A magical and memorable day that was unlike anything we had experienced before. Wishing we had longer in the hot tub pools, 1 hour was a bit short. Well worth the cost and getting up so early. I'd do this excursion again.

Awful. I waited an hour at the pickup spot and was never picked up. No communication was given from the company even when I messaged and called them the morning of my pickup. Now its a huge hassle attempting to get my refund from viator for a service I was never provided.
best experience ever!!! we went on the last week of october which was perfect as we learned it is off season for tourists. we got to the park right as it opened and felt like our group had the park to ourselves. we were able to have our own hot spring pool and got so many great pictures. tany was the best guide!! I feel like we were given enough time to enjoy the hot spring portion before getting driven down to the waterfall and Cave area. so so worth it despite the long ride from CDMX. i would 100% do it again
The tour operator kept us updated with pick time and schedule. Information regarding travel time and what to expect was pretty accurate. Both the Guide and Driver was very nice. We had an excellent experience. Text via what’s up day before and day of pick up made it easy.
Gerry was amazing and the driver had Some mad skills made us all fell safe at all times the whole trip was amazing and the caves were the highlight of the trip! Definitely recommend this company
Incredible experience at Tolantongo Hot Springs! The scenery was breathtaking, and soaking in the beautiful turquoise pools surrounded by the mountains was truly unforgettable. The early start was well worth it, giving us the chance to enjoy this stunning place and take in the amazing views. Everything was organised well, making the day relaxing and enjoyable. A must-do experience if you're visiting Mexico City! Highly recommend!
Beautiful experience. The pools felt amazing & were a sight to see. The river was also super nice & calming. The restaurant had some good food & drinks. I only gave the tour 4 stars, because the cave & waterfall were closed so were not able to experience them and we weren’t told this until we arrived at the park. I did appreciate the fact that we got to arrive back in the city by 4pm vs the other tours that doesn’t make it back until 8-9pm.
Picked up right from our hotel at around 4:30 AM and arrived at the springs around 8 AM, among the first groups there. Admission and round-trip transportation were included. The rain gave the place a mystical vibe, and it was absolutely beautiful. We especially loved the river, which was also warm. Our group had 10 people, so the van was packed. The roads are very bumpy, making it hard to sleep during the drive. Breakfast was good and affordable (around 500 MXN for two). We got back to Mexico City around 4 PM, leaving us the rest of the evening free. A special shout out to Carlos (our guide) and Noah (our driver). Overall, a well-worth-it tour and a beautiful experience. Highly recommend!
This was more of just a ride to Tolantongo, less of a tour. Received very little direction on what was next and what we were doing, no real explanation or info on the experience either. The tour guide was nice but we just didn’t feel like it was a true guided experience. Felt more like just a ride there and back. The ride in the back of the van was brutal and uncomfortable both ways. I’d suggest booking a private driver in a more Comfortable vehicle for anyone looking to go. Las Grutas de Tolantongo was breathtaking once we were there. We did the pools first thing, then breakfast at Las Palomas, then swimming in the river. We were not shown to the cave so not sure if we were missing anything there. Waiting until 9:30 to eat breakfast was tough, wish we had coffee and snacks on the ride there to hold us over. We were out of the river at 11:40, departed the park at noon.
beautiful but the cave & waterfall were both closed. We did not know this until we got there. Also it was not convenient to purchase things on site so I would recommend bringing a little provision bag of drinks and snacks if you like. The brunch/lunch was good though, and very affordable. Our guide was wonderful too; he made it better by being so energetic and efficient. Ad for the experience says the van is comfy for napping. Definitely not true. Van rattles loudly and ride is over-the-top bouncy. Almost like the shock absorbers don’t work properly. There were some bumpy roads, but this van was bumping around even on normal/flatter paved roads that should not cause a jerk or bounce like this. My husband bounced so hard one time that he hit his head on the interior ceiling of the van! Overall I’m glad I went; stunning landscape with amazing views, but I would not do it again.
