Itinerary
Start with two tacos and a traditional drink (café de olla or agua fresca).
See the Fuente de los Coyotes and the historic church. This plaza is where Coyoacán's identity as a town, not a suburb, still shows.
Taste pozole and classic antojitos at the market's food stalls. This market feeds the neighborhood daily, it isn't staged for tourists.
Explore Coyoacán's main square and historic town hall. Frida and Diego's Coyoacán, and today's, both center on this square.
Taste roasted cacao, then chocolate made from it on a century-old grinder still in use. The process, not just the taste, is the point.
Explore a local market, sample seasonal fruit and, optionally, edible insects from a multi-generation family stall, along with quesadillas, traditional Mexican drinks, and Mexican snacks.
Stop for a quick look and photo at a colorful mural dedicated to Frida Kahlo.
Arrive for your reserved entry time; your guide helps with entry, then the museum is self-guided.

Well informed and relaxed trip, with plenty of food. Come hungry!
We had a fantastic tour with Alisa with a great variety of specialty foods in Coyoacan! The tour not only includes several stops for delicious tacos, drinks, and pozole, but also a private chocolate tasting, and exploring a mercado for a tasting of grasshoppers and other insects! Alisa entertained us throughout the walk with the history of Coyoacan and Friday Kahlo’s life story. The tour concludes with the famous Frida Kahlo Azul house. My wife and I both highly recommend this tour with Alisa. You won’t be disappointed!
This tour provided amazing food and history. We enjoyed learning about local foods and enjoyed eating at several family-owed food stalls. We left with our bellies full and happy. Alisa was a great guide and we learned a lot from her.
Fantastic Coyoacán Tour with Alisa! We booked the Coyoacán walking tour with Sherpa Tours and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico City. Our guide, Alisa, was knowledgeable, warm, and clearly passionate about the neighborhood's history and culture. She brought Coyoacán to life, from the colorful streets and the Frida Kahlo house area to hidden local spots we never would have found on our own.
Alisa was a great guide! We learned a lot on our Frida Kahlo tour, tried some unique foods at restaurants, shops, and markets, and walked through a very colorful part of the city.
What a great tour!! So. Much. Food. Tacos - churros - pozole - chocolate - insects - queso y postre - quesadillas. Estoy gordita!! Alisa was such a great guide, sharing some history of the neighborhood and the story of Frida and Diego. We moved fast from spot to spot and met wonderful vendedores. Highly recommend - come hungry!
The tour with Alisa was amazing! You get the chance to try lots of very good Mexican food while learning about the culture and Frida Kahlo. I really recommend going!
Had a wonderful time with Alisa, we tried so many different Mexican dishes and drinks, and learned a ton about the Coyoacán neighborhood! Highly recommended and would do it again!
It was a wonderful experience. Alisa was a perfect tour guide we learned a lot about mexican food and Frida Kahlo. We really really enjoyed it :)
To begin with, I want to say that it was a great experience that I would repeat in a heartbeat. What impressed me most, besides the food, was the tour guide. Her interest in the history of the place was evident, not just as a job, but because she enjoys it. She has a great command of her subject and I thought it was excellent. And well, the best part of the whole tour was that scorpion I ate, in addition to the chocolate. Excellent service, and I think they are the best option I could have found. If anyone from the staff is reading this, thank you very much and congratulations on such excellent service
The tour was amazing! The first place was great, and from there it just kept getting better. We had tacos, churros, a chocolate tasting, an exotic tasting, and so much more. Alisa, our guide, was also amazing! She told us so many interesting things about the neighborhood and Frida Kahlo, and you can really tell she knows a lot about the area and its history. Everything was great, and I would definitely recommend this tour if you’re planning to visit the Frida Kahlo Museum and want to explore the neighborhood .
I had a delightful culinary journey in Coyoacán, Mexico City. Alisa, who was the guide, was always kind and explained Mexican food and history well. I recommend this for those who want to look at Koyoakan more meaningfully!
The food tour experience in Coyoacan was very good. The guide Daniela was attentive to our requests the whole time and knows a lot of historical facts about the area.
I was very pleased with the tour. I have lived in Mexico City for a long time, and it's hard to surprise me with something new. But this tour of Koyokana really inspired me. I love Frida Kahlo, I liked that we went through the historical places. Learned many new facts. The chocolate tasting was impressive, and especially the trip to the market!! They showed us hidden spots at the local market, it was very delicious. The food was more than enough, I liked the selection of historical places in Koyokakan, and the guide is very pleasant. I really recommend this tour
The best tour to get to know Coyoacan. With the best food spots and the explanation of Frida's history, Alisa made it super interesting. Thank you!
Alisa was an exceptional guide, all the food was wonderful, the rajas tacos and the pozole were delicious. It is an experience that you can do even if you are from the city or the country, because you keep learning things about Coyoacán.
I really liked the tour, it was a mix of food and history, of Frida and the Coyoacán neighborhood! There was a chocolate tasting (my favorite part)😍 and the guide was super cool, telling the stories with sparkle in her eyes, conveying enthusiasm for Frida's life gossip, especially the romantic ones lol I felt that the time between food/stories was well distributed, I finished super full! I loved the tour and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get to know more about Frida, Coyoacán, and typical Mexican food!!🥳🫶🏻
I loved this tour. The food places we visited were incredible and feel very local. 🇲🇽Also, the attention from the people at each place was very kind. I learned a lot about the history of Coyoacán, in addition to learning more about Frida's tragic and beautiful story. 🥹 My favorite part was visiting the chocolate shop. There they explained to us where the cacao comes from and let us taste different types. Also, they have very Mexican flavors, like guava pulque, which I thought was a super unique experience that complemented the whole tour very well. It is definitely one of my favorite tours. ❤️ Many thanks to Alisa for making the tour feel like a super entertaining conversation; now I see Frida with different eyes! 😁❤️
It is a very entertaining tour! The food is very delicious and traditional, plus there is a lot of history about the neighborhood and Frida so that when you arrive at the museum you are already prepared. My favorite stop was at the market, and it helps to walk from one stop to another so you don't end up too full!
Without a doubt, I highly recommend this experience for the magical streets and corners that Coyoacán has. All the food stops were delicious and in very classic places. Also, the way they tell you the story of Frida is very immersive and makes you enjoy the tour more.
The other day I went to try this new sherpa tour and I loved it! Alisa, the guide, knew all the gossip about Frida's life told in a great way, and the rajas tacos with cream at the beginning along with the café de olla are a combo that I still think about a lot these days. We also went to a chocolate shop that OMG how well they do their job, I loved trying chocolate with guava pulque. The experience was incredible, the places we visited and seeing people's faces when we tried a scorpion. It was really cool :) I recommend it
