This tour, and our guide, Ruben, were excellent. Highly recommended if you are visiting Mexico City and the surrounding area.

Alicia was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about Teotihuacan. We weren't rushed and got to enjoy the amazing and expansive surroundings. This place was really impressive. Our driver Leonardo was courteous and a relaxed driver, which is really appreciated.
Great experience, the guide is very friendly and knowledgeable. Bring sunscreen and a hat, and maybe an umbrella, limited shade at the site, and highly recommend bringing water as well. Incredible site and Viktor’s insights really made history come alive.
Shower up 1.5 hrs late and did not notify us. We had to call multiple times. Driver was nice but couldn’t find drop off point because tour operator changed guides. Took 3 extra hours out of our day. Tour guide, Sylvia was excellent.
Andrea was a wonderful guide. She really brought the site to life worth her extensive knowledge. She recommended a wonderful restaurant with an artistan collective because of our interest in art. She customized our experience wonderfully.
The whole experience was outstanding. The guide was very knowledgeable and professional. The drive from Mexico City and back went smoothly. Highly recommended tour!
We really had a great tour with Andrea. She was knowledgeable, and well prepared. She brought with her, on her phone, images of what the complex may have looked like historically, and what they looked like before "restoration". She gave a great explanation of the interpretation of the site. As a historic preservation architect, I truly appreciated her knowledge of original features and interpreted features. We took the tour earlier in the day, which was good because it got pretty hot in the afternoon. The entry fee was included in the tour and Epic Journey Tours sent a car to pick us up and drop us off at the hotel. I would recommend this tour. Epic Journey Tours did offer some add-ons to this tour, lunch at La Cueva, and a stop at a souvenir shop for "obsidian experience." La Cueva was good, but it is better for a big group. We were just two people, and the portions were more for family style. I suggest skipping the souvenir shop, unless you really, really want to buy something. The quality of the items for sale were high, and we appreciated being guided to a place where good quality was available. However, the sales lady at the souvenir shop was crude and pushy. Not my cup of tea.
Our guide Victor was amazing. We really enjoyed spending the day with him and learning so much more than we thought we would about the ruins. This is a great tour for anyone but especially those who love History! We will not soon forgot the amazing tour and experience of a lifetime with Victor.
Gerardo was a great driver and spoke excellent English on the journey which was helpful. Our guide Christian was excellent, so knowledgeable and informative. We all throughly enjoyed the trip. Thank you Epic Journey
Gerardo was great! Picked up on time, did the whole day in English and Spanish for our mixed family, and took fantastic care of us. The tour itself was very informative, easy going, and extremely scenic. Thank you again to Gerardo for a day we won’t forget.
The city is huge place to explore and needs a lot of walking, but you don’t feel tired because of the joy of the experience. The restaurant inside the cave has great Mexican food to try
Ari was our guide, and he was absolutely amazing! He was so knowledge and so accommodating. He talked us through everything we would see and the history behind all the sights. We had a 9 year old with us and he was great about taking breaks and getting us snack and water. It was very worth it to get a private tour. Please request Ari for you tour.
We had an amazing experience with our guide Arli and driver Joshua. It was so nice doing a private tour so that we could ask all our questions and spend the time we wanted to at sites and not feel rushed.
Andrea was great. Very knowledgeable.
Do not miss this experience. Our guide Marco was incredible. Extremely knowledgeable well spoken and sensitive to our needs. He really made this a once in a lifetime opportunity.
This was an exceptionally good tour - educational, eye-opening, perfectly well paced. Including the one-hour ride from Mexico City (each way), my tour lasted six hours, but the time flew and it never felt too long, or rushed. Mine was a private tour, so I paid up compared to a group rate, but it was really worth the price. My guide, Roberto, was excellent. He communicated thoroughly and very well, from before pick-up, during the ride to Teotihuacan, and at all times during our walk around the ancient city and the pyramids. He was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He was welcoming, gracious, and polite. I would recommend this tour, and Roberto, very highly.
