George was fantastic!! We can’t recommend this tour enough :) one of the best things we did in Mexico City. Georgie gave us such a good overview of Mexico and its history!! If you do anything do this tour!
Professor Jorge was an amazing guide. His background in history and anthropology combined with his humor and true love of Country made him the perfect guide. Wealth of knowledge and open to dive deep into historical context really helped set the stage for tour and helped us gain deeper insight. We walked a way with a desire to learn more and even asked him for book recommendations. A must for anyone who appreciates history.
We cannot express how wonderful this experience with Jorge was, and I said experience because it was more than a tour but a full day with an expert of the history of Mexico going back 7 centuries, not a small feat! Jorge made us feel at times like we were getting an A+ lecture in a prestigious university, they way he related each pivotal point in history, and others like we were sitting in a park with a grandparent telling us the stories he grew up learning from his ancestors. We knew so little about Mexico and left knowing so much that now I have taught a thing or 2 to family back home. We also loved this was a private experience, it felt so personal and allow us to slow down or speed up as we needed. The anthropology museum is so vast but experiencing with Jorge made it so much easier to appreciate and learn the most important parts of it. I have done other private tours at museums before and also visited museums on my own, but this is for sure the way to go if it's your first visit, it opens you up to so much history and appreciation of what you see.
First, the good: communications up front with Jorge via WhatsApp before we arrived was strong. He also got us bottles of water mid-tour. We got to see both the Castle and the Museum. Then second, the experience itself, which was far from good:: We had an expectation that with a private tour, we would be able to set the pace with our guide while also engaging together throughout the experience. This was not the case. Jorge has a theatrical, lecture-toned, extremely verbose communications style which was surprisingly inflexible (even after we told him that we had already done much research about the locations and wanted a quicker pace - our group was simply two adult couples). He spent the first 5-10 minutes upon greeting us with an affirmation of his 98% approval rating on reviews, citing the reason why 2% of his guests gave him bad reviews was due to mis-expectations. So then, he went on to explain what he felt the expectations were. His touring style is to stop, give a lecture of sorts, always in a circumlocutory way. When we tried to ask questions, he would answer with an extremely protracted set of words which might get to an answer eventually. (Ironically, the next day we learned from another guide a bunch of information that actually contradicted some of what Jorge told us from a historical accuracy standpoint). The tour was structured such that it was 50% this and 50% of solo time exploring the Castle then Museum. Due to this approach, 75% of our time was spent leading up to and seeing the Castle. Unfortunately, there were several miscommunications we had throughout the whole tour that made things even less pleasant that it already was. His approach also left us all uncomfortable not only because of how he communicated but because he was very “touchy”. (Both men/women did not like this). Sadly, this experience was a disappointment. Perhaps he was just having a very bad day.
Since this was our first visit to Mexico City, we knew that we wanted a guided tour of the museum of anthropology and the castle. Jorge’s extensive knowledge and engaging manner was the perfect introduction to Mexico City’s amazing history and culture!
We had a great experience...because Jorge is a great guide! He clearly explained all of the "sites" we visited but what was most impressive was the his knowledge and clear explanation of the history and significance of those items. Be aware that there are times when you are on own and you need do your own investigation and thinking. However, Jorge is always ready to answer any questions you might have! All in all, this was a great tour with a great guide!
Jorge did a really wonderful job of relaying the history of the area, both ancient and modern. He is enormously proud of the country, and passionate in his teachings. We found Jorge to be an interesting and engaging person in general, which made our tour very enjoyable. We were referred to him by another couple, who felt the same way !
Very interesting and fun way to spend an afternoon! My guide Jorge was very enthusiastic and had so much to say to add to each experience. His attention to detail was really a nice addition to what I saw. I learned so much and would recommend this tour! Wear good walking shoes! Thank you!
Jorge , our tour guide , is very knowledgeable and makes the tour educational and interesting. Highly recommend.
We were amazed by the beauty of the gardens and the Lion’s Gate sculptures. The walk was long from the gate to the castle. The route was unevenly paved which made the wheelchair ride uncomfortable. Our guide was patient and there were benched for times we needed a rest. The elevator to the castle was out of service so the gentle uphill walk was a test. But the castle did not disappoint. The views from the balconies were jaw-dropping. The grand entry with its chandelier and staircase was stunning. The room designs, furnishings and royal accoutrements were splendid to view. The official and royal carriages were beautifully elegant and the life size portraits were worth the trip.
This tour focuses mostly on Chapultepec Castle and Forest. Jorge is a highly knowledgeable and kind tour guide who encourages questions. Your understanding of the history of Mexico City will be greatly enhanced by visiting the castle. The urban forest is large, so it takes awhile to walk between the Castle and the Museum. This gives you time to see some of the beauty and diversity of the Forest, but it doesn’t leave much time for the Anthropology Museum. This isn’t a complaint; it’s just something to be aware of. By the time we got to the Museum, we only had time to talk about 4 artifacts. I expected a full hour in the museum but there wasn’t time for that. I would suggest booking this tour in the morning so you have the whole afternoon for the museum. I also would suggest pairing it with a guided tour of the museum if your goal is to spend several hours there. Most of it did not have signage in English.