I would highly recommend this tour. The hot springs and river along the canyon are beautiful with clear views of the mountains. We spent about 90 minutes in the hot springs, and about 40 minutes in the river. The tunnels/caves were closed to the public on the date of this tour, however, the experience was still worth it. Gerry was a fantastic host and Mario made the driving experience pleasant.
This is one of the best tours you can do in Mexico City. We went with Mexican Tales . The guides are well experienced and the whole trip is well organised. On this trip you buy your own breakfast, but it isn't expensive.Water shoes and towels are a must
We had to wake uo super early for this tour but it was absolutely worth it. I like that wr got to enjoy the place without crowds since we were the first to arrive.
Great experience! The hot springs, waterfalls and the caves are incredible! Absolutely beautiful scenery. The journey was over 4 hours both ways for us, not the advertised 3 hours - we were picked up from Polanco. The bus could definitely be more comfortable. Aaron was a great guide and very friendly. He took us to a great place for lunch! A good experience, could be made better with more comfortable bus.
Amazing trip! The tour was so well guided and put together. You could turn off your brain and the tour guide had all the logistics handled
It was an amazing experience. We got there early to beat the crowd. Our tour guide Ricardo was very friendly and knowledgeable of the history of the grutas. 100% would recommend! Don't skip on this experience.
It was an absolutely wonderful experience. The express version still gave us plenty of time to enjoy each part of the experience without being rushed. We got back to the city with plenty of time to change and still enjoy dinner. Our guide Eduardo was great. Each part gave us amazing views that were absolutely breathtaking. If you’re thinking about doing it, let this be your sign to book the excursion!
Excellent trip. They are punctual, accommodating, our guide Abril was great. We travel quite a bit and this trip exceeded expectations compared to tour we’ve taken in Europe. Comfortable vehicle. We would 100% do it again. Don’t forget swim shoes, sunscreen and towels!
Gerry was the best guide we have EVER had on a tour. He was so attentive, brought water and snacks for the car ride, took photos all day, and even gave us Polaroids to take home. Mario got us to and from the hot springs safely and smoothly. They were so great, would recommend!
Highly recommend. Our tour guide was helpful and knowledgeable. The hot springs were amazing. Be mindful of the stairs
The trip starts early and it’s a long day, but worth every moment. The views are breathtaking and our guides were fantastic.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Gerry was an amazing tour guide! He made our trip to Tolantongo Hot Springs such a fun and unforgettable experience. He was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the entire day. The hot springs were absolutely beautiful, and Gerry made the experience even better. You can truly tell he cares about his guests and wants everyone to have a great time. I highly recommend booking a tour with Gerry! Thank you, Gerry, for an incredible day and memories we’ll never forget! 🇲🇽❤️♨️
Our trip to Tolantongo Springs was absolutely amazing! The springs, caves and waterfalls themselves are breathtaking and truly feel like something out of a dream. The entire adventure was made even better by our incredible guide, Aaron. He was funny, informative, full of personality, and made the whole experience so much more fun and adventurous. He kept us laughing while also teaching us so much along the way! The ride was comfortable, and our driver was wonderful and very kind also patient and professional. One thing to be aware of is that the drive to Tolantongo is very winding and can be rough on those who get motion sickness lol so definitely consider taking motion sickness medication beforehand. Thankfully, the staff was amazing and continuously checked on everyone to make sure we were okay. Overall, this was such a memorable experience, and I would absolutely recommend it! Beautiful place, amazing staff, and an unforgettable adventure.
Great tour guide, Mich was very nice and helpful. Tried to make sure every guest was accommodated even if they were hard to manage.
Loved the experience, thank you to our guide Aaron and wonderful driver. Timely pickup and got to the site early
We had a fantastic time visiting the Grutas Tolantongo hot springs. This was without a doubt one of the highlights of our trip! The scenery was beautiful and the whole experience was well organised. Our tour guide Raul was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout the entire day, offering to take photos of us and making sure we had everything we needed. Shout out to our driver Hugo too! Highly recommend this tour!
