Exclusive Full-day Tolantongo & La Gloria Hot Springs Adventure

This tour was a commitment—but in the end, it was absolutely worth it. We booked with Mictlán Tours because of their excellent reviews and organization, and that choice was confirmed by our guide’s care and communication from start to finish. We waited several years before adding Tolantongo to our Mexico City itinerary because it’s a big day: about four hours outside the city each way. Our tour van picked us up a little after 5 a.m. and dropped us off around 9 p.m. Sooooo…about 16 hours. We don’t recommend a 16-hour tour lightly, so when we say this one was worth it, we mean it. The first highlight is the park itself. We had never been to natural hot springs, so the entire experience was pretty jaw-dropping. The photos you usually see are of the thermal pools stacked along the hillside, but those are only a small part of the park—and, for us, not even the best part. On the La Gloria side of the river, warm pools, waterfalls and caves are tucked into the forest. That was our favorite area. Exploring the trails and caves, soaking in the warm water, and spending the day surrounded by mountains and greenery made the long journey worthwhile. It was one of those travel days that combined adventure, movement and time in nature in the best possible way. If Tolantongo were closer, we would absolutely go back. The other highlight was our guide, Esteban. He is on a very short list of the best guides we’ve ever had. He was completely committed to making sure we had everything we needed and felt safe, with a special ability to always be right there without ever seeming intrusive. He was also incredibly helpful with our gluten-free dietary needs. At the restaurants, he immediately started asking questions about ingredients and food preparation so we could eat safely. That kind of support makes an enormous difference when traveling with dietary restrictions. Esteban has a light, easy manner that put us at ease immediately—and kept us that way all day. Did we mention the tour was 16 hours? If Tolantongo piques your interest, go. Book with Mictlán Tours, and if you get Esteban as your guide, consider that a bonus. It was a long day. An adventurous day. A very good day. And definitely a Healthy Happy Travel day.

Well I usually don't book experience travels because I think I can go out and find my own cheaper faster way without all the gimmicks. This time I was proven wrong, touche! Few days before our trip we got notified through WhatsApp with the rest of the group from the tour which I was pretty nice. The categorized the tour into three segments which was pretty thoughtful and one of them was food requirements and needs. We were picked up as mentioned right on time by two dashing man who we're well inform and educated about the tour we were just about to embark. Everything was wonderful throughout the time we spent at the parks up to the incident where my friend slightly injured himself and needed the assistance of some medical Care. Both the driver and the tour guide were on it guiding us and getting all the Care needed for us to proceed with our trip. We never felt like we were a burden or at least they didn't make us feel like that. When we got back to our hotel at the drop off they were kind and sweet to help us get my friend with the spring ankle back to his room. I definitely recommend this travel group and might even look into doing one more before heading back to Texas. Esteban and Sergio were the bomb! We had the best time with Esteban as our Tolantongo ambassador. He has 6 years experience on this trip and he knew all the best places to go and how to spend our time wisely. He made sure we had all the supplies, food and drinks we needed as well as an amazing Spotify playlist for the road trip. This was a great experience. Our host Steve was amazing, he was well-organized and super accommodating. Throughout the experience he gave clear directions to keep us safe. I really appreciate the knowledge he shared of the land and people. I would describe this experience as a hike, there is a lot of walking and stairs. There were 2 older people in our group, however throughout the trip Steve shared alternative activities they could do to still feel apart of the experience. Be prepared for a long car ride. This would be my only critique, our van was smaller compared to the other vans. I sat in the middle pull out seat (not sure what it's called), i kept switching seats with my partner because the ride back was unbearable on my back. The van would be doable if no one used the middle seats.

3rd time traveling with you. Only this time, we organized a small off-site event to celebrate our team's performance in 2025. Our guide was super knowledgeable and friendly. Perfect tips and awesome English. So talented, educated, very entertaining! He contributed to the celebrations and made our event even more special. You never disappoint!

The entire trip was amazing. The tour guide Carlos was excellent and knowledgeable . They were flexible to pick us up earlier due to the Day of the dead . We had the trip talored to us due to the private car. Would recommend to others

The tour was great, our driver and tour guide were amazing. We were lucky because the rest of the people that were booked moved there tour to another date. So we had them all to ourselves. The experience at the Gloria was amazing, will always recommend this tour.

Had an amazing time, I’m so glad we booked a tour instead of trying to do it on our own. It was so worth it to have all the small details taken care of like where to leave bags, when the head lamp was needed, the temperature of various pool, etc, and know we had the inside scoop on where to go and when, since Tolantango is a big area. Liz, our Cultural Ambassador was friendly, professional, and anticipated all our needs. Our driver Santiago navigated the steep switchbacks on wet gravel expertly. Highly recommend!

This was a great experience and the entire thing was very well organized. They provided clear communication to prepare us for our excursion a few days before we left, which was greatly appreciated since it was an early morning. They provided blankets which made the drive extra comfortable. The two places we stop for food were delicious. Both our driver, Steve, and our guide, Erick, were great! Erick provided was with lots of information about the Hot Springs and the communities that surround them. La Gloria was our favorite and this is the only tour that goes there. It was less crowded, but had beautiful pools of water mixed with a large waterfall that feeds into them. Tolotongo was stunning as well and had great views.