Jorge our tour guide was a treat. Loved his passion for history. He made the tour really come alive. Five stars! We learned many things about Mexican history that were new roof us
Jorge is a bona fide expert on his material and he delivers his stories with energy and genuine enthusiasm. Listen carefully and he will first set the expectations and then deliver exactly what he says he will. We left the tour with a better timeline of the Mexican historical experience.
We are very unhappy with this tour. Once we got to the archeological museum it was 4:30. The museum closed at 5:45. George was unwilling to accommodate our request to see museum at our arrival. At 4:55 we told him we had less than hour to see the museum and he stormed off. We believe that taking a private tour for $370 should accommodate our needs. All along the way we were told it had to be done his way. Storming off after we patiently waited for him to finish his soliloquy was over the top and left a bad taste in our mouths. We have many tours with your company and were very satisfied but this was unacceptable.
The guide was very knowledgeable, but this tour is not a good fit for families or anyone needing flexibility. Although we booked a private tour to see and learn about the castle and the Museum of Anthropology, it felt more like a long history lecture than an interactive tour. After standing outside the castle for about 45 minutes, our kids (ages 7 and 9) were running out of steam. When I asked if we could adjust or move on, the guide refused to adapt and instead repeatedly told me I should have read the full tour description more carefully. There was no attempt to tailor the experience, despite it being a private tour and despite our visible disappointment. We ended the tour after about an hour because the children were so upset. I’m writing this review simply to make other families aware that this is not the right tour if you’re traveling with kids or need flexibility.

Jorge is a knowledgeable, personable, and fun guide. We both thoroughly enjoyed our tours of the Chapultepec Castle and Museum of Anthropology. We recommend Jorge to anyone interested in history and learning more deeply about these sites.
My family and I were very enriched with this tour. Jorge is a human history book. He is a kind and warm person and very knowledgeable and well educated about the history of Mexico. The tour lasted a little over three hours. We began at Chapultepec and ended at Museo Nacional de Antropologia. There is some walking involved so bring comfortable shoes. There is something I would have liked done differently though. Most of the tour is about Chapultepec. I would have liked 50% Chapultepec and 50% Museo Nacional de Antropologia. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this tour.
Our family had the most incredible visit to Chapultepec Forest, Chapultepec Castle, and the Museum of Anthropology with Jorge yesterday. We travel frequently and opt for private tours whenever possible and we LOVED this tour. Jorge offered so much insight into the history of Mexico City and the interplay between Mexico City, Spain, France, and the United States. We have an 8 year old and he enjoyed the tour as much as us! We cannot wait to come back and tour with Jorge again in the future.
Jorge is a wonderful guide with a superb grasp of the historical timeline relevant to both the Castilo Chapultepec and the spectacular exhibits in the Anthropology museum. He is both interesting and fun. To be honest, the afternoon tour really didnt allow us enough time to do the Anthropology museum justice. After Jorge left us...we stayed until closing. But it wasnt enough. We returned the next day to fully immerse ourselves in all the museum has to offer.
Jorge was wonderful! Very knowledgeable about the history of Mexico, its culture and its people. He way of explaining history is animated and enthusiastic which made it so easy to stay engaged. Great tour, highly recommended.
Great local guide who was passionate about the history of these sites. Also nice to have time in between sites for individual viewing.
Jorge is friendly, accommodating, and very knowledgeable. This is a good tour to provide an overview of Chapultepec Castle and the Anthropology Museum next-door. Jorge fully admitted, and we agree, that once this tour is over, you should schedule enough time to wander and see more on your own.
Jorge was very knowledgeable and passionste about the Mexican culture and history through the centuries. We learned so much about the Chapultepec Castle and the Aztec room in the museum of anthropologie.
We booked a private tour with Jorge. He was so knowledgeable about Mexican history and gave excellent context to the things we were seeing. He was very clear about what to expect and his pacing was excellent. When we go to the anthropological museum he really lit up, as he was one of the experts who worked on categorizing and curating some of the collections. Jorge is very passionate about his work and this was a wonderful tour. Lots of walking, so wear comfy shoes! Highly recommend!
Jorge is extremely knowledgable and was very invested in making sure we grasped a chronological understanding of the Mexican history he was teaching us. Having an expert teach you in depth requires strong focus and attention, so if you want a more freeform style, you may prefer a different kind of tour, but I really enjoyed Jorge's insightful presentation of the information. We did get a lot of free time to explore on our own, and I liked ending at the Museum of Anthropology.
The tour was outstanding. I would highly recommended Jorge if you want to have a good lesson in Mexican history. The castle and museum were wonderful to tour through. There is a bit of walking involved, but nothing too strenuous. And a very reasonable price. Thanks Jorge!
This was a great way to get a quicker guided tour of the 2 popular places- our guide Jorge was very knowledgeable and informative and explained the history of the castle and afterwards the aztec section of the museum very well. Glad we went with a tour
Jorge was personable, approachable, and funny. He answered all our questions in a way that was easy to understand. He provided facts, historical timelines, and honestly, I learned much more than I would’ve on my own.
