I loved the bistec con queso taco that also had bell peppers, avocados, and onions. Delicious! Despite it being after dark and kinda of late, Luis took us to these two taco shops and kept us entertained with great conversation and information about Mexico and CDMX. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting!!
This was such a good experience. I ride horses everywhere I travel and this was very special. We had a lot of laughs, good food, and an amazing ride. The horse I rode was the best horse I have ever ridden and I really felt a connection with him. Make sure you wear sunscreen, wear good shoes, and bring a jacket for the chilly days.
A great combination of adventurous and cozy! This nighttime ride was truly exhilarating and relaxing at the same time; perhaps not recommended for those entirely lacking horse riding experience though. The rescue horses were lovely and I loved learning about the cowboys' work caring for them. Thoughtful, local and fun (especially the steep little trails and crossing over a river!) and a very special opportunity to spend some quality time on horseback while learning about the forest. It got very dark indeed, which made it feel super special as I don't get many opportunities for nighttime rides. Luis and Aurelio made me feel very safe and cared for throughout. Extra bonus was the forest-harvested grilled corn and lemon verbena tea together after the ride!
Luis and his father are absolutely incredible. The care they put in to both the horses and curating a great experience for you is unlike anything else. From the moment we met them, we were welcomed as if we were family. The whole experience from start to finish was unforgettable, and I feel like I am walking away having made a new friend!
What an experience! We rode on forest trails through a park and had an amazing lunch at a family restaurant. Our guide Luis picked us up, got us tamales and tyalocos for breakfast and took super good care of us. The master churro (Orellia) was a ham! Good guys, good horses, great food. My only issues were that I expected more of an open mountain ride (as seen in pictures from other horse tours in the area), whereas this was on trails through the woods. I would also say that the terrain was much more gnarly than I expected for new horseback riders. But the horses handled everything well and our “driving lessons” were thorough.
I booked this experience last minute as I was headed to Mexico City hotel from the airport, luckily there was space available my one free day. I was promptly sent email and WhatsApp messages with all the information I needed and more about pickup/what to bring/itinerary. Luis was able to accommodate a pick up at my hotel, very convenient. We drove about an hour to his uncles home and stables where we met his horses. There was only 2 of us booked that time - I spoke only English and the other on the tour spoke only Spanish, Luis did a wonderful job at communication and accommodating us both at the same time to feel informed and included. The day was spectacular, they obviously care so much for the animals and are very knowledgeable. I loved that Luis and his uncle wanted to teach and challenge you with horseback riding skills, I learned a lot and they adapt based on the groups. Beautiful long ride through the forest trails, stopped for lunch the food was the best I had on my Mexico trip, caught my own fish to cook. They captures many beautiful photos and videos for us to go home with, I love having good memories to share especially on solo travel its hard to document. A fun casual day, I wouldn't miss out on this if I was to return - It's special to find genuine and authentic family experiences for those to love to share their passions and life with others. Thank you SO MUCH!
Luis and Aurelio did an amazing job making sure we had a great time, even though it rained a little bit. We got to see another side of Mexico City and had the most amazing tacos, enchiladas, and other authentic food. Luis went above and beyond, from making sure we were comfortable on the horses to providing insightful facts about the area. I would recommend it to anyone!
The best experience I had, if your new to riding or been riding they will make you feel comfortable with them, trust them and everything will be ok, amazing views , it can be intimidating at first but like I said you trust them and the horses will make it worth it
An experience I’ll never forget. We were picked up and brought to one of the best horse rides I’ve ever been on, everyone was so nice and the owner of the horses was an absolute pleasure getting to talk to him. I would recommend to anyone in CDMX and would return if I’m ever back, thank you so much for this wonderful experience ❤️
Luis and his family were so gracious and patient with our crew! The horses were so well trained which helped the more novice riders in our group. The lunch at the top of Los Dinamos was the most authentic and delicious meal I’ve had since arriving. We felt very connected with Luis, Aurelio and “the professor” and especially the horses, which they really try to emphasize the bond between the rider and the horse. BRAVO! Highly recommend this adventure
Wow!!! What a fantastic outing. It was an authentic trail ride through Los Dinamos. The guides were excellent, friendly and gave welcoming and needed advice to a group of beginner horseback riders. A great way to start my 7th decade.
The best adventure we had in Mexico City by far!! Luis and his crew were so kind! They took us on the most beautiful ride … midway we had a delicious fresh authentic lunch with his great family!! We finished the ride going uphill with guides by our side the whole way…. The horses were gentle and calm!! A must do excursion!!
Luis and his family were the nicest most authentic humans with the most wonderful horses. The lunch was unreal fresh and delicious. The horseback riding was in the Los Dinamos mountains and beautiful…this is the real deal with real people in their real community. Thanks for having us Luis, Professor and Aurelio!
This was an amazing experience! Luis, our host, was English speaking and set up everything for us (a ride from the city, lunch, ride back). The team there was super knowledgeable and helpful. None of us, including my older parents, had ever rode horses. They made it so easy and enjoyable. We were never in concern. I would highly recommend!!
Our group has visited CDMX in the past so we wanted to find a unique way to explore the local community. We agreed on horseback riding and found this experience. Luis and his team were gracious hosts and answered our questions through WhatsApp before we started the experience (our group had some concern about rain which didn't happen). They communicated well and gave us the peace of mind. Our experience started at our pick-up location. Luis was super friendly and explained the experience on our way there. Their big priority was our safety and comfort, which we appreciated. Luis and his team were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. Two of the team members even walked the entire trail with us which was several miles, just to make sure we were comfortable. Our horses were treated with much respect and care. I learned that my horse was rescued and rehabilitated under their care (best and most gentle horse). We stopped at a local family restaurant in the mountain trail. We didn't get to cook with the restaurant staff since it was really busy, but it wasn't a big deal to us since we were tired and wanted to relax and enjoy our lunch. Overall, the experience was one of a kind, and beyond any museum or historical landmark tour we've experience. Highly recommend for people who want to see beyond the regular tourist experience and have a lot of appreciation for nature.