Roberto was very passionate about the history the culture and gave us a wonderful tour of the site. His passion showed through his descriptions. Seeing my interest in local minerology he took us to a gem and mineral dealer who showed us around her shop ( on the way). Roberto grew up around the site so was very in tune with the history. It was a wonderful visit.
Ruben is a fine gentleman and an amazing tour host.
The tour was truly amazing. Ruben was a super cool dude. He was genuinely very interested in the history of Teotihuacan and native Mexican cultures. His English ws also flawless which made asking questions and talking more broadly about a wide range of topics very easy and fun. Thank you so much Ruben!
Very educational, good experience
We highly recommend this 5-to-6-hour private tour from Mexico City! From start to finish, the entire day was seamless, inspiring, and deeply memorable. we were in communication with Epic Journey VIP the day prior to our tour, helping to confirm all of our details. Our driver who was also our guide, arrived at our hotel exactly on time, setting a professional tone for the day. Our private guide, Ruben, was exceptional. He brought the ancient history of the Teotihuacán pyramids to life with his incredible knowledge and a genuine, contagious pride in his culture. Climbing these impressive temples and taking in the breathtaking views from the top was truly inspiring. To top it all off, we paid a nominal fee to include lunch, and it was absolutely worth it. We ate traditional dishes inside an incredible cave near the pyramids while being entertained by a spectacular lineup of performers, including traditional dancers, singers, and mariachis. If you are looking for an informative, smooth, and culturally rich experience, this is the private tour to book!Read less Read more about - 100% Private Tour in Teotihuacán Pyramids from Mexico City - https://www.viator.com/tours/Mexico-City/Pyramids-in-Teotihuacan-private-transportation-from-Mexico-city/d628-392103P5?mcid=56757
We had a private tour to Teotihuacan with Andrea and a driver, and really enjoyed it. Andrea’s explanations at the site were interesting and gave us much more context for what we were seeing. What we liked most was that it didn’t feel like a fixed itinerary. We could spend more time where we wanted, move on when we were ready, and Andrea adjusted the day as we went. We also visited workshops in a nearby village, which was a nice change from the archaeological site and made the day feel more complete. It was exactly the kind of private tour we were hoping for..

We booked this private tour for myself, my husband, and 4 year old son. I did a lot of research before booking and found this experience was a great deal, especially for the value. They were in touch with us several times ahead of the trip to confirm pickup location and the age of my son to ensure the tour was tailored correctly with him in mind, which I appreciated. They also sent a bit of information a few days in advance for us to have on hand. On the day of the tour, the driver was right on time at 8am and we got to the pyramids from Polanco in about an hour. We went on a Monday and arrived probably around 9am and crowds were still low (by the time we left around 11am it was much more crowded so I would definitely plan on the early option they give you and not try to adjust it!). They provided our tour guide who was very insightful and gave us a lot of information about the site that we didn't know about and she was also very happy to take our various family photos! She also gave us a little jaguar whistle for our son (you'll see this sold quite a bit there - it's a cool little souvenir) and two magnets to add to our keepsakes which was super thoughtful! By the time we left around 11am, I felt two hours there was plenty and we never felt rushed. We arranged to use the last hour of our tour at La Cueva restaurant which was a great experience and way to end the trip. Overall, we are very glad we booked with this company and would recommend to others...it was one of my favorite days on our vacation to Mexico City!
Highly recommend. Our guide Gerardo was great. Logistics were easy and his knowledge of the site made it come alive.
What an incredible experience! Our private tour of Teotihuacán was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico City, and Victor made the day truly exceptional. Victor was knowledgeable, personable, patient, and genuinely passionate about the history of Teotihuacán. He explained everything in a way that was fascinating and easy to understand, giving us a much deeper appreciation for the pyramids, the ancient city, and the people who once lived there. We never felt rushed and loved being able to experience everything at our own pace. Having a private tour made the experience even more special. Victor took wonderful care of us from beginning to end, answered all of our questions, and made the entire day feel relaxed and personal.