The Tolantongo tour with Steve will live on as one of the greatest tours we’ve ever been on. Not only were the hot springs unforgettable and awe- inspiring, but the caves, waterfalls, and history lessons we got along the way were the cherry on top! Steve was so attentive, knowledgeable, interactive, and kind. This tour is a must do during your trip to Mexico City, you’ll thank me later !! Can’t wait to be back.

This was hands down one of the coolest experiences I’ve had while visiting Mexico, it’s the perfect day trip from the city. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable about the history and culture of the area - I initially booked after hearing about Tolantongo from a friend, but was even more blown away by La Gloria, truly a hidden gem and really special experiences. The tour was also so well structured, everything was so seamless it was very easy to relax at the natural springs. 10/10 a MUST when visiting Mexico City, I will absolutely be back!

The place is just amazing. Our tour guide was perfect and the experience can't compare to any of our previous vacations. We are definitely going back! Steve was super helpful and he seemed very concerned with our safety. Instructions, follow-up, and useful tips were sent to us via WhatsApp the day prior, and the day of the experience, which was perfect. I loved the whole customer service approach. They have strong communication between clients and corporate which made me feel cared for. Mind you, water shoes are a must! I lost a sandal in the caves.

I want to thank you very much for organizing a wonderful tour which I thoroughly enjoyed. This was my second trip and we are already prepping for a third visit. Sadly, I chose a different agency last year and the experience wasn't just as exciting. The guide was kind & joyful but didn't share much about any cultural details. Plus, It was hard to understand him at times. The same can't be said about our guide Esteban (Steve). He was very knowledgeable, had good English, and looked after us very well. So you can imagine how happy I am that I picked you for my second trip. He showed us a second chamber within the bat caves which felt like a well kept secret from tourists and it made the whole experience feel unique. All the arrangements for meals, vehicles, gear, etc. worked seamlessly. I'm definitely coming back. You guys made a difference!

The natural views, thermal pools, grotto and lagoons are absolutely spectacular, and the guide/cultural friend shared valuable information and was always attentive to our needs. What a wonderful day that was, nothing I had to worry about, breakfast, drinks, snacks, food, everything was thought. What to wear, comfortable clothes, water shoes and bathing suit (they carried a backpack with towel, light to see better in the grottos and soap, shampoo to bathe later to eat at ease and return home. Oke yes, 3 hours round trip and 3 hours back but of course to see that paradise, Steve was an amazing person with a lot of talk about Mexican culture, customs and wisdom. Thank you very much for that amazing experience.

The whole tour was amazing! My visit to the Tolantongo Grottoes was an adventure I would definitely do again. It is a destination that combines natural wonder with relaxation and adventure in a unique way. I recommend it if you are looking for an escape from the routine and a deep connection with nature, plus the hosts were very friendly and our guide was exceptional

Absolutely the whole tour was exceptional, the place we visited the coordination of transport, the guide always pending and very friendly, the food, I loved that they gave us accessories necessary to make the experience, especially that they provided us the towel and the water cover for the cell phone. I hope you will soon take tours to more places because I am sure I will travel with you!

I had never visited Tolantongo nor the Glory but Mictlan made everything unforgettable, and the river is the most amazing thing of all! I hope I can come back later accompanied by my family.

I had an amazing experience with Mictlan Tours visiting Tolantongo and La Gloria. The most amazing thing was the hot springs, Everything on the tour was super, plus the food was delicious. The guides were super friendly and attentive all the time, cleared all my doubts and always made me feel confident and although I ended up quite tired, it was totally worth it. I am sure I will travel with you again!

It is a tour full of variety of experiences. You explore, you feel adrenaline, peace, emotion, there is everything. I'd been to Tolatongo once before, once, but only on my own, without a guide. Definitely going it alone we didn't know everything the place offers and we missed a lot. The tour is very well planned, giving enough time to enjoy everything. You definitely appreciate everything much more knowing all the information of the communities that we shared the guide. La Gloria is the next town that literally separates it from Tolantongo a bridge that you walk across. Glory is in a more natural habitat, with less intervention from man, which makes you feel that you connect more with nature. The tour included breakfast, food, drinks and snacks. The kit we were given brought towel, cell phone protector, head lamp to explore and a bottle of water, so we didn't worry about anything. There are several areas where you can only enter with the phone, so it helped a lot that those on the tour kept our backpacks and we did not have to worry about putting them away. It would have been very tired to have to come back upstairs to get our stuff to the lockers. I enjoyed it so much that I forgot to take pictures, even with the phone hanging on the protector. I wore water shoes but very thin sole and there were areas where I felt a lot of stones in the sole of the foot, but definitely in sandals I would not have enjoyed the trip. My husband and son had firmer soles and had no problem. I definitely want to go on this tour again, relax and enjoy it to the fullest!

From the beginning, the trip to La Gloria and Tolantongo was an exclusive adventure that exceeded my expectations. Everything was perfectly organized: comfortable transportation, equipment included. Their services in general make you feel special. My guide was amazing, very attentive and knowledgeable, guiding us through stunning landscapes. We had a little inconvenience at first, as Viator cancelled my booking because of a payment problem, but contacted the tour directly through their Facebook page, and they helped us resolve it. As for La Gloria, the entrance may seem unimpressive at first, but when you get to the heart of the place, the pools and grottos are amazing! The zip line is also an amazing experience! Without a doubt, a tour that I will not forget and that I recommend 100%.