We have such an amazing time on this adventure. Despite the fact that the trip up was at an ungodly hour and a very uncomfortably long ride; it was well worth the trip. Our guide Michel was very nice and very knowledgeable. She shared a lot of tidbits while we hung out in the river. It was an amazing trip!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Experience at Tolantongo Hot Springs! We had an amazing day at Tolantongo Hot Springs. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, and the hot pools surrounded by the mountains are a unique and unforgettable experience. We also really enjoyed exploring the different areas, including the river, caves and thermal pools. A special thank you to our guide, Maria, who was extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. She explained everything clearly, looked after us throughout the day and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The journey is quite long, but the incredible scenery and experience at Tolantongo make it well worth it. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico and highly recommended!
Such a fun, peaceful experience once to the hot springs. Ride was rough just from the bumpy roads and early meet up time
Very organized tour with proactive communication of pick up time the day before, our guide, Ric, explained everything along the way and stayed with us the whole time! Ric’s energy and presence made the experience so much more enjoyable! Our driver was also amazing! 10000/10 experience! Must do when you’re in Mexico City with Mexican Tales!!! Can’t wait to come back!
Experiencing Tolantongo was amazing!!! The ranges and the Grutas were glorious!! I kept thanking God and said a silent prayer praising Elohim for His wonderful creations, as my Son and I soaked in His mineral waters while looking out across the mountains. Our guide, Ara, took such good care of us and made us feel welcomed!!! She made sure we were safe and comfortable the whole trip. She even took pics for us on her phone and sent them to us, as we didn’t have plastic cases to protect our phones from all the water. The driver was great too!!! He got us there and back safe and sound!!! Nice experience with Mexican Tales. Thank you, Ara and driver!!! Grateful!!!
Fabulous day and opportunity to bathe in thermal pools, explore caves and river. Well guided by Maria and although a long journey, was well worth the early start! Make sure you bring a good waterproof case for your phone!
My experience with Mexican Tales was fantastic! I loved that they picked my hubby and I so close to our hotel in Mexico City for this exciting trip to Tolantongo . Our guides were knowledgeable of the area and they took us to a fantastic spot within this beautiful water park to have food. The fee is more than fair and the amount of time spent was great. I appreciated the enthusiasm by the guide and the driver. I would book again.
María the guide and Raul the driver were excellent. Hats off to Raul and his driving skills.
One of the best day trips I've ever had in my life. The tour guide was amazing, the hot springs, the cave, and the river were all amazing and incredibly worth it. Breakfast at the restaurant was great too :) All in all it was a 10/10 experience and I'm so glad I booked it.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! A huge shoutout to our tour guide, Maria, who went above and beyond to make our trip unforgettable. She texted us the day before our tour with all the details, including our pickup time and everything we needed to know, which made us feel prepared and excited. Our driver, Raul, arrived at our hotel exactly on time. He was an excellent driver, and we felt safe and comfortable throughout the entire journey. Maria was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the history and culture of every place we visited. She was always nearby to answer any questions and made sure everyone had a great experience. She also took the most amazing family photos for us, which made the trip even more special! We truly had a fantastic time and couldn’t have asked for a better team. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a memorable experience. Thank you, Maria and Raul, for making our trip so incredible—we would definitely do it again!
It was an amazing experience! Very beautiful! I loved the places and guide Gerry was very helpful and driver Raúl was very careful driving. And I liked that it wasn’t very long tour, because if it’s very long day it can become overwhelming and tiring. But this tour was just perfect! We had a chance to soak in hot springs, see the river, cave and tunnel. Be careful in hot springs, because it’s slippery. I brought my phone and meta glasses in hot springs, but cave and tunnel is waterfall above you, so I put my phone in waterproof case and didn’t bring my meta glasses. It was very refreshing in the tunnel 😍. My son and I loved everything a lot! We were back at our hotel around 4-5pm. Which is great!
Amazing experience made possible by the tour guide Michele and driver. You can trust them for a good experience.
Highly recommend this experience, my family and I had a phenomenal time even though we had to wake up really early for it. The hot springs were gorgeous and barely had people in the early morning, the caves were our favorite part, and the river was a great way to relax before heading back. Shoutout to Ricardo, our guide!
Ride arrived on time for pick up. We had good guidance around and arrived back safely. Tolontango is gorgeous.