We had a great guide and tour of the Theotihuacan pyramids! We had a 2 year old with us and the guide Andrea really made sure we took our time on the tour but were able to see everything! We also learnt a lot about the history of the place. And Andrea suggested a great local place for lunch which had good food too!
Overall, we really enjoyed our private tour of Teotihuacán. Having a private tour made the experience much more comfortable, and we were able to explore the pyramids at our own pace without feeling rushed. Everything from pickup to drop-off went smoothly. The pyramids are incredible to see in person and definitely worth visiting while in Mexico City.
Gerardo was an excellent guide/driver. His English was excellent and he was able to answer our questions about the site and Mexico City very knowlegeably. His knowledge, good command of English, and friendly nature allowed us to have the best tour experience of our entire visit to Mexico City. We have no hesitation in recommending Gerardo as a guide to anyone considering a tour.
10/10 experience! Our guide Noe really went above and beyond and made the whole experience amazing for us. He also handled everything for us, including ticketing and helping with translation for souvenirs! There were lots of different tour groups there, but we were very happy that we selected this private one! Much easier to navigate the site and really easy pickup/drop off. Highly recommend this experience!
Our visit to the Teotihuacán Pyramids was truly memorable, largely because of Alicia, our spectacular official guide. She was exceptionally knowledgeable and brought the ancient city to life through engaging stories and clear explanations. We did have to pay an additional fee to the tour operator for an official guide inside the Teotihuacán archaeological site, but it was absolutely worth it—especially because our guide was Alicia. She spent ample time with us and never made the experience feel rushed. She carefully explained the pyramids, the surrounding area, and the rich history behind them in a way that was easy to follow and genuinely fascinating. Her passion for the subject came through throughout the tour. The private car and driver experience were average. The driver arrived on time, which we appreciated, but he spoke only Spanish, so there was very little communication during the drive there and back. Overall, we would recommend the experience, particularly if you can have Alicia as your official guide inside the Teotihuacán Pyramids. Teotihuacán is the ancient archaeological site northeast of Mexico City that includes the famous pyramids and ceremonial avenue.
I thoroughly enjoyed the 100% Private Tour in Teotihuacán Pyramids from Mexico City. Our bilingual tour host, Abraham Gabriel, provided an excellent experience. Most importantly, the tour focused entirely on the sights with absolutely no forced shopping experiences. Highly recommend!
My wife and I were extremely disappointed with our tour. Miguel arrived at our apartment on time, the car was great. His English was perfect and he was very friendly and polite. He also dropped us by the Zócalo on the way back as we asked, a very nice man. Our issue was that we booked the tour specifically so that we could have an in depth expert on the site, not just a comfortable drive. Miguel provided very little information on the site and almost nothing that we did not know from reading the Wikipedia page on Teotihuacan. He injected opinions that were at odds with archeological records - including such things as viking influences on mesoamericanan culture and artifacts as well as presenting a theory he heard from a Mormon family he guided once. During the drive and the tour he mostly spoke about his personal business, experiences, political views and personal theories about the site rather than the conclusions of anthropologists studying the site. We've traveled to many places including the Yucatan, Guatemala and Egypt and have found experts in history with knowledge of the local sites. We were extremely disappointed that we have not been able to find this with this company company. To anyone reading this we would suggest that you arrange for a guide from the archeological site itself rather than hiring one that doesn't have qualifications if you are interested in the actual history of the site. We also expressed our displeasure to the company in private after our experience and was told "What do you want me to do about it?"