Jorge was a thoroughly knowledgeable guide and his previous roles in teaching reinforced this! Jorge was passionate about his city and this shone through during the visit to Chapultepec castle and the Museum of Anthropology. We managed to get through a lot of history associated with the 2 places visited and it was an enjoyable and educating tour. Thanks Jorge.
Our guide Jorge was fantastic! Very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, personable and professional. His university teaching background gave us deep insight into Mexican history. Most highly recommended!!
Jorge is very professional, punctual and knowledgable. He explained the history in great detail and gave us free time for photos. I highly recommend him.
Jorge was amazing! He possessed a wealth of knowledge about the Aztecs, Chapultepec Castle and overall Mexico history. Jorge did a fascinating job explaining the history in a digestible manner. He was personable, friendly and overall an excellent guide. I would highly recommend this tour!
This was one of my favorite tours of our trip! Jorge was so kind and knowledgeable, I really learned a lot and highly recommend. Definitely book this tour!
Tour guide snapped every time we ask for something. Was not very friendly. Very impatient with guests. His English was not too good.
We feel badly about giving Jorge two stars because he is so knowledgeable. However a guide needs to connect to his guests. He did not. This was theater for him where he controlled our experience and really did not want any questions or interactions with us.
Jorge is a passionate teacher and scholar who gave us the context to better understand the history of Mexico. He is a very funny, warm and engaging tour guide. Highly recommend.
George did a great job. Very knowledgeable guide. His history overview was outstanding We had great time !
We had a great time with Jorge, he was very detailed in all aspects. He showed us the bosque in Mexico City with beautiful views and history. Saw the stunning Chapultepec Castle, and took us To the museum as well.
Chapultepec park trip with Jorge was great. He was very enthusiastic and friendly and knowledgeable. excellent tour would highly recommend.
Our guide Jorge Bromell was just awful and should not be used again for anyone's tour. He had a set presentation and would not deviate from it. In other words, if he was asked a question he would not answer it and said his answer would have to wait until he got to that point in his presentation. Sometimes he never answered the question. He was completely inflexible, told rambling irrelevant stories about himself and other issues and was very dramatic in his story telling.. He made us sit down to listen to him which wasted a great deal of time. He should have been able to talk as we walked. He spent almost no time with us in the Anthropology Museum and did not accompany us into the Chapultepec Castle. At $144.94 for the two of us this tour was very overpriced and Mr. Bromell was very irritating to listen to. I was very glad when the tour was over. I don't like being so negative about another person but I wouldn't want other to be subjected to his tour.
The tour guide is Jorge. He is a professor with deep experience in United States and Mexico with a diverse background that includes Europe. If you want a tour that is, as Charles Goodwin would say, “the rest of the story,” take this tour. We really enjoyed learning more than what is typical surface level stories told about history. I have always wondered about certain historical stories and Jorge has given some excellent background and perspectives that are more logical, tangible and realistic. It’s fascinating how religion, politics, and wealth can modify facts to suit. Jorge will provide a balance of 1:1 tour guiding and allowing self-touring. We enjoyed this balance. this tour covers both the Chapultepec Castle (aka Mexico History Museum) and the Anthropology Museum. Starting early is a perfect strategy since both sites are very popular and there are longer lines starting 11am. Pay attention to the guidelines NOT to bring water and food into the museums. the Antrhopology Museum has a bag check in the event you must have water and food close by. Thanks for the wonderful, eye-opening tour, Jorge.
Tour guide was phenomenal. Well educated and professional. He hit the most relevant aspects of tour.
Jorge is filled with passion when retelling the history of Mexico! We absolutely loved the crash course before visiting the Chapultepec Castle. The views were outstanding. We enjoyed hearing about Jorge’s connection to the Bosque de Chapultepec and our next stop, Museo Nacional de Antropología. After Jorge left us with a few very important key points about the museum, we stayed the rest of the day to take it all in. Jorge has so much knowledge and loves to teach others, we had a wonderful morning with him! Thank you my friend! ❤️
It was a wonderful and informative tour Jorge was incredibly knowledgeable and eager to share Lots of uphill walking but really no problem I would recommend to everyone
So informative - learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Jorge had a way of bringing history to life. Highly recommend!
This tour was so informative. Jorge taught us so much history. We would definitely book this tour again!
The tour was amazing and the tour guide did an excellent job. I would recommend this to anyone who’s visiting Mexico City. Thanks Jorge!
The castle was probably the best part of our trip to CDMX! You absolutely can’t go home without seeing it. The Anthropology Museum is also a must see, but this tour only covers 1 room of the 6-8 exhibit rooms in the museum. We self toured the rest of the museum at a later time. Jorge, our guide, was VERY knowledgeable; he was a former university professor. He was very friendly too. Only nitpick would be it’s more of a lecture than it is interactive. It was still great, but if you have kids with short attention span, it may be difficult. They will love Chapultepec Castle much more than the Anthropology Museum.
