Excellent private tour! There were a few hiccups (tour company was not responsive leading up to the tour, driver was late, car was small/cramped) but overall still worth the experience. It is much better to go private so you can go at your own pace and not have to worry about large groups/schedules. I would book this tour again.

Ari was our driver and guide for the day and he was absolutely amazing! He was so kind and kept asking us if we needed to stop or see anything. He was knowledgeable as well. He was a very safe driver and we had the best time at Grutuas de Tolantongo. The hot springs were unreal! I can’t believe I got to check this experience off of my bucket list. 10/10 would do this again. Honestly I was left speechless and just had a huge smile on my face most of the time. Having a private guide for the day for our group was the best decision. We got to go at our own pace and we also got to see everything we wanted.

This 3.5 hour~ solo ride was super worth it. Ricardo was prepared for our comfort! He had pillows and a blanket ready for us to nap and waited for us while we were in the hot springs. He also borrowed us waterproof phone bags for photos. We also stopped for water shoes and cafe de olla before the trip. On the way back we got birria quesadillas which were gigantic! Thank you!!

Went for a day trip. The travel to/from the springs was worth every penny and the service was fantastic! Our driver Gabriel was perfect. The venue has most things you could possibly want while you’re there including shoes, snacks, etc. so don’t feel like you need to pack too much. 11/10 would recommend.

Lovedddd! Grutas tolantongo was so beautiful and I met some pretty cool people i really recommend it. Our guide Angel was so kind and helpful. The ride there and back is pretty bumpy but our driver did a great job taking us there safely!

The drive isn’t as long as the website says , but maybe on the day I went there just wasn’t as much traffic. I went in July. Definitely worth your money and time. Noe was my driver and he was amazing. He want above and beyond. Had water for us, chips, flashlights and iPhone water proof cases for us. Don’t forget to wear water proof shoes.

The overall experience was fantastic. Despite not being able to go to the caves due to poor weather there was plenty of time to enjoy the baths, food/drinks and scenery.

I had an entire car to myself which meant I could lie in the front seat and sleep for 3 hours because the pickup was at 5am. The guide explained everything and then let me explore. Ricardo was very lovely and accommodating. I really recommend the experience.

I really wish I could give this a higher rating! We really wanted to hit up Tolantongo while being in CDMX but didn’t want to go with a big group because we love to do as we please. And then we found Epic Journeys!!!! Paid securely on their website and heard back from them through WhatsApp right away. Ricardo, the best tour guide, reached out to me the morning of to let us know he was on his way. He picked us up in a nice sedan. Gave us a bunch of insight on the city and things we were driving by. He let us know how long it would take and what the plan was. When we arrived he walked us through everything and let us venture out. Gave us clear instructions on how to get ahold of him and our length of time we had at each part of the resort. We couldn’t have asked for anything better. Ricardo is very calm and friendly and answers all your questions. Be ready for lots of steep stairs and hills. But also be ready for a great adventure!!!

Driver got us there in 3.5 hours. We could have stopped for 60 pesos water shoes at 100 different shops but he brought us to one that costed 180-200. Half of the pools were closed for cleaning. They ripped us off on the locker price 250 instead of 100. River was brown because of sediment post rain. Overall not the best day for the price.

Amazing! Such an incredible experience, going private was so worth it! Ricardo was the best, he informed us of where was best to go and the history of the place but also gave us privacy and time to enjoy the park by ourselves! We chose to get the zip line to the bottom is was amazing! We got there early and left as late as possible with enough time to enjoy the evening in Mexico City!!

Booked this private tour through Viator for myself and my wife. We were promptly picked up at 5am at our hotel in Mexico City by our tour guide in a full-sized, air conditioned van. We were able to easily sleep in the van and we woke up four hours later in Tolantongo. At 9am, the grounds are pretty empty and you have your choice of where you would want to go. It starts to get busy around 11am and that's when your guide takes you to the next area. The hot springs are even better than you see on social media. Not only do you get to hang at the picturesque, infinity pools, but you also can climb through caves and lounge in warm rivers with clear, blue water. This was undeniably a highlight to our trip to Mexico, Epic Journey is a legitimate tour operator, and Gerardo Fuentes was a safe driver and helpful guide.

This was such a great experience. We were a little shocked that we were picked up in a personal car opposed to a van! Felt more like an uber ride opposed to a tour guide. However, he was very pleasant and nice. He was very patient also. Beware that this park is not for the week. Many hills and steep inclines. The pools were very nice and the zip line was amazing. Manage your time wisely so that you can enjoy all the park has to offer. The food was great in my opinion. Be sure to choose a tour option that jncludes food because ours didn’t. Otherwise, you’ll have to pay for food! Loved this and would do it again.

We had an amazing experience our driver Abraham was excellent, on time, courteous and brought us back to the city before our anticipated arrival so we were able to make our next activity on time. He also provided us great insight and knowledge about Mexico City, Grutas Tolantongo and more. 10/10 stars for our driver and the company.

Amazing destination! Hot springs, waterfall, grotto, river in beautiful mountains. Our guide was on time and gave us good tips. Summer months are rain season; weekends are overcrowded. Pick up and drop off at the apartment was the main reason we chose Epic Travel. We are now ordering another trip with them. Tip for those who wear glasses: They will get foggy in the grotto and tunnel - either have your goggles on or dip your glasses in the warm water to defog them. Water proof pouches for phones are best bought ahead of time in any mall in Mexico City. Use your phone flashlight when in the tunnel - it has unexpected drops, but it was so much fun!

He ensured that we were well taken care of throughout the tour and made sure we were comfortable. Ari’s enthusiasm and positive attitude made the experience much more enjoyable. Ricardo was an excellent driver and guide. His car was clean, his driving was safe, and most importantly, he was very responsive whenever we had questions or needed anything. He also provided great recommendations for activities and places to eat, which made the experience even better. That said, the vehicle choice was a drawback. The tour involves roughly nine hours of driving, and a sedan is not appropriate for that length of time. For a trip like this, a larger van—or at minimum the option to upgrade to an SUV—would make a big difference in comfort. I would still recommend the tour because Ricardo was fantastic and Tolantongo is a unique and worthwhile destination. However, if another company offered the same experience with a larger vehicle, I would likely choose that instead. Even as someone in my mid-20s and generally comfortable with long travel days, the extended time in a sedan left me quite sore, so others may find it even more challenging.

Jose Gerardo was an outstanding driver and guide. He was punctual and ensured a safe and comfortable journey. Upon arrival, he provided us with a detailed introduction and helped tailor the best activity route based on the weather conditions. We truly had a wonderful experience. On our return trip, he kindly stopped at a roadside restaurant at our request, giving us time to pack some delicious local lamb soup. We were completely satisfied with his service and highly recommend him.
