Anthropology Museum Guided Tour

We really enjoyed our tour with Gerson. He’s extremely knowledgeable and to us to all the best places in the museum before they got too busy..

There is so much to see! Definitely use a guide. I learned so much about pre-Hispanic Mexico from Jorge. He was easy to understand and knows his subject. After the tour with him, I spent another 2.5 hours in the museum.

Leonardo made our tour exceptional. He bought perspective to exhibits that I would normally glance at and walk on. This tour is a perfect introduction to Mexico city and how she became the metropolis that she is....a city of high energy and calm people. Quite refreshing for a New Yorker.

Adam was so knowledgeable and helped transporr us back in time with his vivid descriptions and historical acumen. Well worth it! Highly recommended.

Jorge Mendoza was an excellent guide at the National Museum of Anthropology. He was extremely knowledgeable, engaging and genuinely passionate about Mexican history. He did a wonderful job helping us understand the development of Mexico’s ancient cultures, from their earliest beginnings more than 10,000 years ago through the rise of the major civilizations and, eventually, the arrival of the Spanish. He made an enormous amount of history interesting, understandable and easy to follow. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and highly recommend Jorge to anyone visiting the museum.

3 adult family members in our private tour with Fernando! He was waiting for us when we arrived, holding a sign with my name. He was very friendly and engaging, and so knowledgeable and passionate about Mexican history. He kept us moving through the exhibits, but didn't rush us, guiding us through the high points of the museum, explaining them very clearly. He gets an 11 out of 10 from us. Afterwards we kept talking about how much we enjoyed this tour. Needless to say, highly recommend!!!

From the start we were delayed because of a marathon in the area. Jorge was very easy to communicate with, understanding and didn’t begin the tour until we arrived. Alicia was an incredible tour guide! She made all of the history and lore seem incredibly interesting and we were so locked in and eager to learn more, even after a long day of travel. I highly recommend booking this tour, because otherwise the museum itself is too overwhelming.

Museum was more than what I expected. Sal was a great guide. Very knowledgeable to the different time periods/era. 2.5 hours was not enough but we had time to after to wander.

English version was well understood. Knowledge of content was excellent. Walking pace was slow and winding thru all the exhibits. Sal was a great speaker

Massive museum, a very good starting point to understand the breadth and history of Mexico. Our guide Arturo was very engaging and expressive! Be warned, almost the signage is in Spanish. If you meet him, ask him about his current passion on reviving ancient Mexican sports :)

The tour guide was very energetic and excited in explaining the history of the various cultures back over 3000 years. You cannot see all of the time periods and peoples in one tour. You must go and see how advanced they were.

I really appreciated Alicia’s enthusiasm! This museum is huge so obviously you’re not going to be able to see it all, but through this guided tour, Alicia helped you to see the ‘must see’ exhibits while also giving context as to why they are so valuable in terms of understanding the history of the region. This context is definitely not something you can find on the written descriptions , so I really appreciated Alicia’s input. The ticket is valid till 5pm so you can keep exploring after the guided portion of this tour ends. As a solo traveller, I also appreciated Alicia’s offer to take a slo-mo picture of each of us all the stunning waterfall. It’s hard to get pictures of yourself when you’re travelling alone, so I truly appreciated Alicia’s offer. Overall I highly recommend this tour!

Great guided tour! Our tour guide, David was fantastic. So happy we decided to go with a guide because we know very little Spanish and we would not have been able To read most of the signs. The museum is beautiful and worth seeing while you’re in Mexico City.