Ruben was amazing and very knowledgeable of everything we saw on the tour! Great time and really enjoyed it
We had a great time with our guide, Ruben. He picked us up at our hotel in time and we then drove to Cholula to see the Church on the pyramid and then we went to Puebla. Both places were awesome to visit. Ruben is very knowledgeable in Mexico’s rich cultural history and I don’t think we could have found a more informative guide. He is passionate about his job which made our tour even better. Puebla is such a beautiful place, with its awesome churches, wonderful people and architecture, we would like to visit again. When we return to Mexico City we will definitely book with Epic Journeys for our tours.
Awesome day trip. Couldn’t have worked better for our family. Pick up and ride was easy. Driver and guide was perfect (that’s Noa).
"We had an incredible time with Victor! He was warm, welcoming, and exceptionally informative throughout the entire tour. The pace of the experience was perfectly balanced—we never felt rushed and had plenty of time to truly enjoy every stop. Even the transfers to and from the experience were comfortable and fun. I can’t recommend Victor highly enough if you’re looking for a stress-free, engaging tour!"
We were picked up from our hotel, driven to the Pyramids/Temples, offered Chris & ice cold water on route by our driver-Judy. Once we arrived at the site we were meet by our guide Christian, who was brilliant & very knowledgeable. Our tour was even adapted for us to include a lunch stop on our return journey to our hotel. We had a most excellent day out, I would recommend to anyone. Pats (our tour organiser) was very patient with me while booking, as I was having credit card issues. N.B. Any extras (like our lunch stop) will of course come at an extra cost. Also the guide may not be included in the total price as advertised, as the archaeological site has changed its rules in April 2026. Hopefully the website details will be updated shortly to make bookers aware of this fact. Once again, a fantastic day out. Thank you Pats, Judy, Christian & team. X
Our tour guide was fantastic. He has been a guide for 15 years and was able to share so many details. He found the perfect picture spots too. I recommend this tour.
Great day. Excellent guide, on time driver, magnificent site, gorgeous weather & and extremely responsive tour company.
I first visited Teotihuacan 21 years ago and was excited to return. Years ago, I was on a larger tour that included tourist shopping stops, and although the experience at the archeological site was good, I felt like it was a bit rushed and I didn’t have as much time there as I wanted. I also felt like I didn’t not have a great understanding of the site. So, this time, I chose to book a private tour with a certified guide. Christian was an excellent guide, offered detailed information throughout the archeological site, and easily answered all of my questions. I had 3 hours to explore the site and I saw much more than I first did all those years ago. My guide was friendly, considerate, and very knowledgeable. If you have the time and the means, I highly recommend booking this private tour. I should add that it was also very convenient that my driver picked me up and dropped me off at my door, especially given the early departure time I had chosen. My driver was helpful and pleasant and the car was clean and comfortable.
Such a fantastic tour. They were on time and professional. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, patient and kind. Highly recommend
My family and I were picked up on time from our hotel and taken to the pyramids. Andrea was a wonderful guide- she knew so much about the culture and tailored everything to our needs with a 10 year old daughter and two 79 year old grandparents. We visited the pyramids, then a museum, then a little store where they sold handicrafts and taught us about some of them (but very low pressure sales). We were then taken back to our hotel. One note- if you get car sick, it's best to take dramamine. Even though the van is nice, the road is bumpy. My daughter got car sick on the way, and they were very good about stopping at a gas station to get some soda and use the restroom to help her.
Great tour. Jacob and Marco are great and super helpful.
We really enjoyed the ruins themselves. Pickup and drop off were on time. The guide Jacobo was friendly. The communication was excellent with all questions answered promptly. Suggestions for improvement would have been more time at the ruins, more detailed explanations about the archaeology, and a less touristy restaurant.
Roberto was the man!! Really enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it!! Looking forward to my next one!!
Great guide, well organized, informative, comfortable
Roberto was an excellent guide! A very smooth experience, the private tour was exceptional.
We had a great tour of Teotihuacan. Diego our guide was fantastic. Comentary throughout the day was very informative. It was FIFA World Cup time and we had lots of discussion re football and players past and present and the game that was being played at the time. Thank you Diego, Bruno (Col) and Kaz