Smooth from beginning to end. Excellent tour guide at a beautiful place
The early wake up and long drive is worth it! The views are incredible. Maria was our tour guide and she was great and even gave us a cute picture she had taken of us at the end which was a very nice touch.
Great experience, just know to please wear some water shoes. Do not wear flip flops, you will be sorry! 🤣🤣 You will walk in caves and waters where sharp rocks will be present. Also know you will walk a lot of steps, so be ready. But it is all fun and beautiful. Enjoy!
Stunning location. Fun family experience. The views were spectacular, the caves with waterfalls were amazing.
Awesome experience. Glad we got there early. Had a nice time in the pools with very few people. The best part is the caves for me. Left on time back to the city. Traffic experience may vary.
This was everything you could ask for from a trip to Tolantongo. A nice hour in the pools (not especially hot, but warm to fairly warm from the natural hot springs). But the highlight is the waterfall and cave. The mouth of the cave just dumps hot water on you and it’s a great relaxing experience. Make sure to do the side cave in the mouth of the main waterfall (bring or borrow a flashlight, it’s completely dark) before exiting and going to the “official” cave. Then a nice dip in the warm river. Michelle was a great and knowledgeable tour guide who handled a bilingual tour (Spanish and English) with ease, jokes, and a ton of local info. And she was well-prepared with tips, snacks, and info so you know what to expect. Couldn’t ask for a better guide!
This was an absolute magical experience! We came to Mexico City for a week of celebration and this was the PERFECT way to end our trip. Gerry was an amazing, caring and knowledgeable guide and made sure to teach us all about the sights. He was also patient with us and making sure we were always comfortable and taken care of. I highly recommend booking this trip and hope you get Gerry as your guide. Juan was also a fantastic driver and we felt safe the entire time. 10/10 experience!
This was a really great experience. It is an early morning, but it is worth it to avoid the traffic and get to the pools early. We arrived and there were hardly any people, so it gave you an opportunity to get pictures and be alone. Our guide was good and helpful the entire time. He showed us the different areas. We really loved the cave and the waterfall. It was the best part of the trip. Our guide also took us to a more secluded part of the river so that we could swim in it alone. Overall, it was a great trip and highly recommend.
I booked this experience well in advance. Although my hotel was not included on the pickup list, the company agreed to pick us up at my hotel in the historical district. The night before, the guide messaged me to confirm pickup at a location near my hotel. I told her that pickup had been arranged at Umbral Hilton. She asked for proof so I sent her a screenshot of the confirmation. She didn’t respond but I received a message from the company that their “policy had changed” and they were no longer picking up in the historical district due to road closures in the area (due to the World Cup game that was two days away). I understand the rationale, except there were NO road closings at 430 in the morning when the pickup time was and the road my hotel was on was never closed. The other issue that took place was with the driver. We went over a bump so hard that everyone flew out of their seats. I was wearing a seatbelt and my head still hit the ceiling. Hard. The guide was sweet, but not very knowledgeable. She didn’t tell us anything about the thermal pools except that the pools that were higher up were warmer. She was great when we went to the cave and stayed with us in the water, holding a flashlight for us in the dark sauna cave. On the way back to the van, my partner and I got stuck behind some ppl who were walking very slowly. The guide didn’t wait for us and we wouldn’t have been able to find her if we didn’t What’s App her. I was lucky that my phone wasn’t dead. I’d been using it for pictures. Tip: Expect a rough drive the entire way. Tip: Bring a cover up and a towel.
I was picked up at my Airbnb really early (4am), and we quickly got on the road. Our group size was 10 people plus our awesome tour guide Gerry and driver Juan, and the van was perfect for us. I was able to sleep all the way to Tolantongo after picking up everyone and woke up ready to start our day. The activities were perfectly timed (although I probably will book a night at the hotel next time). Our tour guide Gerry gave us a time and place to be ready by so we could enjoy all parts of the trip. I would encourage you to bring cash for the souvenirs, you can use your card for breakfast. If your swimsuit has pockets/zippers, I'd bring extra for some of the stores along the way. You'll be back at your place by 4:30/5pm so you can enjoy the rest of your evening in CDMX.
